In a show of defiance against the new order, Antifa thugs assaulted a federal building in Eugene, Oregon, pounding on doors and harassing employees. Law enforcement dispersed the group and detained five of the besiegers. While the initial response was decisive, it was ultimately a reaction to an Antifa offensive, not a proactive measure against the organization.

The leftist media love to pretend that Antifa is just an “idea” that has no real structure, logistics, or national leadership, but the protests, riots, and attacks over the last few years have proven without a doubt that Antifa is both highly organized and coordinated. In the wake of the violent attacks on conservatives by left-wing radicals over the last month, it’s past time for the Trump administration to take decisive action and crush the Antifa cells embedded across the country.

The United States has dealt with mass left-wing violence before, perhaps most famously in the late 1960s and early ’70s when radical groups like the Weather Underground and the Black Liberation Army unleashed a wave of terror and murder. But many of the perpetrators of that violence ended up being rewarded for their wanton destruction and disregard for human life. Election integrity advocates are pushing the U.S. Election Assistance Commission to require documented proof of citizenship for federal voter registration forms.

More than 15,700 people have made public comments, mostly in support of the rule. The public comment period closes on Oct. 20. America First Legal, a conservative government watchdog, filed the petition with the EAC in July.

“There have been important documented cases of noncitizens registered to vote and of noncitizens voting,” James Rogers, senior counsel to America First Legal, told The Daily Signal.

“Thousands have been taken off the voter rolls,” Rogers continued. “But some states don’t check. In most states it’s not a robust system, but an honor system or pinky swear. You check a box yes or no if you are a citizen. If someone were going to illegally vote, they wouldn’t think twice about lying on a form.”

The federal voter registration form is a baseline that states are required to have under the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, though most states also have their own registration forms. If adopted, the rule would apply to the federal form.

The court granted an emergency request filed by the Trump administration seeking to block a judge’s ruling that said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem failed to follow the correct process in revoking Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelans.

The Supreme Court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, in May granted an earlier emergency request filed by the Trump administration in the same case.

The latest filing came after California-based U.S. District Judge Edward Chen on Sept. 5 again ruled against the administration, this time in the form of a final decision rather than a preliminary one.

The government shutdown entered its second week on Monday as a solution to Washington’s gridlock over the federal budget continues to elude lawmakers.

The Senate is set to vote on a “clean” continuing resolution, or CR, on Monday evening that would keep the government funded at its current levels until late November. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) will need to pick up five Democratic votes to pass the measure. That means the stopgap spending bill will likely not advance, as only three lawmakers in the Democratic caucus have crossed the aisle, with no others announcing plans to join Republicans over the weekend.

On the House side, Republicans have refused to budge on hashing out another deal viewed more favorably by Democrats. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has argued Democrats have backed similar “clean” CRs keeping the government open over a dozen times in recent years. Johnson has argued that concerns that the latest measure doesn’t contain provisions extending Obamacare subsidies, which have led Democrats to block the CR, are nothing more than a political ploy designed to appease fringe elements in the party opposed to President Donald Trump’s GOP.

Johnson sent his conference home in an attempt to push Democrats to the table, saying the chamber had already done its job when it passed the funding bill and sent it to the Senate on Sept. 19. Members are on a “district work period” in their home states until Oct. 13. They are scheduled to return to Washington on Oct. 14.

US District Judge Karin Immergut held an emergency hearing Sunday evening after President Trump circumvented her previous order halting troop deployment to Portland.

Last weekend, President Trump authorized troops to Portland, Oregon, and other Democrat-run cities to protect ICE agents from Antifa terrorists and other radical far-left groups.

“At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists. I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump previously said on Truth Social.

Right on cue, Democrat-run Oregon sued the Trump Administration to stop the deployment of troops.

Judge Immergut, on Saturday, blocked President Trump’s National Guard deployment to Portland.
