MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces may use chemical weapons to create a “scorched earth” in territories of the Donetsk People’s Republic that have not yet been liberated by Russia, specifically in the Slavyansk and Kramatorsk areas, Alexander Voloshin, a Russian senator representing the DPR, told TASS.

Earlier, Russian Permanent Representative to the OPCW Vladimir Tarabrin stated that Kiev’s violations of its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention are systematic in nature. He also emphasized that Western countries are participating in and coordinating the use of chemical weapons against Russian citizens.

“The situation around Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, which are getting closer and closer to being liberated by our armed forces, is particularly alarming. It seems that the Ukrainian command, following a Nazi playbook, is preparing to leave a trail of destruction in the Donbass with no regard for the consequences or human lives. The consequences of such a catastrophe will affect the entire region, not to mention Ukraine itself,” the senator noted, commenting on the Ukrainian military’s use of chemical weapons in the region.

Voloshin added that using toxic substances during hostilities violates international obligations and is a crime that primarily threatens civilians. In this regard, the senator stressed that the international community must make every effort to prevent a tragedy.

NATO has been forced to rapidly scramble more fighter jets again following a huge overnight Russian drone attack on Ukraine, sparking more fears a possible World War 3 could break out. Vladimir Putin’s forces has began launching relentless attacks on Ukraine over recent days as he ramps up his war. Residential uildings have been reduced to rubble, with several people killed. Russia launched more attacks on Ukraine overnight, which saw NATO scramble fighter jets again. The Romanain Ministry of Defence (MoD) said its radar surveillance system “detected an air target evolving in Ukrainian airspace”, about 20km north of Periprava, near the border with Romania. Two F-18 aircraft of the Spanish Air and Space Forces were subsequently scambled.

The Romanian MoD said: “On the night of October 9 to 10, the radar surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defense detected an air target evolving in Ukrainian airspace, about 20 km north of Periprava, near the border with Romania. Two F-18 aircraft of the Spanish Air and Space Forces, in the Reinforced Air Police combat service, took off from the 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base. The National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations about the establishment of measures to alert the population in the north of Tulcea County, and at 00:17 a RO-Alert message was sent. The air alert ceased at 00.40.”

However, the Romanian MoD said a “new air target evolving in Ukrainian airspace, in the area of Chilia, about 15km east of Valcove”, was identified. It added: At 02.18, a new RO-Alert message was sent to the population in the north of Tulcea County. The air alert ceased at 03.13. No penetrations into the national airspace were detected.”

It came after it emerged that people were possibly trapped under rubble, with five killed and 10 injured, due to a Russian airstrike in Zaporizhzhia. Acting Governor Mykhailo Semikin wrote in a post on Telegram: The death toll from this morning’s Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia has risen to five. Among them are two children.

“Ten more people were injured. Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the sites of the strikes. People may still be trapped under the rubble. Our deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who died.”

I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter. Additionally, based on the condition of their Diesel Refineries, Russia will then deliver, within a short period of time, 3,000,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel.

Between our TOTAL CONTROL of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST! Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority. This is a very big and important announcement. Additionally, it must be understood, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon!

300,000 tons of diesel fuel sounds like a lot, but diesel is a liquid that is measured in gallons, and when broken down into gallons, the truth about Trump’s deal is revealed.

NATO issued chilling warning as Russia ‘trying to boil Europe like a frog’ | World | News– www.express.co.uk

Russia is trying to “boil Europe as a frog”, as Moscow is accused of turning up the heat with attacks edging ever closer to NATO territory. Estonia’s foreign minister, Margus Tsahkna, believes European allies cannot just “ignore them” but instead must start ramping up the pressure on Russia. Speaking on Sky News this morning, the Estonian politician claimed the European countries on Putin’s doorstep are “immune” and more equipped for Russian attacks. Poland and Lithuania are in the midst of developing procedures, logistics, and infrastructure including putting together escape routes through the Suwałki Gap.

The strategic corridor is around 40 miles wide at its narrowest point and is NATO’s only land connection between the Baltic states and the rest of the alliance.

Tsahkna said he is “much more concerned about Western democracies”. Tsahkna claimed the Kremlin is “already attacking Europe” and European countries as well as the Baltic states are seeing “more and more attacks” which are intended to test and divide NATO’s unity.

He warned: “We cannot just ignore them and say this is just an incident or hybrid attack. These are the attacks that are not reaching Article 5 level, but we need to attribute these actions publicly to Russia because our people should know Russia is acting very aggressively already.

“They are turning on the heat, trying to boil Europe as a frog over the years. And then testing and dividing our unity.”

Ukraine grapples with a shortage of troops at the front after over 4 years of war– abcnews.com

KYIV, Ukraine — Ukraine’s advances in drone technology and tactics have captured the world’s attention. Despite those innovations, one problem has plagued the country since the start of Russia’s invasion: a shortage of combat-ready troops.

Ukraine always has been outmanned by Russia, but as the war drags through its fifth year, the need for personnel is increasingly acute, commanders and analysts say, with some units at only half strength. There just aren’t enough forces to fully exploit the battlefield advantages resulting from the drone innovations.

“Based on the equipment and the number of people we have today, we barely have enough to hold the sector we currently have,” said a deputy commander of the Da Vinci Wolves battalion in eastern Ukraine’s Pokrovsk area, a focus of Russia’s offensive.

“To move forward would inevitably mean greater losses,” said the deputy commander, who insisted on identifying himself only as “Afer” because of military rules.

Long-standing mobilization problems, including draft dodging and desertion, make it harder for Ukraine to build its reserves, according to military experts, resulting in only incremental changes along the 1,250-kilometer (775-mile) front line.

Ukraine needs to be able to commit forces quickly without taking them from elsewhere on the front. Otherwise, commanders have fewer options to turn a temporary advantage into a sustained operation, said Nick Reynolds of the U.K.-based Royal United Services Institute, a defense and security think tank.

The shortage means that units can’t be rotated often enough, he said, “leading to exhaustion and, in turn, exacerbating casualties.”

The Defense Ministry, which in July underwent a shake-up by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is trying to tackle the problem with reforms to mobilization, training and the way the army is organized.

Top Russian and U.S. officials, including U.S. Special Envoy Jared Kushner, have held talks about bringing a U.S. investor into the Nord Stream pipelines that delivered gas to Germany before Russia invaded Ukraine, five people with knowledge of the situation said.

The discussions included Kirill Dmitriev, a close adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, the people said.

Kushner, who has been trying to broker a truce between Russia and Ukraine, views doing business as central to restoring peace. Such a deal would enable U.S. investors to profit from energy flows to Europe once the war ends.

Dmitriev and Kushner have met in Moscow and New York in recent weeks. While it was unclear to what degree they discussed Nord Stream on those occasions, the topic remains on the agenda, two of the people told Reuters.

“Any deals will have to be negotiated by Russia with DFC (U.S. International Development Finance Corporation) and Treasury and must benefit United States taxpayers and companies,” a White House official said when asked about the pipeline discussions.

There had been “no Nord Stream discussions recently,” the official told Reuters.

Zelensky renewed a call for allies to provide air defence support packages to Ukraine, saying its military only managed to shoot down “some” of the missiles launched by Russia overnight.

According to Zelensky, one of the “key targets” of the attack was the country’s energy infrastructure, which Moscow earlier said it would intensify strikes on following Ukraine’s strikes on Moscow’s energy facilities.

In a separate post on Wednesday, Zelensky said Ukraine had struck four targets in retaliatory attacks in the past 24 hours, including two oil facilities and a training ground in the Perm, Samara and Astrakhan regions.

“There is also a response in the Black Sea,” the Ukrainian president wrote.

On Tuesday evening, footage emerged showing a huge plume of smoke engulfing an oil tanker off the coast of Sochi, along the Black Sea in southern Russia.

The Russian transport ministry later said unmanned boats had attacked the Liberian-flagged Aframax Rio oil tanker. Authorities claim the crew was rescued.

Separately, Bulgaria has halted a search for the missing crew of a ship that sank after being hit by a drone on Tuesday, Vice-Admiral Rumen Nikolov from the Maritime Administration Executive Agency said, as reported by Bulgarian television network Nora TV.

Russia has taken a major step toward regulating “killer robots,” after the Kremlin alongside the US pushed to strip ethical and human-oversight safeguards from a U.N. treaty. The draft agremement on autonomous weapons took place during closed door talks in Geneva earlier this month.

US and Russian negotiators pushed through the changes during a closed-door session after three years of talks under the U.N. Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW). This marks the furthest progress yet toward establishing international rules for autonomous weapons, according to HRW. The rights group said the revised draft also removed language on predictability, reliability and design standards and narrowed the treaty’s scope from all international law to international humanitarian law.

Cameras were turned off and observers were excluded during the agreement, according to people familiar with the talks cited by The Washington Post.

Russian and US delegations also deployed legal teams nearly twice the size of those from other countries during about 15 hours of last-minute negotiations.

Nicole van Rooijen, executive director of the advocacy coalition Stop Killer Robots, accused Washington and Moscow of seeking to weaken the draft, while human rights groups warned that the changes could reduce accountability for civilian casualties caused by autonomous weapons.

The Washington Post also reported that the US and Russia removed a provision that would have required humans to review AI-generated targets before a weapon carried out a strike.

Speaking to reporters this morning Trump told Fox News: “You know what I want him to do? Make a deal. I want him to settle with Putin and I want Putin to settle with him.”

According to the statement, Ukraine later disclosed the transfer in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to the United Nations General Assembly without sufficient prior consultation and subsequently denied the existence of any confidentiality agreement.

Seong said the denial had seriously damaged trust between the two governments and could harm bilateral relations.

Ukraine’s embassy in Seoul did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Zelenskyy told the UN General Assembly last week that Ukraine had transferred two captured North Korean soldiers to South Korea. He said the men had recently been sent there after being captured while fighting for Russia in the war against Ukraine.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung days earlier said Ukraine had disclosed the transfer in breach of a non-disclosure agreement.

In a post on X, Lee said “it was appropriate in every aspect not to disclose” the transfer, given the potential consequences, and that the two sides had agreed to keep it confidential.

“I do not know what circumstances led the Ukrainian side to disclose the matter despite the confidentiality agreement, but it is deeply regrettable,” he wrote.

Ukraine captured the two North Koreans in Russia’s Kursk region in January 2025. They were the first North Korean soldiers to be captured alive since Pyongyang entered the war in 2024, assisting Russia.

DOROHUSK, Poland — Three times in one day, phones lit up across this Polish border community with a warning: A drone or a missile could cross from Ukraine, and residents should stay vigilant in case they might need to take cover.

Above the village of Dorohusk in eastern Poland, vapor trails cut across the pale blue sky and military helicopters rumbled overhead. Just 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) away, traffic at the border crossing into Ukraine was suspended three times, and staff were even evacuated once.

The alerts and disruptions on Thursday came as The Associated Press was visiting the village. They reflected a new reality along Poland’s eastern frontier, where the war in Ukraine — now 4 1/2 years old — has felt increasingly close.

Russia isn’t at war with Poland, but over the past few years European leaders say it’s mounted a series of so-called hybrid attacks to pressure to pressure adversaries in the West and NATO that include sabotage, disinformation and cyberattacks. Poland is worried that the drones or missiles strikes could spill over from Ukraine, whether by accident or as part of a Russian strategy of ambiguous attacks.

The anxiety intensified after two Russian drones exploded on the Ukrainian side of the Dorohusk-Yahodyn crossing in the early hours of Sept. 13. The explosions could clearly be heard in Dorohusk.

“There is new restlessness and fear because you could hear those explosions very well on that night in our village,” said Wojciech Sawa, the Dorohusk mayor. “We had never had something like that before. This was the first time the sirens wailed.”

Vladimir Putin is on course for his worst monthly losses of the war this year in Ukraine. By Sunday, he suffered a staggering 41,420 killed and wounded in September, according to Kyiv’s General Staff.

At this rate, the month’s total will be around 46,000, with statistics indicating losses of 1,534 per day. It would make it one of the three bloodiest months of the war for Putin, who refuses to halt his conflict despite the horrific toll suffered by Russians.

Despite making little headway on the frontline and losing territory in the Donetsk region, Putin pummelled Ukrainian civilians overnight.

Kyiv suffered a hellish 24 hours of near constant Russian attacks, with petrol stations, mobile service operators and logistics hubs being targeted. It was the seventh consecutive day of intense strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

Russia claimed to have hit Ukrtelcom, a fixed-line telephone and broadband internet operator, and the DreamLine data centre in Kyiv, as well as fuel infrastructure facilities. There are also fears that Putin aims to cut internet access for Ukrainians.

Moscow claimed overnight to have targeted Vasylkov military airfield, near Kyiv, home of Ukraine’s Air Force’s 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade. Early today, Putin’s jet-powered Geran drones exploded at least two filling stations in the city.

More than 20 people, including eight children, were injured during a Russian attack on civilians in Kharkiv. More were injured in a strike on Izium, Kharkiv region.

Russia’s foreign minister used his address at the United Nations General Assembly to accuse Europe of blocking efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

Both Moscow and Kyiv have stepped up attacks after the deadliest summer since 2022 — the year Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. On Saturday, Russian attacks killed four people across Ukraine, officials said, while Kyiv continued to target Russian oil refineries and industrial sites with long-range drones.

Efforts led by the U.S. have failed to produce a permanent ceasefire and peace deal, with President Trump saying on Saturday that he hoped Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would “settle” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Europe of actively trying to block talks supported by the U.S. government.

Russia is warning Ukrainians it plans on escalating its assault on civilians. President Putin threatened Ukrainians, declaring he will bring them “to their knees.” The rhetoric follows concerns Russia might be preparing to launch sea drone attacks on NATO members.

Will the Russia-Ukraine War End Soon? Trump Meets Again With Zelensky.– townhall.com

EXCERPT:

President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a bilateral meeting at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday afternoon as the president would like to see an end to the war in Eastern Europe.

“I think they’re gonna make a deal, and I don’t want to say what the deal is, and we talk about it a lot, including with President Putin,” he said when asked by a reporter if he still believes Ukraine can keep all of its original territory. The leaders spoke with reporters prior to the meeting, so it’s unknown what exactly will be the outcomes as of now.

“And I think something’s gonna happen, certainly they are good fighters,” he continued.

Zelensky and Trump last met at the White House on July 28, as the Ukrainian leader was in Washington for the funeral of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). The president recently signed a Russian sanctions bill in honor of the late senator, which Zelensky thanked him for. The meeting comes as leaders in Poland are concerned about strikes from Russia as well.

“I hope we will end this war, and President Trump will help us end this war,” Zelensky said, wanting a solution “before winter.” Recent prior conversations with Zelenskyy have centered around providing Patriot air defense systems to the country.

The president was also asked about whether he would invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit in Miami later this year.

“I know that he will meet, and we’ve had a meeting already in Alaska. I don’t know about Miami […] he would like to see the war end,” Trump said, as he sent special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to meet with Zelensky and Putin earlier this month in different conversations.
