NBC, though, found a bit of time for the story- albeit tucked into their story on deportations of suspected gangbangers and subsequent detention in a Salvadoran supermax:

How Elon Musk weaponised X against Ukraine’s president Zelensky – The Independent

When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Elon Musk was hailed as one of Kyiv’s staunchest allies. A Russian malware attack crippled satellite communications across Ukraine, and officials frantically pleaded with the SpaceX founder to help.

Three years later, Musk has warned that Ukraine’s “entire front line would collapse” without SpaceX’s satellite terminals, highlighting their critical role in the country’s defence against Russia. He has also used his platform X to repeatedly attack Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky, sharing false claims and calling for elections to replace him.

It’s a sharp turnaround for the tech billionaire, who has joined the recent pile-on against the wartime leader, led by Donald Trump. This week, after X was targeted by a cyber attack, Musk blamed Ukraine. He then accused a US Democrat senator who visited Kyiv in a show of support of being “a traitor”.

‘Nothing like this in American history’: the crisis of Trump’s assault on the rule of law – The Guardian US
Source Link
Excerpt:

When the chief justice of the US supreme court, John Roberts, delivered his bombshell ruling last July granting Donald Trump absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts, he laid out his vision of an expansive presidency. The executive, he wrote, should be “vigorous and energetic”, and free to carry out duties “boldly and fearlessly”.

If that sums up Roberts’ ideal occupant of the Oval Office, then he has certainly got what he wants in the 47th president. In his first month back, Trump has vigorously fired tens of thousands of federal workers; energetically ignored congressional statutes; boldly run roughshod over the constitution; and fearlessly unleashed Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, in a slash-and-burn campaign against the US government.

Trump has done more than that – he has opened a Pandora’s box that might, in time, give the chief justice pause. The president has indicated that he has another target in his sights: the very judiciary over which Roberts presides.

“He who saves his Country does not violate any law,” Trump posted on Musk’s X earlier this month, channeling Napoleon Bonaparte. The comment, combined with overt threats that Trump and his people have made against judges who dare stand in their way, have prompted a question that previously would have been unthinkable: is the president willing to defy the rule of law itself?

Now, in the U.S., another corporate coup is unfolding. In recent months, Elon Musk has increasingly acted as an unelected power broker, using his economic and political might — including his influence in the spheres of telecommunications, militarism and artificial intelligence — to undermine democratic institutions and reshape the government in his own image.

Musk’s influence extends far beyond the private sector. His power manifests through private ventures that dictate public policy — from X’s (formerly Twitter) control over the public conversation to Starlink’s role in global conflicts. His satellites control critical military and civilian communications. His companies, including Tesla, StarLink, SpaceX and StarShield, SpaceX’s military subsidiary, are deeply embedded in national security infrastructure, while his growing AI and data collection through X gives him unprecedented political sway. Now, Musk is openly using his wealth and influence to stage what can only be described as a corporate coup.

Do Reporters Love Leakers Who Ruin ICE Raids?– www.newsbusters.org

It’s not often that we associate leakers within the government with criminals — often, they’re just frustrated liberals. But leaking the location of potential ICE raids or leaking American troop locations endangers the safety of Americans. Are reporters going to defend these kinds of leaks?

One way Trump could seek retribution in a second term is by going after leakers who seek to undermine the White House agenda. Anonymous Trump-trashing sources were all the rage in the first term, and that’s what puts the emphasis on the phrase Deep State. Whenever anyone uses that term, think of government actors (or — government actors from the other party who are temporarily out of government) trying to run the government from behind a wall, cooperating with unelected media outlets.

There’s Kash Patel news on this front. Just The News reported the FBI has launched an investigation into “dishonest leakers” inside the bureau who have recently pushed “false information” to the media – leaks that FBI officials say has undermined the mission of the nation’s premiere law enforcement institution.

Tom Jones at Poynter.org led with this today: “The Department of Homeland Security, led by Secretary Kristi Noem, has begun performing polygraph tests on employees to determine if they are leaking information about immigration operations to the media.”

MSNBC Guest Claims ‘Strong Mainstream Nonpartisan’ Media Is Gone. She’s Right… for the WRONG Reason. – RedState– redstate.com

Excerpt:

One of the most bizarre and laughable claims the left can make was made by an MSNBC guest over the weekend. On Saturday’s “The Weekend” on MSNBC — which is peak Trump Derangement Syndrome on steroids — “journalist” Molly Jong-Fast dropped the following gem (emphasis, mine):

There is not the same strong mainstream non-partisan media there was in 2016. It is much, much, much smaller. So it has fallen on a lot of these Democrats — Democratic senators — to narrate what’s happening, to explain what they’ve seen in the last 7 weeks. And I’ve seen some Democrats do that. … If they don’t do it, no one else will.

Oh, Molly, bless your delusional heart.

While Jong-Fast is right— that a strong mainstream non-partisan media has vanished from America — she, like most Democrats, was right for the wrong reason. The “strong mainstream non-partisan media” ship sailed years ago, giving way to a hopelessly biased left-wing media — that now lives and breathes to trash President Donald Trump and all things conservative.

Jong-Fast also paid homage to self-declared “Democrat Socialist” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and TDS-riddled Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) as examples of “narrating what’s happening.”

You’ve seen Bernie Sanders go in and give town halls where Republicans won’t. Or you’ve seen Chris Murphy narrate — he did a speech on the floor of the Senate where he talked about what had happened in the last six weeks. That kind of stuff — there are some really popular things that Republicans are trying to take away.

CBS Gushes Over ‘Trans Influencer’ Dylan Mulvaney Book, Laments ‘Painful’ ‘Hate’– www.newsbusters.org

Monday’s CBS Mornings had a syrupy puff piece by contributor Natalie Morales on “trans influencer” Dylan Mulvaney ahead of a memoir’s release, lamenting all the “painful” “trans hate” Mulvaney faced due to the Bud Light debacle and claiming Mulvaney thought of dying by suicide because people opposed it.

No opposing viewpoint. All fluffy-yet-pointed demands everyone embrace transgenderism or the threats of suicides loom. It makes sense once you consider this was the show Bud Light parent company Anheuser Busch chose to appear on in June 2023 to defend their actions.

The idiocy began with first of two teases by co-host Vlad Duthiers: “And Natalie Morales talks with transgender trailblazer Dylan Mulvaney, who’s out with a new book about her transition and facing down hate by finding joy in her life.”

Duthiers’s second tease was even dumber: “Alright, ahead, trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney opens up about her journey and navigating the painful fallout from the controversy over an ad campaign for Bud Light. We’ll be right back.”

Co-host and Democrat donor Gayle King had the lead-in to the interview, swooning “Dylan Mulvaney burst onto the scene as a TikTok star” before fretting “perhaps what made her most famous was controversy” and “was targeted after appearing in…a one-off campaign” for Bud Light.

Data Republican (small r), whose mad genius database skills have laid bare the corruption and self-dealing between Washington and an army of NGOs, was the subject of a weekend hit piece in the Salt Lake Tribune — and her husband might have gotten the worst of it.

On Sunday, the Trib’s “emerging news reporter,” Brock Marchant, published an article that was little more than a summary of an earlier Rolling Stone piece that Jennica Pounds (Data r) says contains “multiple factual inaccuracies.”

Rather than interview Pounds directly for his report — she isn’t difficult to reach — Marchant contacted her husband, Brent, through his work email. He did so late on Saturday night, mere hours before the 6 a.m. Sunday publication.

Jennica posted that Brent “responded professionally” and explained that “his business activities are entirely separate” from the Data Republican website but that Jennica would reply later. “As a mother, my family responsibilities naturally took priority on a weekend, and I was unable to immediately respond to your inquiry.”

Also, Jennica’s deafness and autism often require assistance for clear communication.

“Instead of allowing me a fair opportunity to reply, you chose to rush publication,” she continued, proving “you prioritize sensationalism over accuracy, fairness, and responsible journalism.”

ICE Arrested Legal U.S. Resident for Protesting the Genocide of Palestinians at Columbia – Jezebel

Excerpt:

On Saturday evening, following reports of ICE agents in Columbia University student housing, recent graduate Mahmoud Khalil was arrested and detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in front of his wife, who is eight months pregnant. During Khalil’s time as a student at Columbia, he was a vocal pro-Palestine student activist and leading figure in organizing student encampments to protest Israel’s genocide in Gaza and Columbia’s ties to Israel. Khalil served as a key negotiator with the university during the encampment protests last spring, which drew horrific police violence sanctioned by the university.

ICE officers approached Khalil and his wife, who is an American citizen, at the entrance of their student housing building around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The agents reportedly told Khalil, who is Palestinian and graduated in December, that the State Department had revoked his student visa, even though Khalil has a green card and is a legal resident. His wife went to their apartment to retrieve his green card, while Khalil put his lawyer, Amy Greer, on the phone and tried to have the agents speak to her. The agents claimed Khalil’s green card had been revoked, too. When Greer tried to ask why Khalil was being detained, if the agents had a warrant, and also repeated that he has a green card, the agents hung up.

One problem with biased journalism is that it produces weak reporting. Another is that it can lead to the dissemination of outright falsehoods, even honest-to-God terrorist propaganda.

On Mar. 6, the global newswire Reuters fully retracted a report that had referred repeatedly to a victim of a Palestinian terrorist attack as a member of the Mossad, Israel’s top intelligence agency. The problem is there’s no evidence that the victim, Amatzia Ben-Haim, was ever in the Mossad, let alone an active agent at the time of his death.

Reuters, it turns out, relied entirely on the killer’s family for this supposed biographical detail, apparently making no effort to corroborate their version of events. When asked to explain how the original story was allowed to go to print despite serious and obvious flaws, the newswire replied to my inquiries with the same stock statement it had issued previously, that the story “is withdrawn” and that they “regret the error.”

It is unclear why Reuters chose to rely solely on the claims of the killer’s family that Ben-Haim was a Mossad agent, apparently without corroboration. It has made no effort to show its homework.

The New York Times published an article claiming President Donald Trump’s administration is pushing a Chinese-style “Cultural Revolution in America.” But survivors of the Chinese Cultural Revolution told The Federalist they disagree — and suggested the Times is pushing communist propaganda.

“They are evil — evil,” said Xi Van Fleet, a survivor of Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution. “The New York Times is personifying the People’s Daily, the CCP mouthpiece.”

Mao’s communist government killed up to 2 million people and sent thousands of its opponents to prison during the Chinese Cultural Revolution from 1966 to 1976. This followed the death of 30 million people in a famine caused by Mao’s so-called Great Leap Forward.

Van Fleet was born in China, survived the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and “was sent to work in the countryside at the age of 16.” She escaped China at age 26 and has lived in America since 1986. She wrote the book Mao’s America, warning the United States about the potential for a cultural revolution in America.

CNN Is SHOCKED Over Mass Public Support For DOGE Cuts– www.louderwithcrowder.com

Who would have guessed that stopping the blatant misuse of tax dollars for reasons that will never benefit the American people would be deeply popular? CNN’s Harry Enten could not, as he claims to be flabbergasted by the massive public support polls.

According to the Daily Caller:

CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten expressed surprise on Thursday about the popularity of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts to the federal government.

DOGE, which has laid off thousands of federal workers in an effort to drastically reduce federal bureaucracy, claims on its website to have saved taxpayers an estimated $105 billion. Enten, on “CNN News Central,” said he thinks Americans are supportive of the cuts because they largely feel DOGE is targeting waste rather than essential programs.

Can anyone name any “essential program” DOGE has cut? No? Didn’t think so.

“This, to me, was one of the more shocking figures that I saw. Made me go, ‘Wait a minute, hold on one second, whoa!’ Americans on Trump and DOGE efforts, Musk and DOGE should influence government spending and operations: Look at this, 54%, the majority say that he and they should,” Enten told host Kate Bolduan, citing a February CBS News/YouGov poll. “How about approve of Trump trying to cut staff at government agencies? Again, you get a majority here, 51%.”

The only ones who should be surprised are those who have refused to listen to the American people. Voters gave Donald Trump a “mandate” and the sooner they accept that the easier it will be for them to sleep at night.

“So, yeah, Elon Musk might not be that popular, but these cuts and the idea of spending cuts, at least within the federal government and cutting at government agencies, that actually has majority support,” he continued. “I was truly surprised by this, Kate. But the numbers are the numbers.”

MSNBC could not help themselves from completely stepping in it Tuesday night.

After President Donald Trump’s address to Congress, host Nicole Wallace gave her reaction, noting a particular moment when Trump made DJ Daniel — a 13-year-old cancer survivor — an honorary Secret Service agent.

Instead of simply applauding Daniel’s bravery and wishing him the best during that heartwarming moment, Wallace used it to give viewers what CNN pundit Scott Jennings called, “One of the worst cable news moments I’ve ever seen.”

After saying she let herself feel “joy” about Daniel’s moment and hoping he’s “alive for another 95 years,” Wallace gave into the temptation of dragging the moment down and beating the dead horse that is Jan. 6, 2021, in the most vile way possible.

“I hope he has a long life as a law enforcement officer. But I hope he never has to defend the United States Capitol against Donald Trump’s supporters, and if he does, I hope he isn’t one of the six who loses his life to suicide,” she told her fellow panelists in a manner that came off as incredibly stupid, outrageous, callous and miscalculated.

The last time I reported on the Texas measles outbreak, a school-age child had died and the mainstream media was asserting that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was downplaying the seriousness of the outbreak; yet, there was little such drama over the many measles cases during the Biden term.

Since then, the Texas State Department of Health Services (TSDHS) has reported 13 more measles cases, raising the total number of cases.

So far, 22 patients have been hospitalized, and the number of deaths remains at 1. The number of affected counties, located in the state’s South Plains area in the west, remains at nine, with most reported from Gaines County, which has been the outbreak epicenter.

Of the 159 cases, 80 are unvaccinated and 74 have an unknown vaccination status. Five patients had received at least one dose of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

JERUSALEM: The Trump administration’s cuts to USAID have frozen hundreds of millions of dollars in contractual payments to aid groups, leaving them paying out of pocket to preserve a fragile ceasefire, according to officials from the U.S. humanitarian agency.
The cutbacks threaten to halt the small gains aid workers have made combatting Gaza‘s humanitarian crisis during the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. They also could endanger the tenuous truce, which the Trump administration helped cement.
USAID was supposed to fund much of the aid to Gaza as the ceasefire progressed, and the Trump administration approved over $383 million on Jan. 31 to that end, according to three USAID officials.
But since then, there have been no confirmed payments to any partners in the Middle East, they said. The officials, who have survived multiple rounds of furloughs, spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution.

The Washington Post is now facing a wave of cancellations. More than 75,000 digital subscribers have reportedly canceled their memberships, according to Digi24.

This follows changes made by the newspaper’s owner, Jeff Bezos.

NPR reported that the cancellations were linked to new restrictions on opinion coverage. The number came from an anonymous source who feared backlash from the company.

The Washington Post declined to comment on the figures. It also did not respond to criticism about the changes.

Bezos announced a new editorial approach on Wednesday. He said the newspaper would focus on supporting personal freedoms and free markets.

As the U.S. government endeavors to trim its spending, no agency has been as pared back as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). On Feb. 26, after 30 days of what was purported to be a 90-day review, the Trump Administration announced that 90% of the international aid projects the agency was funding were going to be canceled, ending an era of outsize dominance and generosity by the U.S. in foreign aid.

These cuts include funding for medical, nutrition, educational and democratic initiatives that were sustaining and protecting millions of people. While foreign aid represented about half a percentage of the U.S. budget, it also represented more than 40% of the world’s foreign aid. The size and speed of the cancellations have reverberated around the world, with many experts suggesting that America’s reputation as a reliable and trustworthy partner has taken a hit simply because of the abruptness of the process.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that all foreign-aid projects must make Americans safer, stronger, and more prosperous. Valerie Karr, who has been working in disability rights for two decades, understands that impulse but is aghast at the cost to the people her small business served: disabled children in impoverished countries. For the last six years, Inclusive Development Partners (IDP) has helped implement plans to get children with disabilities around the world into schools and keep them there.
