“As Texas Land Commissioner, I have a responsibility to protect every acre of state land entrusted to the General Land Office. For years, the ownership of these islands has been uncertain, limiting the ability to ensure they are properly monitored and protected,” Buckingham said in a Monday press release. “Now that the GLO has confirmed these nine islands belong to the State of Texas, we are notifying our law enforcement partners so that they can gain access to these state-owned properties to patrol, inspect and clear them of any illegal activity they may encounter, consistent with the law. According to a Trump administration official who spoke with the Post on the condition of anonymity, and to the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, the Department of Homeland Security is expected to extend Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, which shields noncitizens from certain countries from deportation, for around 100,000 Ukrainians whose protections were scheduled to expire Monday. An embassy spokeswoman said the extension is expected to last six months.

DHS did not confirm the extension. “An announcement on Ukraine’s TPS will be made at the appropriate time. Until such an announcement is made, Ukrainian individuals present in the U.S. under TPS remain under protection,” the department said in a statement.

The move follows DHS’s decision last month to let TPS remain in place for around 232,000 migrants from El Salvador. The administration never formally announced a decision, instead issuing what the Post described as a “last-minute notice.” The lack of a clear timeline has forced Salvadorans “to grapple with an uncertain future,” the Post reported. Sudanese TPS holders, also set to lose protections Monday, will keep them until further notice, DHS said.

In its unanimous ruling, a three-judge panel for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals held that Section 10 of the state’s No Vigilantes Act violates the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause, which specifies that federal law supersedes state law. The panel was comprised of Judge Jacqueline Nguyen, an Obama appointee, and Judges Mark Bennett and Daniel Collins, both Trump appointees.

According to The Hill, the Justice Department sued the Golden State last year after Democrat Gov. Minnesota authorities are warning about a growing threat from Somali street gangs as young members turn social media disputes into shootings across suburban Minneapolis-St. Paul, endangering residents and forcing police to redirect resources.

Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said the gang members under investigation come from families with money and resources, defying traditional explanations centered on poverty, drug trafficking, or financial gain.

“They’re coming from families,” Hodges told Fox News Digital.

“They got money, and they have resources.”

The violence has raised urgent questions about recruitment, assimilation, parental involvement, and whether local prosecution policies are hampering efforts to intervene.

Police Redirect Resources Toward Gangs

Hodges said police are shifting task force resources toward the gangs following a string of suburban shootings.

“I don’t know,” Hodges said when asked about the underlying motivation.
