Iran is likely to face challenges in clearing its oil inventories even after restrictions on its exports are lifted, as its biggest customer tweaks its energy strategy while oil from other suppliers floods the market, according to analysts.
China, the world’s top crude importer, has not been particularly enthusiastic about purchasing Iranian oil, despite traditionally being the main buyer of the country’s energy. “In fact, the Chinese do not show any enthusiasm to buy much oil from anybody,” Fereidun Fesharaki, chairman emeritus at FGE NexantECA, said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia.”
China’s crude imports have dwindled since the Iran war started in late February, depressing oil demand. In May, they plunged 29% from a year earlier to 7.82 million barrels per day, the lowest level since February 2018, according to Wind Information.

Over this weekend of celebration, the paper’s America coverage read less like curiosity and more like a bill of indictment. President Donald Trump’s Mount Rushmore speech was framed as a “partisan attack.” America at 250 was described as “a solid global citizen gone rogue.” Another headline said Trump “hijacked” the anniversary for “political ideology and pet projects.”
The mood didn’t improve when the subject moved from speeches to people on the National Mall. One story led with “a total disappointment” as Americans dealt with brutal heat at the Great American State Fair.
Another July 4 opinion headline declared, “America is destroying itself. It’s no surprise.”
For a newspaper covering a 250th birthday, it certainly sounded eager to write the obituary before the fireworks went off.
The country is marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence. The White House’s Freedom 250 page described a full year of events meant to honor American history, faith, innovation, and the next 250 years.

Minnesota officials, including Democrat Gov. Tim Walz, last month pardoned an illegal immigrant who was previously convicted of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl and who was slated to be deported.
With the recommendation of the Minnesota Clemency Review Commission (CRC), the Minnesota Board of Pardons — led by Walz, state Attorney General Keith Ellison and state Chief Justice Natalie Hudson — granted a pardon for Laos national Tou Lue Vang, 42, at its June 10 meeting, according to a letter informing Vang of the decision from Carli Stark, the executive director of the state CRC.
The pardon essentially gives Vang a clean slate.
“Being granted a pardon is a notable achievement and a reflection of the work you have done since your conviction,” Stark wrote in her letter to Vang.

Three graduate students sat around a table with the great historian Forrest McDonald. In the twilight of his career, he no longer taught anyone that he didn’t himself choose. That mostly meant only a handful of master’s and doctoral level students. I was fortunate to be one of them. In a 2016 obituary, the New York Times called him the “historian who punctured liberal notions,” and no notion, liberal or otherwise, did he take more glee in puncturing than poor scholarship. On this occasion, McDonald, who wasn’t particularly religious, began our discussion by holding up a copy of Barbara Tuchman’s bestseller A Distant Mirror, a history of the fourteenth century, and read aloud this passage from her forward:
“While I recognize [Christianity’s] presence [in the Middle Ages], it requires a more religious bent than mine to identify with it.”
McDonald closed the book demonstratively and tossed it on the table.
“And with that,” he declared, “read no further and throw it in the trash. Tuchman casually informs the reader in the opening pages that she hasn’t bothered to understand the mindset of the period about which she has presumed to write a history. Since the Christian faith is unimportant to her, she dismisses it as unimportant to her subject. What insight can she possibly offer about the motivations of the people of that time? Tuchman is admitting that she has no authority to write such a book.”1

An illegal immigrant disarmed a Boston US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a targeted enforcement operation on Wednesday in Massachusetts. The subject pulled a firearm out of an agent’s holster during a chaotic scuffle as he resisted arrest, video shows.
Federal law enforcement sources told The Post Millennial that the subject is a previously deported criminal foreign national. The incident occurred on Main Street in Everett, MA, a town located just north of the sanctuary city of Boston.
Video footage taken by a bystander captured the intense physical confrontation. Multiple ICE officers could be observed subduing the resisting subject on the ground beside a pickup truck on a residential street.

What I mean by that, in 1793 and ’94, when the French Revolution was well on its way to fruition, a group of radicals called Jacobins, led by the Robespierre brothers, hijacked that revolution and decided that they were going to go far, far to the left of the effort to abolish the monarchy and rename the days of the week, the months, start with a year zero concept, go out and attack private property, and execute people.
Now, I don’t think the democratic socialists are going to do that, but their takeover is similar to the Jacobin takeover. And what is their agenda? Their agenda is a radical Green New Deal, war on fossil fuels, open borders, no deportations, no deportations even for criminally convicted.

The body said it received a report of the incident 30 nautical miles (56 km) southwest of the port city of Al Hudaydah in Yemen.
“A cargo vessel has triggered a distress alert stating that they are under attack by unknown assailants,” the UKMTO said in a post on X, adding that authorities are investigating the incident.
It urged vessels to “transit with caution”.
