A US federal court has blocked President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs, in a major blow to a key component of his economic policies.

The Court of International Trade ruled that an emergency law invoked by the White House did not give the president unilateral authority to impose tariffs on nearly every country.

The Manhattan-based court said the US Constitution gave Congress exclusive powers to regulate commerce with other nations and this was not superseded by the president’s remit to safeguard the economy.

The Trump administration lodged an appeal within minutes of the ruling.

‘Being Catholic in public is not an offense on Columbia’s campus,’ free speech expert says

Following complaints, Columbia University’s Office of Institutional Equity recently confronted graduate student Daniel Di Martino for comments he made on social media expressing his Catholic beliefs and criticizing transgenderism.

Di Martino told The Fix the matter is now closed — but only after he went public. The doctoral student said the university closed the investigation after he published a story in City Journal detailing what happened.

The incident began when Di Martino “received an email from the OIE accusing [him] of ‘conduct that could constitute discriminatory harassment’” earlier this year, he wrote in his City Journal piece.

“The message included no details, and when [he] asked for clarification, OIE didn’t provide any,” Di Martino wrote. Then, three university officials called Di Martino in for a meeting to tell him he had been the subject of “multiple complaints.”

We here at the Louder with Crowder Dot Com website have been viewing the Jake Tapper media tour with a degree of amusement. He’s promoting his “now it can be told” book, which claims that everything we said about Joe Biden was true (with that other quiet guy who sits next to him looking weird). Now, Tapper is admitting how everything we said about Democrats and the media is true.

But this new clip of him, a CNN employee, blasting the media for letting Democrats get away with the lawfare they declared on Donald Trump… what do you even say to this?

To set the stage, since Tapper was a guest on Stephen A. Smith’s podcast, here is Stephen A. pointing out the true crime committed by the People Who Controlled Joe Biden Administration as exposed in the book: it makes Donald Trump look right about everything.

Well, if you were willing to do that, then doesn’t it strengthen his argument that lawfare is being used against him?

The death of Texas teem Ava Moore, who was set to attend the Air Force Academy, was but the latest in a long trail of death and destruction at the hands of criminal illegal aliens allowed to enter into the country unabated. And in an awful but predictable omission, most of the major newscasts neglected to report this story.

ABC World News Tonight was the only newscast to air the story. Here is that report in its entirety, as aired on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025:

An illegal immigrant has been detained after another threat was made against President Donald Trump.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the arrest in a statement, saying U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had arrested Ramon Morales Reyes.

“Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars,” she said.

On May 21,  ICE office received a threatening letter they said came from Reyes.

“We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans — we have done more for this country than you white people — you have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump get what he has coming to him,” the letter said, according to Noem’s statement.

The FBI has been overwhelmed investigating James Comey “copycats” in the wake of his controversial “86 47” Instagram post, Director Kash Patel revealed Wednesday.“Do you know how many copycats we’ve had to investigate as a result of that beachside venture from the former director?” Patel told Fox News “Special Report” host Bret Baier, during an interview from the bureau’s academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Patel indicated that the uptick in potential threats against President Trump since Comey’s May 15 post has been so substantial that the FBI has had to redirect significant resources – including agents focused on child sex crimes and drug trafficking – to investigate them.
“Do you know how many agents I’ve had to take offline from chasing down child sex predators, fentanyl traffickers, terrorists .. because everywhere across this country people are popping up on social media and think that a threat to the life of the president of the United States is a joke … and they can do it because [Comey] did it?” the FBI chief said.

Elon Musk announced that his time working in the Trump administration as a “Special Government Employee” is drawing to a close, and he thanked President Donald Trump.

“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk wrote in a post on X. “The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

Musk’s post comes as the New York Times reported that Musk is “operating with some distance from” Trump, with alleged “White House officials,” claiming that Musk is on “good terms” with the president, though he is “disillusioned with Washington and frustrated with the obstacles he encountered as he upended the federal bureaucracy”:

Mr. Musk, who once called himself the president’s “first buddy,” is now operating with some distance from Mr. Trump as he says he is ending his government work to spend more time on his companies. Mr. Musk remains on good terms with Mr. Trump, according to White House officials. But he has also made it clear that he is disillusioned with Washington and frustrated with the obstacles he encountered as he upended the federal bureaucracy, raising questions about the strength of the alliance between the president and the world’s richest man.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that he is now set to deny visa requests for any foreign official who worked to censor American free speech.

Rubio announced the new policy in a post on X, reading, “For too long, Americans have been fined, harassed, and even charged by foreign authorities for exercising their free speech rights.”

“Today, I am announcing a new visa restriction policy that will apply to foreign officials and persons who are complicit in censoring Americans. Free speech is essential to the American way of life – a birthright over which foreign governments have no authority.”

The State Dept. also put out a statement describing the restrictions.

Free speech is among the most cherished rights we enjoy as Americans. This right, legally enshrined in our constitution, has set us apart as a beacon of freedom around the world. Even as we take action to reject censorship at home, we see troubling instances of foreign governments and foreign officials picking up the slack. In some instances, foreign officials have taken flagrant censorship actions against U.S. tech companies and U.S. citizens and residents when they have no authority to do so.

Today, I am announcing a new visa restriction policy that will apply to foreign nationals who are responsible for censorship of protected expression in the United States. It is unacceptable for foreign officials to issue or threaten arrest warrants on U.S. citizens or U.S. residents for social media posts on American platforms while physically present on U.S. soil. It is similarly unacceptable for foreign officials to demand that American tech platforms adopt global content moderation policies or engage in censorship activity that reaches beyond their authority and into the United States. We will not tolerate encroachments upon American sovereignty, especially when such encroachments undermine the exercise of our fundamental right to free speech.

America and Argentina will create a new alternative to the pro-abortion WHO after both countries leave the controversial UN agency.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his Argentine counterpart on Tuesday announced the United States and Argentina are creating an “alternative international health system” to the World Health Organization (WHO). President Donald Trump on his first day in office signed an executive order that began the year-long process of withdrawing from the WHO for multiple reasons, including its abortion advocacy and botched handling of COVID.

Kennedy and Argentine Minister of Health Mario Lugones criticized the WHO in a joint statement saying its poor performance left “devastating global consequences.”

“The absence of meaningful reforms, disproportionate financial demands, and the increasing politicization of the organization have ultimately led the United States and Argentina to withdraw from the WHO,” they said. “Withdrawal marks the beginning of a new path—toward building a modern global health cooperation model grounded in scientific integrity, transparency, sovereignty, and accountability.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed legislation on Tuesday to start the process of allowing Floridians to pay for goods and services with precious metals such as gold and silver.

A report will be given to the state legislature, which has until November 1, 2025, to ratify the rules. The law would take effect on July 1, 2026.

If ratified, the law would establish precious metals as a legal form of tender, but it specifies that accepting them would be optional, except for check cashers and money service businesses. Any business seeking to accept precious metals as payment must obtain a license.

“That means these precious metals can start functioning like real currency again, not just investment vehicles for the wealthy,” DeSantis said.

Purchases of precious metals will be exempt from sales tax.

Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the House Judiciary Committee are investigating a potential “criminal enterprise” involving federal funds.

“We’ve heard it: the individuals that the mayor is standing with are murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, sexual predators, child traffickers…the list goes on,” Ogles said from the Tennesee State Capitol building on Monday.

A federal judge has sided with the Trump administration, resolving a dispute with New York Attorney General Letitia James about the expansive scope of cost-cutters to examine U.S. Treasury payments that they claim are laden with wasteful spending.

James was among 18 Democratic attorneys general who filed suit to block an investigation by the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency into the Treasury payment system. The coterie was dealt a severe setback on Tuesday when U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas, for the Southern District of New York, lifted the last legal hurdle for the four DOGE employees tasked with carrying out the investigation.

An earlier order was also relaxed after the Trump administration showed evidence that it appropriately trained the four employees to safeguard sensitive taxpayer information during the probe. In April, Vargas granted access to one DOGE employee after they completed a similar training program.

Prior to those decisions, the judge, a Biden appointee, was mostly siding with the state prosecutors who argued that Treasury’s processes for granting access were poorly established, a likely violation of law.

The Texas legislature has passed a bill protecting single sex spaces, such as girls’ locker rooms in schools, and mandating identification by biological sex on government-issued documents, including driver’s licenses and other photo IDs.

House Bill 229 passed in the Texas Senate early Wednesday by an exact party-line vote of 20 to 11, according to the Texas Tribune. The bill, which passed in the Texas House on May 12, defines “female” and “woman” as “an individual whose biological reproductive system is developed to produce ova.”

The bill, sponsored by Republican Texas state Rep. Ellen Troxclair, also defines “male” or “man” as “an individual whose biological reproductive system is developed to fertilize the ova of a female.” The legislation also describes “sex” as “an individual’s biological sex, either male or female.”

Troxclair’s bill states that “there are legitimate reasons to distinguish” between men and women “with respect to athletics, prisons … domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, locker rooms, restrooms, and other areas where biology, safety, or privacy are implicated.”

The Supreme Court let stand a lower court decision that allowed a public school in Massachusetts to prevent a 7th grader identified in court documents as “L.M.” from wearing a T-shirt that read, “There are Only Two Genders.”

The student was given the option of removing the shirt or going home. When he returned, he was wearing a shirt that read, “There Are CENSORED Genders.” Rather than miss more school, the student took off the shirt.

The parents sued on First Amendment grounds but were denied relief by an appeals court.

Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas wrote a scorching dissent based on the First Amendment rights enjoyed by students. That right was codified in a 1969 decision, Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District, where the Supreme Court allowed students to wear a black armband to protest the Vietnam War.

Justice Abe Fortas famously wrote that students do not “shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate.” The exception Fortas cited was “disruptive speech.”

According to ICE, among those apprehended were a known MS-13 gang member and at least one convicted child sex offender. Federal agents also conducted vehicle stops on roads across mid-island, including Old South Road, Surfside Road, and Miacomet Road.

Msgr. Pegoraro succeeds Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, who became president in 2016. Msgr. Pegoraro studied in Padua and Rome, where he obtained a licentiate in moral theology and a diploma in advanced bioethics, according to the Academy for Life website. He was president of the European Association of Centers of Medical Ethics from 2010 to 2013, and he has served as a bioethics lecturer at the Theological Faculty of Trivento.

Pope John Paul II established the Pontifical Academy for Life in 1994, charging it with the task of “defense and promotion of the value of human life and of the dignity of the person,” according to its Vatican profile. Its main actions are to study problems related to promoting and defending human life; assist, through Catholic initiatives, the pro-life formation of persons; and inform Church leaders, the media, other organizations, and civil society in the findings of its research.

Isn’t this kind of part of the problem with Harvard?

The Harvard Crimson reports:

In Trump’s Orders, Harvard’s Most International School Sees a Crisis

At the Harvard Kennedy School, the Trump administration’s attempt to revoke Harvard’s eligibility to enroll international students — temporarily blocked in court — could eliminate nearly 60 percent of the student body.

HKS is Harvard’s most international school, and the proportion of international students there has grown over recent years, reaching a record high of 59 percent in 2024. The announcement that international students might have to transfer or face deportation sent shockwaves across the Kennedy School — as students feared being displaced and faculty worried that the Kennedy School’s identity as a global center for public policy scholarship could hang in the balance.

Ava Moore was killed while kayaking on Sunday when the 21-year-old illegal alien ran her over with a jet ski and fled the scene.

Authorities say the two entered the country illegally in 2023 and 2024.

Mugshots and more details on the two arrestees were published by Bill Melugin:

Police say 21-year-old Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez struck Moore with her jet ski, then fled the scene in a vehicle w/ another Venezuelan illegal alien, 21-year-old Maikel Coello Perozo, and they hit another car while fleeing.

Both have now been arrested by TX authorities, and a press conference will be held tomorrow morning by Texas Game Wardens, Grapevine PD, & Homeland Security Investigations.

Last Friday, Democratic press secretary turned MSNBC host, Jen Psaki had on former FBI director James Comey to talk about his new book, a fictional story that centered on a right-wing influencer who directed his followers to commit violence. Psaki used biased questions and responses to validate Comey’s outrageous claims that right-wing podcasters were like Islam extremists and were “white supremacist adjacent,” not just in his book, but in real life.

Psaki asks the question:

I think you’ve told me, you enjoy writing fiction. It — it’s fiction, but it centers around a right-wing influencer who directs his followers to commit violence. Which feels, it’s not exactly topical in this moment, but it feels like something we’ve been talking about for several years. What — what inspired you? Is there a specific moment or person that inspired you to write about that storyline?

This prompted Comey to suggest that right-wing podcasters were using the internet to reach and radicalize young men in a way akin to ISIS:

I’m trying to write stuff that grips people, but is also real. And this is a threat we’ve been dealing with since the Islamic State came on the scene in 2014 and was using the internet to reach troubled people and move them to violence. Well, that threat has now gotten much larger because podcasts are everywhere, and it’s a tool in white identity extremism trying to motivate young men. Especially to move towards violence because they’re being replaced, they’re being attacked, America is under assault. This is a real feature of the FBI’s work, and so I thought it would make an — a good setting for a crime novel.

A watchdog representing energy workers is raising red flags after conducting a review of significant executive orders signed by autopen under the previous administration and finding “no evidence” that President Biden was aware of them.

The billionaires who control the left decided to make Elon Musk the boogeyman at the start of the Trump Administration. Anything that went wrong anywhere was the fault of Cousin Elon and DOGE. Low-information voters think Elon is stealing their health care, social security and personal information because that’s what Democrats lied about, knowing the media would swear by it. Nevertheless, he persisted because he felt the work DOGE was doing was important. His reward for taking on all the attacks and working twenty-hour days?

Republicans not doing anything to codify DOGE cuts into law, and then passing a big, beautiful bill that increased the deficit.

Welcome to the Tea Party circa 2010, Elon. We coined a phrase for this. “Failure Theater.”

I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing. I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful, but I don’t know if it can be both. My personal opinion.
