Democrat Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stated Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she found the city’s anti-Trump “No Kings” protest on Saturday to be “overwhelmingly peaceful” while observing the situation from the comfort of a helicopter.

Protests and riots have been ongoing in downtown Los Angeles since June 6, leaving the area filled with vandalism, burnt Waymo cars and looted stores. As Los Angeles had its own installment of the national “No Kings” protests on Saturday, Bass described how she had spent time in a helicopter “in search” of the 700 Marines that President Donald Trump deployed to the city to restore order on Monday.

“I have to say that yesterday I spent time in the helicopter, so I went all over the city in search of these Marines. And I’m sorry, but I just didn’t see them. What the troops are doing, the Federalized National Guard, is protecting the federal building,” Bass said.

“I think that detention that happened was an isolated incident, and I believe it was outside of the city of Los Angeles, but I do want to dispel the notion that the military is here,” Bass added. “We don’t want them here. They don’t need to be here. Our local law enforcement have complete control of this situation.”

In addition to the Marines being deployed, Trump had called in 2,000 National Guard members to downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, with Bass and Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom criticizing the decision. (RELATED: How Well-Funded, Organized Leftists Helped Jumpstart LA Riots)

Backed by nearly 200 groups with billions of dollars in collective resources, the No Kings protests on June 14 aimed to reignite defeated Democrats by mobilizing them against President Donald Trump. Yet, the rallies fell flat, with over 98% of Americans staying home, revealing a discouraged progressive base struggling to find footing.

No Kings’ organizers touted the nationwide rallies as a triumph, celebrating a turnout of about five million, according to the unconfirmed best estimates of the American Civil Liberties Union.

‘Today’s protests are a resounding message that people across the nation will not be intimidated by President Trump’s fear tactics.’

However, against the backdrop of such immense investments, the attendance revealed the left’s widespread protest fatigue and lack of direction, with most Americans paying little attention to the gatherings.

No Kings aims to mobilize 3.5% of the U.S. population. However, its well-funded and meticulously organized Saturday protests reached just under 1.5% by its own estimates.

President Donald Trump used his Truth Social account on Sunday to send an exhortation to members of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to focus on deep blue urban areas that shelter illegal immigrants.

Trump noted the headwinds facing ICE as agents perform their work.

“Our Nation’s ICE Officers have shown incredible strength, determination, and courage as they facilitate a very important mission, the largest Mass Deportation Operation of Illegal Aliens in History,” Trump wrote.

“Every day, the Brave Men and Women of ICE are subjected to violence, harassment, and even threats from Radical Democrat Politicians, but nothing will stop us from executing our mission, and fulfilling our Mandate to the American People,” he added.

Trump then said that despite everything already accomplished, much more remains to be done.

… For example, in Salt Lake City, shots were fired during the “No Kings” protest. In Portland, things escalated into full-blown riots after demonstrators attacked federal officers stationed at the ICE facility—prompting a response of tear gas and non-lethal rounds. And in Los Angeles, despite the chaos elsewhere, Mayor Karen Bass still insisted the “No Kings” protests were “overwhelmingly peaceful.”

“I will tell you, 30,000 people were downtown LA. There were protests in 15 different locations in our city. I flew over each one of them, and they were overwhelmingly peaceful,” Bass told CNN’s Dana Bash. “It’s not shocking that at the end of a protest that you’re going to have some confrontation. Of course, I wish there was none at all, but I don’t think that characterized the day at all,” Bass said. “I mean, otherwise, more than five people would have been arrested.”

A person shot and killed an innocent bystander during a “No Kings” protest in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday.

The person suspected of being a protest “peacekeeper” fired his weapon three times after Arturo Gamboa, 24, pulled out a rifle from his backpack. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday when Gamboa, who was marching in the protest, stepped off to the side near a wall and pulled out a rifle. Two supposed peacekeepers in vests confronted Gamboa before shooting at him, inflicting a minor injury on Gamboa and also fatally striking Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, 39, a fashion designer from Samoa. Ah Loo later died at the hospital.

Gamboa was arrested on a murder charge for his actions, which led to Ah Loo’s death. The peacekeepers, who were asked not to bring weapons, are cooperating with authorities in the investigation. Sarah Parker, a national coordinator for the 50501 Movement and a partner for the “No Kings” protest, said the peacekeepers likely prevented a mass casualty event.

“Our safety team did as best as they could in a situation that is extremely sad and extremely scary,” said Parker.

The masked man on the motorcycle, the one who waved a Mexican flag in front of a torched car as Los Angeles police stood by, will soon be famous. His identity remains unknown, his image iconic – but for all the wrong reasons.

Republicans will replay the clip again and again in campaign ads ahead of the midterms.

“This lawlessness is exactly what Americans rejected in 2024,” said Michael Whatley, chairman of the Republican National Committee. “While Democrats sow chaos, Republicans stand as the party of law and order.” President Trump is delivering on his campaign promise to crack down on illegal immigration, Whatley told RealClearPolitics, and ahead of the midterms, his party “will continue to run on this winning message and finish the job for the American people.”

As National Guard were being deployed to quell violence in California, Republicans were mobilizing to capture and catalog video of looting, rioting, and violence. One RNC official told RCP they were struggling to capture the flood of content coming across cable news.

“It was just non-stop,” they said. “There was so much.”

That content from the LA riots will soon provide fodder for the contrast Republicans hope to paint in November of next year, illustrating the failed immigration policies they allege California Gov. Gavin Newsom now embodies. For his part, Newsom blames Trump for inflaming an already “combustible situation.”

More than four dozen Marines refused to abandon their post as hundreds of protesters in front of the federal building in downtown Los Angles chanted in unison for them to go home.

The soldiers bad been dispatched early in the week by President Donald Trump along with the National Guard to help quell violent riots that broke out last week over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens in the city.

According to reporting by Reuters, Los Angeles attorney Jesus Arias spearheaded Sunday’s confrontation, wielding a bullhorn as he tried to convince the Marines to leave.

“We are not your enemy, we are the people!” Arias shouted through the bullhorn. “You are breaking the oaths you took to be Marines. Wake up! Wake up!”

The large crowd protesters nearby were not so polite. Fifteen feet away from the Marines a crowd chanted, “Marines go home!” and “Shame! Shame!”

Every day, the Brave Men and Women of ICE are subjected to violence, harassment, and even threats from Radical Democrat Politicians, but nothing will stop us from executing our mission, and fulfilling our Mandate to the American People. ICE Officers are herewith ordered, by notice of this TRUTH, to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.

In order to achieve this, we must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America’s largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside. These, and other such Cities, are the core of the Democrat Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base, cheat in Elections, and grow the Welfare State, robbing good paying Jobs and Benefits from Hardworking American Citizens. These Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities — And they are doing a good job of it! There is something wrong with them. That is why they believe in Open Borders, Transgender for Everybody, and Men playing in Women’s Sports — And that is why I want ICE, Border Patrol, and our Great and Patriotic Law Enforcement Officers, to FOCUS on our crime ridden and deadly Inner Cities, and those places where Sanctuary Cities play such a big role. You don’t hear about Sanctuary Cities in our Heartland!

I want our Brave ICE Officers to know that REAL Americans are cheering you on every day. The American People want our Cities, Schools, and Communities to be SAFE and FREE from Illegal Alien Crime, Conflict, and Chaos. That’s why I have directed my entire Administration to put every resource possible behind this effort, and reverse the tide of Mass Destruction Migration that has turned once Idyllic Towns into scenes of Third World Dystopia. Our Federal Government will continue to be focused on the REMIGRATION of Aliens to the places from where they came, and preventing the admission of ANYONE who undermines the domestic tranquility of the United States.

To ICE, FBI, DEA, ATF, the Patriots at Pentagon and the State Department, you have my unwavering support. Now go, GET THE JOB DONE! DJT

As White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noted, over 300 illegal aliens have been arrested in LA since the violent anti-ICE riots began on June 6. Over 100 of these illegal alien criminals had a rap sheet.

While Trump and his administration continue to receive backlash for bringing in troops to handle the rioters and illegal aliens, it appears Democrats have forgotten that another leader called in the National Guard to deal with illegal aliens in recent years. When this occurred, there was no outrage.

A report from the New York Post published in September of 2022 claims that then-Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) activated the National Guard to deal with the “humanitarian crisis” that occurred when 50 illegal aliens were flown to Martha’s Vineyard by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

The residents of Martha’s Vineyard flew off the handle about this. In a short amount of time, the illegal aliens were sent to Cape Cod.

…Such a moment happened with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) when she uttered the now-immortal words: “Don’t believe what you see.” She meant it. And it tells you everything you need to know about the mind of the modern social justice politician.

Let’s set the scene. Fires rage across Los Angeles. A man stands triumphantly on a car, waving a Mexican flag, while other cars burn around him. The air is thick with smoke and shattered glass. You don’t need a Ph.D. in criminal justice to conclude that this isn’t a peaceful gathering of concerned citizens asking to debate policy.

And yet, speaking in the midst of smoldering chaos, Waters and her fellow Democrat officials — Governor Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass — chant the same refrain: There’s nothing to see here.

Waters, attempting to rewrite reality in real time, gave us this gem:

Even those who were out of step with what we are advocating — peaceful protest — did not create any violence. Nobody was shot. Nobody was killed. … I was on the street, I know … talking to people about what happened. … Don’t just rely on what you’ve been told or the few incidents that you saw.

An innocent bystander who was shot during a “No Kings” protest in Utah has died, police said Sunday.

The victim, identified as Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, was shot during the Saturday protest, which attracted around 10,000 people, and died later that night, Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd said.

“Our victim was not the intended target,” said Redd, who added that Ah Loo, 39, was just participating in the march.

Redd said Ah Loo was mistakenly shot by one of two event peacekeepers in neon vests who opened fire after a suspect, identified as Arturo Gamboa, 24, ran toward the crowd with a rifle.

They saw Gamboa pull out a rifle before raising it in a firing position before moving toward a crowd of protesters, Redd said. One of the men in the vests fired three times, striking Gamboa and the victim, who later died.

Two immigrants who escaped the Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark, New Jersey, were recaptured by authorities Friday.

Last week, unrest at the immigration detention center resulted in four detainees escaping. Authorities with the FBI did not publicize the renewed detention of the two recaptured immigrants until Sunday. It also remains to be seen how they were captured. The final two remain at large as of Monday morning.

Detainees were protesting the center’s conditions because they were reportedly denied food. While the immigrants inside the center demonstrated by pushing over a wall and hanging bed sheets, protesters were outside the facility and prevented a facility vehicle from following the detainees as they escaped.

The two who were recaptured were Joel Enrique Sandoval-Lopez from Honduras and Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada from Colombia. Sandoval-Lopez is facing charges of unlawful possession of a handgun and aggravated assault from two separate instances. Castaneda-Lozada has charges of burglary, theft, and conspiracy against him.

Franklin Norberto Bautista-Reyes from Honduras and Andres Felipe Pineda Mogollon from Colombia have not been found. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to their capture. Bautista-Reyes is charged with aggravated assault, attempt to cause bodily injury, terroristic threats, and a weapons crime. Pineda Mogollon is facing charges of minor larceny and burglary.

Republican governors are flexing their muscles ahead of anti-Trump “No Kings” protests set for this weekend, telling protesters to “think twice” before considering echoing recent strains of violence found in Los Angeles.

The governors of South Carolina, Texas, and Utah have issued warnings against violence ahead of the protests on Saturday. In the wake of California riots and attacks on authorities that broke out in reaction to Trump’s immigration agenda, the Republican leaders said similar acts of violence in their states will be met with a swift response from law enforcement.

Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC) said on Tuesday that he would put South Carolina on an elevated sense of alert “if it’s necessary.” His comments came hours after South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson issued a statement saying his office is aware of potential “coordinated protests and acts of civil disobedience” planned for Saturday, adding that protestors who attack law enforcement, destroy property, or endanger lives will be prosecuted “to the fullest extent of the law.”

“If people want to protest and want to voice their opinion, that’s fine. But when you start destroying property, scaring people, hurting people that’s when law enforcement swings into action,” McMaster said. “I would urge people who want to cause trouble in our state to think twice because this is not the place to cause trouble. You will be held accountable.”

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) revealed that the Texas National Guard would be deployed across the Lone Star state to quell possible violence, while Gov. Spencer Cox (R-UT) also had a message to send protestors: “Just a word of warning to anybody who is thinking about any type of violence or chaos or property damage or vandalism,” he said during a news conference.

“It will not happen here, and you will be held accountable,” Cox said. “We are going to be overprepared.”

This April, the acting director of the Executive Office for Immigration Review issued a memo clarifying the requirement of immigration judges to effectively manage their crushing caseloads by dismissing legally insufficient applications for protection from removal or for asylum.

This is the most significant action taken by any administration to give immigration judges the tools that all other judges have in their tool kit to dismiss meritless cases on their existing dockets and swat away specious claims in the future.

Take the fact that there are over four million pending cases on immigration review docket, and the fact that, in 2022, about 68% of removal and deportation cases resulted in removal orders, and only about 14% of asylum claims were granted. Based on my conversations with immigration chief judges, if immigration judges do their duty, they could trim the existing dockets by up to 70% and could dismiss over 2.8 million cases.

For over six years, we have been urging the Department of Justice and administrations across both parties to give immigration judges the same tools that all state and federal judges have to manage their dockets. The three tools are summary judgment authority, the ability to dismiss a clearly non-meritorious case based on the pleadings (the written paperwork filed with the court), and contempt authority. See here, here, here and here.

The Trump administration is rolling back Biden-era regulations that would have tightened emissions restrictions on coal and gas power plants and forced hundreds of existing coal plants to shutter in the coming years.

In an announcement Wednesday afternoon, EPA administrator Lee Zeldin said his agency will repeal both greenhouse gas emissions standards targeting the power sector and so-called Mercury and Air Toxics Standards that apply to coal-fired power plants. According to the EPA, the regulations raise the cost of living for Americans, threaten grid reliability, and limit “American energy prosperity.”

The agency projected its actions will save the American power sector more than $1.2 billion a year in regulatory compliance costs over the next two decades. It also said the actions will ensure that existing gas and coal power plants—dozens of which are scheduled to be retired this year alone—will remain in operation.

The EPA’s actions are the latest—and perhaps most significant—rejection of the Biden-era climate agenda. The previous administration sought to crack down on the fossil fuel power sector to achieve its goal of having a completely carbon-free U.S. power grid by 2035.

The actions also represent a fulfillment of one of President Donald Trump’s central energy-related campaign promises. The president accused the Biden administration last year of pursuing “a regulatory jihad to shut down power plants all across America.”

Just days after violent, anti-ICE riots first rocked Los Angeles, federal immigration agents announced a major enforcement operation deporting 122 illegal aliens to China, many of them convicted of crimes including murder, rape, and drug trafficking.

The June 3 deportation flight, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Dallas, was part of a nationwide push to protect American communities and restore law and order.

According to an official ICE press release, the group included 96 men and 26 women, ranging in age from 19 to 68. All had final orders of removal and were held in ICE detention centers across the country.

ICE agents arrested Garduno-Galvez on Monday, June 9, in Los Angeles, after pinpointing him as the individual suspected of assaulting law enforcement officers with an incendiary device on Saturday, June 7.

In a social media post, DHS shows Garduno-Galvez’s mugshot and a video of a man in a hooded sweatshirt and black mask standing near a tree with a Molotov cocktail in the grass, ready to be deployed. He flicks the lighter on and produces a flame in his hand for a moment.

Last night marked the 5th day of riots in Los Angeles, allegedly against recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arresting and deporting illegal immigrants in the area. But so far, the media have only criticized President Trump and ICE. They have come up with their own theories, their own grievances, and as usual, pushed their narrative against the President and one of his most popular policies. Do you know who might have a better idea of why there are protests and riots? Maybe the protesters and rioters!

Greg Gutfeld pointed to this exact issue yesterday, arguing that the media knows they will make ‘better’ arguments than the protesters, and they would like to keep it that way. He said, “They know the protesters are the worst spokesmen for the protest.”

An extensive street interview by an independent journalist and YouTuber, Nick Shirley, exposed what many of the protesters think, and their reasoning is worse than what Democrat officials and legacy media are saying. Many of the protesters are fighting because California is on “stolen land,” and therefore, ICE can’t deport those here illegally, because we are all here illegally. Huh? Some others don’t even know why they are participating, and just came out to show support. Many others, as seen in footage spreading across the internet, are participating in case an opportunity to get away with looting arises.

The Justice Department told a federal court on Wednesday that it should not grant a request from Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) to block President Donald Trump‘s use of troops to quell violence in Los Angeles, saying the claims of Newsom’s lawsuit are “baseless.”

California officials had filed a lawsuit in federal court on Monday against Trump’s use of the National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles to protect federal property amid protests, some of which turned violent, over immigration raids. Newsom and California Attorney General Rob Bonta asked District Judge Charles Breyer to issue a temporary restraining order quickly on Tuesday, but Breyer instead set a hearing for Thursday to consider the motion.

In a filing to the court Wednesday, the DOJ argued California officials were attempting to stop the president “from exercising his lawful statutory and constitutional power to ensure that federal personnel and facilities are protected.”

“There is no rioters’ veto to enforcement of federal law,” the DOJ said in its filing. “And the President has every right under the Constitution and by statute to call forth the National Guard and Marines to quell lawless violence directed against enforcement of federal law. Yet instead of working to bring order to Los Angeles, California and its Governor filed a lawsuit in San Francisco seeking a court order limiting the federal government’s ability to protect its property and officials.”

“The extraordinary relief Plaintiffs request would judicially countermand the Commander in Chief’s military directives – and would do so in the posture of a temporary restraining order, no less. That would be unprecedented. It would be constitutionally anathema. And it would be dangerous,” the DOJ added.

California’s Democrat Governor Newsom and failed Democrat LA Mayor Karen Bass have blamed the feds for the violence and filed a lawsuit against the President’s use of federal troops.

After disembarking Air Force One, President Trump told reporters that if he didn’t send federal troops in, “Los Angeles would be burning down right now, just like the houses burned down,” in reference to the wildfires earlier this year.

When asked if he thinks anything can go wrong by involving the military, the President responded, “it can only go right. By having the military, it de-escalates.” He continued, “These people are agitators, they’re troublemakers, I believe many of them are paid. “He supports the First Amendment. He supports the right of Americans to make their voices heard,” said Leavitt.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized on Wednesday that while President Donald Trump respects the First Amendment right to peaceful protest, he strongly opposes those who engage in criminal conduct. This comes as the Trump administration sent thousands of US National Guard troops and hundreds of US Marines to Los Angeles to quell the ongoing anti-ICE riots, which erupted on June 6 following large-scale apprehensions of illegal migrants in the county.

A reporter asked Leavitt during a White House press briefing, “Can you clarify what kind of protest President Trump does support of find acceptable?

Leavitt responded, “The president absolutely supports peaceful protest. He supports the First Amendment. He supports the right of Americans to make their voices heard.”

She then emphasized that Trump has a zero tolerance policy for violent protesters, saying, “He does not support assaulting law enforcement officers who are simply trying to do their job. It’s very clear to the president what he supports and what he does not. Unfortunately, for Democrats, that line has not been made clear, and they’ve allowed this unrest and violence to continue and the president has had to step in.”
