Canadian and Chinese defence officials met in Ottawa on Sept. 4 for the fifth Canada-China Defence Coordination Dialogue.
The bilateral dialogue was established in 2013. Canada and China held four previous rounds — in 2013, 2014, 2016 and April 2018 — before the mechanism went dormant. The Sept. 4, 2026 meeting marked the first dialogue since then.
The eight-year gap refers specifically to the Defence Coordination Dialogue, not to an absence of all military or defence contact between Canada and China.
China is working on developing an AI-run robot army equipped with humanoid “soldiers” with AI brains. Reuters is claiming that an investigation of their procurement records reveal the army is already being built. They claimed they reviewed “more than 100 Chinese military procurement notices, academic studies, patents, official publications, government records and defense-company materials.” This led them to conclude China is building an AI robot army.

The Chinese Communist Party has been allowed to set up propaganda outreach programs in 83 U.S. Colleges according to a report by Defending Education.
The report claims the program is called “The Young Envoys Scholarship,” which sends 50,000 U.S. students to study or visit China. The program is “run by the China Education Association for International Exchange, an organization guided by ‘Marxism-Leninism’ and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism.”

A Chinese government program at 83 U.S. colleges is part of an “ongoing effort … to influence American students’ perceptions of the communist country,” according to a recent report by a conservative watchdog group.
The Young Envoys Scholarship is an international exchange initiative launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2024 to bring 50,000 U.S. students to study or participate in cultural visits to China, according to the Defending Education report.
It is “run by the China Education Association for International Exchange, an organization guided by ‘Marxism-Leninism’ and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism,” the report states.
Reagan Dugan, Director of Higher Education Initiatives at Defending Education, told The College Fix that the program is operating in American schools without students and families knowing its real agenda.
Dugan added that the program needs greater monitoring. “US oversight must apply the same diligence to American students traveling to China at the behest of the CCP that they do to foreign students studying in America,” she said.
A policy expert also raised national security concerns.
Due to a breach in security, the Department of Homeland Security has let states know it will be conducting spot paper ballot audits of U.S. voting machines this November.
The announcement comes following news Chinese parts have shown up in U.S. voting machines, giving the Chinese government potential opportunity to manipulate election results. This is a follow-up on the announcement President Trump made in July about Chinese interference in U.S. elections.

The Justice Department announced Wednesday that federal authorities seized internet domains associated with two Chinese hacking platforms used to target some of the nation’s most sensitive government institutions.
The platforms, known as QScan and QTRouter, were operated by a Chinese state-sponsored hacking group called QTFY, according to the Justice Department.
Federal officials said QTFY was employed by China-based Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company and provided computer intrusion services to paying customers, including China’s Ministry of State Security and People’s Liberation Army.
The hacking tools allowed malicious actors to infiltrate computer systems while concealing the country from which the attacks originated, prosecutors said.
Among the targets were the Justice Department, NASA, Federal Reserve and U.S. Senate. The Energy Department, Department of Health and Human Services and National Institutes of Health were also victims of QTFY-related intrusion activity, according to federal officials.
“State-sponsored malicious hackers preying on America’s critical infrastructure will be stopped and prosecuted,” Attorney General Todd Blanche said. “We are here to ensure security for the American people and will use every tool we have to keep that promise.”
