Transgender Service Members Left in Uncertainty After Trump’s Military Ban – TIME

Excerpt:

When Kate Cole, a 34-year-old U.S. Army Sergeant First Class and transgender woman, eventually retires from the military, she has dreams of moving from California to Colorado to work as a climbing guide. But right now, she only wants one thing: to be allowed to serve her country.

“I enjoy the work I do. I like working with the people I work with. The Army is my community,” says Cole, one of six trans service members who are suing the Trump Administration for its trans military ban, an Executive Order announced on January 27 that prohibits transgender troops from enlisting and serving openly in the military. “It’s my life.”

While the way the Department of Defense would implement the ban is unclear, the Executive Order would cut Cole and other trans service members from their jobs.

The National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD Law) filed a federal lawsuit on January 28 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against the Trump Administration in response to the order, saying the ban violates equal protection.

Brown Medical School Gives DEI More Weight Than ‘Clinical Skills’ in Promotion Criteria for Faculty– freebeacon.com

Excerpt:

Brown University Medical School now gives “diversity, equity, and inclusion” more weight than “excellent clinical skills” in its promotion criteria for faculty, raising questions about the quality of teaching and patient care at the elite medical school and underscoring how deeply DEI has penetrated medical education.

The criteria, which are posted on Brown’s website and have not been previously reported, list a “demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion” as a “major criterion” for all positions within the Department of Medicine, which oversees the bulk of the school’s clinical units. Clinical skills, by contrast, only count as a “minor criterion” for many roles.

Doctors who reviewed the criteria were alarmed, saying they reflect an unusually frank admission that merit is taking a back seat to DEI.

“This is as stark as it gets,” said Bob Cirincione, an orthopedic surgeon in Hagerstown, Maryland. The criteria “say what DEI in medical schools is all about. And it’s not about clinical performance.”

Insurrectionist NY Attorney General Letitia James has informed hospitals in her jurisdiction that they must follow state law, and disregard concern over the loss of federal funding so you can and WILL continue to chemically castrate, physically mutilate children in the name of the trans ideology.

Trump issued an order January 28 prohibiting federal funding for hospitals that give “gender affirming” surgery, hormone treatment to children under 18. James wrote, “Regardless of the availability of federal funding, we write to further remind you of your obligations to comply with New York State laws, including those that prohibit discrimination against individuals based on their membership in a protected class, such as sex [and] gender identity or expression.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) has warned hospitals in her state that they must continue providing so-called “gender affirming care” to minors, despite an executive order from President Donald Trump, or risk possible repercussions for engaging in “discrimination.”

On January 28, Trump issued an executive order prohibiting federal funding for medical facilities that supposedly help a child 18 years old or younger “‘transition’ … from one sex to another.” The order described such procedures as “chemical and surgical mutilation” and noted they often result in permanent reproductive damage.

“Countless children soon regret that they have been mutilated and begin to grasp the horrifying tragedy that they will never be able to conceive children of their own or nurture their children through breastfeeding. Moreover, these vulnerable youths’ medical bills may rise throughout their lifetimes, as they are often trapped with lifelong medical complications, a losing war with their own bodies, and, tragically, sterilization,” the executive order explained.

Winning: Trump Orders Teachers and School Admins to Stop ‘Facilitating’ Gender Confusion in Kids– lidblog.com

The Trump admin. has sent out a directive warning teachers and school administrators to stop pushing gender politics in schools. It is yet another example of the Trump administration admirably flooding the zone with a flurry of orders across the board and giving the leftists zero time to recover from one move to the next.

Per Just the News:

The White House broadened its all-out assault on gender ideology Wednesday night by threatening prosecution of teachers and schools for “unlawfully facilitating the social transition of a minor student” to identify and be treated as the opposite sex, part of a broader executive order on “ending radical indoctrination in K-12 schools.”

The potential legal actions against individuals involved in a process flagged in school districts nationwide but officially discouraged in England and in the pioneering “Dutch protocol” for treating gender dysphoria – affirming and reinforcing a child’s oft-temporary gender confusion – went unnoticed in a New York Times feature on school-related orders.

Chip Roy Files Bill to Repeal FACE Law Biden Used to Put Pro-Life Americans in Prison– www.lifenews.com

As pro-life activists await pardons from President Donald Trump, a key Republican member of Congress is introducing legislation targeting the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy introduced a bill Tuesday to repeal the FACE Act, which “prohibits threats of force, obstruction and property damage intended to interfere with reproductive health care services.”

“Now that we have a Republican trifecta in the House, Senate, and White House, Congress should move quickly to repeal this law and ensure that no future president can weaponize it against pro-lifers ever again,” Roy said in a statement.

“Free Americans should never live in fear of their government targeting them because of their beliefs,” Roy has said. “Yet, Biden’s Department of Justice has brazenly weaponized the FACE Act against normal, everyday Americans across the political spectrum, simply because they are pro-life.”

“Our Constitution separates power between the federal government and the states for a reason, and we ignore that safeguard at our own peril,” he added. “The FACE Act is an unconstitutional federal takeover of state police powers; it must be repealed.”

The bill comes as 21 pro-life advocates like Bevelyn Williams await a prdon from President Trump.

Pope Francis praises ‘profound’ Buddhist religious revival in Mongolia without mentioning Christ– www.lifesitenews.com

“By reviving traditional spiritual practices and integrating them into the nation’s development, Mongolia has reclaimed its rich religious heritage,” said Francis in reference to Buddhism, which is by far the majority religion in the country. The religious practice does not acknowledge God as Creator, let alone Jesus Christ.

During the reign of communism in the country from 1924 to 1992, Buddhism was brutally repressed, along with other religions in the country, and experienced a resurgence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in late 1991.

Francis has often met with Buddhists and praised their religion without calling them to convert to Catholicism, thereby neglecting what the Church has historically recognized is an essential part of true ecumenism, since it is a dogma that there is “no salvation outside the Church.” Christ Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

Trump Takes a Sledgehammer to Gender Ideology, Ensures Protection for Women and Girls – PJ Media– pjmedia.com

Donald Trump’s first day in office has been an epic one indeed. He signed dozens of executive orders dismantling the Biden legacy and restoring sanity to the U.S. government.

Things were so crazy during the Biden administration that Trump had to use an executive order to reaffirm the reality of biological sex and establish that it is the policy of the United States that there are only two sexes, male and female, which are not interchangeable.

As PJ Media’s Sarah Anderson previously noted, this likely means that individuals who got passports with the third “X” gender option during the Biden years will likely need new ones, and they’re gonna have to choose their biological sex, not their fantasy “gender identity” either.

It’s a huge win. But this executive order is so much bigger than that. In this executive order, Trump took a sledgehammer to this dangerous and destructive ideology.

Trump, Vance Roll Their Eyes As DC Bishop Hijacks ‘Bipartisan’ Service With Liberal Screed– trendingpoliticsnews.com

In what was meant to be a solemn and unifying event, the so-called “bipartisan” prayer service in Washington, D.C. quickly took a turn when Episcopal Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde seized the moment to deliver a pointedly liberal plea directly aimed at President Trump and Vice President JD Vance. The event, intended as a moment of national reflection, instead became yet another platform for progressive activism.

With cameras rolling, Budde launched into an emotional speech, imploring President Trump to “have mercy” on various progressive causes, including LGBTQ+ youth and illegal immigrants. Trump and Vance, visibly unimpressed, exchanged glances and appeared to roll their eyes as Budde pressed on with her politically charged sermon.

“Let me make one final plea, Mr. President. Millions have put their trust in you. And as you told the nation yesterday, you have felt the providential hand of a loving God. In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now,” Budde pleaded. She then proceeded to highlight concerns for LGBTQ+ children and illegal immigrants.

Budde continued, “The people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals, they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors.”

Colleges argue Minnesota’s law excluding faith-based schools from dual enrollment programs violates religious freedoms

An attorney with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, representing two Christian colleges in Minnesota, expressed optimism about their case challenging a state law they claim infringes upon their rights as religious institutions after a December hearing.

The law prevents Crown College and the University of Northwestern, St. Paul from participating in taxpayer-funded high school dual enrollment programs if they require students to sign statements of faith.

“The Supreme Court has ruled three times in the last seven years that, when the government makes funds available to the public generally, you can’t exclude participants based on their religion. That’s exactly what the Minnesota Department of Education has done here,” Attorney Eric Baxter told The College Fix.

A free speech group has called on the California State University system to revise its new “Other Conduct of Concern” discrimination and harassment policy, calling it overbroad and unconstitutionally vague and arguing it would impermissibly chill expression.

“We urge you to reconsider this guidance and ensure no members of the CSU systemwide community are subject to investigations or discipline for engaging in constitutionally protected expression,” the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression wrote to CSU leaders.

The five-page Dec. 30 memo from the nonpartisan nonprofit focused on defending free speech told leaders of the 23-campus system the policy is a legal minefield.

Robert Bredt, medical director of the Texas Medical Board (TMB), the state agency responsible for ensuring ethical standards and quality care in medicine, was forced out after the discovery of a blatantly unethical conflict of interest.

After it was made public that Bredt worked for a Planned Parenthood-affiliated lab while fulfilling his role as the Texas Medical Board Director, Operation Rescue’s legal counsel, State Rep. Briscoe Cain (R-TX) demanded the “immediate termination” of Bredt. Following a December 30 letter, 62-year-old Bredt escaped being fired by submitting retirement paperwork on January 7.

Bredt had been employed in this public capacity since 2012, earning $185,000 annually. According to his resumé, he was working for Planned Parenthood South Texas in 2011 — even before he began fulfilling his public role with the state licensing board.

DEI programs to promote diversity actually breed hostility in schools, businesses: study– www.lifesitenews.com

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs are billed as making society more tolerant, compassionate, and harmonious but actually increase hostility in workplace and educational settings, according to a recent study.

The study, by Rutgers University’s Network Contagion Research Institute, focused on “diversity training interventions that emphasize awareness of and opposition to ‘systemic oppression,’” which has “seen widespread adoption across sectors like higher education and healthcare.” It was conducted by exposing 423 Rutgers students to influential DEI training materials authored by far-left activists like Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo, then surveying their reactions.

“Across all groupings (race, religion, and caste-based), instead of reducing bias, they engendered a hostile attribution bias,” the researchers found, “amplifying perceptions of prejudicial hostility where none was present, and punitive responses to the imaginary prejudice.”

“This research raises critical questions about how many individuals, as a result of these programs, have experienced undue duress, social ostracization, or even termination of employment,” said the researchers, who called for further research into “the potential for a far broader scope of harm than previously considered.”

A transgender Resident Assistant at Utah State University has prompted controversy and concern, but a campus official says the school is just following the law.

The situation was publicized by a recent post on X that claimed a transgender student was serving as a “dorm mom” in a female housing unit.

Amanda DeRito, a spokesperson for the school, told The College Fix via email there are several clarifications needed regarding the situation, which was made viral by a post on X three days ago that has since amassed 3.5 million views.

For example, she said the school does not have an all-women’s dorm, and the terminology in the viral post, that the transgender student serves as a “dorm mom,” is inaccurate.

“For clarity, USU does not have all-female or all-male residence halls. Merril Hall is a co-ed where students choose their rooms according to the gender they report. Resident assistants do not act in a parental role, and we do not call them dorm moms,” DeRito told The Fix.

Victor Davis Hanson Condemns California’s DEI Hiring In Fire Departments, ‘Not Muscularity, Not Experience,’ Just DEI– dailycaller.com

Victor Davis Hanson, Wednesday on Newsmax, slammed the implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) criteria in fire department hiring practices in California.

During an appearance on “Finnerty,” Hanson said these policies prioritize DEI above essential firefighting qualifications like experience and physical readiness. Hanson said that hiring workers based on DEI led to an ill-equipped workforce in the state.

“The DEI fire chief, 70% of her hires have been based on DEI. Not muscularity, not experience, not size, not competence. The primary criterion was DEI. And so the only… thing that is different about this is that this was not the inner city. This was, as Donald Trump mentioned, and I’ve taught at Pepperdine, I just got back from there. This is the most elite area of California,” Hanson told Rob Finnerty.

Hanson also said that there’s a broader failure in California’s management of natural resources and emergency preparedness.

Putting ‘woke’ law schools on trial– www.washingtonexaminer.com

Law schools are different from other academic institutions. They are the incubators of America’s future elite. When they go wrong, it profoundly affects the wider culture in a way that other institutions do not.

That’s the central point in Lawless: The Miseducation of America’s Elites, the compelling new book by Ilya Shapiro. Shapiro, a lawyer, a veteran of the libertarian Cato Institute, and a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, gained fame in 2022 when he was investigated for political incorrectness prior to starting a position as executive director of the Georgetown Law School Center for the Constitution.

Georgetown investigated Shapiro after he posted that Sri Srinivasan, the chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, would be President Joe Biden’s “best pick” for the Supreme Court. Shapiro added: “But alas [Srinivasan] doesn’t fit into [the] latest intersectionality hierarchy so we’ll get [a] lesser black woman.”

Shapiro’s “lesser black woman” phrasing caused a reaction and led Georgetown Law Dean William Treanor to denounce the post as “appalling” and “at odds with everything we stand for at Georgetown Law.” It completely upended Shapiro’s life.

Thirty-Five Discriminatory U Rhode Island Scholarships Under Investigation by DoEd After Equal Protection Project Complaint– legalinsurrection.com

The Equal Protection Project (EPP) (EqualProtect.org) of the Legal Insurrection Foundation has challenged numerous discriminatory programs done in the name of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In all we have filed over 50 complaints and legal actions since launch in February 2023, with approximately half the schools withdrawing or modifying the discriminatory programs after our filing. (See EPP November 2024 Impact Report.)

You may recall that on December 11, 2024, we filed a Civil Rights Complaint against the University of Rhode Island challenging 51 scholarships that discriminated on the basis of race (23), race and sex (5), or sex (23)., as detailed in this post, Fifty-One Discriminatory Scholarships At University of Rhode Island Challenged By Equal Protection Project. We included a request for expedited treatment:

Indeed, URI appears to admit that there is a strong likelihood that several of its discriminatory scholarships are unlawful – because in its descriptions of such scholarships URI notes that “if such an award would not otherwise comply with applicable law, then the scholarship shall go to a student with demonstrated financial need and in good standing from a historically underrepresented population at the University.”18 This reflects both a consciousness of guilt on the part of URI and a callous disregard for federal anti-discrimination laws and URI’s constitutional obligations. This highlights the urgent need for OCR to conduct an investigation and put an end to this misconduct before the spring 2025 reapplication period begins.

Big Tech’s about-face on free speech takes away transgender activists’ advantage– www.lifesitenews.com
Source Link
Excerpt:

The transgender movement captured the institutions of Big Tech almost overnight, and the cultural power this granted them was extraordinary. Now, they are losing that power — and fighting back desperately.

When both Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, and Twitter (now X) enforced their ideology, the terms of the cultural debate over gender ideology became not only incredibly narrow but was essentially limited to vocabulary pre-approved by the transgender movement.

On Twitter, for example, referring to trans-identifying males as males — such as referring to Bruce Jenner as a “he” — could get you permanently banned from the platform. “Deadnaming” — calling Jenner “Bruce” rather than “Caitlyn,” for example — would also get you evicted from Twitter and, thus, the public debate about gender ideology. The terms set by the social media giants ensured that opponents of gender ideology could not tell the truth without being removed from the debate.

It is clear that the cultural impact of these gatekeepers was enormous. When Elon Musk purchased Twitter, eliminated the speech rules, and restored the accounts of many influencers who had been banned for “misgendering” or “deadnaming,” the ripple effect was almost immediate. J.K. Rowling used the platform to launch a near-incessant rhetorical war against the transgender movement — to devastating effect. Previously silenced voices could suddenly get their message out to millions. This played a significant role even politically.
