“You are playing with fire, risking the destabilization of our democracy, while knowing that California can neutralize any gains you hope to make.”

Governor Gavin Newsom is demanding that President Donald Trump respond to his threat to redraw the California congressional district maps, as President Donald Trump and others in the GOP have been pushing to redraw district maps in Texas and other states for Republicans to pick up a few more seats in Congress in the 2026 midterms.

Newsom wrote in the letter, dated August 11, “I am writing to ask you to call on the governor of Texas and other red states, who are acting on your request to draw new congressional maps through an unprecedented, mid-decade hyper-partisan gerrymander to rig the upcoming term elections, to stop those efforts.”

Monday on the social media platform X, reporter Nick Minock of WJLA in Washington, D.C., posted a photo of a note taped to a car window in the nation’s capital.

“There is nothing of value in this car,” the note read. “Only restaurant supplies + broken dreams. Plz don’t break the windows for the fifth time.”

Senator Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) favorability rating in New York has dropped to its lowest level since Siena College began polling two decades ago. The longtime Senate Democrat leader is now receiving more negative than positive ratings statewide and, for the first time, among New York City voters.

A new Siena College poll shows Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) registering a 38 percent favorable rating and 50 percent unfavorable rating among New York voters, his lowest numbers recorded by the pollster since it began tracking his standing in February 2005. That marks a decline from June, when his favorability stood at 41 percent and unfavorable rating at 47 percent.

Over the past year, I have investigated all of the six major cases against Donald Trump that played out simultaneously between his two administrations for my book Breaking the Law. Each one of them involves obvious improprieties that necessitate investigations. In many instances, I believe investigators will find criminal activity, which ought to be prosecuted.

It is encouraging and heartening to see that the Department of Justice has taken up a criminal investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia “Tish” James and that the Office of the Special Counsel is investigating Special Counsel Jack Smith. This could mark a new era of accountability in this country and a return to law and order.

“I can tell you firsthand here in downtown DC, where we work, right here around our bureau, just in the past six months, you know, there were two people shot, one person died, literally two blocks down here from the bureau,” Phillips explained.

Error-prone science reporter Apoorva Mandavilli, infamous for her alarmist and faulty COVID-era reporting, made the front page of Monday’s New York Times with a story on a gunman’s assault on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters in Atlanta that killed a policeman, “C.D.C. Shooting Followed Years of Demonization — Staff Feels Betrayed as Fears Come True.

The story served both as news and, for Mandavilli, a way to again smear those who opposed the bureaucratic authoritarianism (mandatory masking and vaccines, shuttered small businesses, theatres, and schools) of the COVID era. She quickly took the conservative “disinformation” angle.

The day after a lone gunman opened fire on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, killing a police officer and shattering windows across the agency’s campus, employees were reeling from shock, fear and rage.

Democrats are increasingly explicit about their goals to turn illegal aliens into future voters — making Republican talk of amnesty or compromise more worrisome. Those efforts would be nothing less than hammering the final nails into the coffin of both the Republican Party and America.

At a Fort Worth “The People vs. The Power Grab” rally, Beto O’Rourke laid it out plainly.

“We absolutely failed to live up to the expectations that we set, so next time we win power, we’re going to drive that car like we stole it,” O’Rourke said. “We’re going to legalize every DREAMer, every DREAMer’s parents, every hardworking American doing backbreaking work that makes this country so g-dd-mn great in the first place, even greater as US citizens.”

Judge Beryl Howell ruled against Trump at every turn. She previously ordered Trump’s lawyer Evan Corcoran to testify before a grand jury in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago.

There’s something odd happening as we get into the thick of the 2026 midterm season: Republicans are raking in the cash. Sure, there are spots where Democratic candidates, such as Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), are doing well with fundraising, but overall, it’s red all over. It’s usually the opposite, with Democrats being the big money party, outraising and outspending Republicans—Donald Trump knows a thing or two about that in 2016. But the tables have turned: Trump is president again, Republicans are back in control of Congress, and the Democratic Party brand is viewed atrociously by voters, the worst in over half a century. Democrats are hoping for a Trump trip-up from which they can capitalize, but none has materialized.

President Donald Trump’s decision to place the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., under federal control and deploy National Guard troops in response to the city’s escalating crime crisis has ignited a firestorm of predictable resistance from Democratic leaders and their media allies. Despite glaring evidence that crime spirals out of control in the nation’s capital, Democrats cling desperately to a narrative of declining violence, parroting doctored statistics and political spin as though doing so magically erases the reality that D.C. residents face.

Trump announced the deployment of the National Guard and declared a federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to combat crime in the the nation’s capital Monday, days after Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer Edward Coristine, known by the moniker “Big Balls,” was severely injured when he intervened to prevent a carjacking. Matthews and “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski noted that by insisting that crime was decreasing, Democrats were playing into Trump’s hands.

Speaking to reporters at the Kennedy Center Wednesday, President Donald Trump gave a preview about how his administration plans to make Washington D.C. not just safer, but functional and beautiful again.

“We’re going to redo roads. We’re going to redo the medians, the pavers,” Trump said. “We’re going to take all the graffiti off. We’re gonna have to remove the tents and the people that are living in our parks. We’re going to be redoing the parks—the grasses and all.”

During a briefing at the White House Tuesday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed options for the homeless.

“Seventy homeless encampments have been removed by the U.S. Park Police,” Leavitt revealed. “There are only two homeless encampments remaining in D.C. federal parks under the National Park Service’s jurisdiction, and the removal of those two remaining camps is scheduled for this week.”

“If they refuse [removal], they [homeless] will be susceptible to fines or to jail time. These are pre-existing laws that are already on the books. They have not been enforced,” she continued, adding there are options to go to shelters or seek substance abuse treatment.

A bombshell set of newly declassified FBI documents is creating questions over former FBI Director James Comey’s role in shaping the “Russia collusion” narrative against President Donald Trump — and whether classified information was intentionally leaked to damage Trump’s presidency.

According to Solomon, Comey sought to rehabilitate his image among Democrats after the 2016 election while simultaneously harming Trump’s reputation.

“What you find out is that James Comey decided not to work through the FBI press office when he wanted to change the narrative

On Monday, Trump declared a state of emergency in Washington under the Home Rule Act, which allows the president to federalize the metropolitan police for 30 days. He said he plans to ask for “long-term extensions” because 30 days is not long enough.

President Donald Trump had the presidential and legal authority to terminate billions of taxpayer dollars to the U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) and its countless overseas pet projects, the Washington D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed this week.

Ever since Trump issued his day-one executive order effectively freezing USAID’s wasting of Americans’ hard-earned dollars, judges have encroached on his presidential authority by hampering his power to impound, or “decline to spend the full amount of an appropriated fund.”

In its 2-1 ruling published on Wednesday, the D.C. Circuit Court not only reversed those attempts, but also paved the way to limit the number of lawsuits and subsequent injunctions designed to keep Trump from doing his job by curbing American subsidization of covert programs like Iraqi “Sesame Street,” LGBT initiatives abroad, and even meals for terrorists.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) asked the FBI to intervene to help bring back state House Democrats who left Texas earlier this week to block the GOP from advancing a congressional redistricting map.

Dozens of Texas state House Democrats left for other states, including Illinois and New York, this week, preventing state Republicans from doing business in the House on Monday. The remaining representatives voted to issue civil arrest warrants to the Democrats, while Gov. Greg Abbott ordered their arrest later that day.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has sent the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) a request for a treasure trove of documents related to the ongoing federal investigation into the Obama administration’s Russiagate operation, The Federalist has learned. According to a letter to ODNI senior adviser Paul McNamara, which was obtained by The Federalist, the DOJ has requested from ODNI a wide array of documents about the Obama administration’s 2016 and 2017 attempts to frame then-President-elect Donald Trump as an agent of Russia who stole the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton.

The request comes on the heels of the declassification and public release of records from late 2016 and 2017 which show how top intelligence and law enforcement officials — including former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former DNI James Clapper — conspired to fabricate a narrative that Russia meddled in the 2016 election in order to elect Trump. The declassified records showed that top intelligence experts objected to the narrative, highlighted myriad issues with the so-called intelligence used to support false claims about Trump, and even told Brennan that he was misrepresenting facts and ignoring counter-evidence as part of a push to attack Trump, cripple his transition, and even hijack his presidency.

Fox News reported on Monday that the DOJ had authorized the empaneling of a federal grand jury to investigate whether Comey, Brennan, or other top Obama administration officials committed any crimes as part of their operation to use the nation’s top intelligence and law enforcement agencies to smear Trump.

The DOJ letter from a federal prosecutor, which was sent in response to a request from Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard for the DOJ to investigate any potential criminal wrongdoing related to the production of the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) that claimed without evidence that Russia sought to elect Trump in 2016, asks for 12 different categories of documents related to Gabbard’s criminal referral.

“Pursuant to the authority and director of the United States Attorney General, I have been assigned responsibility for investigating this criminal referral,” the letter states.

“You guys figure out your elections. I’m going to focus on mine.”

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) avoided questions on the endorsement of socialist candidate for New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani, during a recent CNN interview. This comes after some Democrats have thrown their support behind the far-left candidate, and others have refrained from doing so.

In an interview that aired on Sunday on CNN with Booker, the New Jersey Senator was asked if he supported Mamdani, like other Democrats have done in recent weeks after the socialist candidate beat former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral primary. “Democratic leaders are not supporting [Mamdani]. Is that a problem? Do you support him?” CNN’s Manu Raju asked.

Booker avoided the question altogether and said that the “lines that divide us in America are not nearly as strong as the ties that bind us.”

“Big corporations, people want to keep our eyes on the screen, want to pit us against each other and tell us how much we should hate each other. I am sorry. The left-right lens is not the right lens to look at this right now,” Booker added. “Right now it is: Can we get back to the pragmatic work of governing?”

After Booker dodged the question, the CNN host pressed him again, asking, “Mamdani, are you going to support him?” Booker declined to endorse the socialist.

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) announced her support for New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani yesterday, suggesting that he is offering solutions and that this is the Democratic message.

None of this is surprising. Warren has always had one foot in the Bernie Sanders/AOC wing of the party. She is also always eager to be out in front of whatever the party’s far left base is embracing at any given time.

From Politico:

‘Talk about affordability’: Warren boosts Mamdani as model for Democratic victory

Elizabeth Warren doesn’t have a problem with Zohran Mamdani being the face of the Democrats. In fact, she wants the rest of the party to follow his example on affordability.

The progressive senator from Massachusetts swung by New York City on Monday to pay homage to Mamdani, who overwhelmingly won the Democratic nomination for mayor in June — but still hasn’t secured endorsements from many of New York’s party leaders.

“Come talk about affordability for families,” Warren said at an affordable childcare event, when asked to respond to the democratic socialist’s many detractors. “This is who Democrats fight for, and Zohran is on the front lines in that fight out there fighting for families.”

FBI Director Kash Patel challenged news media to own who is really “lying” about his discovery of a stash of classified documents connected to the Trump-Russia collusion narrative weaponized against Donald Trump in his first term.

Posting on X Saturday, the director evoked his role as senior counsel for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence during the first Trump term and wrote:
