Progressive California education activists are urging the state to recognize “black English” in preschool classrooms, claiming the approach would strengthen literacy development and affirm the language spoken by many black children.

Black Californians United for Early Care & Education (BlackECE), a nonprofit advocacy organization, is promoting what it describes as an effort to challenge “harmful language hierarchies and affirm black English as a legitimate, rule-governed language rooted in black history, culture, and community.”

The group also seeks to “address how language bias shows up in early learning spaces–and how it can be dismantled.”

Ashley Williams, a co-founder of BlackECE, said the initiative is intended to ensure children feel their voices are respected regardless of how they speak.

“I don’t want my son to walk into any room and feel like his voice is not valued or his perspective can’t be heard because he’s not saying it one way or the other,” Williams told PBS.

There’s been a lot come to light about the extensive fraud perpetrated on the American taxpayers: Medicare and Medicaid fraud, COVID relief fraud, food aid fraud, and, not least of all, daycare fraud. On the official establishment cable mouthpiece of the American left, the talking heads aren’t even hiding the fact that the Democrats live and die by the anti-Semitic crowd in 2026 — and will in 2028, too.

In a discussion late Tuesday on CNN, several pundits weighed in on whom the Democratic Party will pick as its presidential nominee next time around, especially in light of Democratic socialists taking several key House primary races.

All of the DSA-backed candidates have one thing in common, aside from having not a whit of economic common sense: They don’t like Israel or its supporters, for reasons one can reasonably guess at. Sure, like most Jew-haters, they hide behind a veneer of “anti-Zionism,” but the base these candidates count on certainly seems to excuse violence by thugs who take their rage out on innocent Jews, while excoriating Jewish Democrats, even those who are mostly pro-Palestinian in outlook.

During the discussion, according to a transcript of “The Story Is with Elex Michaelson,” host Elex Michaelson said that “some of the of the fringes of the DSA, not everybody in the DSA, are certainly pretty close to anti-Semitism, if not anti-Semitism.” It’s a development he called “a little scary.”

Slowly but surely, the DSA is taking over the Democratic Party one primary at a time. The problem with this is that most places are New York City. Sensible Americans don’t take kindly to their country being taken over by evil, naive fools. This is why Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger should have been more opposed to this takeover of her party, but she is welcoming all of it under the guise of being a so-called “big tent party.”

When Spanberger was asked if she was “concerned that the left is gaining power in your party,” she responded by stating, “I’m of the opinion that we are a big tent party; we’ve always been a big tent party.” It is unclear what this means, but we can assume she welcomes all diversity of thought, no matter how evil it is, so long as it does not benefit the other side. That will never be in the best interest of Americans, and there should be more outrage over this lack of outrage.

What is so astonishing is that so many leftist leaders are not objecting to newly elected officials working to undermine the integrity of this country. These are people who wish to turn this nation into the Third World, and the fact that this is condoned under the guise of a big tent will never be morally superior.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, said on Friday that the United States owes “everything” to black women.

Crockett said during Essence’s Festival of Culture that every American should celebrate Independence Day by thanking black women for their contributions, including inventions and for birthing American democracy.

“When it comes to answering the question of what America owes black women, the answer is everything,” Crockett said.

“When we think about the sacrifices that black women have made from the moment that we were stolen from our homelands and transported into this country, to the fact that black women continue to stand as the backbones, specifically of the Democratic Party, we know that black women are always the ones that are doing the labor, but we are also the ones that are always the first targets of any harm.”

“So, this Fourth of July, I say celebrate a black woman that you know, because whether it’s an invention that she made, or whether it’s the very democracy that still hangs by a thread right now. There is a black woman to thank for her contributions,” Crockett added.

The recent wave of primary victories by Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates has the media celebrating a web of grassroots populism and a supposed “working-class uprising.” But look past the revolutionary rhetoric, and you’ll find a much more sinister reality: Modern American socialism isn’t being driven by the proletariat; it is being bankrolled by a cabal of deep-pocketed, ultra-wealthy leftists.

Historically, socialism has never been about uplifting the poor; it is an insider game designed to consolidate state control while shielding the wealth of the ruling class and ransacking the middle class along the way. To pave the way for this scam, these trust-fund radicals must first destroy the independent American family.

To do that, they have weaponized a nasty little phrase in our modern, grievance-obsessed culture. Whenever a person achieves success, buys a home, or launches a business, the bitter arbiters of online misery waste no time throwing an insult disguised as an observation: “You’re just doing well because your parents had money to help you.”

… The Guardian found a way to arrive at America’s 250th birthday party and complain about the host, the music, the weather, the guest list, and the entire idea of celebrating.

Over this weekend of celebration, the paper’s America coverage read less like curiosity and more like a bill of indictment. President Donald Trump’s Mount Rushmore speech was framed as a “partisan attack.” America at 250 was described as “a solid global citizen gone rogue.” Another headline said Trump “hijacked” the anniversary for “political ideology and pet projects.

The mood didn’t improve when the subject moved from speeches to people on the National Mall. One story led with “a total disappointment” as Americans dealt with brutal heat at the Great American State Fair.

Another July 4 opinion headline declared, “America is destroying itself. It’s no surprise.”

For a newspaper covering a 250th birthday, it certainly sounded eager to write the obituary before the fireworks went off.

The country is marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence. The White House’s Freedom 250 page described a full year of events meant to honor American history, faith, innovation, and the next 250 years.

The partisan nature of the Elitist Media’s news coverage even trickles down to how pardons are covered. Any pardon issued by President Donald Trump will immediately raise the media’s hackles and draw significant coverage. Controversial pardons by Democrats? Not so much.

Minnesota officials, including Democrat Gov. Tim Walz, last month pardoned an illegal immigrant who was previously convicted of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl and who was slated to be deported.

With the recommendation of the Minnesota Clemency Review Commission (CRC), the Minnesota Board of Pardons — led by Walz, state Attorney General Keith Ellison and state Chief Justice Natalie Hudson — granted a pardon for Laos national Tou Lue Vang, 42, at its June 10 meeting, according to a letter informing Vang of the decision from Carli Stark, the executive director of the state CRC.

The pardon essentially gives Vang a clean slate.

“Being granted a pardon is a notable achievement and a reflection of the work you have done since your conviction,” Stark wrote in her letter to Vang.

Editor’s note: This is a lightly edited transcript of today’s video from Daily Signal senior contributor Victor Davis HansonSubscribe to our YouTube channel to see more of his videos.

Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for the Daily Signal.

We’re watching a modern-day French Revolutionary-like takeover of the Democratic Party. We could call it the Reign of Terror or the Democratic guillotine.

What I mean by that, in 1793 and ’94, when the French Revolution was well on its way to fruition, a group of radicals called Jacobins, led by the Robespierre brothers, hijacked that revolution and decided that they were going to go far, far to the left of the effort to abolish the monarchy and rename the days of the week, the months, start with a year zero concept, go out and attack private property, and execute people.

Now, I don’t think the democratic socialists are going to do that, but their takeover is similar to the Jacobin takeover. And what is their agenda? Their agenda is a radical Green New Deal, war on fossil fuels, open borders, no deportations, no deportations even for criminally convicted.

I started my career as a high school history teacher back in 1985. I taught my students about the Holocaust every year and was fortunate enough one summer to be selected for a special National Endowment for the Humanities seminar for teachers, led by Professor Lawrence Langer, a leading Holocaust scholar. Professor Langer came up with the term the “choiceless choice” to describe the no-win situations Jews were put in during the Holocaust, when there was simply no real choice to be made in the face of the genocidal Nazis. The idea has stuck with me for four decades.

It came to mind again when I read a recent Washington Post article following the Supreme Court’s adverse ruling in our case, BPJ v. West Virginia, on June 30, in which Julian Mark writes, “Critics, including some trans rights advocates, say the movement has rushed to tee up causes that the court’s 6-3 conservative majority is not ready to embrace.” While elements of the article were thoughtful, it is based on a flawed premise that warrants exploration.

First of all, the idea that “the [LGBTQ+] movement has rushed to tee up [trans] causes” is completely off the mark. There have been 2,446 bills designed to limit the rights of LGBTQ+ people introduced into state legislatures since 2022 — at least one in every single one of our 50 states — and 255 of them have become law in 27 states. The large majority of these laws are aimed at trans people. The LGBTQ+ movement didn’t “tee up” these laws: the opponents of the LGBTQ+ movement did, because they saw a political advantage to be won by picking on a small and relatively powerless minority and cynically exploited it. In other words, we didn’t pick this fight. We didn’t “tee up” trans issues. Our opponents did.

Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) laid out details on a new bill that would expand the U.S. Supreme Court, under a hypothetical Democrat president and Democrat-controlled Senate, by four justices in order to swing the court’s balance of power to the left.

“The Republicans stole two Supreme Court seats in 2016 and 2020. That’s what’s giving them their supermajority. The only way to solve this problem in a very short period of time is to expand the Supreme Court by four seats, up to 13,” Markey said during a recent appearance on MS-NOW.

“That would then restore the 7-6 majority, which should be in place right now. And we have to fight for that, and we can do that statutorily. It does not require a constitutional amendment,” he added. “That has to be at the top of the agenda, and that’s what I’m talking to my colleagues about right now.”

U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff “cast the deciding vote for the inflation disaster,” referring to the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

PolitiFact newbie Ben Brasch really had to stretch reality to come to Ossoff’s defense. The Senate vote on the “Inflation Reduction Act” was 50-50, so if he had voted against it, that vote would decide it. He was a deciding vote.

Ossoff supported the Inflation Reduction Act. Every Democratic vote was needed, but he was not the “deciding vote.” Harris, as vice president, came in to break the tie.
