Nancy Pelosi | Biography, Book, Age, & Facts | Britannica

Blurb:

Two people are running to be Virginia Attorney General. One of them wished for his opponent to be murdered and for another opponents kids to be murdered in front of them so that would would help this candidate’s political agenda. The other candidate did none of those things. According to Nancy Pelosi, the person who wishes death on his opponents and their children is, on balance, the better candidate. That candidate is also the Democrat. Surprise!

To quote Jay Jones, the DEMOCRAT candidate for VA AG, about then Speaker of the House Todd Gilbert, Three people, two bullets… Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot…Gilbert gets two bullets to the head…Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time.”

He also said he hoped Gilbert’s kids would die in front of him, adding, “I mean do I think Todd and Jennifer are evil? And that they’re breeding little fascists? Yes.”

Apropos of nothing, and I say this out of love and respect for the game, shouts to the Republican who held on to these texts until the most politically opportune moment. A lesser official would have rushed right to X-Twitter to score a political point or two.

Nancy Pelosi thinks wishing for a bullet to be put in the head of your opponent and of your opponent’s children is a-ok, as long as the person who thinks so is a Democrat and will advance her podies radical agenda against Americans. She also tried to make it about her, wondering where the outrage is when she gets a threat.

Diane Goodstein; South Carolina judge's home destroyed by fire ...

Blurb:

On Saturday, a massive fire broke out at the Edisto Beach home of Diane Goodstein, a South Carolina Circuit Court judge who was born and raised in the Palmetto State.

Photos and videos from the scene show it being engulfed in flames and totally destroyed. Two family members and another person were in the home at the time of the blaze. They all escaped, thankfully, but sustained injuries:

Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein was walking her dogs on the beach in Edisto Island, S.C., about an hour south of Charleston, when the fire began, according to officials. Her husband, former state Sen. Arnold Goodstein, their son, Arnold Goodstein III, and one other occupant were forced to jump from the burning building from an elevated first floor to escape the blaze, officials said.

The three occupants were rescued by kayak from the home’s backyard due to the area’s marshy terrain, Colleton County Fire-Rescue told ABC News. One occupant was airlifted to Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston and the other two were taken there via ground transportation, according to Colleton County Fire-Rescue.

Almost immediately, the Usual Suspects sprang into action, blaming the Trump administration for criticizing Goldstein over a TRO she issued in early September that barred the state’s election commission from handing over its voter registration info to the DOJ:

Circuit Court judge Diane Goodstein issued a temporary restraining order to halt the process on Sept. 2, saying that “there is a likelihood that immediate and irreparable damage will result to Plaintiff if her personal information data is released in violation of her right to privacy.”

Harmeet Dhillon, DOJ Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, pushed back on the ruling at the time, vowing to press on:

Between that, unconfirmed reports of Goodstein allegedly receiving threats after the ruling, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller harshly criticizing the judge in the Oregon National Guard case on the same day Goodstein’s house went up in flames, it was enough for the liberal outrage machine to do its thing:

This is Newsom’s comms director:

After the tweets from Newsom’s office in particular, however, Dhillon was alerted to alleged threats that DOJ staffers said they saw in the comments:

According to a screenshot, one ominous-sounding post from an X account that no longer exists declared, “I’m just saying Harmeet Dhillon’s address can’t be hard to find.” The screenshot also showed that after the person was asked what they were saying, they replied, “I’ll let you know in two weeks.”

Those posts appear to have been made in reply to a post from Izzy Gardon, Newsom’s communications director.

In response, Dhillon indicated she’d made some referrals to the U.S. Marshals office:

On Monday, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced that so far, they’d found no evidence that the fire was intentionally set, a message that SC Gov. Henry McMaster shared on X:

SLED Chief Mark Keel has announced that at this point in the investigation there is no evidence the horrific fire at Judge Goodstein’s Edisto home was intentionally set. I echo Chief Keel’s call for everyone to exercise good judgment and avoid sharing unverified information while the investigation continues.

The news had Dhillon once again implicating Newsom’s comms guy in the alleged threats against her:

As a side note, most of the “reporting” and hyperventilating from the media and the left on this story leave out the very inconvenient fact that subsequent rulings in the case in the weeks that followed were against the plaintiff who had originally sued to stop the release of the information:

Sept. 11: SC Supreme Court lifts block on state from sharing voter data with DOJ

Oct. 1: Circuit Court judge sides with SC in case over voter data release to DOJ

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. We’ll keep you posted on developments.

Support for Hamas Terror at Anti-Israel Rallies Across the U.S

Blurb:

Pro-Hamas protesters commemorated the anniversary of the October 7 attacks on Israel by doing what they do best: Getting arrested for behaving like petulant thugs in Boston, Massachusetts.

The fracas began around 6:46 p.m. when police responded to an “unrelated emergency three blocks away” from where the protest was happening, according to a Boston Police Department (BPD) press release.

The horde of protesters involved about 200 to 300 people. They blocked the street, preventing law enforcement vehicles from passing through. “Many protesters, wearing facial coverings and gloves, interlocked arms, chanted over amplified bullhorns, and refused to clear the roadway,” the press release said.

Vascular surgeon Dr. Matthew Spreadbury picked up my call as he was finishing a full day of surgery alongside local Tigrayan doctors Dr. Aregawi and Dr. Haymnot. The three gave a sobering rundown of their situation: “There are 3,000 orthopedic patients waiting, 1,000 plastic surgery patients waiting, and 300 neurosurgery cases.”

The war that erupted in November 2020 between Ethiopia’s federal forces, supported by Eritrea, and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) killed hundreds of thousands and devastated Tigray’s health system. Field assessments found that of 106 medical facilities surveyed, nearly 70 percent were looted, more than 30 percent damaged, and only 13 percent remained functional. These conditions left patients without access to surgery, antibiotics, or obstetric care, leading to countless preventable deaths.

Medical groups have documented widespread sexual violence amounting to crimes against humanity, leaving deep trauma and long-term medical needs across Tigray. Hunger persisted even after the ceasefire, with local researchers verifying at least 1,329 starvation deaths in the months that followed. The 2022 Pretoria Agreement halted large-scale fighting but failed to resolve the underlying issues.

More than 30 Christians have been beheaded at the hands of Islamic State terrorists in Mozambique.

The Islamic group claimed responsibility for the attacks on Christian communities as Mozambique continues to be ravaged by jihad.

The Islamic State announced that they destroyed at least seven churches, committed acts of arson against Christians and village civilians, and shot and beheaded more than two dozen people in the Cabo Delgado and Nampula provinces in the northern area of Mozambique.

No protests. No news. Not outrage. It’s the same ideology behind the jihad against the Jewish state. And the world stands with the Islamic savages.

Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, opened the oversight hearing of the Department of Justice (DOJ) pushing a new narrative Democrats have latched on to: the lie that ICE agents zip-tied children during a Chicago raid.

“In the middle of the night, federal agents pulled women and children out of their beds, crashed down the doors to their homes, destroyed their apartments, zip-tied children and others, and detained immigrants and U.S. citizens alike for hours in vans,” Durbin claimed. “When one witness complained about the treatment of the small children, an agent laughed at her and said, ‘F them kids.’”

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker gave a dramatic description of this same story during a Monday press conference and has been repeating it every chance he gets.

But Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin posted that “children were never zip-tied.”

“This is a shameful and disgusting lie. POTUS Trump and Secretary Noem will not let children be exploited and trafficked by gangs and criminals like the past administration.”

An FBI document obtained by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) shows that the FBI, under Joe Biden, spied on 8 Republican senators as part of its Arctic Frost investigation.

Grassley said the 2023 investigation, which formed the basis of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s elector case against President Trump, targeted 8 GOP Senators’ personal cell phones for “tolling data” tracking their use between January 4 and January 7, 2021.

According to a press release from the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, the FBI targeted 8 GOP Senators, including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK),  Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) as well as Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA).

The Biden FBI targeted eight Republican senators’ personal cell phone information as part of an investigation that evolved into lawfare against Donald Trump, new records published Monday show.

The agency document released by Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, indicates that the FBI sought and obtained the cell phone “tolling data” of eight GOP senators and Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Penn., as part of its “Arctic Frost” inquiry in 2023. That investigation ultimately became Special Counsel Jack Smith‘s elector lawfare against Trump.

According to a Senate Judiciary Committee press release, the FBI obtained the data “about the senators’ phone use from January 4 through January 7, 2021.” The information, the presser noted, “shows when and to whom a call is made, as well as the duration and general location data of the call,” but “does not include the content of the call.”

The eight Senate Republicans targeted in the probe include Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, and Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming.

“Based on the evidence to-date, Arctic Frost and related weaponization by federal law enforcement under Biden was arguably worse than Watergate,” Grassley said in a statement. “What I’ve uncovered today is disturbing and outrageous political conduct by the Biden FBI. The FBI’s actions were an unconstitutional breach, and Attorney General Bondi and Director Patel need to hold accountable those involved in this serious wrongdoing.”

Impeach Judge Who Let Would-Be SCOTUS Assassin Off Easy– thefederalist.com

Last Friday, Judge Deborah Boardman of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland shocked anyone with a conscience by imposing a comically light sentence on the young man, Nicholas Roske, who tried to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the spring of 2022, while also planning to kill two more of Kavanaugh’s conservative colleagues.

In doing so, she functionally condoned political violence — as long as it’s from the left — and based her decision, in large part, on her sympathy for the purported transgender status of the would-be assassin. In a year of preposterous district court decisions, this one takes the cake: Boardman gave a slap on the wrist to someone who planned and attempted the worst sort of political terrorism, it seems, because of her ideological sympathies. The decision is so potentially corrosive to our civic peace that Congress would be right to consider impeachment proceedings against Boardman.

As federal district judges have found increasingly novel and extreme ways to foil the Trump administration’s agenda, calls on the right for judicial impeachment have grown. Indeed, actual articles of impeachment have been introduced. This past spring, the chief justice himself denounced the movement. That he did so was imprudent — it’s not for judges to decide how Congress wields the impeachment power — but his basic argument was probably right. Going back to the start of the republic, there has been a general agreement that mere political disagreement is not enough to warrant impeaching a judge.

Fully embracing anarchy, Democrat leaders in Chicago, a sanctuary city; and in Illinois, a sanctuary state, are using every possible method to thwart federal immigration authorities from removing illegal aliens and curtailing rampant crime there.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson issued an executive order Monday creating an ICE Free Zone, preventing ICE from using city property, such as parking lots, as staging areas, or for enforcement actions. City agencies are directed to use physical barriers like locked gates to limit access to city property, and report to the mayor any attempted use of city property for immigration enforcement. Chicago taxpayers will fund a city-wide distribution of “Know Your Rights” materials for employees, tenants, and security staff, training them to deal with federal agents wishing to use city property.

Gov. JB Pritzker announced the state filed a lawsuit Monday seeking a temporary restraining order to block President Donald Trump from using Illinois and Texas National Guard troops to manage crime in Chicago.

“Illinois is going to use every lever at our disposal to resist this power grab and get (DHS Sec. Kristi) Noem’s thugs hell out of Chicago,” Pritzker said in a Monday afternoon press conference. He also said several times that Texas troops should, “stay the hell out of Illinois.”

Over the weekend, Oct. 4, Border Patrol agents were conducting a patrol in Chicago when their vehicle was rammed by other vehicles and they were boxed in by 10 cars, according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statement.

Federal agents on Monday intercepted a Chicago gang leader who they claim was hiring for the assassination of a senior official in the U.S. Border Patrol, interfering with the gang’s illicit activities.

Juan Espinoza Martinez, a leading figure in the Latin Kings, was arrested as part of “Operation Midway Blitz” after allegedly offering cash bounties to any individuals who could carry out the murder of a top official in the Border Patrol, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security identified the official being targeted as Commander at Large of the U.S. Border Patrol, Chief Gregory Bovino.

U.S. Attorney Andrew S. Boutros called the alleged plot “an attack on the rule of law.”

“Putting a price on the life of a law enforcement officer is an attack on the rule of law,” Boutros said. “The defendant’s actions in this case demonstrate a profound contempt for human life and public safety. Under my leadership, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago will hold defendants accountable for their grave criminal actions and ensure that no federal officer has to fear for their life for doing their job.”

According to an indictment unsealed on Monday, Martinez is one of the highest sergeants in the Latin Kings, a nationwide gang that’s been linked to bloody murders of police officers, extortion, and human and drug trafficking. DHS said Martinez is from Mexico and entered the U.S. illegally at an unknown date.

Messages allegedly sent by Martinez over Snapchat stated  “2k on information when you get him” and “10k if you take him down.”

VA AG Candidate Suggests Killing Cops Would Lower Shootings– thefederalist.com

The Democrat candidate for Virginia’s attorney general allegedly suggested that if more police officers were killed then they would shoot fewer people, according to new allegations.

Jay Jones allegedly made the violent suggestion in a telephone conversation with Republican Delegate Carrie Coyner in 2020, according to a new report from Virginia Scope.

Coyner said she and Jones had a “heated conversation about public policy and pain involving qualified immunity.”

Coyner said Jones was trying to convince her to agree that police officers should not have qualified immunity (which, in Coyner’s words “protects police officers from personal liability in their line of duty and their line of work”).

“And I said, ‘I believe that people will get killed. Police officers will get killed.’ And [Jones] said, ‘Well, maybe if a few of them died, that they would move on, not shooting people, not killing people.’ And I said, ‘that’s insane.’ But he firmly believed that if you removed qualified immunity, that police officers would act differently, and I firmly believe that it would not result in good public policy, and it would put police officers and the public’s lives at risk if they have to second-guess themselves on a decision they’re making in a moment where someone is doing something violent,” Coyner said.

President Donald Trump has finally named the enemy: Mexican drug cartels. Declaring them unlawful combatants and recognizing a “non-international armed conflict” marks one of the most consequential national security shifts in modern history.

For decades, Washington treated cartel violence as a crime — a problem for prosecutors, not generals. Indictments were filed, assets seized, and sanctions imposed. But the cartels fought a different kind of war, one that combined terror, intelligence, and territorial control. Calling it “crime” guaranteed defeat.

We refused to define the cartels as belligerents — and fought the wrong fight.

According to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project, Mexico ranks among the world’s most violent conflict zones — behind only Palestine, Myanmar, and Syria. It is also the second-most dangerous country for civilians. Those numbers are not from a failed state overseas. They come from our southern border, where cartel wars spill into American communities daily.

“Numerous explosions” were reported after the strike at the Y M Sverdlov plant in Dzerzhinsk, which makes explosives for ammunition for Russia’s armed forces, the Ukrainian general staff said in a statement.

The attacks were carried out as part of a strategy to reduce Russias “offensive potential, as well as its missile and bomb capabilities”, the general staff said.

It added that the plant was one of Moscow’s largest producers of explosives, which are used in a wide variety of ammunition for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forces, including aviation and artillery shells, fighter jet bombs, anti-tank guided missiles and warheads for air defence missile systems.

Regional governor Gleb Nikitin said air defence forces had repelled an overnight attack by 20 drones near Dzerzhinsk. He said one person was injured by falling debris.

Mr Nikitin said there was fire damage to residential homes but “no damage was caused to industrial facilities”.

Sky News’s security and defence editor Deborah Haynes has described the targeting of the factory as “huge”.

‘Momentum’ in New Jersey race with Ciattarelli amid Sherrill bumps– www.washingtonexaminer.com

Excerpt:

Washington Examiner Contributing Writer Joe Concha said recent events in New Jersey’s gubernatorial election could tip the scales and give Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli the victory this November.

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) is facing several campaign setbacks amid reports on her, including failing to explain how she made $7 million in stock trades after getting elected to Congress and being unable to walk at her Naval Academy graduation in 1994. These two controversies have cast uncertainty on her winning New Jersey, which is reliably a Democratic stronghold.

Concha, a New Jersey resident himself, said the election isn’t about how it starts, but how it ends. He said almost all current polls put Ciattarelli and Sherrill in a “dead heat,” including one that was “the most accurate” on the 2024 election.

“So we have a Mikie Sherrill who, this is a business show, still can’t explain how she tripled her worth and made $7 million in stocks, defense stocks, amazingly that she picked just like [former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) husband] Paul Pelosi would, while she was on the Armed Services committee in the House,” Concha said on Fox Business’s Varney & Co.

“So, between that, between the fact that she obviously has a cheating scandal on her hands, she couldn’t even walk with her graduating class at the Naval Academy for some reason, yet she won’t explain or at least release the transcript as far as her disciplinary records. Jack Ciattarelli has all the momentum right now,” Concha said.

As part of the arrangement, AMD will allow OpenAI to purchase up to 160 million AMD shares at 1 cent each throughout the chips deal.

With demand for AI compute growing rapidly, companies like OpenAI have been looking for secondary supply lines and sources of additional computing capacity, and the AMD partnership is part the company’s wider effort to secure sufficient computing power for its AI operations. In September, Nvidia announced an investment of up to $100 billion in OpenAI that included supplying at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems. OpenAI plans to deploy a gigawatt of Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin chips in late 2026.

OpenAI has worked with AMD for years, according to Reuters, providing input on the design of older generations of AI chips such as the MI300X. The new agreement calls for deploying the equivalent of 6 gigawatts of computing power using AMD chips over multiple years.

Beyond working with chip suppliers, OpenAI is widely reported to be developing its own silicon for AI applications and has partnered with Broadcom, as we reported in February. A person familiar with the matter told Reuters the AMD deal does not change OpenAI’s ongoing compute plans, including its chip development effort or its partnership with Microsoft.

‘Swarms of Killer Robots’: Why AI is Terrifying the American Military – Politico

Artificial intelligence technology is poised to transform national security. In the United States, experts and policymakers are already experimenting with large language models that can aid in strategic decision-making in conflicts and autonomous weapons systems (or, as they are more commonly called, “killer robots”) that can make real-time decisions about what to target and whether to use lethal force.

But these new technologies also pose enormous risks. The Pentagon is filled with some of the country’s most sensitive information. Putting that information in the hands of AI tools makes it more vulnerable, both to foreign hackers and to malicious inside actors who want to leak information, as AI can comb through and summarize massive amounts of information better than any human. A misaligned AI agent can also quickly lead to decision-making that unnecessarily escalates conflict.

An international team of scientists led by researchers at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS), Imperial College London and the University of Cologne have discovered that microbes associated with tumors produce a molecule, which can control cancer progression and boost the effectiveness of chemotherapy.

Most people are familiar with the microbes on our skin or in our gut, but recent discoveries have revealed that tumors also host unique communities of bacteria. Scientists are now investigating how these tumor-associated bacteria can affect tumor growth and the response to chemotherapy.

New research, published online in Cell Systems on September 10, 2025, provides a significant breakthrough in this field, identifying a powerful anti-cancer metabolite produced by bacteria associated with colorectal cancer. This finding opens the door to new strategies for treating cancer, including the development of novel drugs that could make existing therapies more potent.

The researchers used a sophisticated large-scale screening approach to test over 1,100 conditions in a type of microscopic worm called C. elegans. Through this, they found that the bacteria E. coli produced a molecule called 2-methylisocitrate (2-MiCit) that could improve the effectiveness of the chemotherapy drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU).

President Donald Trump on Sunday ordered the deployment of four hundred Texas National Guard troops, with the consent of Gov. Greg Abbott (R), to Illinois and Oregon to protect ICE agents and federal facilities under violent siege by Antifa and other leftist terrorists in Chicago and Portland.

The orders federalize about 2,000 Texas National Guard under Northern Command, authorizing their deployment to “Illinois, Oregon and other locations throughout the United States,” with an initial deployment of 400 troops to Portland and Chicago.

The move follows Trump ordering California National Guard troops to Portland after a federal judge on Saturday blocked Trump from deploying the Oregon National Guard. Oregon, California and Portland went to court Sunday night to fight the new California orders.

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) flipped out earlier Sunday when he learned Trump, who had already federalized the state guard to protect Los Angeles in June, sent California National Guard troops to Portland, calling the orders “appalling” and “un-American.”

California lawmakers are once again leading the charge — not toward progress, but toward repression. Their latest move, Senate Bill 771 (SB-771), is being packaged as a bold stand against “hate” on social media. In reality, it’s a direct assault on the free expression and constitutionally protected speech of ministries, minority groups, and faith-based organizations.

The bill would force Big Tech to remove content that could be interpreted as “harassment” or “intimidation” based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and more — or face financially devastating lawsuits.

If Gov. Gavin Newsom signs this bill into law as expected, it will become one of the most dangerous speech-restricting laws in the country. Cloaked in the language of civil rights, SB-771 is built to punish dissent from progressive orthodoxy.

The target is anyone who dares to speak publicly about values or perspectives that conflict with the state’s ever-expanding list of protected identities. In practice, this means community groups sharing discussions on traditional family structures, cultural views on gender roles, or advocacy for certain social issues may find themselves silenced — not by law enforcement, but by tech giants eager to avoid legal risk.

The British government is quietly pushing through legislation that critics warn will expand cradle-to-grave surveillance, override parental rights, and lay the foundation for a dystopian control grid targeting children.

Branded the “Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill,” the measure is being sold to the public as a way to “safeguard” children and improve welfare.

In reality, the bill aligns seamlessly with the government’s digital ID agenda and globalist goals that have nothing to do with protecting children.

Introduced in December 2024, the legislation has already passed three readings in the House of Commons and is now before the House of Lords.

While marketed as a children’s welfare initiative, it contains sweeping provisions to expand government data collection, force compliance monitoring, and entrench state authority over education and child-rearing.

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an ultimatum on Thursday to universities in the state, warning them that entering an agreement with the Trump administration will put them directly at odds with the governor.

After the White House proposed a deal to nine universities promising that compliance with the administration’s agenda could grant them priority treatment in funding decisions, Newsom issued a harsh warning to any “sell-out universities” that might accept it.

The offer in Trump’s “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education” asks schools to stop racially discriminating in admissions and hiring decisions and commit to institutional neutrality and upholding free speech. Newsom said any school that complies with the federal government will “lose billions in state funding” instead.

“If any California University signs this radical agreement, they’ll lose billions in state funding — including Cal Grants — instantly,” Newsom said in a press release. “California will not bankroll schools that sell out their students, professors, researchers, and surrender academic freedom.”

Mathematicians Discover Prime Number Pattern in Fractal Chaos– www.scientificamerican.com

Excerpt:

Prime numbers are sometimes called math’s “atoms” because they can be divided by only themselves and 1. For two millennia, mathematicians have wondered if the prime numbers are truly random, or if some unknown pattern underlies their ordering. Recently number theorists have proposed several surprising conjectures on prime patterns—in particular, probabilistic patterns that show up in large groups of the mathematical atoms.

The patterns in the primes trace back to an 1859 hypothesis involving the legendary Riemann zeta function. Mathematician Bernhard Riemann derived a function that counts the number of primes up to a number x. It includes three main ingredients: a smooth estimate, a set of corrective terms coming from the Riemann zeta function, and a small error term.

Much has been written about the Riemann zeta function, but the most important thing to know is that it provides a correction to the smooth estimate. To do so, it takes on a wavy pattern, sometimes raising the count, sometimes lowering it. These corrective oscillations are determined by the locations of the zeros of the Riemann zeta function. In fact, the celebrated Riemann hypothesis claims that all such zeros lie on a “critical line” where the real part equals 12.

President Donald Trump on Sunday deployed 300 California National Guard personnel to Portland, Oregon, a longtime hotbed of left-wing extremism where violent riots targeting federal buildings and facilities have persisted for months. The move comes after a federal judge in Oregon attempted to block the president from taking federal control of the Oregon national guard in order to deploy 200 troops.

The news was shared by an irate California Governor Gavin Newsom, who lost a court case earlier this year when California Attorney General Rob Bonta attempted to block the president from doing the same with the state’s national guard in order to quell several days of sustained unrest. The California deployment is ongoing at the discretion of War Secretary Pete Hegseth.

“After a federal court blocked his attempt to federalize the Oregon National Guard, Donald Trump is deploying 300 California National Guard personnel into Oregon. They are on their way there now,” Newsom announced in an X post.

The governor added that the state will be challenging the deployment in court, calling it “authoritarian.”

Syria held its first parliamentary election on Sunday, nearly a year after a surprise rebellion toppled longtime President Bashar al-Assad in December.

Security forces were deployed around polling stations nationwide. Electoral college members entered polling booths to fill our their ballots, which were then placed in a sealed box until they were pulled out and counted in front of candidates, journalists and observers from the Syrian bar association.

The election however did not feature a direct vote by Syrian citizens.

The new People’s Assembly features 210 seats, 40 less than under al-Assad. Members of the new assembly will also serve two-and-a-half year terms.

Incumbent President Ahmed al-Sharaa will appoint 70 members to the assembly, the remaining 140 will be voted on by subcommittees, overseen by 11-person Supreme Committees, who were appointed by al-Sharaa.

Officials say this election was not a direct vote as they lacked “reliable census data” after millions of people were displaced by 14-years of brutal civil war.

Politically motivated violence is a joke for Jones, but it’s a reality for politicians and leaders who face threats of death daily.

Democrat Jay Jones is the 2025 nominee for Virginia’s attorney general and he’s trying to walk back horrific comments he made wherein he wished death upon a colleague and his children. “I am so deeply, deeply sorry,” he said, “for what I said. And I wish that it happened. And I would take it back if I could.” He didn’t begin his apology tour until he got caught.

Jones wants to be the top cop in Virginia who enforces the law in a nonpartisan manner, yet his personal beliefs are that people with whom he politically disagrees are worthy of “bullets” and so is their family. Apologies were not offered to the family he joked was deserving of murder until after the expose was published

It was revealed this week by National Review that Jones is a man who revels in politically motivated violence. In 2022, he sent texts to a colleague in which he joked about shooting former VA House Speaker Todd Gilbert.

As AI redefines work, US employers cut jobs and remain cautious in hiring – Computerworld– www.computerworld.com

Ben Johnston, COO of small business lender Kapitus, said US businesses are grappling with tariffs that raise costs on imported goods, potentially making domestic manufacturing more competitive long term. But in the short term, those tariffs risk driving up inflation and disrupting global supply chains, threatening jobs across the manufacturing, wholesale, and retail sectors.

AI is also beginning to displace workers, especially in white-collar jobs. Companies are currently investing heavily in AI technologies that can analyze data and quickly make decisions that once could only be made by humans, Johnston said.

Companies are using AI to gather and analyze data from the web, internal systems, and third parties — tasks once done only by humans — mainly in white-collar roles like analytics and underwriting. And as robotics advance, AI could soon take on physical tasks in blue-collar jobs like driving, factory work, and even home healthcare, Johnston noted.

With less than five weeks before Virginia’s statewide elections, a new poll finds the Republican gubernatorial nominee, Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, trending upward and closing the gap with her opponent, Democrat Abigail Spanberger.

The poll conducted by A2 Insights found Earle-Sears trailing Spanberger, a former three-term member of Congress, by 3.1 points—marking the closest margin Virginians have seen in the race to succeed term-limited Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin.

When asked who they would vote for if the election were held today, 44.6% said Earle-Sears, while 47.7% said Spanberger. Some 6.4% said they were undecided, and 1.3% said they would vote for another candidate.

“We can and should condemn the vandalism of a house of worship without criminalizing speech.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has argued that prosecutors drop charges against three Muslims accused of vandalizing a Texas church, arguing the act was political expression protected by the First Amendment.

In 2024, three individuals were charged in connection with graffiti spray-painted on the wall of a non-denominational church in Euless, Texas. The act of vandalism was carried out after the church raised an Israeli flag following Hamas’ October 7, 2023, terrorist attack on Israel. The phrase “F*** Israel” was painted on the walls of the church along with pro-Palestinian stickers, all of which were captured on the church’s security cameras.

Three suspects, identified as Raqunaq Alam, Asfsheen Khan, and Julia Venzor, were initially charged with felony criminal mischief, but the charges were later increased to a third-degree felony hate crime because they targeted a church.
