A tough pressure campaign from high-profile Democrats has failed to persuade other members of their party in Maryland, where a new congressional map is now off the table.

Democrats enjoy a super-majority in both the Maryland House of Delegates and the Senate, and Democrat Wes Moore has been governor since 2023. Nevertheless, a redistricting proposal that would have threatened the lone Republican congressional seat died in the Maryland Senate when the legislative session ended Monday night.

‘At some point, I am going to have to have a conversation with him if he continues to stand in the way of an up or down vote.’

The Maryland House passed the map overwhelmingly in early February, 99-37.

Gov. Moore pressed hard to pass the map through the state Senate and onto his desk as a way to combat Republican redistricting efforts in Texas and North Carolina, spearheaded by President Donald Trump.

“I think Donald Trump is actively trying to manipulate and change the rules around the November election and beyond because he knows he cannot win on his policies,” Moore told the AP.

As the United States Navy enforces a full blockade of Iranian ports and conducts minesweeping operations in the Strait of Hormuz, the lessons of 1987 and 1988 are once again proving their worth. I know, because I participated in the Pentagon basement war games that shaped Operation Praying Mantis in 1988, which became America’s largest Navy surface engagement since World War II.

In March 1987, as Iran attacked shipping in the Persian Gulf during the Tanker War, Kuwait sought U.S. protection for its oil tankers. President Ronald Reagan ordered them reflagged under Operation Earnest Will.

Before the first convoy sailed, two-week-long war games tested responses to Iranian provocations. I served on the Green team as a young Reagan appointee, modeling a robust, military-centric reaction. The Blue team pursued a restrained, “proportional response” approach favored by the foreign policy “Blob.”

The outcomes were clear: The Green team’s decisive posture resulted in roughly 50 American dead, wounded, or captured. The Blue team’s tentative path allowed Iran to control escalation, producing some 1,500 American casualties.

… California politicians have proposed legislation to squelch future independent investigative efforts. Let me introduce you to Assembly Bill (AB) 2624, which:

  • Extends California’s existing address confidentiality and anti-doxxing protections (now used for reproductive and “gender-affirming” health care) to immigration support service providers, employees, and volunteers who face threats or harassment tied to their work.
  • Creates a new address confidentiality program for these immigration support workers so state and local agencies can process public-records requests without revealing their residence addresses.
  • Makes it unlawful to solicit, sell, trade, or post on the internet or social media the personal information or images of covered immigration support workers (or people at the same home address) when done with intent to incite or facilitate threats or violence, with associated civil and criminal penalties.

In other words, it allows bureaucrats to apply broad definitions and to threaten the actual journalists uncovering the types of immigration service abuse that Shirley has revealed with his work. The rules can be used to prevent videos from being shared on social media, and fines of $10,000 per violation can be imposed.

James Boasberg is the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court in D.C. He’s also the nakedly activist judge who tried to get planes with gang members to turn around as the administration was deporting them to El Salvador.

In a 2-1 ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ordered District Judge James Boasberg to drop his probe into whether Trump administration officials, including then-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, defied his order by completing deportation flights to El Salvador. The flights in March 2025 carried over 200 Venezuelan nationals suspected of ties to the Tren de Aragua gang, authorized under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act. Majority judges Neomi Rao and Justin Walker called the probe an abuse of discretion, citing unclear orders and separation-of-powers issues, while dissenting Judge J. Michelle Childs argued it was needed to uphold court authority. The decision bolsters executive flexibility in immigration enforcement amid ongoing partisan tensions. The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals is tiring of Boasberg.

The DC Circuit Court of Appeals has had to rebuke him for a third time over the chief judge’s obstinacy in pursuing contempt charges against the Trump administration. And Judge Naomi Rao’s frustration has begun to seep through the legal lingo of her ruling. For at least the third time, the circuit court has called an end to Boasberg’s attempts to run the ICE and Border Patrol. Rao flat-out ruled that Boasberg has committed an ongoing “abuse of discretion” with his threats of criminal contempt citations (Hot Air).

Washington Times: Circuit Judge Neomi Rao said Judge Boasberg has crossed too many lines, risking damage to the separation of powers between the president and the courts, and must end his pursuit of the president and his team. “As these shifting and expanding proceedings demonstrate, the district court has assumed an improper jurisdiction antagonistic to the Executive Branch,” Judge Rao, a Trump appointee, wrote in the majority opinion for the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia (Washington Times).

Swalwell officially resigned from Congress on Tuesday amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has set a date for a special election to fill disgraced Rep. Eric Swalwell’s seat after he resigned from Congress amid allegations of rape and sexual assault. Swalwell was forced to drop out of the California gubernatorial race as well as quit his seat due to the salacious accusations.

“I, Gavin Newsom, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim and order that a special election shall be held on the 18th day of August 2026, within the 14th Congressional District of the State, to fill the vacancy in the office of the U.S. House of Representatives from said district resulting from the resignation of Representative Eric Swalwell,” Newsom said.

Swalwell officially resigned from Congress on Tuesday after the serious allegations against him were made public. Video showing Swalwell in compromising sexual circumstances was also released by Human Events Daily’s Jack Posobiec and Martin Shkreli showing Swalwell in bed with a woman who was not his wife.

“I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make,” Swalwell said in a statement.

“I am aware of the efforts to bring an immediate expulsion vote against me and other members. Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it’s also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress,” he added. “I will work with my staff in the coming days to ensure they are able, in my absence, to serve the needs of the good people of the 14th district.”

Joy Behar says a lot of dumb things, but this might be the most foolish thing she has said to date.

Many instances in the Bible prove that Jesus confirmed he is the Messiah. You don’t even need to be a Christian to understand this very obvious truth. In fact, the entire premise of Christianity was founded on the idea that Jesus is the Messiah. This is why it is bizarre, naive, and objectively stupid for Behar to claim Jesus never said he is who he said he was. And when she was called out of her stupidity, she decided it was narcissism that caused Jesus to confirm he is the Messiah…

We have Matthew 16:15–20, Matthew 26:64, and John 4:25-26, to name several. Does Behar believe all of this was fueled by narcissism? Because if so, that screams more about her arrogance than anyone else’s.

You know that the Elitist Media have a hard time reporting on the military operation in Iran when a supposed war roundup gets a couple of sentences on the war and then two minutes of seemingly everything else. That’s exactly what happened at ABC when it came time to report on the ongoing U.S. naval blockade against Iran.

Watch the report in its entirety, as aired on ABC World News Tonight on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026:

DAVID MUIR: There are also breaking developments in the war in Iran. President Trump’s high-stakes U.S. naval blockade with the cost of gas $4.10 a gallon here in the U.S., up $1.16 since the start of the war. Tonight, the President says new talks with Iran could come in days. And President Trump tonight lashing out at Pope Leo again, and what he’s saying now. Ian Pannell from the region again tonight.

IAN PANNELL: Tonight, that high-stakes U.S. naval blockade of all Iranian ports is holding. U.S. Central Command saying no ships got past the blockade in the first 24 hours, and six merchant vessels were turned around. The U.S. hoping to choke Iran’s oil income to force concessions in peace talks. And tonight, President Trump signaling a second round of negotiations could be happening soon, along with a deal. The President telling our Jon Karl, quote: “I think you’re going to be watching an amazing two days ahead.”

The President’s made similar predictions at other points during this war. And the President also tonight lashing out at Pope Leo again to an Italian newspaper saying the Pope has no idea what’s going on with Iran. Trump ally Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni slamming the President’s criticism of the Pontiff as, quote, “unacceptable.” And she’s joined other U.S. allies that have refused to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The President blasting Meloni, telling that Italian newspaper “I’m shocked by her. I thought she had courage, I was wrong.” Trump also criticizing NATO allies for not helping with the war effort as he looks increasingly isolated. Another of his key allies, Viktor Orban of Hungary, who was close with Vladimir Putin, now voted out of office, some voters saying it’s a return to democratic values.

And the Lebanese and Israeli governments holding the first direct talks in decades in Washington, both agreeing to more talks.

MARCO RUBIO: This is more than just one day. This will take time, but we believe it is worth this endeavor.

PANNELL: David, this blockade squeezing Iran’s economy. But U.S. gas prices still high at $4.10 a gallon. That’s up $1.16 since the start of the war. And that means pressure on The White House, too, to get a deal done and get that oil flowing again.

MUIR: Ian Pannell from the region again. Ian, thank you.

Warner said, “Lawrence, we have spent 100,000 sorties against them. We have bombed them. But anybody in history would know you cannot bomb an adversary into submission.”

He added that “in so many ways, 46 days in, America is less strong. And I can just say, as I mentioned earlier, if we were to go after their enriched uranium, it would take 10,000 soldiers guarding a perimeter for days, and then we are going to send our special operators in, and the Iranians could bomb that.”

California Democrat Rep. A few women in recent days — all anonymous except one — went to some media outlets to accuse Swalwell of sexual misconduct, including rape. The lizardly congressman has denied any criminal wrongdoing while also apologizing for “mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past.” Nevertheless, he suspended his gubernatorial campaign and now faces some pressure to resign from Congress, as well as a criminal investigation in New York.

Law-abiding citizens of Virginia have been on pins and needles these past few days waiting to see how Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) would handle a bill that had been sitting on her desk for a month that would ban the purchase of certain “assault firearms.”

There was a hard deadline of 11:59 p.m. Monday for her to take action. She had several options: sign it, veto it, send it back to the General Assembly with suggested amendments, or simply do nothing, which would allow it to become law without her signature.

Considering “Grabby Abby” Spanberger had happily voted in favor of assault weapons bans during her time in Congress, it seemed likely that she wound ink this bill into law without a second thought. However, there was one big mitigating factor hanging over her: the April 21 referendum on whether or not to allow Virginia Democrats to gerrymander Republicans out of four of the five congressional seats they currently hold – and some signs are pointing to the vote not going the Democrats’ way.

California Democrats have advanced a bill that aims to protect “designated immigration support services” from “threats or acts of violence.” Republican lawmakers have warned that the bill would silence citizen journalists such as Nick Shirley, who has recently released reports uncovering millions in fraud in the state.

California’s AB 2624 passed the Assembly Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee in an 11-2 vote on April 7 and was referred to the Judiciary Committee. The House of Representatives passed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump in December 2019 over a phone call he had months earlier with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, alleging abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

While the U.S. Senate ultimately acquitted Trump by a vote of 57-43 in early 2020, the stitch-up had by that stage sufficiently muddied the waters and buoyed Democrats’ false narrative in an especially heated election year.

‘It is always worse than we thought.’

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released documents on Monday revealing that hearsay and erroneous claims from a few politicized bad actors who lacked any firsthand knowledge of the phone call were used as the basis to impeach Trump and that elements of the intelligence community were not only aware but happy to advance the false narrative.

The documents — investigative materials used by former Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson, who got the ball rolling on impeachment, and transcripts of his testimony released as the result of a House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence vote last month — show that Atkinson skirted standard IG procedures and, embracing a kind of strategic myopia, leaned entirely on what the ODNI described as “politicized, manufactured narratives” without ever once bothering to access the transcript of Trump’s call.

This, Kennicott argued, has “eclipsed” any “allure” of space, “the striking images” sent back, and the “bravery and telegenic decency of the astronauts.”

The print headline denoted a serious case of Trump Derangement Syndrome: “Artemis II’s view of a dark horizon; President Trump’s menacing rhetoric toward Iran eclipses the new wonders of the Space Age.” Over online, the headlines warned of “dark rhetoric eclipsing” NASA’s “new wonders.”

Kennicott started with the 1969 moon landing and even that wasn’t something he was keen on acknowledging as a monumentally positive and thrilling human achievement. The reason? He didn’t use the words jingoism or nationalism, but he called it “propaganda” as part of the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

Additionally, he claimed “[t]he euphoria of the first moon landing was directly connected to our ambivalence about the science that made it possible” because such early days of rocket technology also brought about the power to destroy humanity via “hurl[ing] hydrogen bombs across the planet.”
