Mexico sent 26 high-ranking cartel figures to the United States Tuesday in the latest major deal with the Trump administration as American authorities ratchet up pressure on criminal networks smuggling drugs across the border.
Those handed over to U.S. custody include Abigael González Valencia, a leader of “Los Cuinis,” a group closely aligned with notorious cartel Jalisco New Generation, or CJNG. Another defendant, Roberto Salazar, is wanted in connection to the 2008 killing of a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy. Other prominent figures have ties to the Sinaloa Cartel and other violent drug trafficking groups.
“These transfers are not only a strategic measure to ensure public safety, but also reflect a firm determination to prevent these criminals from continuing to operate from within prisons and to break up their networks of influence,” Mexican Security Minister Omar García Harfuch said in a news conference on Wednesday.
Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum also said earlier Wednesday that the transfers were “sovereign decisions,” but the move comes as the Mexican leader faces mounting pressure by the Trump administration to crack down on cartels and fentanyl production.
Late last month, Mr. Trump spoke with Sheinbaum and agreed to put off threatened 30% tariffs for another 90 days to allow for negotiations.
The transfers are a milestone for the Trump administration, which has made dismantling dangerous drug cartels a key Justice Department priority. It’s the second time in months that Mexico has expelled cartel figures accused of narcotics smuggling, murder and other crimes amid mounting pressure from the Trump administration to curb the flow of drugs onto American streets.
“These 26 men have all played a role in bringing violence and drugs to American shores — under this Department of Justice, they will face severe consequences for their crimes against this country,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement. “We are grateful to Mexico’s National Security team for their collaboration in this matter.”
In February, Mr. Trump signed an executive order designating CJNG, Sinaloa and six other cartels — Tren de Aragua, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), Cártel del Noreste (formerly Los Zetas), La Nueva Familia Michoacana, Cártel de Golfo (Gulf Cartel), and Cárteles Unidos — as foreign terrorist organizations.
The cartel figures were put on planes to the U.S. after the Justice Department agreed not to seek the death penalty against any of the defendants or against any cartel leaders and members sent to the U.S. in February. That transfer was of 29 cartel figures, including drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero, who was behind the killing of a U.S. DEA agent in 1985.
“This transfer is yet another example of what is possible when two governments stand united against violence and impunity,” U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ronald Johnson said in a statement. “These fugitives will now face justice in U.S. courts, and the citizens of both of our nations will be safer from these common enemies.”
Sheinbaum has shown a willingness to cooperate more on security than her predecessor, specifically being more aggressive in pursuit of Mexico’s cartels. But she has drawn a clear line when it comes to Mexico’s sovereignty, rejecting suggestions by Mr. Trump and others of intervention by the U.S. military.
Last week, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to CBS News that Mr. Trump directed the military to target drug cartels in Latin America. Sheinbaum responded Friday by saying there would be “no invasion of Mexico.”
Also included in the group expelled Tuesday was Servando Gómez Martinez, also known as “La Tuta,” a former school teacher who became one of Mexico’s most-wanted drug lords as head of the Knights Templar cartel. He was captured in 2015 and sentenced to 55 years in a Mexican prison in June 2019.

Gomez led the quasi-religious criminal group that once exercised absolute control over Michoacan and he liked to appear in interviews and videos. The cartel orchestrated politics, controlled commerce, dictated rules and preached a code of ethics around devotion to God and family, even as it murdered and plundered.
Abigael González Valencia is the brother-in-law of CJNG leader Nemesio Rubén “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, a top target of the U.S. government. Abigael González Valencia was arrested in February 2015 in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco and had been fighting extradition to the United States since then. The U.S. government has offered a reward of up to $15 million for information leading to “El Mencho’s” arrest or conviction.
Alongside his two brothers, Abigael González Valencia led “Los Cuinis,” which financed the founding and growth of the CJNG, one of the most powerful and dangerous cartels in Mexico. CJNG traffics hundreds of tons of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl into the United States and other countries and is known for extreme violence, murders, torture, and corruption.
One of his brothers, José González Valencia, was sentenced in Washington’s federal court in June to 30 years in a U.S. prison after pleading guilty to international cocaine trafficking. Jose González Valencia was arrested in 2017 under the first Trump administration at a beach resort in Brazil while vacationing with his family under a fake name.

A significant portion of Democrats have been dissatisfied with their political party, according to a new Associated Press-NORC poll.
The recent poll highlights growing dissatisfaction among Democrats with their own party following a major electoral defeat last November, which saw Donald Trump return to the presidency and Republicans take control of the White House, Senate, and the House of Representatives. The Democratic Party has since faced internal division over its direction, ideological divisions, as well as leadership.
The poll, conducted between July 10 and 14 among 1,437 adults, revealed that 35 percent of Democrats used negative terms to describe their party with words like “weak,” “tepid,” “apathetic,” “ineffective,” and “broken.” In contrast, only 23 percent offered positive descriptors. Among Republicans, 41 percent used positive language to describe their own party, while 19 percent were critical.
The US Senate has confirmed Jeanine Pirro – a former Fox News host and staunch Donald Trump ally who boosted lies that he lost the 2020 presidential race because of electoral fraudsters – as the top federal prosecutor for the nation’s capital.
Pirro – a former New York state district attorney and county judge who joined Fox News in 2011 – was confirmed on Saturday in a 50-45 vote along party lines.
In a statement issued by Pirro after the vote, the Republican said she was “blessed” to have been confirmed as the US attorney for Washington DC. “Get ready for a real crime fighter,” said Pirro’s statement, which called the US attorney’s office she had been confirmed to lead the largest in the country.
President Donald Trump spent the last few months of his 2024 campaign promising to force taxpayers to foot the bill for a procedure that routinely destroys human life. His plans to pave the way for Americans to make “more babies” by subsidizing in vitro fertilization, however, are allegedly on hold.
The Washington Post reported that as of Sunday, Trump’s White House is allegedly “backing away from proposals discussed internally to mandate IVF coverage for the roughly 50 million people on the Obamacare exchanges.”
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told WaPo that Trump “pledged to expand access to fertility treatments for Americans who are struggling to start families” and is still “committed like none before it to using its authorities to deliver on this pledge.” As of now, however, that goal reportedly does not include taxpayer-funded IVF.
WaPo’s chief economics reporter Jeff Stein painted the decision as “another apparent L from this admin for the conservative natalists.”
Thanks to the new federal law defunding America’s biggest abortion business, Planned Parenthood has announced it will close two abortion centers in Ohio.
And the closings will take place even though a Democrat-appointed judge has blocked the federal defunding law.
In July, Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region announced the upcoming closure of its abortion centers in Springfield and Hamilton, which the abortion giant said was “a direct result” of the One Big Beautiful Bill that Congress passed and President Trump signed into law.
“Make no mistake: this was not a decision made by Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region,” said Nan Whaley, President & CEO of the abortion giant. “We took every possible step to keep these centers open, but the devastating impact of state and federal political attacks has forced us into this very difficult position.”
Planned Parenthood will close the centers this week.
Officials with the abortion business confirmed the centers are still closing despite the judge’s ruling because an appeal is expected and the law and its defunding components are expected to be upheld. Thus, if Planned Parenthood gets the tax dollars, there is a possibility it would have to repay them.
A universal deepfake detector has achieved the best accuracy yet in spotting multiple types of videos manipulated or completely generated by artificial intelligence. The technology may help flag non-consensual AI-generated pornography, deepfake scams or election misinformation videos.
The widespread availability of cheap AI-powered deepfake creation tools has fuelled the out-of-control online spread of synthetic videos. Many depict women – including celebrities and even schoolgirls – in nonconsensual pornography. And deepfakes have also been used to influence political elections, as well as to enhance financial scams targeting both ordinary consumers and company executives.
But most AI models trained to detect synthetic video focus on faces – which means they are most effective at spotting one specific type of deepfake, where a real person’s face is swapped into an existing video. “We need one model that will be able to detect face-manipulated videos as well as background-manipulated or fully AI-generated videos,” says Rohit Kundu at the University of California, Riverside. “Our model addresses exactly that concern – we assume that the entire video may be generated synthetically.”
Kundu and his colleagues trained their AI-powered universal detector to monitor multiple background elements of videos, as well as people’s faces. It can spot subtle signs of spatial and temporal inconsistencies in deepfakes. As a result, it can detect inconsistent lighting conditions on people who were artificially inserted into face-swap videos, discrepancies in the background details of completely AI-generated videos and even signs of AI manipulation in synthetic videos that don’t contain any human faces. The detector also flags realistic-looking scenes from video games, such as Grand Theft Auto V, that are not necessarily generated by AI.

According to declassified materials already made public by Ratcliffe and former Special Counsel John Durham, the Clinton campaign not only greenlit the collusion hoax, but also coordinated with foreign groups including the Soros Foundation to build a disinformation war chest against Trump.
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has issued an executive order that will fully defund Planned Parenthood and any abortion business that would attempt to receive taxpayer funds.
Stitt has issued an executive order blocking Medicaid funds from entities and individuals affiliated with abortion businesses.
“Oklahoma is a pro-life state, and our policies should reflect that at every level of our government,” Stitt said in a news release. “We won’t allow tax dollars to indirectly subsidize and flow into the abortion industry under the guise of women’s health. My order makes sure every public dollar aligns with our values and supports providers who respect life at every stage.”
The executive order issued late Thursday directs the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) to terminate and refuse to renew any SoonerCare contracts with entities that perform, refer to or are affiliated with abortion services. SoonerCare is the state’s Medicaid program. This ensures that taxpayer dollars are not directed to abortion companies.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has filed a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood Federation of America in a bold and necessary move to protect women and uphold truth. His charge argues that Planned Parenthood lies to women, and those lies are costing lives.
Bailey’s suit, filed under the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, accuses the nation’s largest abortion provider of misleading Missouri women about the safety of the abortion pill mifepristone.
For decades, Planned Parenthood has marketed itself as a health care provider and a champion of women’s rights. But behind the pink logos and the slick messaging lies a profit-driven machine that has consistently downplayed the physical, emotional, and spiritual risks of abortion, including chemical abortion. Now, under legal scrutiny, that deception is receiving the pushback it deserves.
According to Bailey’s complaint, Planned Parenthood falsely equated Mifepristone to over-the-counter drugs like Tylenol, misleading women into believing that chemical abortion is a minor and routine procedure. In reality, the risks are anything but minimal.
A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit killed California’s ammunition restrictions in July. They ruled that background checks for ammunition were unconstitutional, which opened the door.

Lifelong hunter J.R. Young of San Jose rushed to an online ammunition dealer last week after a federal court decision overturned a California gun law that required background checks in person at every point of sale.
“Is this freedom week?” he said. “I was just curious to see if this striking down of the law is allowing companies to ship into the state again.
“The way we live in society now — when we want to buy something, we don’t want to go and take a trip to the store.”
Many bullet junkies, hunters and gun enthusiasts like Young quietly celebrated the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that may or may not ultimately put a dent in the state’s strict policies for purchasing ammunition.
President Donald Trump’s administration has suspended more than $200 million in research grants to UCLA, citing antisemitism and bias as the reasons.
The suspended grants are primarily through the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health, according to a memo to the community from UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk.
The Los Angeles Timesreported that with the addition of halted Department of Energy grants, the censure represents $300 million in suspended grants, according to “information shared with The Times on Friday by UC and Trump administration officials.”
Frenk, in his memo, denounced the decision as wrongheaded.
“With this decision, hundreds of grants may be lost, adversely affecting the lives and life-changing work of UCLA researchers, faculty and staff,” Frenk wrote in his July 31 memo. “In its notice to us, the federal government claims antisemitism and bias as the reasons. This far-reaching penalty of defunding life-saving research does nothing to address any alleged discrimination.”
In a proposed rule filed Friday, the department said that it is seeking to revoke access to abortions and abortion counseling for veterans and the beneficiaries of the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
“We take this action to ensure that VA provides only needed medical services to our nation’s heroes and their families,” the department said in the filing.
Under the Biden administration’s rule,thedepartment currently provides access to abortions when a pregnant veteran’s life or health is at risk if their pregnancy were carried to term, or if the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest — regardless of state laws.
The proposed rule would allow abortions in cases where “a physician certifies that the life of the mother would be endangered if the fetus were carried to term,” which, according to the filing, had been permitted even before the 2022 expansion.
In the wake of Columbia’s settlement for $220 million, Harvard has indicated a willingness to settle as well: Harvard University has signaled a willingness to meet the Trump administration’s demand to spend as much as $500 million to end its dispute with the White House as talks between the two sides intensify, four people familiar with the negotiations said. According to one of the people, Harvard is reluctant to directly pay the federal government, but negotiators are still discussing the exact financial terms. The sum sought by the government, which recently accused Harvard of civil rights violations, is more than twice as much as the $200 million fine that Columbia University said it would pay when it settled antisemitism claims with the White House last week. Neither Harvard nor the government has publicly detailed potential terms for a settlement and what allegations the money would be intended to resolve (New York Times).

Tuesday night, President Donald Trump asked two judges to release testimony given to grand juries that indicted both Epstein and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
Trump’s Department of Justice made a request for transcripts of testimony on July 18, but as Reuters reported, two judges wanted a more refined legal justification before moving forward.
The court filings just before midnight mentioned the case was subject to “abundant public interest,” making the request appropriate.
That is an understatement given how much attention Trump has garnered over his — and Attorney General Pam Bondi’s — handling of Epstein so far.

Federal prosecutors have moved to dismiss the case against a Los Angeles who had been seen on video distributing face masks during the LA anti-ICE riots in June.
According to court documents, the case against, Alejandro Theodoro Orellana has been dropped, with the DOJ stating, “Plaintiff United States of America, by and through its counsel of record, the United States Attorney for the Central District of California, hereby moves pursuant to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 48(a), and by leave of the Court, to dismiss the Indictment without prejudice in the above-referenced case.”
According to Bloomberg Law, the motion from the DOJ came down after Bill Essayli had faced pressure from prosecutors over the case. Orellana had been charged with civil disturbance, which usually requires consultation with the National Security Division in Washington.
Orellana had been indicted by a grand jury earlier in July for distributing the face shields at the anti-ICE riots in LA that took place in June. He had been charged with conspiracy to commit civil disorder and aiding and abetting civil disorder.
A vast network of anti-Israel groups has found “alternative fiscal sponsorships” after a main backer, the Westchester People’s Action Coalition (WESPAC), was exposed in a number of lawsuits as the financial powerhouse underwriting the nationwide campus protest movement, a new watchdog report shows.
WESPAC, a nonprofit headquartered in the affluent New York suburb White Plains, served until recently as the official “fiscal sponsor” for many of the organizations orchestrating violent and often anti-Semitic demonstrations on college campuses across the country. With WESPAC now embroiled in nationwide lawsuits, its partner organizations have been forced to find new benefactors and alternate fundraising channels.
WESPAC’s financial relationships with numerous pro-terror groups allowed it to accept tax-deductible donations on behalf of many organizations “directly responsible for targeting Jews with antisemitic rhetoric and creating a hostile environment across the United States,” according to a new report by NGO Monitor, which tracks anti-Israel funding networks. Those organizations include National Students for Justice in Palestine, Within Our Lifetime, the Palestinian Youth Movement, the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, the Palestinian Feminist Collective, and Adalah-NY.
In a victory for the pro-life movement and states’ rights, a three-judge panel for the Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled that West Virginia can enforce its law restricting abortion, rejecting an attempt by a drug manufacturer to override state protections for unborn children.
The ruling in GenBioPro v. Raynes centered on whether federal drug law preempts state abortion restrictions. GenBioPro, the manufacturer of the chemical abortion drug mifepristone, had argued that the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the drug should override state laws banning or restricting its use. The court disagreed.
The court’s 2-1 decision affirms the authority of states to regulate abortion and other high-risk medications within its borders, even when the drugs in question have federal approval. The panel concluded that the 2007 amendments to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) did not strip states of their right to enact minimum safety standards or protect unborn life.
Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III, writing for the majority, explained that the FDCA “falls well short of expressing a clear intention to displace the states’ historic and sovereign right to protect the health and safety of their citizens and that “Preemption in this instance would upend the federal-state balance by supplanting every state law tangentially touching a federal domain.”
One grant funded faculty training in ‘antiracist orientations’ via virtual reality
President Donald Trump’s administration recently pulled over $7.6 million in National Science Foundation grants from Arizona State University due to their ties to “diversity, equity and inclusion.”
The cuts targeted projects that included terms such as “equitable,” “underrepresented,” and “racial,” according to AZ Free News.
One of the five DEI grants that were pulled allocated nearly $2.5 million to a project called “Black Girls as Creators: an intersectional learning ecosystem toward gendered racial equity in Artificial Intelligence education.”
The program, which ran from October 2023 to April 2025, ended three years early. It offered after-school and summer camps for black girls aged 9-14 to work with AI creators, “focusing on intersectionality and racial equity,” the AZ Free News reported.
Another canceled grant allotted over $700,000 to an initiative called “Positioning Engineering Faculty to Support Black Engineering Graduate Students through Awareness, Knowledge, Capacity Building, and Community.”
The program, which was also terminated in April, was supposed to run through August 2029. It trained ASU faculty “in antiracist orientations using virtual reality simulations to address systemic barriers for black graduate students, prioritizing competency over technical skills,” according to AZ Free News.
Google has harnessed motion sensors on more than 2 billion smartphones to create an earthquake early-warning system that’s as effective as standard seismometers, a new study reveals.
Between 2021 and 2024, the company’s Android Earthquake Alerts (AEA) system captured more than 11,000 quakes through smartphone accelerometers and issued more than 1,200 alerts to Android users across 98 countries.
This system has led to a tenfold increase in the number of people with access to earthquake alerts, from 250 million in 2019 to 2.5 billion today. The researchers published their findings July 17 in the journal Science.
Stanford University has suspended for one year a pair of student co-ops for Title VI violations, one antisemitic in nature and the other anti-white.
As noted by The Stanford Daily, Title VI is the federal law banning “harassment and discrimination based on race, color or national origin in educational institutions.”
The school’s co-ops, or cooperative houses, are “student-managed residences in which house members cooperate in the operation and governance of the house.”
According to the Daily, the Stanford Title VI Office received “several reports” about the Kairos co-op after some students “participating in an extracurricular activity in the house were asked to leave.”
The reason was that “Zionists” present were “making residents of the house uncomfortable” … despite none of the activity’s participants discussing politics.

The Senate has confirmed President Trump’s former criminal defense attorney Emil Bove to a lifetime appointment as a federal appellate judge for the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals.
The 50-49 Senate vote was largely along party lines with Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voting against Bove’s confirmation to the federal bench.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the Wall Street Journal has offered to settle the president’s lawsuit against them over a report that Trump set notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein a bawdy letter for his birthday in 2003.
The explosive report claims that in 2003, Trump sent Epstein a birthday note alongside a scribbled photo of a naked woman. The alleged photo, which the outlet claims included a signature reading “Donald” on the drawing’s waist to look like pubic hair, was not published by The Journal.
It did provide a transcript of a bizarre poem, which they claim was written by Trump. The transcript of the alleged note goes as follows:

UCLA agreed to pay more than $6 million to settle a lawsuit brought by Jewish students who said the university allowed anti-Semitic discrimination during the spring 2024 anti-Israel encampments, which included a “Jew Exclusion Zone.”
Just hours after the settlement was inked, the Justice Department announced that it found UCLA violated federal civil rights law by failing to “respond to complaints of severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive harassment and abuse that Jewish and Israeli students faced on its campus from October 7, 2023, to the present.”
In June 2024, Yitzchok Frankel, then a second-year UCLA law student, filed a lawsuit alleging he was “harassed and blocked from approaching the encampment by antisemitic activists, all with the assistance of UCLA security.” He was later joined by two additional Jewish students and a medical school professor, and the Justice Department’s notice of violation on Tuesday also pointed to findings in the Frankel suit.
Under the settlement, UCLA will contribute over $2.3 million to eight Jewish organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League and Hillel at UCLA, while another $320,000 will go toward UCLA’s Initiative to Combat Antisemitism. It will also dole out $50,000 to each of the plaintiffs and pay $3.6 million of their legal fees.
In addition to the payments, UCLA will also enter a consent judgment that prohibits it from “knowingly allowing or facilitating the exclusion of Jewish students, faculty, and/or staff”—including discrimination based on one’s “religious beliefs concerning the Jewish state of Israel”—from university programs or spaces. The agreement will be in effect for 15 years.
Washington Post “fact checker” Glenn Kessler announced on July 28 he’s hanging up his Pinocchios and accepting a generous buyout after 27 years.
“Much as I would have liked to keep scrutinizing politicians in Washington, especially in this era, the financial considerations were impossible to dismiss,” he announced.
Kessler used a Pinocchio scale for his fact checks, and “Four Pinocchios” was his version of a “Pants On Fire” lie. During the 2016 campaign, Kessler reported “Trump earned significantly more four-Pinocchio ratings than Clinton – 59 to 7….the numbers don’t lie.”
The numbers always demonstrated a partisan pattern. Kessler’s white whale was Donald Trump. In 2020, he and his team authored a book titled Donald Trump and His Assault on Truth: The President’s Falsehoods, Misleading Claims and Flat-Out Lies.
The Post constructed a database of Trump claims. At the end of the first term, Kessler celebrated their end-of-term count of President Trump’s “false and misleading statements” – 30,573. Liberals routinely mangled this count by suggesting it was 30,000 “lies.”
The inability to get Trump, for lack of a better term, reared its head again, as the legacy media and the panicans were left shattered and bloody over the latest economic report. They were lusting for a recession. They were hoping the tariffs would increase prices—neither of those things happened. Instead, what we got was a robust report of three percent economic growth in the second quarter. The experts were wrong again. They were off about inflation, tariffs—when will they hide away in a cave in abject shame? You don’t get it. You never will, and it’s time to admit you’ll never beat Trump, ever. Also, Powell, cut the rates, a sentiment echoed in White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s statement on today’s robust economic news:
