CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten expressed surprise on Thursday about the popularity of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts to the federal government.

DOGE, which has laid off thousands of federal workers in an effort to drastically reduce federal bureaucracy, claims on its website to have saved taxpayers an estimated $105 billion. Enten, on “CNN News Central,” said he thinks Americans are supportive of the cuts because they largely feel DOGE is targeting waste rather than essential programs.

Can anyone name any “essential program” DOGE has cut? No? Didn’t think so.

“This, to me, was one of the more shocking figures that I saw. Made me go, ‘Wait a minute, hold on one second, whoa!’ Americans on Trump and DOGE efforts, Musk and DOGE should influence government spending and operations: Look at this, 54%, the majority say that he and they should,” Enten told host Kate Bolduan, citing a February CBS News/YouGov poll. “How about approve of Trump trying to cut staff at government agencies? Again, you get a majority here, 51%.”

The only ones who should be surprised are those who have refused to listen to the American people. Voters gave Donald Trump a “mandate” and the sooner they accept that the easier it will be for them to sleep at night.

“So, yeah, Elon Musk might not be that popular, but these cuts and the idea of spending cuts, at least within the federal government and cutting at government agencies, that actually has majority support,” he continued. “I was truly surprised by this, Kate. But the numbers are the numbers.”

The last time I reported on the Texas measles outbreak, a school-age child had died and the mainstream media was asserting that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was downplaying the seriousness of the outbreak; yet, there was little such drama over the many measles cases during the Biden term.

Since then, the Texas State Department of Health Services (TSDHS) has reported 13 more measles cases, raising the total number of cases.

So far, 22 patients have been hospitalized, and the number of deaths remains at 1. The number of affected counties, located in the state’s South Plains area in the west, remains at nine, with most reported from Gaines County, which has been the outbreak epicenter.

Of the 159 cases, 80 are unvaccinated and 74 have an unknown vaccination status. Five patients had received at least one dose of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

JERUSALEM: The Trump administration’s cuts to USAID have frozen hundreds of millions of dollars in contractual payments to aid groups, leaving them paying out of pocket to preserve a fragile ceasefire, according to officials from the U.S. humanitarian agency.
The cutbacks threaten to halt the small gains aid workers have made combatting Gaza‘s humanitarian crisis during the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. They also could endanger the tenuous truce, which the Trump administration helped cement.
USAID was supposed to fund much of the aid to Gaza as the ceasefire progressed, and the Trump administration approved over $383 million on Jan. 31 to that end, according to three USAID officials.
But since then, there have been no confirmed payments to any partners in the Middle East, they said. The officials, who have survived multiple rounds of furloughs, spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution.

Reuters, once a respected outlet, is accused of sloppy journalism funded by $9 million from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) — money that’s fungible, blurring lines between aid and influence.  The Association for Appin Training Centers, a network of Indian software trainers, calls it more than bad reporting — it’s a deliberate, state-funded campaign to tarnish India’s reputation.

The target is Appin, a defunct New Delhi cybersecurity firm Reuters branded a “hacking for hire” kingpin from the early 2010s.  Vikram Sharma of the Association calls it bunk — shoddy reporting twisting old classroom slides into “evidence” and leaning on a 2013 Norwegian study that never conclusively linked Appin.  “The word ‘Appin’ appears in isolated contexts, but we’re not suggesting inappropriate activity by the company,” the Norman Shark report noted, even speculating that Appin could have been a victim of falsified evidence.

Canada Remains Bellicose Despite U.S. Pause on Tariffs

President Donald Trump announced a 30-day pause on newly enacted tariffs on Canada and Mexico but was met with mixed signals from Canada. On one hand, Canada appeared ready to move more aggressively on cutting down fentanyl traffic across the border, but on the other, Canada has not ended all its recently enacted tariffs, only the ones in response to Trump’s latest round of tariffs.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford offered the most bellicose response, announcing plans to increase their electricity fee by 25 percent for Americans in Minnesota, New York, and Michigan. Ford said of Trump’s announced tariff pause, “The only thing that’s certain today is more uncertainty. A pause on some tariffs means nothing. Until President Trump removes the threat of tariffs for good, we will be relentless.”

So, Judge didn’t just enter order saying COMPLY now. And Judge’s “coming into compliance” suggests he now recognizes he’s Order was impossible to comply with. On its surface, Judge’s order suggests he got message of SCOTUS’s order. . . but I doubt it!
