President Donald Trump and Republicans are hoping to cash in politically on the extra amount of cash in Americans’ wallets this Tax Day.

Across the country, Americans are cashing in on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act’s tax provisions and receiving a boost from real wage growth in the Trump economy.

“This tax season, nearly half of all filers have claimed tax cuts that every single congressional Democrat voted against,” House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., told The Daily Signal.

The financial relief from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, now commonly referred to as the Working Families Tax Cuts by Republicans in Congress, has become a major talking point for the GOP in recent months, as the party argues that strong economic fundamentals have helped soften the economic impact of the war in Iran.

Sperm whales’ click-based communication system has patterns that echo how human languages use vowels, according to a new study published today in Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences.

“On the surface, [these vocalizations] sound like this alien, ocean intelligence that has nothing to do with us,” says lead author Gašper Beguš, a linguist at the University of California, Berkeley, who works with Project CETI, a nonprofit that is dedicated to studying sperm whale communication. “But when you actually look at it closely, you realize, ‘Oh, we’re way more similar.’”

Sperm whales flap “phonic lips” (a structure akin to human vocal cords) in their nose to create clicking sounds. They combine these clicks into rhythmic series called codas, which can vary from whale clan to whale clan. In the past, scientists trying to make sense of their communication have tended to focus on the rhythm of these patterns, almost as if deciphering morse code.

Joy Behar says a lot of dumb things, but this might be the most foolish thing she has said to date.

Many instances in the Bible prove that Jesus confirmed he is the Messiah. You don’t even need to be a Christian to understand this very obvious truth. In fact, the entire premise of Christianity was founded on the idea that Jesus is the Messiah. This is why it is bizarre, naive, and objectively stupid for Behar to claim Jesus never said he is who he said he was. And when she was called out of her stupidity, she decided it was narcissism that caused Jesus to confirm he is the Messiah…

We have Matthew 16:15–20, Matthew 26:64, and John 4:25-26, to name several. Does Behar believe all of this was fueled by narcissism? Because if so, that screams more about her arrogance than anyone else’s.

Tensions between Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni escalated Tuesday after the U.S. president publicly rebuked one of his closest European allies, accusing her of lacking “courage” and failing to support Washington’s efforts against Iran.

In a phone interview with Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, Trump called Meloni “unacceptable” and said he was “shocked” by her stance, according to the outlet’s English-language version.

The dispute with Trump was further fueled by Meloni’s criticism of his recent remarks targeting Pope Leo XIV, which she called “unacceptable,” prompting Trump to respond that “she is the one who is unacceptable.”

In a scathing rebuke of the Vatican’s call for Middle Eastern de-escalation, President Trump took to Truth Social to blast Pope Leo XIV. Labeling the pontiff “WEAK on Crime” and “terrible for Foreign Policy,” Trump warned him to “focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician.” The post, which quickly went viral, accused the first American pope of “catering to the Radical Left” at the expense of global security.

Colombia will euthanize Pablo Escobar’s invasive ‘cocaine hippos’

After attempts at relocation and sterilization have failed, invasive hippos introduced by the infamous drug lord will be culled, the country announced

After two years of failed attempts at relocation and sterilization, Colombia’s government has decided it will euthanize 80 of the at least 169 “cocaine hippos” that were once owned by notorious drug trafficker Pablo Escobar. The decision is triggering divided reactions among scientists and activists.

“Without this action it is impossible to control them,” said Colombia’s environment minister Irene Vélez at a press conference on Monday. Citing estimates that the population could reach at least 500 individuals by 2030, “affecting our ecosystems and native species,” she added that “it is our responsibility to take this action.”

Google DeepMind research team introduced Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6, a significant upgrade to its embodied reasoning model designed to serve as the ‘cognitive brain’ of robots operating in real-world environments. The model specializes in reasoning capabilities critical for robotics, including visual and spatial understanding, task planning, and success detection — acting as the high-level reasoning model for a robot, capable of executing tasks by natively calling tools like Google Search, vision-language-action models (VLAs), or any other third-party user-defined functions.

Here is the key architectural idea to understand: Google DeepMind takes a dual-model approach to robotics AI. Gemini Robotics 1.5 is the vision-language-action (VLA) model — it processes visual inputs and user prompts and directly translates them into physical motor commands. Gemini Robotics-ER, on the other hand, is the embodied reasoning model: it specializes in understanding physical spaces, planning, and making logical decisions, but does not directly control robotic limbs. Instead, it provides high-level insights to help the VLA model decide what to do next. Think of it as the difference between a strategist and an executor — Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6 is the strategist.

You know that the Elitist Media have a hard time reporting on the military operation in Iran when a supposed war roundup gets a couple of sentences on the war and then two minutes of seemingly everything else. That’s exactly what happened at ABC when it came time to report on the ongoing U.S. naval blockade against Iran.

Watch the report in its entirety, as aired on ABC World News Tonight on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026:

DAVID MUIR: There are also breaking developments in the war in Iran. President Trump’s high-stakes U.S. naval blockade with the cost of gas $4.10 a gallon here in the U.S., up $1.16 since the start of the war. Tonight, the President says new talks with Iran could come in days. And President Trump tonight lashing out at Pope Leo again, and what he’s saying now. Ian Pannell from the region again tonight.

IAN PANNELL: Tonight, that high-stakes U.S. naval blockade of all Iranian ports is holding. U.S. Central Command saying no ships got past the blockade in the first 24 hours, and six merchant vessels were turned around. The U.S. hoping to choke Iran’s oil income to force concessions in peace talks. And tonight, President Trump signaling a second round of negotiations could be happening soon, along with a deal. The President telling our Jon Karl, quote: “I think you’re going to be watching an amazing two days ahead.”

The President’s made similar predictions at other points during this war. And the President also tonight lashing out at Pope Leo again to an Italian newspaper saying the Pope has no idea what’s going on with Iran. Trump ally Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni slamming the President’s criticism of the Pontiff as, quote, “unacceptable.” And she’s joined other U.S. allies that have refused to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The President blasting Meloni, telling that Italian newspaper “I’m shocked by her. I thought she had courage, I was wrong.” Trump also criticizing NATO allies for not helping with the war effort as he looks increasingly isolated. Another of his key allies, Viktor Orban of Hungary, who was close with Vladimir Putin, now voted out of office, some voters saying it’s a return to democratic values.

And the Lebanese and Israeli governments holding the first direct talks in decades in Washington, both agreeing to more talks.

MARCO RUBIO: This is more than just one day. This will take time, but we believe it is worth this endeavor.

PANNELL: David, this blockade squeezing Iran’s economy. But U.S. gas prices still high at $4.10 a gallon. That’s up $1.16 since the start of the war. And that means pressure on The White House, too, to get a deal done and get that oil flowing again.

MUIR: Ian Pannell from the region again. Ian, thank you.

During Trump’s first term, he launched a trade war with China that caused a crisis in the farming community. However, farmers didn’t learn their lesson. By the time the 2024 election rolled around, farmers had some sort of collective amnesia because they did it all to themselves again. Only this time, it is even worse.

Trump already hit farmers with his tariffs and trade wars. Trump got nearly 78% of the vote from farming communities in 2024, and the president thanked them by shutting down USAID and cutting SNAP.

A new survey of farmers for the American Farm Bureau Federation shows that things are about to get much worse for the nation’s farmers:

Conducted by the American Farm Bureau Federation April 3-11, the survey shows 70% of respondents say fertilizer is so expensive that they will not be able to buy all the fertilizer they need.

More than 5,700 farmers, both Farm Bureau members and non-members, from every state and Puerto Rico took the survey. Farm Bureau economists analyzed the results in the latest Market Intel.

The analysis reveals that almost 8 in 10 farmers in the southern U.S. say they can’t afford all needed supplies this year, followed by the Northeast and West at 69% and 66%, respectively, compared to 48% of the farmers in the Midwest.

Just 19% of farmers in the South prebooked fertilizer purchases in advance of planting season. In the Northeast, only 30% of farmers prebooked, followed by 31% in the West, and 67% in the Midwest. Even with higher pre-booking rates, almost one in three Midwestern farmers still report entering the season without securing all of their fertilizer needs.

Workers in Amazon’s distribution centre in Troutdale, Oregon, were reportedly discouraged from helping a man dead on the floor in the warehouse, with one employee claiming a manager told them “just turn around and not look. Let’s get back to work”.

An employee, identified under the pseudonym Sam, said he saw a body lying “lifeless” at his workplace but was told by a supervisor to “please get back to work”.

Sam, who is trained in CPR, added that multiple workers wanted to help a woman who ran to the person to perform chest compressions, according to The Western Edge.

An investigation by the outlet alleged Amazon attempted to prevent news of the worker’s death on April 6 from becoming public.

Sam said: “I started sobbing and said, ‘I want to help, please.I know she’s going to get tired and need to be subbed out.”

Eric Swalwell’s downfall has raised the possibility of a broader reckoning on Capitol Hill as congressional staffers, reporters and opposition researchers race to verify long-standing rumors of a sordid underground culture among the city’s most powerful.

Former lawmakers across the political spectrum have warned for years of a hushed congressional bacchanal marked by inappropriate revelry and sexual misconduct. But a sense of growing momentum gripped Congress on Tuesday, as Democrats grappled with Swalwell’s resignation and Republicans called for other lawmakers to face scrutiny.

The 72-hour collapse of Swalwell’s political career has shifted attention not only to his closest associates in Congress, but also to a larger set of sitting lawmakers from both parties suspected of lurid sexual activity. Several members have claimed that Swalwell’s alleged behavior was an open secret amid a cacophony of rumors on social media of other potential offenders.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres concurred, saying it’s “highly probable” that talks will restart. He cited a meeting he had with Pakistan’s deputy prime minister, Ishaq Dar.

“There is no military solution to this crisis. Peace agreements require persistent engagement and political will. Serious negotiations must resume,” he said.

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MS NOW’s “The Last Word,” Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said that the Iranian regime “can, on some level of truth, say, we just took on America and Israel and fought them to a tie, although maybe even more than a tie.” And argued that “anybody in history would know you cannot bomb an adversary into submission.”

Warner said, “Lawrence, we have spent 100,000 sorties against them. We have bombed them. But anybody in history would know you cannot bomb an adversary into submission.”

He added that “in so many ways, 46 days in, America is less strong. And the Iranian regime, which is, by the way, more radical than it was before, can, on some level of truth, say, we just took on America and Israel and fought them to a tie, although maybe even more than a tie. They have ballistic missile capabilities, they have closed the strait, their regime is more radical. And I can just say, as I mentioned earlier, if we were to go after their enriched uranium, it would take 10,000 soldiers guarding a perimeter for days, and then we are going to send our special operators in, and the Iranians could bomb that.”

To anyone with a pulse and a smartphone, it’s obvious that the internet has an AI slop problem. The issue has grown more severe since ChatGPT launched in 2022, with some social platforms flooded with AI-generated writing. Now, there’s data to back up the anecdotal evidence.

A new preprint study published today from researchers at the Imperial College of London, Stanford University, and the Internet Archive found that approximately 35 percent of all new websites are either AI-generated or AI-assisted. The same study also found that online writing is “increasingly sanitized and artificially cheerful.” In other words, AI is making the internet fake-happy.

The research team tried four different approaches to AI detection before settling on tools from Pangram Labs after it delivered the most consistent results. (Though the team found it performed well on its tests, it is worth noting that all artificial intelligence detection tools are imperfect.) To compile a representative sample of websites, it tapped the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, which collects snapshots of webpages. In addition to quantifying how many sites created between 2022 and 2025 lean on AI-generated writing, the study also tested six different theories about the characteristics of slop.

ISTANBUL: A student aged about 13 opened fire at random in a Turkish school Wednesday (Apr 15) killing four people and wounding 20, just one day after a shooter wounded 16 people and then killed himself in another school, officials said.

Kahramanmaras province governor Mukerrem Unluer said a teacher and three students were killed in the latest attack. The attacker was also dead.

“A student came to school with guns that we believe belonged to his father in his backpack. He entered two classrooms and opened fire randomly, causing injuries and deaths,” Unluer told reporters.

Four of the wounded were in serious condition and undergoing surgery, he said.

The attacker, an eighth-grade student, was the son of a former police officer, Unluer said, adding that the suspect was carrying five guns and seven magazines.

“We suspect he may have taken his father’s weapons,” the governor said.

Bread has long been a dietary cornerstone, sustaining societies for generations. It is deeply woven into everyday life. But with obesity rates continuing to climb, researchers are beginning to question whether this reliance on staple carbohydrates still makes sense in modern diets.

Obesity increases the risk of many lifestyle-related diseases, making prevention a major public health priority. Traditionally, research has focused on high fat consumption as the main driver of weight gain. This is why many animal studies rely on high fat diets.

However, carbohydrates such as bread, rice, and noodles are consumed daily around the world, yet their role in obesity and metabolism has not been explored as thoroughly. While many people believe that “bread makes you gain weight” or that “carbohydrates should be limited,” it has been unclear whether the issue lies in the foods themselves or in how people choose and consume them.

Scientists have reported a major experimental advance in understanding how some of the rarest elements in the universe are formed. These unusual atoms, known as p-nuclei, are proton-rich isotopes heavier than iron that have long puzzled researchers.

The new study, led by Artemis Tsantiri, who conducted the work as a graduate student at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) and is now a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Regina in Canada, achieved a milestone. For the first time, researchers directly measured how arsenic-73 captures a proton to form selenium-74 using a rare isotope beam. This result places new limits on how the lightest p-nucleus is created and destroyed in space.

The findings were published in Physical Review Letters (“Constraining the Synthesis of the Lightest Nucleus 74Se”) and involved more than 45 scientists from 20 institutions across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
