The missile was launched at 12:01 p.m. and carried a dummy warhead, according the official Xinhua News Agency.

Iran is likely to face challenges in clearing its oil inventories even after restrictions on its exports are lifted, as its biggest customer tweaks its energy strategy while oil from other suppliers floods the market, according to analysts.
China, the world’s top crude importer, has not been particularly enthusiastic about purchasing Iranian oil, despite traditionally being the main buyer of the country’s energy. “In fact, the Chinese do not show any enthusiasm to buy much oil from anybody,” Fereidun Fesharaki, chairman emeritus at FGE NexantECA, said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia.”
China’s crude imports have dwindled since the Iran war started in late February, depressing oil demand. In May, they plunged 29% from a year earlier to 7.82 million barrels per day, the lowest level since February 2018, according to Wind Information.

A cargo vessel in the Red Sea has reported coming under attack, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre, a British maritime security alert service, said Sunday, amid a fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran.
The body said it received a report of the incident 30 nautical miles (56 km) southwest of the port city of Al Hudaydah in Yemen.
“A cargo vessel has triggered a distress alert stating that they are under attack by unknown assailants,” the UKMTO said in a post on X, adding that authorities are investigating the incident.
It urged vessels to “transit with caution”.

The Vatican’s Dicastery of the Doctrine of Faith headed by scandal-plagued Cardinal Manuel (“Tucho”) Fernandez released a decree of excommunication this morning declaring the six bishops of the Society of St. Pius X automatically excommunicated following the consecration of four new bishops without papal approval.
The decree states that the consecrator Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta and the four newly consecrated bishops (Pascal Schreiber, Michael Goldade, Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, and Marc Hanappier) have incurred latae sententiae excommunication. Bishop Bernard Fellay was also declared excommunicated for serving as co-consecrator.
The document goes further, labeling all SSPX priests as schismatics subject to excommunication and declaring that confessions heard by them and marriages they witness are invalid.
The decree also warns the faithful who formally adhere to the SSPX could face excommunication. It urges Catholics to remain in full communion with the Pope Leo XIV and to abstain from participating in Masses and activities promoted by the Society.

Sebastien Ostertag reported from France that the French National Assembly voted to support the euthanasia bill by a vote of 295 to 232 against.
The bill will go back to France’s Senate but even if France’s Senate defeats the euthanasia bill again, the National Assembly can over-ride the Senate if they vote to legalize on July 15, 2026.
On May 27, 2025, the French National Assembly passed the euthanasia bill by a vote of 305 to 199. On January 21, 2026, France’s Senate defeated the bill by 181 to 122.

On February 25, 2026, the French National Assembly passed the euthanasia bill again. France’s Senate once again defeated the bill on Monday May 11, 2026 by a vote of 151 to 118. The Senate then passed, by a vote of 325 to 18, the part of the law that improves access to palliative care.
Ostertag reported that the opposition has two weeks to change 32 votes before the final vote on July 15. Ostertag explains:
- If the bill passes: Catholic and otherwise Christian retirement homes and medical institutions will likely shut down since there is no conscience clause for religious institutions.
- Nurses and pharmacists can be forced to participate in euthanasia, since there is no conscience clause for them.
- Those who are poor and suffering may be pressured into death since access to palliative care isn’t universal.
- The waiting/reflection period before death is only 48 hours.
- Estimates from France suggest that, based on France’s population, 50,000 people could die every year from euthanasia.
- The family won’t be able to ask the court to stop the decision to die.
- Proponents of the bill will likely push for further expansions, as in other jurisdictions, to allow children to be euthanized, people with mental illness and criminalizing those who try to dissuade someone from being killed.
Unfortunately, the effort to put the question of euthanasia on the ballot through a parliamentary and constitutional procedure was struck down by the Conseil Constitutionnel, (French Supreme Court) which means that the July 15th vote is the last say, at least until after the next presidential election.
France’s government strongly supports the euthanasia bill and has pressured members of the National Assembly to support it. President Emmanuel Macron and the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet both support legalizing euthanasia.
France needs to examine the experience with euthanasia in Québec and completely reject the bill. Québec legalized euthanasia based on “exceptional circumstances” in 2015. The French Canadian province now has the highest euthanasia rate in the world.

An agreement signed four days ago between the Israeli and Lebanese governments, which links Israel pulling its forces out of southern Lebanon with Hezbollah being disarmed, could effectively keep Israeli troops in the neighboring nation indefinitely, analysts say, and that could make a final peace deal between the U.S. and Iran harder to achieve.
Hezbollah has thus far refused to lay down its weapons, and the Lebanese government has proven unable to make the well-armed Iranian-backed group do so.
“This is not an agreement, it is an imposed settlement,” a senior Lebanese politician, who declined to be named, told the Reuters news agency. The lawmaker was quoted as saying Lebanon’s army is simply incapable of forcing Hezbollah to disarm.

A new poll has revealed that the majority of voters in the United States support the peace deal to end the Iran war that was reached earlier in the month under the leadership of President Donald Trump.
Among likely voters, the Big Data Poll found that 62 percent support the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two nations. Among Trump voters, that support was 77 percent, while 50 percent of Kamala Harris voters supported the deal.
The poll also found a boost to Trump’s approval ratings in the wake of the deal. In total, 44.4 percent of likely voters said they somewhat or strongly approve of the job Trump’s doing as president. This is up from May, when 40.7 percent of likely voters said the same.
Big Data Poll Director Rich Baris said, “The war was never popular and voters have been frustrated over what they perceive to be a lack of focus on domestic issues. But this is the first month since the start of the Iran War the picture was a little rosier for the President and Republicans. That said, these results and the transcripts of interviews conducted make it very clear that the fate of the Republican majorities in November is almost certainly tied to a lasting peace with Iran.”
The poll was conducted between June 26 and 28 of 2,971 registered voters and 2,604 likely voters nationwide, and has a margin of error of 1.8 percent for registered voters and 1.7 percent for likely voters.

It kicked off with the subcommittee’s chairman, Mississippi Republican Michael Guest, claiming that the Trump administration’s crackdown on the southern border has driven Mexican cartels to shift their criminal enterprises to the border with Canada.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin made similar claims in June.
“Illegal crossings have begun to shift north,” claimed Guest. “Drug seizures at the northern border have steadily increased, reaching record levels this year.”

Like other NATO countries, the U.K. is under pressure to increase defence spending to counter a more aggressive Russia and less reliable United States. But its Defense Investment Plan has been repeatedly delayed as military leaders and Treasury officials wrangled over the cost, and critics said its pledge of a 15 billion pound ($20 billion) boost to defence spending won’t be enough.
