An “unknown projectile” struck and caused a fire on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, British maritime security agency UKMTO said.
The incident occurred near one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes, despite a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran and ongoing efforts to secure a lasting peace agreement.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the incident took place eight nautical miles east of Limah, Oman.

“A tanker has reported being hit by an unknown projectile on the port side causing a fire, whilst travelling southbound,” UKMTO said in a post on X.
A viral video shows a young man getting assaulted by black men before female British police break up the ruckus. The black men fled, leaving the white man to be arrested. The Birmingham police announced only the white man would be charged, even after considering a review of the viral video. The police are also calling on the video to not be allowed to be shared on social media.
Almost half of Americans, 46%, had no idea what July 4th celebrated, the birth of our republic. The findings come from a Cato Institute Poll, which was conducted with Morning Consult. 61% of Gen Z Americans failed to recognize July 4th is the birth of the American republic.

One deep blue D.C. suburb will not be celebrating the Fourth of July with fireworks as its local government urges residents to turn in some of their patriotic neighbors.
In Alexandria, Virginia, the local government suggests reporting neighbors who are using fireworks, said an X post.
“Fireworks are illegal in Alexandria, including sparklers. Report illegal fireworks by calling 311. Our show is next weekend,” the post read.
“Any fireworks found inside the City can be taken away. If you are caught with fireworks, you could face a Class 1 misdemeanor charge. That means up to one year in jail, a $2,500 fine or both,” the Alexandria Fire Department reminded the community in a press release.

British officers are increasingly seen as “preferencing certain groups,” according to a government-backed study
British police chiefs need to stop taking sides in “woke… culture wars” and focus entirely on the “prevention and detection of crime,” according to a government-backed report that recommends a “fundamental overhaul” of policing in the UK.
Co-authored by former Labour Party Home Secretary Lord Blunkett and published on Monday, the report found that Britain’s police departments are plagued by corrupt leadership, nepotism, abuse of power, and low morale among officers.
The report also highlighted concerns that police leaders are “preferencing certain groups,” with some “woke” chiefs “taking sides in the so-called ‘culture wars.’”
“Police leaders should be resolute in refusing to take sides, or to be diverted from the course of focusing entirely on the prevention, detection and prosecution of crime,” the report recommends, adding that “the background or identity of any perpetrator or victim of crime should have absolutely no bearing” on their treatment by the police service.

Over this weekend of celebration, the paper’s America coverage read less like curiosity and more like a bill of indictment. President Donald Trump’s Mount Rushmore speech was framed as a “partisan attack.” America at 250 was described as “a solid global citizen gone rogue.” Another headline said Trump “hijacked” the anniversary for “political ideology and pet projects.”
The mood didn’t improve when the subject moved from speeches to people on the National Mall. One story led with “a total disappointment” as Americans dealt with brutal heat at the Great American State Fair.
Another July 4 opinion headline declared, “America is destroying itself. It’s no surprise.”
For a newspaper covering a 250th birthday, it certainly sounded eager to write the obituary before the fireworks went off.
The country is marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence. The White House’s Freedom 250 page described a full year of events meant to honor American history, faith, innovation, and the next 250 years.

With the recommendation of the Minnesota Clemency Review Commission (CRC), the Minnesota Board of Pardons — led by Walz, state Attorney General Keith Ellison and state Chief Justice Natalie Hudson — granted a pardon for Laos national Tou Lue Vang, 42, at its June 10 meeting, according to a letter informing Vang of the decision from Carli Stark, the executive director of the state CRC.
The pardon essentially gives Vang a clean slate.
“Being granted a pardon is a notable achievement and a reflection of the work you have done since your conviction,” Stark wrote in her letter to Vang.

An illegal immigrant disarmed a Boston US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a targeted enforcement operation on Wednesday in Massachusetts. The subject pulled a firearm out of an agent’s holster during a chaotic scuffle as he resisted arrest, video shows.
Federal law enforcement sources told The Post Millennial that the subject is a previously deported criminal foreign national. The incident occurred on Main Street in Everett, MA, a town located just north of the sanctuary city of Boston.
Video footage taken by a bystander captured the intense physical confrontation. Multiple ICE officers could be observed subduing the resisting subject on the ground beside a pickup truck on a residential street.

What I mean by that, in 1793 and ’94, when the French Revolution was well on its way to fruition, a group of radicals called Jacobins, led by the Robespierre brothers, hijacked that revolution and decided that they were going to go far, far to the left of the effort to abolish the monarchy and rename the days of the week, the months, start with a year zero concept, go out and attack private property, and execute people.
Now, I don’t think the democratic socialists are going to do that, but their takeover is similar to the Jacobin takeover. And what is their agenda? Their agenda is a radical Green New Deal, war on fossil fuels, open borders, no deportations, no deportations even for criminally convicted.

The body said it received a report of the incident 30 nautical miles (56 km) southwest of the port city of Al Hudaydah in Yemen.

On June 17, the European Parliament passed rules for faster deportation procedures for migrants who have to leave the union. Under the regulation, migrants without the right to remain can be held in detention pending deportation for up to 30 months under certain circumstances. Children may also face detention pending deportation, although lawmakers emphasize that such detention is a last resort in these cases.
The new regulation also allows for the establishment of special return centers outside the EU. These centers are intended to house rejected asylum seekers who cannot be deported to their home countries – for example, because their country of origin cannot be clearly determined or because there are no diplomatic relations with that country. The EU now also provides clearer guidelines on how rejected asylum seekers must cooperate with their own deportation if they wish to avoid penalties. In addition, the directive tightens the rules for individuals who pose a security risk.

I started my career as a high school history teacher back in 1985. I taught my students about the Holocaust every year and was fortunate enough one summer to be selected for a special National Endowment for the Humanities seminar for teachers, led by Professor Lawrence Langer, a leading Holocaust scholar. Professor Langer came up with the term the “choiceless choice” to describe the no-win situations Jews were put in during the Holocaust, when there was simply no real choice to be made in the face of the genocidal Nazis. The idea has stuck with me for four decades.
It came to mind again when I read a recent Washington Post article following the Supreme Court’s adverse ruling in our case, BPJ v. West Virginia, on June 30, in which Julian Mark writes, “Critics, including some trans rights advocates, say the movement has rushed to tee up causes that the court’s 6-3 conservative majority is not ready to embrace.” While elements of the article were thoughtful, it is based on a flawed premise that warrants exploration.
First of all, the idea that “the [LGBTQ+] movement has rushed to tee up [trans] causes” is completely off the mark. There have been 2,446 bills designed to limit the rights of LGBTQ+ people introduced into state legislatures since 2022 — at least one in every single one of our 50 states — and 255 of them have become law in 27 states. The large majority of these laws are aimed at trans people. The LGBTQ+ movement didn’t “tee up” these laws: the opponents of the LGBTQ+ movement did, because they saw a political advantage to be won by picking on a small and relatively powerless minority and cynically exploited it. In other words, we didn’t pick this fight. We didn’t “tee up” trans issues. Our opponents did.

In a 2-1 decision, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Trump administration’s firings were illegal because they did not allow for an appeal or the opportunity for the 19 intelligence officers to request a reassignment.
The Court further ruled that the Trump administration illegally made the decision based on the anti-DEI executive order signed by President Donald Trump upon entering office rather than “workplace misconduct” or “performance concerns.”
