President Donald Trump’s administration has revoked around 80,000 non-immigrant visas since its inauguration on January 20 for offenses ranging from driving under the influence to assault and theft, a senior State Department official said on Wednesday.
The extent of the revocations, first reported by Washington Examiner, reflects a broad immigration crackdown initiated when Trump came into office, deporting an unprecedented number of migrants including some who held valid visas.
The administration has also adopted a stricter policy on granting visas, with tightened social media vetting and expanded screening.
Around 16,000 of the visa revocations were tied to cases of driving under the influence, while about 12,000 were for assault and another 8,000 for theft.
Federal officials are charging more than a dozen law enforcement officers from Mississippi and Tennessee with accepting bribes from FBI agents disguised as cartel members. One of the worst offenders and best examples of the crimes being charged is Washington County Sheriff Milton Gaston. According to the indictment, he received “multiple monetary payments for his blessing for the cartel to operate in his county and use his deputies to protect the cartel’s illegal drug trafficking.”
All of the defendants agreed to “escort runs,” which the indictment claimed “ they were protecting the transportation of 25 kilos of cocaine, sometimes referred to as ‘birds,’ or, on October 5, 2023, the transportation of illegal narcotics proceeds, during the course of the investigation to build trust with the corrupt law enforcement officers, to lay the groundwork for future runs, and to take other action to further the drug trafficking conspiracy.”
In what officials called “a monumental betrayal of public trust,” more than a dozen law enforcement officers are among 20 defendants charged in Mississippi and Tennessee for an alleged drug trafficking bribery scheme.
The federal indictment alleges the defendants, which includes two sheriffs, of accepting bribes from FBI agents posing as drug cartel members to facilitate the passage of illicit drugs through the Mississippi Delta region.
Federal officials initiated a years-long investigation after hearing complaints from real drug traffickers about having to pay bribes to law enforcement officers.

A Mexican mayor known for his outspoken stance against drug cartels and his push for tougher anti-trafficking laws was shot and killed during a Day of the Dead celebration over the weekend.
Carlos Manzo, the mayor of Uruapan in Michoacán State, was gunned down Saturday night during a public vigil, according to state officials.
Authorities said Manzo was struck seven times.
He later died from his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Before his death, Manzo had repeatedly warned that local officials were being targeted by cartels.
He had criticized Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for failing to take stronger action against organized crime.
This comes as the city of Portland and the state of Oregon recommit to their status as sanctuaries for illegal immigrants in the face of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal migration.
Several illegal aliens involved with the Tren de Aragua terror group were apprehended in Portland, Oregon, during a high-risk operation involving the illicit sales of drugs, firearms, and ammunition. The suspects, who were originally residing in Chicago, are believed to have moved to Portland just over a month ago in response to immigration enforcement operations increasing in the Windy City, federal investigators say.
US Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) breached a Portland apartment unit the group was suspected of using as a “stash house” on October 24, taking the ringleader into custody, along with seven other accomplices, all of whom are illegally present in the United States and have suspected ties to Tren de Aragua, according to authorities.

Five states and Washington, D.C., funneled more than $1.35 billion in federal taxpayer Medicaid funding to illegals, according to a preliminary audit of the program completed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
CMS Administrator Dr. Mehemet Oz posted the results of the preliminary audit on social media showing California, D.C., Illinois, Washington, Colorado, and Oregon spent millions each on illegals, with California spending the bulk, topping over $1.3 billion alone.
That money, according to Oz, was spent “just in the last few months.”
Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard noted during a Saturday morning Fox News interview that the recent capture of a notorious Mexican drug cartel boss by President Donald Trump’s administration shows Trump’s “seriousness” and that he is “not messing around” on the issue.
Gabbard’s office announced Tuesday the Oct. 15 arrest of Sinaloa Cartel Plaza Boss Leonardo Daniel “El Pato” Martinez Vera, who allegedly led an operation which took part in a range of crimes including kidnapping and murder.
“Fox & Friends Weekend” co-host Griff Jenkins asked Gabbard if El Pato’s arrest — made possible due to intelligence collected by the ODNI’s National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) — sends a message to “the plaza bosses who have run our southern border under the Biden administration.”

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has adopted new rules to ban illegal alien students from receiving in-state tuition rates.
The move was taken to comply with a court ruling compelling the board to do so.
The Trump administration sued Texas to get the change, saying that parts of its education law conflicted with federal law pertaining to illegal immigrants.
“In direct and express conflict with federal law, Texas education law specifically allows an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States to qualify for in-state tuition based on residence within the state, while explicitly denying resident-based tuition rates to U.S. citizens that do not qualify as Texas residents,” the administration argued.
According to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, U.S. military assets carried out three strikes on four vessels in the Pacific Ocean Monday, marking at least 13 strikes on 14 vessels since early September.
At least one person survived the latest attacks, he said.

President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is using several tools to pressure illegal aliens to self-deport from the United States, including via their pocketbooks.
