Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who is running against Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) in November, indicated he would reluctantly comply with New York’s new anti-ICE law. But in doing so, he intends to join a federal lawsuit challenging the measure.

The law in question bans local police from entering into or continuing their cooperation agreements with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Nassau was one of nine New York counties that had the agreements, which allowed state law enforcement agencies to detain illegal immigrants and conduct other immigration enforcement activities in coordination with the federal government.

Hochul’s statewide ban on the 287(g) cooperation agreements took effect Tuesday, forcing Blakeman to abide by the new law.

“This is one of the saddest days of my life as county executive,” the Republican official said at a Wednesday press conference.

“I am a law-and-order county executive,” he added. “I believe in the rule of law — even when it’s a bad law. And this is a very, very bad and dangerous law. But we don’t get to pick and choose the laws that we have to enforce or abide by.”

Ministry of Justice data shows one in five Muslim prisoners in England and Wales is white. That’s nearly four times the rate in the general population. White Muslim inmates went from 2,767 in 2022 to 3,218 by June 2025. Overall, Muslim numbers in prison rose from 14,037 to 16,051 in the same stretch. They’re now about 18 percent of the prison population in a country where Muslims are only 6.5 percent of everyone else.

Timothy says the gap “raises serious questions.” Experts have been warning for a long time about Muslim gangs pushing conversions behind bars. He wants the Labour government to look into it properly. The Ministry of Justice’s answer is the usual line: they don’t tolerate intimidation or faith-based coercion. Okay. That still doesn’t explain the figures.

Not every conversion is forced, of course. Some guys convert for the structure, the food, or just to have people watching their back. Some white Muslims grew up in the faith. Fair enough. It still doesn’t account for the size of the shift.

Jonathan Hall KC, who reviews terrorism legislation, found Muslims running parts of prisons as self-styled “emirs.” They pull in lonely or vulnerable inmates with food, advice, small gifts — and sometimes the threat of violence.

For all his self-created lore of being a consummate dealmaker, President Donald Trump actually sucks at deals, mostly using legal threats and actions to bully his way to his preferred outcomes.

And those outcomes aren’t even particularly good ones. There is that famous calculation that Trump would’ve made far more money had he simply put his inherited wealth into an index fund. And we’ve seen just how much he sucks at negotiating with his failed Iran and Gaza deals.

In office, his version of lawyerly threats when dealing with foreign countries is tariffs. The Supreme Court may have severely limited his ability to wield them indiscriminately as a way to bully other nations, but that doesn’t mean he’s stopped trying. His latest target is Canada, after yet another failed round of negotiations.

Canada has already retaliated, and its tariffs may have far more political bite than Trump’s.

Trump has already imposed 50% tariffs on Canadian goods. But his biggest new threat—a 50% tariff on Canadian vehicles, auto parts, and steel—isn’t supposed to hit until Jan. 1, 2027. And given his long history of backtracking on tariff decisions, there is little reason for Canada to assume those tariffs will ever be enacted as advertised. Heck, there’s a decent chance the courts get involved before they see the light of day.

But there’s an obvious political benefit to waiting until Jan. 1: the November midterm elections.

We know that Trump has finally figured out that tariffs increase prices, given his decision to import foreign beef while removing tariffs in order to try to give voters an affordability win before the elections. The last thing his party needs is further price increases on top of current inflation trends.

An armed man arrested at President Donald Trump’s California golf club allegedly had first lady Melania Trump’s schedule and a trove of sensitive information about the Secret Service agents assigned to protect the president, prosecutors revealed Wednesday.

Jeanine John Taele, 38, possessed seven notebooks containing 208 pages of writings, drawings and sketches connected to Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes, according to reports.

The material included copies of Melania Trump’s schedule, lists of Secret Service schedules and details about individual security personnel, prosecutors said during a Los Angeles County court hearing.

Taele’s writings also contained detailed lists about surviving “off the grid,” The Associated Press reported.

Los Angeles County Judge John Lonergan Jr. called the allegations “alarming” during Wednesday’s hearing.

“This case itself is alarming in this day and age with the violence that is creeping into our everyday lives, especially with our partisanship in the political environment” ahead of the midterms, Lonergan said, according to the AP.

Hochul announced that a new state law that bars police from cooperating with ICE agents has gone into effect. She did this because, according to the left, no human is illegal. Per CBS:

It bans local government agencies from maintaining agreements with ICE for civil enforcement. It also prohibits ICE agents from using local detention centers for civil enforcement, including mass raids.

“Local police will assist ICE only if a real crime has been committed,” Hochul said. “But on civil immigration matters, ICE is on their own.”

The problem with this claim is that breaking federal immigration laws is a crime. Can someone please clear that up for the Governor?

She said the law will help protect immigrants from aggressive enforcement while they pursue asylum claims.

What a bunch of nonsense. This is nothing more than an effort to vilify federal agents, while turning a blind eye to criminal aliens who have disregarded this country’s laws from the very start.

Back in July, state officials sent letters to 12 local law enforcement agencies that have agreements with ICE. The letters stated that they must unwind the agreements by Aug. 25.

If you want to know what a “rigged” election looks like, look no further than the U.S. Senate primary race still underway in Alaska. As of this writing, the Republican incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan trails Mary Peltola, a Democrat and former member of the House, by about 5 points.

Some 30,000 votes are still uncounted, but it won’t change the fundamentals going into the November general election thanks to Alaska’s insane and fraudulent ranked-choice voting regime. In Alaska, the primary purpose of ranked-choice voting (or RCV) is to prevent conservative Republicans from winning statewide office and to keep Sen. Lisa Murkowski in Washington.

Full disclosure: I grew up in Alaska and live there now, and while I’m immensely proud to be from this great state and great land in the majestic northern marches of America, our voting system here is an embarrassment.

Ranked-choice voting, or RCV, replaced our party primary system with an open or “jungle primary” in which any resident of the state can sign up as a candidate and appear on the ballot. But we have RCV, which means after the primary the top four candidates advance to the general election, in which voters are supposed to rank their preferred candidates instead of simply choosing one.

That means you could potentially have two Republicans and one Democrat on the general election ballot, which all but guarantees the Democrat will win. And of course that’s exactly how Mary Peltola was elected in 2022. She ran in a special election to replace the late Rep. Don Young, a Republican who had held Alaska’s sole U.S. House seat for 49 years. The Republican vote split between Sarah Palin and Nick Begich (now a member of the House), and Peltola eked out a victory in the “second round” of vote-counting.

Police in Bihar, home to about 130 million people, used water cannons as a few thousand protestors broke through security barricades in the regional capital Patna, an AFP reporter saw.

The protests came a month after massive youth-led demonstrations in New Delhi forced the ouster of India’s education minister over alleged irregularities in conducting key competitive examinations.

Footage from local media showed demonstrators in Patna demanding access to government jobs, the cancellation of a key recruitment exam and changes to the examination format announcement by the government.

Local police accused some protestors of attacking security personnel.

Assembly Bill 2624, dubbed the “Stop Nick Shirley Act” by Republican Assemblyman Carl DeMaio, expands California’s Safe at Home program to certain nonprofit employees who assist people navigating the U.S. immigration system.

The law will take effect Oct. 1, 2027, after Newsom leaves office because of term limits.

Democratic Assemblywoman Mia Bonta, who introduced the bill in February, said the protections are necessary because immigration service providers face harassment and threats.

“Our immigrant service providers are living in fear because of extremists looking to demonize the work that they do and the populations they serve,” Bonta said Saturday.

The measure imposes penalties on people who distribute information or images of covered immigration workers under circumstances the law defines as inciting violence or threats. Penalties can range from $10,000 to $50,000, with violations potentially carrying jail or prison sentences.

Michael Alter, the owner of the Chicago Sky, stated Tuesday that former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom is banned from Wintrust Arena following Sunday’s confrontation with guard Natasha Cloud.

After Cloud scored, the Fever called a timeout, and she ended up directing her energy at Freedom, who was sitting around the basket. Freedom got out of his seat and began walking toward Cloud, and immediately, security and Sky players got in the middle of the two.

Most Americans are pretty good at leaving each other alone. Vote differently, worship differently, live differently, and go home to your family. But there are lines decent people recognize without needing a political consultant to explain them. Hurt children, brutalize women, or torment a grieving family.





Something basic in us recoils.

Hasan Piker found one of those lines Friday night in San Francisco and danced on it.

During a live performance of his Fears& podcast, Piker led a packed theater in a mocking rendition of “We Are Charlie Kirk,” a tribute song that appeared after Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University last Sept. 10.

His co-hosts laughed, the audience cheered and sang along, and Piker later posted a photo from the show with the caption, “Carried the flame tn.”

Jonathan Turley says what many of us are thinking:

What is exasperating is how hatemongers on the left want to enjoy hate speech while accusing others of hate and intolerance. They do so by excusing their actions or views by demonizing those who disagree. Democratic leaders continue the false claim that democracy is dying in America and that this may be our last free election. While made over multiple elections, the claim of the imminent death of democracy (unless they are elected) does not appear to register with their supporters.

Recently the rhetoric has reached hysterical levels. Florida Democratic Senate candidate Angie Nixon has compared Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to “modern-day slave catchers” and the government is “literally trying to kill us.”

It is a narrative that allows you to speak like a Nazi while claiming to be fighting Nazis.

Piker thrilled the crowd by mocking a murdered man over his faith and his death. It is more than being simply classless. It is commodifying rage. Piker is reportedly raking in a fortune as are other hatemongers like Jennifer Welch. They traffic in rage to a nation of rage addicts.

It is a scene that only reaffirms the work of Kirk who sought to expose the hate and intolerance of the left, particularly on our campuses. Kirk infuriated many by challenging them to debate. There is no room for reason in an age of rage. Those who try to introduce opposing views on campuses are cancelled or attacked.





The timing makes the performance even uglier. Turning Point USA is preparing to return to Utah Valley University on Sept. 10 for a memorial marking one year since Kirk was murdered there.

The conservative youth organization said the “Freedom Built to Last” gathering will remember Kirk as a Christian husband and father, a free-speech advocate, and a leader who helped build a movement among young Americans.

“The gathering will honor Charlie as a faith-filled husband, father, and defender of free speech,” Turning Point said in Friday’s release, calling the event “a deliberate act of remembrance, and a call for students and supporters to continue his life’s work.”

The memorial will be held at UVU’s UCCU Center, about a five-minute walk from the amphitheater where Kirk was fatally shot while speaking to thousands of students during the opening stop of his “All-American Comeback Tour.”

Speakers will include conservative talk-show host and Blaze Media founder Glenn Beck; Christian author Frank Turek, a friend and mentor to Kirk; and Turning Point Chief Field Officer Andrew Sypher.

Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow and now CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA, will help lead an organization and a family into an anniversary nobody should ever have to mark.

Piker knew what he was mocking, and so did the crowd.

The backlash from conservatives intensified as video of Piker’s disturbing display ricocheted across the internet Saturday.

Appalled by Piker’s deliberate mockery of the man who had once been his close friend and mentor, Turning Point spokesman Andrew Kolvet wrote, “Hasan Piker is engaging in pure, unadulterated evil. ‘Whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.’ Proverbs 17:5”

Conservative firebrand Jack Posobiec noted in the X post below, “Here is Hasan Piker now mocking the murder of Charlie Kirk as we approach the 1 year anniversary of his assassination. The Bolsheviks will kill us all and they will laugh about it.”

Responding to Posobiec, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) wrote, “These aren’t just people who disagree with us politically. They are enemies of everything that is good and holy about our civilization. And they will stop at nothing to destroy it.

His political record deserves attention because he’s no longer merely an internet provocateur shouting into a camera. Piker has said Hamas is “1,000 times better” than Israel, said he had no issues with Hezbollah, compared liberal Zionists to “liberal Nazis,” and previously apologized for calling ultra-Orthodox Jews “inbred.“

Piker rejected accusations that he’s antisemitic and says he opposes anti-Jewish violence. His own words still leave a remarkable record for others to judge.





Michigan Democratic Sen. nominee Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed chose to campaign with Piker at Michigan State University and the University of Michigan in April. El-Sayed defended the appearance as a way to reach young people who feel shut out of politics.

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) hasn’t swallowed the Democrat Party.

Very few Democrat candidates are members. Its growing influence, however, is becoming hard to dismiss. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland said Sunday that the DSA deserves a place in the debate over his party’s return.

The country remains far less enthusiastic. A July poll found only 27% of Americans believe democratic socialists have at least some good ideas, while 51% say they have few or none.

The new addition to Beijing’s arsenal comes at a time when the US is struggling with supplies of crucial air defence missiles and long-range strike weapons following the six months of war with Iran.

It can be a threat to aircraft such as aerial refueling tankers, airborne early-warning and control jets and flying command posts, including the US Air Force’s E-4B Nightwatch.

German GDP growth revised upwards, defying Iran war turmoil

German growth rose faster than previously thought in the second quarter thanks to strong exports, official data showed, as Europe’s biggest economy defied the turmoil unleashed by the Iran war.

Gross domestic product grew 0.3 percent from April to June compared with the first three months of the year, according to revised data from the statistics office Destatis. A first estimate in July had put growth at 0.2 percent.

What could new US sanctions on Iran entail?

The US says it is preparing to announce new sanctions on Iran. It’s been billed an “economic D-day” and is expected to add further pressure on the country’s economy that’s already been battered from previous sanctions and a US naval blockade.

The renewed economic pressure would not be the first time the US has used economic tools at its disposal to corner Iran.

US sanctions oil trader Wellbred over Iran links

The US imposed sanctions ​on Singapore-based Wellbred Capital and its trading firms in the ​United Arab Emirates and Switzerland, citing links with Iran, as it steps up measures to target Tehran’s global financial links.

The company ​had ties ‌to Iranian oil shipping magnate Mohammad Hossein ⁠Shamkhani, the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control said on its website ‌on Monday.

“Shamkhani built Wellbred as a company outside ⁠the network’s Iranian business, though Shamkhani is ultimately responsible for Wellbred’s operations,” it added in a statement ​outlining the measures targeting nearly 60 companies, individuals ‌and ships.

Six months of war: 20 dead in 68 incidents near Hormuz, IMO says

The Strait of Hormuz has been the main focus of the six-month war between Iran and the US and Israel, with many commercial vessels targeted in the vital conduit for oil and gas shipments.

In total, 68 incidents have been confirmed by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in the Gulf and neighbouring bodies of water, the equivalent of one every 2.6 days.

Across all incidents, at least 20 seafarers or port workers were reported killed, 35 wounded and one missing, the UN maritime agency said.

About half of the incidents have involved tankers, 20 percent container ships and 15 percent bulk carriers.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) classified 47 of the incidents as attacks.

Liberia-flagged vessels have been most affected, being involved in 13 incidents, followed by 10 vessels each from Panama and the Marshall Islands.

Iran-flagged vessels were reported as being involved in four incidents.

One very large gas carrier entered ​the strait ‌from the Gulf of Oman on Monday, ‌initial data from ​shiptracker Kpler showed at 0251 GMT, compared with six ​vessels of ​all types ​on Sunday. The figures could ​change as some ships had switched off transponders on their ⁠way through.

An oil tanker was struck and disabled by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman, causing damage but no casualties, a British maritime agency said early Tuesday.

“The Master of an oil tanker reports the vessel has been struck by an unknown projectile causing damage to the engine room and disabling the vessel,” with the crew reported as safe, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said.

The incident occurred nine nautical miles (16.7 kilometres) northeast of Ash Shishah in Oman, it said.

The online statement did not specify the vessel’s nationality or direction of travel.

Oil prices steady as investors weigh impact of expanded US sanctions against Iran

Oil prices steadied on Tuesday, after falling more than 2% in the previous session, as investors assessed the impact of harsher US secondary sanctions against Iran.

Brent crude futures were down 9 cents, or 0.1%, at $92.16 by 0104 ​GMT, while US ‌West Texas Intermediate crude was up 1 cent at $85.02 a barrel.

Both contracts fell ⁠more than 2% on Monday with US crude oil falling to a one-week low on profit taking after prices rallied over the previous two weeks.

The biennial Ssangyong drills involve marine forces from South Korea and the US and are designed to strengthen combined operations, typically involving warships, aircraft and ground forces rehearsing amphibious landings.

The cancellation follows US President Donald Trump’s order last week to scale down the separate annual Ulchi Freedom Shield exercises, cutting the joint drills from 11 days to five.
