GOP responds to Charlie Kirk’s death with anything but gun control– www.dailykos.com

Conservatives have come up with a host of measures they want taken to avenge right-wing activist Charlie Kirk’s murder—none of which include gun reforms.

Most of the proposals are retributive, with Republicans blaming the nebulous “left” for Kirk’s death and demanding that the “left” face punishment for it.

President Donald Trump—who was so distraught by Kirk’s death that he was seen happily dancing the next day at a Yankees game—said he wants to target progressive groups, claiming without evidence that they “contributed to this atrocity.”

Congressional Republicans seemed happy to help Trump in that endeavor, with Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas and nearly two dozen other House Republicans demanding that GOP Speaker Mike Johnson create a new committee to investigate progressive groups that they baselessly accused of being responsible for Kirk’s death.

“In the wake of numerous attacks on our way of life, the destruction of the rule of law, and the murder of innocent Americans, prominent and unknown alike, we must take every step to follow the money and uncover the force behind the NGOs, donors, media, public officials, and all entities driving this coordinated attack,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter to Johnson, specifically referencing right-wing boogeyman George Soros and the Southern Poverty Law Center as groups they want to see investigated.

WaPo Columnist Says She Was Fired After Sharing Fake Quote From Charlie Kirk– dailycaller.com

Columnist Karen Attiah complained on Monday that The Washington Post fired her for falsely quoting Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk following his assassination.

The Post fired Attiah for falsely quoting Kirk stating that “black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously” on BlueSky, a left-wing social media website. In a Substack post, Attiah accused the Post of engaging in “hasty overreach” over their swift firing of her and instantly made her termination about race.

“And yet, the Post accused my measured Bluesky posts of being ‘unacceptable’, ‘gross misconduct’ and of endangering the physical safety of colleagues — charges without evidence, which I reject completely as false. They rushed to fire me without even a conversation. This was not only a hasty overreach, but a violation of the very standards of journalistic fairness and rigor the Post claims to uphold,” Attiah wrote. “Since then, my words on absolution for white male violence have proven prescient. The suspect in Kirk’s killing is indeed a young white man, and already, lawmakers are urging us to pray for him. The media is painting the 22 year-old as a good, all-American suburban kid. The cycle I mentioned has once again come to pass.”

The fired columnist falsely accused Kirk of having “attacked Black women” and of saying that black people were better off living under Jim Crow. Kirk never made any of these claims.

After a white conservative was shot, many of the prominent white people in politics and media rushed to blame a variety of excuses when they found out that the shooter was a white young man from a Republican family.

Republican Gov. Spencer Cox of Utah, where Kirk was killed, thinks that the problem is social media.

Cox has become a media darling by criticizing the platform that made traditional media increasingly irrelevant.

Gov. Cox said on Sunday:

I believe that social media has played a direct role in every single assassination and assassination attempt that we have seen over the last five, six years. There is no question in my mind — ‘cancer’ probably isn’t a strong enough word. What we have done, especially to our kids, it took us decades to realize how evil these algorithms are.

Cox isn’t totally wrong. Studies have shown that social media is bad for mental health and that the mental health of individuals improves when they stop consuming social media.

After President Donald Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem complained on X that several minutes of her Aug. 31 “Face the Nation” interview had been “shamefully edited … to whitewash the truth,” CBS News announced that its flagship Sunday morning program will no longer edit its interviews, except for “legal or national security” reasons.

According to the Associated Press, CBS said it had edited the interview, which ran 16 minutes and 40 seconds in its original form, for length, and posted the full interview on its website and YouTube. As the AP correctly noted, Noem “made a series of unproven accusations about Ábrego García” in the portion of the interview that was cut. This is a pattern of behavior by the administration with respect to Kilmar Ábrego García, a Salvadoran refugee who had been illegally deported to the CECOT concentration camp in his country of origin.

In the context of the recent capitulations by CBS News and its parent company Paramount in the face of Trump administration demands, the announcement is noteworthy — and dangerous.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Multiple Republican lawmakers dressed Kennedy down on Thursday during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, expressing concerns with his anti-vaccine policies and his personnel decisions.

Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming, an orthopedic surgeon by trade who cast the deciding vote to confirm Kennedy, took a page out of the playbook of Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, saying that he was “concerned” about Kennedy’s stance on vaccines.

“Secretary Kennedy, in your confirmation hearings, you promised to uphold the highest standards for vaccines,” Barrasso said. “Since then, I’ve grown deeply concerned. The public has seen measles outbreaks, leadership in the National Institutes of Health questioning the use of mRNA vaccines, the recently confirmed director of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fired. Americans don’t know who to rely on.”

Her life was cut short by Decarlos Brown Jr., who has been in and out of prison for the last 15 years. Released again and again by Democrats.

Democrat leadership in Charlotte reportedly took deliberate steps to delay or completely block the release of the light rail stabbing footage of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska by Decarlos Brown Jr.

A raging leftist was arrested Saturday in Washington, D.C. and charged with making a series of social media posts threatening to kill President Donald Trump, but the propaganda press has decided to downplay or ignore the threat.

Nathalie “Nath” Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, threatened to kill, kidnap, or injure Trump in her posts, according to a statement from the Secret Service.

By Tuesday, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, and The New York Times had either not reported the arrest, or hid it on their websites so well that a deep web search came up with nothing.

“I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present,” Jones wrote in an August 6 Facebook post directed to the FBI.

  • None of the articles analyzed by The College Fix were explicitly supportive of Trump, and the language used in many instances was deemed emotionally charged and biased, raising concerns about the publication’s claim of neutrality.
  • Public universities, including Michigan State and West Virginia University, financially support The Conversation, but inquiries to these institutions about their contributions and the political alignment of the outlet went unanswered.

President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he would work to “get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS.” Democrats and their media allies reflexively attacked the president, insisting that mail-in voting is secure — as if repeating it often enough makes it true.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said on CNN that “Mail ballots are secure.” ABC News’ Hannah Demissie dismissed Trump’s claims as “without … evidence” before later conceding fraud does occur, but that it’s “rare” (as if any amount of voter fraud should be tolerated). ABC7 Eyewitness News said Trump “falsely” claimed mail-in ballots “lead to voter fraud.”

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace said Trump’s comments are “completely false” and claimed there is “zero evidence” to support his voter fraud claims in U.S. elections.

MSNBC will lose the peacock logo and be rebranded as “MS NOW” ahead of its spinoff from Comcast’s NBCUniversal, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

The details were shared with staff members by Mark Lazarus, who will run NBCUniversal’s new public company, Versant, as CEO. Lazarus addressed the rebrand as well as the logo change.

“As we all know, the peacock is synonymous with NBCUniversal, and it is a symbol they have decided to keep within the NBCU family,” he said. “This gives us the opportunity to chart our own path forward, create distinct brand identities, and establish an independent news organization following the spin.”

President Trump directed the Defense Department on Monday to take a larger role in domestic law enforcement, including by “quelling civil disturbances,” as he threatens to broaden deployments of the National Guard in cities run by his political enemies.

The executive order, released by the White House on Monday morning, also formalizes the creation of specially trained National Guard units in the District of Columbia and all 50 states that can be mobilized quickly for “ensuring the public safety and order.”

Most rational human beings who know anything about American history believe that the practice of slavery was one of the United States’ original sins, and that it was allowed for too long. Untold millions suffered due to the enslavement of human beings across generations in a way that still has very real lingering effects.

Which makes slavery the most bewildering topic for Republicans to want to explore the upside of.

President Donald Trump made clear on Tuesday that he doesn’t like all this negative talk about slavery, and complained that the Smithsonian museums are too “woke.”

“The Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was, and how unaccomplished the downtrodden have been — Nothing about Success, nothing about Brightness, nothing about the Future,” Trump bleated on Truth Social.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore came out swinging over the weekend, rejecting a plot by President Donald Trump to deploy federal troops to Baltimore, the largest city in Moore’s home state.

Trump has deployed federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Washington, despite a recent drop in crime. He has also threatened to repeat the process with other major cities with large Black populations. In response, Moore sent a letter to Trump on Thursday, inviting him to go on a safety walk in Baltimore to see how crime-prevention efforts have improved the situation there.

As part of our broad approach to public safety, I regularly join community advocates and elected officials to walk through the neighborhoods most affected by violent crime,” Moore wrote. “I would like to formally invite you to attend our next public safety walk in September, at a date of your choosing.”

Scott MacFarlane of CBS News admitted some locals supported the “extra law enforcement,” but quickly pivoted to worries Trump’s federalization would last forever and went on to suggest documented suspicions of the crime figures being cooked were conspiratorial.

Amid starvation imposed by Israel on Gaza and deadly bombings in Ukraine, President Donald Trump’s narcissism is reaching new heights.

“I’ve done six wars, I’ve ended six wars,” he claimed on Monday in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders, taking credit for settling conflicts that the US began or saw little to no American involvement in their resolutions. Elsewhere in the Oval Office meeting, Trump forced guests to a viewing of hats emblazoned with “4 more years.”

Such stunning self-regard was once again on display Tuesday as Trump praised accused war criminal, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as a “war hero” over his approval of Israel’s June airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, and then gave some love to himself. “I guess I am, too,” Trump told the conservative radio host Mark Levin despite having never fought in combat. “Nobody cares. But I am [a war hero] too. I mean, I sent those planes.” Similar omissions abounded throughout the conversation, with no mention of bone spurs or Trump’s public denigration of the late Sen. John McCain and Gold Star families.

President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday in Alaska in a historic attempt to end the more than two-year war between Ukraine and Russia. Since Russia’s 2022 invasion, tens of thousands have died, while millions have been displaced. The Alaska summit marked the first serious step toward direct negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.

But for ABC News’ Martha Raddatz and the rest of the propaganda press, a Trump-negotiated peace itself was a problem. Instead of acknowledging the significance of Trump’s diplomacy, Raddatz spent her Sunday segment disparaging the president for daring to treat Putin like a foreign leader who can choose to keep the war going rather than a pariah.

Former NBC/MSNBC political director Chuck Todd sounded a lot like CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday’s edition of The Arena on CNN. In a poor attempt to deflect attention away from Democratic Party gerrymandering in states like California and Illinois, by falsely suggesting that Republican-controlled Florida was the “worst” state when it came to redistricting practices. He also argued that the way to solve a lot of those issues was to actively gerrymander.

What caused Todd to snap at his home state of Florida was CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings calling out far-left states like California and Illinois for their wildly gerrymandered districts. “I mean, when I look at the states like Illinois and New York and even California with the supposed independent commission where Republicans get 40 percent of the vote and only have 17 percent of the seats,” he proclaimed.

CNN Would Rather Talk About Slavery… and a Lefty MAGA Supporter Exposed Why That’s the Case– townhall.com

President Trump said something about the Smithsonian and being too focused on slavery, which you know would trigger a meltdown among those in the liberal media. The legacy press can now whine about his posts and ignore the ongoing peace talks to end the war in Ukraine—a story that likely drove up the blood pressures in newsrooms since everyone knows Trump is a lock for the Nobel Peace Prize if he pulls this off. Meanwhile, Trump continues to gash the media for being biased and unhinged. He’s also trying to reset the academic direction regarding this nation’s history, which is too focused on highlighting the sins of the past to handcuff progress. Liberals would rather trap us perpetually in 1877 to feed their victimhood fetish and their obsession with trashing America.

CNN did just that last night, having a lengthy segment on slavery, Trump’s remarks, and other silliness. We don’t need to do this: Slavery was our original sin, our republic collapsed because of it, we fought a civil war, and it’s gone. That’s the point. It’s no longer allowed, prohibited forever by the 13th Amendment. It remains our bloodiest war, but also our most moral. And we became a better country for it in the long run, obviously. But the Left would rather obsess about race and white supremacy, which isn’t an accident.

Lefty MAGA supporter Batya Ugar-Sargon ripped the guts out of the segment, noting that in 2012, white progressives became addicted to anything relating to race, slavery, and white supremacy, which was magnified by the liberal media. It was a surreal moment:

Meanwhile, Scott Jennings offered a take that not even liberals on the panel could reject. And no, Trump is not saying slavery wasn’t bad or never happened. It’s the ‘Great Awokening’ that he’s combating, but the Left is too stupid to realize that.
