Conservative and pro-life groups are again asking the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate five aborted babies found near a Washington, D.C. clinic in 2022 now that President Donald Trump is back in office.

Nine organizations sent a letter Tuesday to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro sounding the alarm about pro-life activists’ discovery of the bodies in containers from the Washington Surgi-Clinic. Some of the babies discovered were so large that they brought suspicion of illegal partial-birth or post-birth abortions, and the Biden administration only prosecuted those who protested at the clinic in 2020.

“In 2022, pro-life activists in Washington, D.C., discovered possible violations of the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act,” reads the letter from Advancing American Freedom, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Students for Life, Concerned Women for America, Family Research Council, Live Action, Human Coalition, Catholic Vote and American Family Association.

The family, which includes Smith’s 7-year-old son, has embraced the chance to honor Adriana’s legacy through her unborn child, whom they see as a “second chance” for her life to continue. We want her life to continue through her children, Newkirk told reporters, emphasizing their desire to love and raise Chance, regardless of potential health challenges.

This admonition came to my mind this week as I was reminded of the devastation caused by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s decision to pull the plug on a decades-old program funding pregnancy care centers in the Keystone State.

Shapiro canceled the contract of Real Alternatives, an award-winning organization which admirably served pregnant women and their children throughout the Commonwealth.

For one pregnancy center that I am aware of, that meant a loss of $100,000.

Can you imagine how many women can be served with that amount of money? It is a significant loss, not only of treasure, but of service to the community.

An activist group out of Missouri is using the state’s recently passed unlimited abortion constitutional amendment to go after the last remaining safeguards for women, girls, and babies on the books, including a law mandating parental notification and consent for a minor seeking an abortion.

Right By You, an organization that prides itself on instructing underage girls in Missouri on how to get birth control and abortions, filed a lawsuit on April 30 alleging that laws requiring a minor to secure a parent’s permission, or endure a “potentially traumatic judicial bypass process,” to end a pregnancy “flagrantly violate” the new amendment to the state constitution.

“The laws bully pregnant young people without parental support into giving birth and threaten legal action against and undermine the core activities of Good Samaritans who seek to help young people effectuate their own decisions about their pregnancies with dignity,” the lawsuit claims.

Student’s victory leads to policy shift at South Carolina university

Winthrop University student Riley Dill successfully challenged the school administration and Council of Student Leaders for violating her free speech rights after they denied her application to start a Students for Life club.

Dill reached out to Students for Life of America for help, and the national pro-life group issued a demand letter to allow the student to start her club.

Within one week of receiving the letter, the public South Carolina university rescinded the decision and confirmed recognition of Winthrop Students for Life as a new student organization.

Law enforcement charged Brianna Rivers with second-degree assault, according to National Review. Antao engaged Rivers in conversation on April 3 in a man-on-the-street type interview. Antao’s husband was filming the conversations.

“Thank you detectives at the 28th precinct NYC!,” Antao, a journalist with Live Action, wrote on Instagram.

“You don’t understand the magnitude of having a child,” the abortion supporter told Craven Antao in video footage published by Live Action.

The Colorado state legislature is currently considering legislation that would require the state Medicaid program to cover elective abortions. This would make Colorado the 20th state whose Medicaid program covers elective abortion.

In other states, supporters of publicly funded abortions typically argue that it is a necessary step to ensure that low-income women have access to abortion. However, Colorado Democrats have trotted out a new, more perverse argument. They claim that publicly funded abortions would save state taxpayers money.

Indeed, last week Colorado’s Legislative Council Staff released a fiscal note analyzing SB 25-183, the bill requiring that Colorado’s Medicaid program and Child Health Plan Plus program to cover elective abortions. The analysis found that this would increase the number of taxpayer-funded abortions.

However, since the state Medicaid program would be paying for fewer births, there would be an overall cost savings. Democratic state legislators have eagerly cited this analysis.
