Another Huge Migrant Caravan Heads for America Ahead of The Mid-Terms, Banking on a Democrat Win– gellerreport.com

Another migrant caravan has reportedly left Mexico’s southern border heading toward the United States—and, according to Julio Rosas, some participants are hoping Democrats win the midterms. That political calculation deserves Americans’ attention: a Democratic victory means illegal entry into this country . The administration’s message must remain unequivocal: joining a caravan creates no entitlement to admission. Voters should demand equally clear answers from congressional candidates. Democrats will not fund immigration enforcement, support ICE or uphold the border. Border security is on the ballot, and promises mean nothing without enforcement.

A security crackdown is being prepared after nationwide unrest resulted in hundreds of businesses being looted and buildings set on fire last weekend

France will deploy military personnel from its counterterrorism force to support police during a new wave of nationwide protests, as the government prepares a “massive” security operation following some of the worst riots in years.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced the move on Tuesday, confirming that soldiers from Operation Sentinelle, established to protect France against terrorist attacks, would be mobilized ahead of demonstrations scheduled for Saturday.

The troops will primarily take over guarding sensitive locations, freeing police and gendarmes to confront rioters and prevent a repeat of last weekend’s widespread violence and looting. According to French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, 1,000 military personnel will be available in Paris on October 24, including 500 on patrol, compared with the usual 300.

Feds hold back additional $1.2 billion in California Medicaid funds– www.latimes.com

EXCERPT:

The Trump administration is deferring an additional $1.2 billion in Medicaid reimbursements to California, citing concerns about potential fraud in a state program that helps older adults and people with disabilities with everyday tasks.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said federal officials took action after they grew concerned about the rapid expansion of California’s personal care services program in recent years. State officials were notified of the decision Tuesday, he said.

“California has been growing that program 24% in the last three years. That is twice the rate of every other state average in the country,” Oz said. “Impossible for us to understand how that could be so we are taking major action in California.”

Oz did not provide any evidence of fraud but suggested the state was paying people too much taxpayer money to help with services that could be offered for free, like “paying somebody to carry groceries upstairs for your mom.”

“Many of you would carry groceries upstairs for your mom for free, but in California, they will pay you a lot of money for it,” he said.

The move is the latest in a series of efforts by the administration to withhold federal money from California. In May, the administration held back $1.3 billion in Medicaid reimbursements to the state over concerns about “fraudsters” in the state’s hospice and in-home care programs. The actions have been part of a broad effort by the administration to rein in fraud in federal healthcare benefits programs, particularly in Democrat-led states.

Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla criticized the administration’s decision.

Senator Slotkin Hit With Ethics Complaint After Sharing Plan to Send ‘Deterrence Message’ to Aspiring Trump Staffers › American Greatness– amgreatness.com

EXCERPT:

A government watchdog group has filed a Senate ethics complaint against Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), alleging her recent remarks about deterring young people from working for the Trump administration crossed the line into threats against public service.

Speaking at a University of Chicago event last Tuesday, Slotkin spilled about the Democrats’ plan to pursue high-profile corruption cases against Trump officials to create “a deterrence message” for prospective government employees.

“I want young people coming out of school to say, ‘Should I go work for the Trump administration? That sounds fun, I might get an opportunity,’” Slotkin said. “I want them to be like, ‘Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems I don’t want, and so let me avoid participating in that,’” she continued. “I want that deterrence message sent.”

The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) submitted the complaint to Senate Ethics Committee Chairman James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Vice Chairman Chris Coons (D-Del.), requesting an investigation into whether Slotkin’s comments violated Senate ethical standards.

CASA Director James Fitzpatrick called the remarks “extremely troubling and a potential violation of Senate Ethics rules,” citing the provision that allows discipline for conduct that “unfavorably reflects on the institution as a whole.”

A separate meeting, confirmed by Serge Papin, minister for small and medium-size enterprises on X, was held on Monday with major online reselling platforms where “an agreement was signed” to crack down on the resale of looted goods. French newspaper Le Monde reported that Vinted, eBay, Amazon, LeBonCoin, Meta, and TikTok were at the meeting. Platforms agreed to forward reports to investigators, monitor ads for goods stolen specifically during the protests, and send the government reports of their actions, with the first one coming within 48 hours, according to Papin.

Peaceful demonstrations against high living costs and strained public services, including schools, erupted into rioting and the looting of more than 1,500 shops and businesses over the weekend. Police “lost control” in some cities, Interior minister Laurent Nuñez admitted, as they responded with tear gas, water cannon, and batons. They have since arrested more than 2,400 people, according to authorities.

French penal law can hand down a five-year sentence and a €375,000 fine to anyone who is concealing, possessing, or transferring an item that they know was obtained through a crime or offense. Police issued a warning in the Netherlands that online ecommerce sites could have a higher number of stolen goods online due to the riots.

The French Alliance of Marketplaces, a nonprofit representing French online retailers such as Back Market, eBay, Etsy, LeBonCoin, ManoMano, and Vinted, said in a press release that its members are relying on user reports, human oversight, and tech tools to monitor ads that resell stolen goods from the riots. When identified, a fake ad is removed and “measures are taken against the accounts involved,” which could include permanent suspension of the seller’s account, according to a statement from eBay. The time it takes for eBay to take action “depends on the nature of the report and the necessary verification process,” the company said. Vinted, Amazon, LeBonCoin, Meta, and TikTok did not respond to WIRED’s request for comment.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels struck a residential area in Yemen’s third-largest city on Tuesday, killing two teenage girls and renewed attention to the dangers faced by civilians in Taiz, which has been under attack and siege during the country’s escalating conflict.

The Houthis have largely encircled Taiz and cut off most supply routes from government-held areas, putting civilians at “grave risk,” U.N. human rights chief Volker Türk said Tuesday. The U.N. says the siege has sent prices soaring, leaving many residents without food and other necessities.

Also on Tuesday, a senior Yemeni government official said the death toll from a Houthi missile strike a day earlier on a government military camp rose to 73 people, making it the deadliest strike since the resurgence of the conflict over the summer.

The conflict has only intensified since forces from the internationally recognized government and Saudi-led coalition launched airstrikes on Houthi-held Sanaa International Airport in July, shattering a 2022 ceasefire deal that largely stopped fighting in the country’s civil war.

Federal authorities arrested a 24-year-old Kansas man after he allegedly threatened to assassinate President Donald Trump during a campaign rally, claiming he had already mapped out rooftops surrounding the president’s scheduled appearance.

The suspect, identified as Jaden J. Read of Clearwater, Kansas, was taken into custody Saturday, October 17, just two days before Trump was scheduled to address supporters near Wichita.

According to the Justice Department, Read posted a series of disturbing messages on Facebook threatening to shoot the president, including one in which he appeared to reference the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The threats prompted an investigation involving the U.S. Secret Service and multiple law enforcement agencies, ultimately resulting in federal charges against Read before Trump’s arrival in Kansas.

The investigation began October 15 after authorities received a Crime Stoppers tip concerning comments posted beneath a Facebook article from local television station KAKE News about Trump’s upcoming visit.

Investigators determined that Read had allegedly published multiple threatening statements, including one directly calling for someone to shoot the president.

“Let’s shoot Trump honestly, where’s our shooter? I’m tired of living this money life,” Read allegedly wrote.

In a separate comment, the suspect claimed to have obtained ammunition and expressed his intention to kill Trump.

A winery co-owned by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and her husband has been shut down due to allegations of fraud, according to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY).

The wine business, which Omar previously listed with a multi-million-dollar value in financial disclosures, sold investors empty barrels purportedly containing wine to be aged before shutting down amid fraud allegations.

Comer highlighted the allegations during an appearance on Fox News, renewing scrutiny of a business whose reported value soared on Omar’s financial disclosures before she attributed discrepancies to an accounting error.

“I can tell you from our initial investigation of Omar and her financial disclosure form that there are multiple fronts where you could get a search warrant issued,” Comer told host Trey Gowdy.

“First of all, not only was there a huge discrepancy in the financial disclosure form, there was the winery that was the big base of her $25 million listing on her financial disclosure form.

“That winery has, according to the press, been shut down because of fraud,” Comer said.

“Stephen Hubbard, taken four years ago by Russia during the Biden Administration, was just released from prison, at the request of President Donald J. Stephen is on his way back home and will soon be with his family,” President Donald Trump posted to Truth Social on Wednesday.

Trump noted that this was not a prisoner exchange, but just a release.

“The United States, out of respect for President Trump, was not required to give anything in return – an unprecedented situation for Russia. There was no ‘swap’ necessary for this release. This major return should have taken place long ago through the Biden Administration, which got nowhere in its negotiations with the Kremlin,” the president added.

EXCERPT:

MILAN — Italy announced new security measures on Tuesday aimed at tackling the kind of violent protests that caused damage to Milan ‘s central shopping district when weekend rioters, many of them minors, looted stores and set fire to property.

A government decree calls for the deployment of an additional 500 soldiers to Milan through the end of the year, requiring parents to pay for damage caused by minors and making it easier to prosecute minors over 14.

In a video posted on social media, Premier Giorgia Meloni said the presence of so many young rioters was “painful and frightening.”

“Young people … came to the square to smash things, steal and film themselves doing it,” Meloni said. “This is a phenomenon that we must address seriously, also to prevent those images from becoming a model for others to imitate.”

The decree also creates a new criminal offense of violent participation in a demonstration, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to 20,000 euros ($22,500). Penalties increase if offenders cover their faces or someone is injured.

Protesters will be responsible for paying for property damage, with parents liable for damage caused by minors, Meloni said.

The decree, which must be converted to law by parliament within 60 days, also automatically presumes that anyone over age 14 is capable of understanding their own actions, unless proven otherwise. That until now was up to a judge to determine.

EU not reconsidering Russian gas embargo due to risk of split — expert – Business & Economy– tass.com

EXCERPT:

MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. The European Union is not revising its decision on the Russian gas embargo, despite the unfavorable timing for its implementation, Alexey Belogoryev, Research Director at the Institute for Energy and Finance, told TASS. Reversing the restrictions could cause a split within the EU, as Poland, the Baltic states, and Finland would likely oppose such a move, he added.

The expert noted that most European countries have ruled out the return of Russian gas supplies. According to him, despite the current crisis in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies, Europe has not abandoned its plan to introduce an embargo on Russian LNG on January 1, 2027, during the peak of the heating season.

“It is difficult to imagine a more unfavorable moment for introducing an embargo. Nevertheless, we see no changes to this decision, precisely because reversing it is extremely difficult. At the very least, a number of EU countries – Poland, the Baltic states, and Finland – would likely not allow this. This risks a split within the EU, which the European Commission is constantly trying to prevent and overcome,” Belogoryev said.

According to the expert, it is currently difficult to predict what fundamental changes in Europe’s political stance would be required to overturn, revise, or ease the decisions on the Russian gas embargo. “The European decision-making system and bureaucracy are structured such that canceling already adopted decisions, even if they are economically disadvantageous, is much more difficult than moving them forward,” he concluded.

The family of the chief whose image inspired one of the most iconic logos in NFL history, the Washington Redskins, wants to take their case to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to restore the franchise’s treasured past.

Two Guns White Calf of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation inspired Walter “Blackie” Wetzel’s 1971 Redskins logo, which the franchise used until former owner Daniel Snyder abruptly discontinued it in 2020.

“He was such a leader, and he had a hold on the National Football League for 50 years,” said estate representative Morningstar Gopher.

While the logo and team moniker sparked controversy over the years, Native Americans overwhelmingly either supported the Redskins name or didn’t mind it.

“They tried to erase us, like we didn’t exist anymore,” estate lead Kenneth Conway told WTVR.

The family contends that after years of defending the team’s name, Snyder suddenly moved to cancel it without any consultation.

“They did not even ask our family for approval. They didn’t ask for nothing from us. I mean, we literally got erased,” said historian Brock Conway.

Now, the family wants to take their case to the very top.

Two of America’s largest defense contractors reported record order backlogs Tuesday, with RTX securing nearly $23 billion in Tomahawk cruise missile contracts as the Pentagon faced mounting costs to replace weapons expended during the war with Iran.

RTX disclosed a record $340 billion companywide backlog, including $164 billion in defense orders, while Northrop Grumman reported a record $109.6 billion in outstanding contracts. Although neither company attributed its overall backlog to the Iran conflict, RTX secured major orders for Tomahawk missiles and missile defense interceptors, weapons the U.S. military expended during the fighting.

RTX reported quarterly revenue climbed 11% to nearly $25 billion, according to its earnings release. Its Raytheon defense division generated $8 billion in sales, a 14% increase from a year earlier, driven by higher production volumes on naval weapons, Patriot air defense systems, Standard Missiles and Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Raytheon’s operating profit jumped 32% to $1.13 billion, while RTX secured more than $81 billion in new commercial aerospace and defense awards during the quarter.

RTX CEO Chris Calio said approximately $23 billion in Tomahawk contracts and more than $14 billion in AMRAAM missile orders accounted for the majority of the company’s nearly $59 billion in quarterly defense bookings. The Tomahawk orders included a $22.9 billion contract awarded in August to expand production for the U.S. Navy.

France has a proud tradition of protesting, and sometimes people lose their heads– abcnews.com

PARIS — No nation does mass protests quite like France.

When the French fight high fuel taxes, they don yellow vests and march. When angry farmers want better pay, hundreds of them drive tractors down the Champs-Élysées. And when museum workers want better tourist management, they strike and shut down the Louvre.

Passionate public protest is as French as “La Marseillaise,” the 1792 anthem that enshrines the collective duty to fight tyranny in the country’s national identity. But this month, the most violent demonstrations in years — and tough policing — have raised concern about riots overshadowing hundreds of thousands of peaceful demonstrators marching against rising living costs and poor conditions in schools.

On Saturday alone, at least 2,400 people were arrested after rioters in cities across France clashed with police, set cars on fire, stormed public buildings, looted stores and engulfed a historic city hall in flames. More protests could be in store.

“How can French people do this to France?” outgoing President Emmanuel Macron asked on Sunday. Nothing justifies the destruction, he added. “We all feel anger and shame.”

But any student of French history would know that the nation’s proud, loud and colorful protest culture has sometimes turned violent — starting with the beheadings of King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette during the revolution that overthrew the monarchy in 1789.

Historians say the revolution was where the modern-day French tradition of civic engagement as a duty was born. The idea is that voting is not the only way to drive change; demonstration is considered a bedrock value, a way to make elites hear the populace and to defend freedoms. The moment a child becomes an activist is seen as a generations-old rite of passage. The right to protest is even constitutionally protected.

“It’s a way to build collective identity and political community,” said Magali Della Sudda, research director in political science at the French National Center for Scientific Research in Bordeaux.

France’s post-revolution history is not a solid story of protests and reforms, but of cycles of popular uprisings, repression, mobilization and political concessions. The tradition has turned tragic; In 1871, government troops cracked down on the new “Paris Commune,” or municipal government, reportedly killing thousands.

“Higher ed policies and practices that tolerate antisemitism or favor certain racial groups over others frustrate our color-blind justice system.”

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has agreed to maintain race-blind admissions, require antisemitism training for students and employees, and strengthen protections for Jewish and Israeli students under a settlement with the Trump administration resolving federal civil rights investigations.

The university-wide agreement, announced Monday by the Department of Justice, covers UNC’s undergraduate, graduate and professional schools, along with its other programs. It will remain in effect through December 31, 2028.

The settlement resolves investigations under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin at institutions receiving federal financial assistance. According to DOJ, the Education Department will close 18 active investigations, while the Justice Department will close a separate compliance review opened April 18, 2025.

“Title VI requires that all students — regardless of their ancestry or race — receive equal treatment under the law at federally funded colleges and universities,” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon. “Higher ed policies and practices that tolerate antisemitism or favor certain racial groups over others frustrate our color-blind justice system,” she continued. “The Civil Rights Division commends UNC for its cooperation in meeting its obligations under federal law without the need for litigation; we hope other institutions will take note and do the same.”

Under the agreement, UNC must maintain policies to prevent and punish unlawful antisemitic discrimination, explicitly protect Jewish and Israeli students under its nondiscrimination policy, and promptly assess and investigate antisemitism complaints. The university must provide mandatory antisemitism training to students, faculty, and staff, deploy additional law enforcement resources when circumstances warrant protecting Jewish and Israeli students, and discipline student organizations for antisemitic discriminatory conduct.

The sister of Kim Jong-un has issued a chilling threat to South Korea, as she stepped out without the North Korean leader. Kim Yo-jong confirmed that North Korea has moved new military units into “firing positions” along the border as she visited areas being reinforced by soldiers, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

She said: “Our military leadership underlined the need to make those rogues aware that our new firepower units have taken their firing positions.”

Jin Yong-sung, chairman of South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, described Kim Yo-jong’s threat as “intolerable” and ordered the military to “respond with firm resolve”.

This comes amid rumours of her brother’s death, which were dispelled by KCNA after they released photos of the dictator at a public event. They showed Kim and his daughter visiting a clothing and footwear exhibition in Pyongyang on Monday.

They were published after a US-based Chinese dissident claimed on social media that he’d suffered a brain haemorrhage and died in a hospital in Beijing, though no evidence for this was given.

She accused the country of firing warning shots and broadcasting alerts repeatedly at the border since August, after North Korean soldiers breached the border.

She said: “A grave situation is prevailing along the southern border due to the reckless behaviour of the ROK military gangsters.”

Kim said North Korea was contemplating “deploying more tactical strike means along the southern border as a preemptive and suppressive measure to deal with contingency, and of resuming the loudspeaker broadcasting against the ROK.”

Fairfield Township, New Jersey, is a perfect object lesson in what happens when entitled minority populations decide that they can play by their own rules.

Al-Ghazaly High School is an Islamic private institution in the New York City suburbs. Local officials approved the school, run by the Islamic Education Foundation, based on the understanding that it would school 90 students in its current property, according to a report from The New Jersey Progress.

Instead, the school has enrolled around 313 students since it was given a Certificate of Re-Occupancy earlier this year, and practically demanded that local authorities increase its authorized student number to 400.

During a planning board meeting last Tuesday, IEF Schools executive director Hayat Jaludi defended her decision to blatantly disregard the student limit based on the fact that, well, kids wanted to be educated.

Sure, she didn’t have permission, but she apparently didn’t think she needed it to flood the school and break the regulations.

“Hold on, hold on — how can you have 314 students in a building when you’re only allowed to have 90?” one of the board members asked.

Jaludi said that “we came into this building assuming that we have the occupancy of whatever enrolled students we have.”

The Tehran that the world knew is gone. It died in the fires with former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day of the war in February. His son and new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei — wherever he is and in whatever physical condition — witnessed his father, wife, and other close family members die in the same airstrike that wounded him. The White House believed that the conflict would last only a few weeks, but the Islamic Republic has proven less fragile than anticipated by the United States and Israel, who now must deal with surviving Iranian leaders who experienced similar trauma and loss in early strikes. Washington has struggled to appreciate how its devastating attacks altered Tehran’s mindset: The White House instead still expresses confusion at “crazy” Iranian behavior that won’t return to prewar expectations.

I argue here that the “crazy” Iranian behavior confounding Washington in part reflects a subtle but important shift in Iran’s mindset. The U.S.-led attack was end-of-days fodder for true believers inside the upper echelons of the Islamic Republic, who listened to years of paranoid predictions about just such an apocalyptic attack at weekly Friday prayers. The surviving members of Iran’s inner circle — the New Tehran — are now acting based on an altered set of strategic principles. Despite the tactical brilliance of the U.S. military, the White House cannot find an endgame and risks turning a crisis into a catastrophe if it cannot adjust to Tehran’s new reality.

As a former CIA analyst, my job for many years was to set aside my personal views and instead see the world as Iranian leaders do. My goal was to get inside the heads of Tehran’s hardliners, who have very different perspectives than Western analysts. Such an exercise can be uncomfortable to do with violent authoritarians hostile to the United States — especially when the exercise challenges one’s core assumptions and values — but it provides helpful clarity when an adversary’s behavior defies expectations. Of course, Iranian leaders do not regularly broadcast their private deliberations — and their public statements can be misleading bravado and propaganda. So divining Iran’s true leadership decision-making is often more art than science. Yet, it is still possible to deduce much of their unspoken internal logic by analyzing regime actions and viewing the world through Tehran’s ideological lens.
