Iran’s friends don’t like the war decimating Tehran, but they’re not ready to join the fight against Israel and potentially the U.S.

Instead, Russia and now China have urged deescalation, emphasizing the dangerous consequences the escalating conflict could have on the whole world.

“If the Middle East is unstable, the world will not be at peace,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said Thursday. “If the conflict escalates further, not only will the conflicting parties suffer greater losses, but regional countries will also suffer greatly.”

“The warring parties, especially Israel, should cease fire as soon as possible to prevent a cycle of escalation and resolutely avoid the spillover of the war,” Xi added.

Xi’s comments came in a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which both leaders called for a ceasefire, according to a readout by China’s foreign ministry. Earlier this week, Russia warned that Israel’s attacks have brought the world “millimeters” from nuclear calamity, and Putin urged Trump against attacking Iran, as the President is mulling direct U.S. military engagement in the war that has already killed hundreds in Iran and dozens in Israel.

ROME — ROME (AP) — Pope Leo XIV warned Friday that artificial intelligence could negatively impact the intellectual, neurological and spiritual development of young people as he pressed one of the priorities of his young pontificate.

History’s first American pope sent a message to a conference of AI and ethics, part of which was taking place in the Vatican in a sign of the Holy See’s concern for the new technologies and what they mean for humanity.

In the message, Leo said any further development of AI must be evaluated according to the “superior ethical criterion” of the need to safeguard the dignity of each human being while respecting the diversity of the world’s population.

He warned specifically that new generations are most at risk given they have never had such quick access to information.

“All of us, I am sure, are concerned for children and young people, and the possible consequences of the use of AI on their intellectual and neurological development,” he said in the message. “Society’s well-being depends upon their being given the ability to develop their God-given gifts and capabilities,” and not allow them to confuse mere access to data with intelligence.

The US Food and Drug Administration has just approved lenacapavir, an injectable form of HIV prevention that is almost 100 percent effective and requires only two doses per year. Science magazine described the medicine the most important scientific advance of 2024.

In clinical trials, lenacapavir proved to be 99.9 percent effective in preventing HIV infection through sexual transmission in people weighing more than 35 kilograms. The drug, an antiretroviral, works not by stimulating an immune response, but by blocking HIV from reproducing during its early stages—specifically, by disrupting the function of the virus’s capsid protein. This happens so long as the body receives injections every six months.

Lenacapavir has already been approved in some countries as a treatment for HIV in people with forms of the virus that are resistant to other treatments. However, prior to this week, its prophylactic use had not been approved anywhere, making the FDA’s decision a significant new development in the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The drug is not the first medicine that can be taken preemptively to protect against an HIV infection: pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) pills were already available in many countries, including the United States. But these must be taken every day, and ensuring ongoing access to these medicines, and that people actually remember to take them, is a known challenge. It’s hoped the long-lasting effects of lenacapavir will make it easier for people to stay protected against the virus.

In a hearing on Wednesday, an attorney for a South Bend, Indiana sheriff argued the state attorney general can’t prosecute him for allegedly ignoring state law banning sanctuary cities.

The Saint Joseph County Police Department “has repeatedly released criminal aliens into the community” for at least a year, Assistant Chief Deputy Attorney General Blake Lanning told The Federalist. “That creates serious public safety risks.”

Rather than showing the police department is complying with state law by informing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of illegally present foreign criminals in their custody, Sheriff Bill Redman’s attorney argued Attorney General Todd Rokita has no legal authority to prosecute his agency for failing to comply. Redman lawyer Michael Smyth also argued that failing to cooperate with federal law enforcement does no injury to the state, a requirement for lawsuit standing, according to local news reports.

Recent polls rank illegal immigration as Hoosier voters’ no. 1 political concern, yet Indiana lawmakers declined to pass a robust immigration enforcement bill backed by the AG’s office this spring. Refusing to honor detainers is a typical component of sanctuary city policies. Local governments’ refusal to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement is a major contributor to the United States’s illegal immigration morass.

When President Donald Trump announced his first slate of judicial nominees, they came with all the bigotry and bias you’d expect: hating abortion, hating gender-affirming care, hating racial justice, loving literacy tests for voting—you know, the usual. But when the five nominees provided written answers to questions from Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, we learned that those hateful views are no longer enough: Now, Trump nominees also have to be election deniers. Yes, it appears that buying into Trump’s conspiracies about the 2020 election is now a requirement for a lifetime appointment to the federal courts. Terrific.

Every nominee refused to acknowledge that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. Instead, they sidestepped the question by providing an answer similar to Attorney General Pam Bondi during her confirmation hearing. When asked if Biden won the election, her answer was, “President Biden is the president of the United States. There was a peaceful transition of power.”

That is very much not a yes, but instead a careful sidestep—and a painfully obvious hedge. Bondi knew she couldn’t go full election denier during her confirmation hearing, but she also knew that any statement that Biden won the election would likely cost her that attorney general gig.

And these judicial nominees have grasped that the most important part of their confirmation process is showing their fealty to Trump and the Big Lie.

OPINION: Trump is correct to use this important tool from a 1996 law to ensure out-of-state American college students are not treated worse than illegal immigrants

The Department of Justice is finally enforcing a little-known, but important, immigration law that ensures Americans are not treated worse than illegal immigrants.

For years now, I have raised the issue of a specific statute in the “Illegal Immigration Reform and Responsibility Act of 1996.”

The statute is commonsense – states should not be able to charge out-of-state American citizens a higher rate than they charge illegal immigrants who have taken up residence in state.

But for almost 30 years, through multiple Republican presidents, the law has remained unenforced, even though it would have been quite simple to enforce according to Hans von Spakovsky. “The Attorney General of the US needs to tell the head of the Civil Division to enforce the statute,” von Spakovsky, whom I first heard the idea from, previously told The Fix.

Now, the Trump administration is using it with great success – a lawsuit filed against Texas for its illegal immigrant tuition benefits ended in a quick resolution to end the practice. The DOJ recently filed a similar lawsuit against Kentucky, and cited this statute in its introduction.

The statute, 8 USC 1623, states:

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident.

A Republican congressman was run off the road and nearly killed Thursday after a far-left individual attempted to ram him with their car while traveling at high speed.

The incident occurred along an Indiana highway where Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) said he avoided his brush with death in Rocky River, a small city sitting along Lake Erie to the state’s northeast.

There, “the life of me and my family was threatened by a person who proceeded to show a Palestinian flag before taking off,” he wrote on X while sharing a video describing the harrowing encounter.

“I have filed a police report with Capitol Police and the local police department. We know who this person is and he will face justice,” he went on.

“If you have an issue with a legislator, your city councilman, your mayor, anyone like that, the appropriate thing to do is to reach out to them for a phone call to set up a meeting at one of our district offices. What is not okay is to assault anyone, whether you’re a member of Congress or anyone else within our district while you are driving to work.”

“While I was driving to work, some deranged, unhinged man decided to lay on his horn and run me off the road when he couldn’t get my attention to show me a Palestinian flag — not to mention ‘death to Israel,’ death to me — that he wanted to kill me and my family. Thank god my daughter wasn’t in the vehicle at the time.”

The ruling came despite fervent opposition from Texas officials concerned about safety and permanence.

The Supreme Court’s decision permits the temporary storage of nuclear waste in Texas.

Colorado likes to brand itself as the “gold standard” of elections and democracy. But scratch the surface, and you’ll find something rotten. The same state that tried to bar President Trump from the 2024 ballot—only to be rebuked unanimously by the Supreme Court—is now under scrutiny for far more than election antics. Colorado has become ground zero for judicial tyranny, a place where whistleblowers are crushed, innocent men are financially destroyed, and courtrooms operate more like cartel headquarters than halls of justice.

The case of Tina Peters, the Mesa County clerk-turned-election integrity advocate, is finally drawing attention from the Department of Justice. After years of political persecution, Peters’ case has shifted from the DOJ Civil Division to the Criminal Division, with officials asking if her prosecution was less about justice and more about inflicting political pain. That’s a generous way to describe what happened. Jena Griswold, Colorado’s secretary of State, publicly posted hundreds of active election passwords, blocked expert witness Clay Parikh—one of the nation’s top cyber forensics specialists—from testifying, and weaponized the courts to silence Peters. The state’s judiciary went along with it, ruling that “nothing was compromised,” while the public saw the truth unfold in real time.

But Tina’s case isn’t an outlier—it’s a symptom of a far larger disease infecting Colorado’s judiciary. In a stunning exposé published in the Boston Broadside, the story of “John Doe”—a Colorado father who had more than $656,000 garnished from him without notice, hearing, or even proof of service—has exposed the state’s family court system as a lawless racket. The article, titled “The Family Court Fleecing of a John Doe — It Could Happen to You!”, details how John Sarina  (his real name, known to many familiar with the case) was railroaded by a court that allowed perjury by his ex-wife to go unpunished. Despite his repeated attempts to notify the court that he had not been served, Arapahoe County Court and Magistrate Moschetti allowed the financial carnage to proceed unabated. Constitutional rights were treated like an inconvenience. Due process was entirely absent.

So-called “protests” once again descended into chaos in Portland, Oregon, on Wednesday night.

Federal agents were forced to deploy non-lethal munitions to disperse a large crowd of radical protesters attempting to block an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.

The confrontation unfolded outside the ICE building on Macadam Avenue.

A masked mob, many donning keffiyehs and anti-border slogans, attempted to stop government vehicles from entering or exiting the compound.

According to footage obtained by Turning Point USA’s Frontlines, the scene quickly escalated into a volatile standoff.

Agents were seen using rubber bullets, tear gas, and flash bangs after demonstrators refused to comply with repeated warnings to leave.

No matter how much left-wing agitators want to riot to oppose enforcing immigration law, the American people still support Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and deporting illegals.

That is the takeaway from a new Harvard/Harris poll taken in the middle of the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots that have been excused by Democrat leadership like city Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom.

In fact, 80 percent of respondents in the poll support a plan to deport criminal illegal aliens, which clocks in at the second most popular overall policy proposal (of 15) after lowering prescription drug prices for the elderly and low-income Americans. When asked more specifically if respondents favored what the Trump administration is doing to achieve the deportations, 74 percent agreed, including 57 percent of Democrats and 75 percent of independents.

The fifth most popular policy proposal is closing “the border with added security and policies that discourage illegal crossings,” with 67 percent support.

What does that mean, beyond a few glowing words for marketing gurus to splash across Garden State TV screen in political ads? Quite a lot more than you might think, local publication The New Jersey Globe reports: [emphasis added]

The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 has endorsed Jack Ciattarelli for governor of New Jersey, giving the Republican nominee the support of one of the state’s most politically potent labor unions.

The 8,000-member union can provide Ciattarelli with boots on the ground during his campaign, and the potential to spend a significant amount of money through independent expenditures to help him win.

Disney World is experiencing a massive decline in attendance in June, with visitor numbers and overall crowd sizes way down in what is typically one of the busiest months of the year.

According to Disney Dining, the current June numbers are noticeably low when compared with historical trends. Social media feedback painted a picture of low energy across the parks, starkly contrasting the vibrant atmosphere typically associated with Disney World during this season. Some users even remarked on the eeriness of encountering low crowds, urging discussions about what might be causing this downturn,” the Disney-focused blog reported.

Economic concerns have been viewed as a potential contributing factor, as rising prices for Disney vacations has been listed as a concern for families considering a trip. While overall inflation trends have cooled, costs of dining, lodging and experiences have increased dramatically across Disney theme parks.

“Disney executives have acknowledged the concern but have been slow to adapt their pricing strategies in light of these economic difficulties,” Disney Dining reported. “The sentiment among consumers suggests an ongoing reluctance to spend on extravagant trips like Disney World, marking a troubling shift for the beloved theme park.”

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Disney executives were discussing whether their continuous price hikes are alienating middle class families who would have otherwise planned a visit. The price of attending a Disney park has skyrocketed in recent years, with the typical price of a four-day stay inside the park rising by $1000 between 2019 and 2024, according to an analysis conducted by The Wall Street Journal.

China has criticised a British warship’s passage through the Taiwan Strait as a deliberate move to “cause trouble”.

The Royal Navy said its patrol vessel HMS Spey was conducting a routine navigation through the contested waterway on Wednesday as part of a long-planned deployment in compliance with international law.

In response, the Eastern Theatre Command of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said the exercise was “public hyping”, adding that its forces followed and monitored the ship.

“The British side’s remarks distort legal principles and mislead the public; its actions deliberately cause trouble and disrupt things, undermining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” it said in a statement on Friday.

“Troops in the theatre are on high alert at all times and will resolutely counter all threats and provocations.”

China dispatched 74 military aircraft towards the Taiwan Strait between late Thursday and early Friday, with 61 of them crossing its median line, the Taiwanese defence ministry has said.

The incursion, which represents one of the largest in recent months, began a day after the UK sailed a navy ship across the strait, in a move welcomed by Taipei but condemned by Beijing.

The Chinese planes were sent in two separate waves, with six naval vessels also accompanying the manoeuvres, according to Taiwan.

Beijing regards the democratically governed island as part of its own territory and has stepped up such deployments to demonstrate its readiness to encircle and potentially invade Taiwan.

Analysts say the moves are also aimed at intimidating Taiwan’s population and exhausting its military resources and morale.

By targeting senior Iranian government and military officials, eliminating top nuclear scientists, and crippling critical components of the regime’s nuclear weapons infrastructure, Israel has forced the mullahs into a position they likely never imagined possible before the strikes. Through superior intelligence gathering and a meticulously executed military strategy, Israel has dealt a catastrophic blow to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Yet, much like a newt can regrow its tail after losing it to a predator, Iran’s regime may still attempt to rebuild its clandestine nuclear program — especially if its Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant remains intact.

Built deep beneath a mountain, the Fordow facility is impervious to all but the most powerful American-made bunker-busting bombs. While some believe Israel may have the capability to destroy the complex, most assessments conclude the task remains beyond its reach and that only the U.S. can finish the job.

As PJ Media’s Stephen Green recently explained, “There is literally only one bomber and one bomb to make the big badda-boom that could destroy Iran’s last remaining nuclear enrichment plant from the air.”

On Thursday’s broadcast of “CNN News Central,” House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) stated that Iran has enough enriched uranium to build a nuclear weapon and this is closer than they ever were before.

Co-host Sara Sidner asked, “Netanyahu, for more than a decade now, has said Iran is close to obtaining a nuclear weapon. This time, he said Iran was fast approaching that goal. Trump is siding with that assessment. But U.S. intelligence sources told CNN this week that their assessment is that Iran was at least three years away from being able to make and deliver a nuclear weapon. You are on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. What do you know? Where do you stand when you see these two conflicting assessments?”

Krishnamoothi answered, “Well, I don’t want to get into classified information, but what I know is that the Iranians are a lot closer now than they have ever been, and they have enough enriched uranium to basically build a weapon should they choose to do so.”

Washington — President Trump has been briefed on both the risks and the benefits of bombing Fordo, Iran’s most secure nuclear site, and his mindset is that disabling it is necessary because of the risk of weapons being produced in a relatively short period of time, multiple sources told CBS News.

“He believes there’s not much choice,” one source said. “Finishing the job means destroying Fordo.”

The president approved attack plans on Iran on Tuesday night, but has not made a final decision on whether to strike the country and formally join Israel’s air campaign, a senior intelligence source and a Defense Department official told CBS News on Wednesday. Mr. Trump held off on deciding to strike in case Tehran agrees to abandon its nuclear program, the sources said.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president will make a decision on whether to order a strike within the next two weeks.

“Based on the fact that there is a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” Mr. Trump said in a statement read by Leavitt at the White House press briefing.

IRAN’S supreme leader has scurried away to an underground bunker in a Tehran suburb amid threats to his life, according to reports.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is believed to be cowering away in the secret lair as Israeli missile attacks rain down nearby.

Two informed sources inside the country told Iran International the country’s ageing dictator is holed up in the bunker in Lavizan, a neighbourhood in Tehran.

It is among the areas in Iran to have been rocked by explosions over the past few days.

Khamenei’s family are also with him, the sources added, including his son Mojtaba – who is seen as a potential heir to the supreme leader.

The Ayatollah also reportedly sought refuge in this bunker during Iranian strikes in April 2024 and October 2024.

It comes as the conflict between Israel and Iran continues to escalate – and Donald Trump weighs up whether to get directly involved.

Donald Trump didn’t just win the 2024 election—he crushed it with a promise to rebuild America without stumbling into another foreign disaster. “No more stupid wars” became doctrine. His base connected with this pledge, proud that he hadn’t launched any new wars. But now, deep into 2025, that legacy is under pressure. In June, Israel struck Iran’s nuclear facilities—and Trump responded by warning Iran’s leaders to surrender “unconditionally,” advising Tehran’s civilians to evacuate, and boasting that the U.S. had “total control of the skies.”The MAGA movement—defined by its distrust of foreign entanglements—is experiencing an identity crisis. The coalition that brought Trump back to power is now split, torn between instincts that fueled his rise.

“Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings,” Griffin said, before Goldberg laid into her.

“Let’s not do that, because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. Listen, I’m sorry, they used to just keep hanging black people,” Goldberg said.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said too many protesters were present on June 7 and officers deployed chemical agents multiple times. In a letter later to acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, Torres said she ended up in the emergency room for respiratory treatment. She also said the protest had been small and peaceful.

Torres is one of many Democratic members of Congress, from states including California, New York and Illinois, who have been denied entry to immigrant detention facilities in recent weeks.

James Townsend, director of the Carl Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy at Wayne State University in Michigan, said the denials mark a profound — and illegal — shift from past practice.

Liberal America suffered another blow with the Supreme Court’s ruling on Tennessee’s transgender law. The Volunteer State passed ordinances to protect its youth from the twisted overreaches of the trans clan vis-à-vis surgeries and puberty blockers. The ruling didn’t strike down laws that permitted such insanity, but other states can now pass similar laws that will hit the brakes on unhinged parents mutilating their kids. Jeff had the story this week:

The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a ruling upholding Tennessee’s ban on “gender-affirming care” for minors suffering from gender dysphoria.

The ruling solidifies laws that shield children from being subjected to questionable medical treatments such as puberty blockers, hormone treatments, and surgery.

In a 6-3 decision, the Court ruled that Tennessee’s law does not violate the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment because it does not classify based on sex or gender identity. It concluded that the state has a legitimate interest in protecting children from the adverse impact of these treatments.

Illegal aliens have got to go. I know you know this, but for those who think these people should say—cough* liberals cough*–they’re now attacking federal officials. United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III of the Northern District of New York escaped a knife attack from a deranged illegal alien from El Salvador who chased Mr. Sarcone through Albany. He was able to seek refuge in a Hilton lobby, where the assailant, Saul Morales-Garcia, continued to shout at Sarcone but later retreated. The US attorney then called the police, later walking back onto the street to get Morales-Garcia’s attention; Sarcone feared he’d kill an innocent bystander if he were allowed to slip away.

Morales-Garcia then turned around and charged at Sarcone again. By then, the police had arrived, and order was brought to the situation—a knife was recovered at the scene. Police say Sarcone’s actions to keep Morales-Garcia occupied with him probably saved lives (via DOJ):

Tuesday June 17, after leaving his office in downtown Albany, United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III was the victim of a life-threatening incident.  Saul Morales-Garcia, an illegal alien from El Salvador, who entered the United States in 2021 after a prior deportation, lunged at Sarcone while brandishing a knife and yelling aggressively in a foreign language Sarcone could not readily identify.  Sarcone ran to the lobby of the Hilton Hotel and Morales-Garcia stopped and still shouting in a foreign language turned and started to walk away.  Sarcone immediately contacted Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple Sr.  Sarcone went back to the street and maintained a safe distance and yelled out to Garcia-Morales to gain his attention to prevent Morales-Garcia from disappearing as Sarcone believed an innocent person would be killed by Morales-Garcia.  Before law enforcement arrived, Morales-Garcia charged at Sarcone again screaming and yelling at Sarcone in a foreign language while wielding the knife to make a slitting-the-throat gesture at Sarcone. Sarcone again ran to the lobby of the Hilton where again Morales-Garcia stopped, turned and began to walk away but was apprehended when Sheriff’s deputies arrived.   Morales-Garcia was taken into custody and the knife was recovered.

Sarcone was physically unharmed, but emotionally rattled and stated, “I felt an obligation to the public as the chief Federal law enforcement officer in the district that includes the city of Albany.  I feared for my life but I couldn’t let this individual harm and potentially kill others.”

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said: “U.S. Attorney John Sarcone’s selfless actions likely saved lives.”

Morales-Garcia was charged with attempted second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and menacing in the second degree and remanded without bail.  He made an appearance in Albany City Court yesterday and an order of protection was issued for Sarcone. Morales-Garcia may also face federal charges; the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Homeland Security Investigations are involved in the ongoing investigation.

Last weekend, liberal America decided to take to the streets for No Kings Day, a loser exercise which did nothing. We have no king, Trump is still president, and Kamala Harris still lost the 2024 election. The ICE raids will continue, so deal with it. It’s also extra hilarious since liberals wanted Obama to act like a king during his presidency. It’s not just little old biased me saying No Kings was a waste of time: Ruy Teixeira, a liberal commentator and political analyst, threw cold water all over this little protest, saying it’s not enough.

If you’re unfamiliar with Teixeira’s work, he worked for the Center for American Progress but was essentially forced out because his analyses made his fellow liberals angry, namely the Democratic Party’s hard shift to the Left and its denigration of the working class. Ironically, he’s now with the American Enterprise Institute, last time I checked.

On his Substack, he noted that Trump and the GOP’s popularity over the Democrats is the first death blow to this notion that ‘No Kings’ could evolve into a larger movement. The second is that core Democratic voter groups have all turned against the Democrats. Last, he cited David Brooks’ column about why Democrats’ odyssey out of the wilderness won’t be easy. Liberals find themselves on the opposite end of where social trends are going right now: they’re institutionalists in an era where everyone hates institutions. They’re elitists when voters view elections as a duel between the elites and everyone else. While David Brooks isn’t MAGA, he was spot-on in highlighting those structural flaws within the Democratic Party. Now, there were some things about Teixeira’s post that I disagreed with, but overall, he shined a light into how the Left doesn’t get it yet:

This time is different. This time, he’s gone too far. This time, voters will be roused from their stupor and massively reject the Bad Orange Man. If only it were that simple. Here are some reasons why it’s not.

They’re not popular but then again neither are the Democrats. Trump’s approval has gone down since the beginning of his second term, now sitting at 46.5 percent in the RCP running average (a point lower in Nate Silver’s average). But Trump is still running ahead of his approval rating at this point in his first term. And at this point in his second term, he’s actually running slightly ahead of Obama and Bush at this point in their second terms.
