We reported to you last week that two members of our military had been killed in an ambush in Syria.

That report here in case you missed it:

BREAKING: U.S. Soldiers Killed in Ambush Near Palmyra as Syria Fighting Intensifies Again

Their names were not released until today.

Sadly, the two have been identified as Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres Tovar and Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, both of the Iowa National Guard:

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that its Office for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) has launched an investigation into certain housing practices implemented by the City of Boston over alleged racial discrimination in housing.

The investigation focuses on policies described as “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) initiatives, which HUD alleges may violate the Fair Housing Act and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by incorporating race-based preferences. The notification to the City of Boston was issued recently, following a prior letter from HUD expressing concerns that the city was using federal grant assistance in ways that include prohibited race-based preferences.

Examples include efforts under the city’s Fair Housing Assessment to target homebuyer outreach specifically at Black and “Latinx” families. This involves the Mayor’s Office of Housing, the Boston Planning Department, and the Boston Housing Authority collecting racial and ethnic data to evaluate programs through a racial equity and social justice perspective.

Heading into the midterm election season, the economy is still the No. 1 issue for voters, including among President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again coalition, a new poll shows.

The poll from NBC News Decision Desk showed that Republicans and MAGA Republicans are slightly shifting their outlook on the economy, becoming more likely to say their personal financial situation is worse off today than it was one year ago. The poll found that 64% of people think the economy is on the “wrong track,” compared to 60% at the beginning of the year.

Out of nine given categories, 27% of the 20,252 people polled between Nov. 20 and Dec. 8 listed the economy as the No. 1 issue that matters most to them, with 44% of survey respondents listing “inflation and the rising cost of living” as the most important economic matter to their family.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte issued a stern warning to the organization’s allied nations on Thursday, suggesting they stand as “Russia’s next target” after Ukraine.

Rutte delivered the sobering message that NATO countries are “already in harm’s way” during a keynote address at a Berlin event hosted by the Munich Security Conference. He equated Ukraine’s security with Europe’s security and predicted that “Russia could be ready to use military force against NATO within five years.”

“The dark forces of oppression are on the march again. I am here today to tell you where NATO stands, and what we must do to stop a war before it starts. And to do that, we need to be crystal clear about the threat. We are Russia’s next target, and we are already in harm’s way,” Rutte said.

The sentiment of Rutte’s address echoed that of his very first major address as NATO chief one year ago, in which he warned member nations that they must shift to a “wartime mindset” and be willing to hike defense spending to prevent a war with Russia. In his speech on Thursday, Rutte circled back to this message to show the efforts put toward defense spending since his initial call to arms, but warned against complacency.

New York’s Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani (D-Communist, Jew-hating Islamist) just admitted he has no idea where to get the $700 million necessary to fund his “free bus” scheme.

Actually, what you have here is a twofer. Not only does Mamdani have no plan, but here’s another example of the useless media asking these kinds of questions only after their guy ( a communist, Jew-hating Islamist) is safely in office.

The reporter points out that Mamdani does not want to take any money away from New York’s MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority). Mamdani agrees. Then comes the question a real media would’ve been asking relentlessly and for months during the campaign: “How are you getting the $700M to make the buses free if the governor is not for raising taxes?”

Mamdani answers with “raising the corporate tax.”

Senate Democrats today blocked a Republican health plan that would defund abortion by ensuring that Obamacare subsidies are not used to fund killing babies in abortions.

Democrats blocked the Crapo Cassidy bill on a 51 to 48 vote, with 60 votes necessary for the measure to move forward for debate and a final vote.

The vote was remarkable in the sense that over 50 Republican Senators agreed to the pro-life healthcare plan that would ensure that abortions are not funded with taxpayer dollars.

Republicans are unlikely to agree to a pro-abortion healthcare plan put forward by Democrat leader Chuck Schumer. Obamacare has been responsible for funding thousands of abortions with taxpayer dollars and Republican members are not inclined to go along with continuing that abortion funding.

The Senate Armed Services Committee holds a hearing on President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to high-crime Democrat-run cities on Thursday, December 11.

Trump deployed the National Guard to Washington, DC, along with federalizing the capital’s police to crack down on rampant crime. The president followed this up with deployments to other Democrat-run cities like Los Angeles and Chicago in response to civil unrest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.

In November two members of the National Guard were shot by an Afghan national brought to the U.S. by the Biden administration following the disastrous withdrawal of American troops from the country.

Republicans in Kentucky are trying to end DEI in the state’s public schools, which is an objectively good thing. However, not everyone is on that bandwagon, including Rep. Sarah Stalker.

According to Stalker, it’s a privilege to be born with white skin. Unclear what she means by that because she provided zero evidence to support her statements, but you do the math. Nonetheless, what she said is worse than you can imagine.

According to the Kentucky Lantern:

When committee members were able to question the proposal, a few Democrats voiced opposition. Rep. Sarah Stalker, D-Louisville, said that by ending DEI in education, the General Assembly would be “missing an incredible opportunity.” As a white woman, she’s had moments to reflect on her own privilege that many of her colleagues, friends, family and more do not have.

“I think we’re missing an opportunity when kids have a moment to reflect about how the color of their skin does and does not allow them to move through the world,” Stalker said. “Running to them and trying to stifle that and trying to say, ‘You shouldn’t feel bad, so we don’t want to ever expose you to something that is going to make you have to pause and have maybe some internal feelings.’ It’s a missed opportunity for some really good dialog.”

Supposed censorship of library books took off as a faux-major issue during the Biden’s Handlers’ Administration. This was almost entirely in response to local efforts to remove LGBTQWERTY+- books from public and school libraries, or to at least place age-appropriate limits on them.

Among the most commonly banned books of all time has been Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. That beloved book has weathered fire from the left and right. Some on the right have wanted to ban it because it depicts a child—Huck Finn—often outsmarting adults. Much of the left thinks the entire book racist, which is odd considering Twain labors mightily to depict slaves as human beings worthy of kindness.

What remains most odd is removing a book from library shelves, or simply applying age restrictions, isn’t censorship by dictionary definition or in practical application. In America, no one is preventing authors from writing whatever they please, nor are publishers prevented from printing a book or book sellers from selling it. There is no prior restraint. This is a happy result of the First Amendment, unlike anything enjoyed by any other nation, including England. Anyone, or any parent, can buy such books at will, and outlets like Amazon make that fast and easy.

Leaders of the “Coalition of the Willing” supporting Ukraine will hold a follow-up videoconference on Thursday, with President Zelensky participating, the French presidency said. European countries are struggling to make up for halted US aid, as overall support for Ukraine has dropped in 2025. While France, Germany, and the UK have increased contributions, Italy and Spain have cut or stopped aid. The European Commission plans to use frozen Russian assets for a major Ukraine loan package, but the proposal faces resistance, especially from Belgium. FRANCE 24’s Dave Keating has the details.

When Pete Hegseth was made Donald Trump’s secretary of war, there was shock and consternation. Since then he has put highly classified plans to bomb Yemen on a group chat and ordered executions of Venezuelans in the sea, reportedly insisting they “kill everybody”, even when the survivors who were seen clinging to a boat could pose no threat.

The former Fox News talkshow host holds one of the most powerful jobs in the world and has come to it with a clear ideology. He wants to bring his “warrior culture” to the US military. Joseph Gedeon, a breaking news reporter for the Guardian US, tells Nosheen Iqbal:

His whole thing is about what he calls the warrior ethos. His whole message is that America fights with one hand tied behind its back because of lawyers, oversight and cultural distractions.

Twelve years ago, in 2013, the Gatestone Institute published an in-depth account of the Muslim Brotherhood’s infiltration operations vs. the U.S. government (written by this author). The vicious outburst of antisemitic Jew-hatred that followed the horrific Hamas atrocities of October 7, 2023, centered alarmingly on America’s university campuses but also was evident in violent attacks against Jews on our streets and at their synagogues. Much of this was obviously coordinated, orchestrated, and funded by Muslim Brotherhood (MB) front groups such as the National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP) and others—again written about here by this author at American Greatness in May 2025. The broader implications, as noted in that piece, must lead to Hamas and Brotherhood sponsors abroad as well as here at home.

As the new Trump administration came into office in January 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi established the Joint Task Force October 7 (JTF 10-7), whose purpose is to seek justice for the victims of October 7 but also to address “the ongoing threat posed by Hamas and its affiliates” in the homeland. The Department of Justice (DOJ) also set up the Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, led by civil rights attorney Leo Terrell. Clearly, the new Trump administration is aware of and determined to counter antisemitism by going after the organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood that sponsor it. However, it still seems not to have focused on nation-state sponsors, like Qatar and Turkey.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox, a Republican, has stunned conservatives after he appeared to endorse the presidential prospects of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro,  a rising Democrat star widely expected to run for president in 2028.

Cox joined Shapiro for a joint CNN interview that aired while President Donald Trump was holding an economic rally in Pennsylvania.

Shapiro, who enjoys strong poll numbers in his battleground state, has long been viewed as a likely Democrat contender and was reportedly a finalist to become former Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate before she ultimately chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

During the interview, CNN host Dana Bash directly asked Cox whether Shapiro would make a good president.

“Yeah, I do,” Cox replied immediately.

“The sanctuary politicians in Washington failed once again to protect American citizens by refusing to honor our ICE arrest detainer.”

A criminal illegal alien with a long record of DUIs, drugs, and two prior deportations was released back onto the streets of Washington state after allegedly causing a six-car pileup involving a school bus while driving a semi-truck without a license, even though federal immigration authorities had lodged a detainer and requested custody.

The US Department of Homeland Security announced that ICE filed an immigration detainer for Juan Hernandez-Santos, a Mexican national accused of causing the December 4 wreck in Lacey, Washington, when the 18-wheeler he was driving slammed into another vehicle, triggering a multi-car chain reaction that included a school bus on I-5 near Martin Road. Because of Washington’s sanctuary policies, local authorities refused to honor the ICE detainer and released him instead of transferring him to federal custody.

Democrats have a knack for downplaying political violence when it suits their political narrative, but Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) took it to a new, disgraceful low on Thursday.

During a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing, the Mississippi Democrat, who previously chaired Nancy Pelosi’s handpicked January 6 Select Committee, decided to rewrite history. He referred to the targeted assassination attempt on American soldiers by Afghan Rahmanullah Lakanwal as an “unfortunate accident.”

You really have to see the transcript to believe the level of disconnect on display here.

Thompson was questioning DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and NCTC Director Joseph Kent. He attempted to trap them in a bureaucratic gotcha moment regarding asylum paperwork. In the process, he revealed exactly how the Left views threats to our nation. Thompson looked at Secretary Noem and casually referred to “the unfortunate accident that occurred with the National Guardsman being killed.”

Glenn Beck, a prominent conservative commentator as well as founder of The Blaze, has been in contact with a Saskatchewan woman approved for MAID (medical assistance in dying) after he offered to pay for her surgery in the US.

Jolene Van Alstine has a rare thyroid disease (parathyroid hyperplasia) which causes increased blood calcium levels which can lead to abdominal pain and broken bones. She has dealt with depression, nausea and vomiting, according to the Toronto Sun.

She had surgery in 2020 to remove the glands, but as the pain returned shortly thereafter, her husband, Miles Sundeen, believes that some of the gland was left in, and she has been unsuccessful in getting the surgery to remove the remaining parathyroid gland.

President Donald Trump leveled sanctions against a major Venezuelan model and influencer over her alleged support for the Tren de Aragua gang.

Jimena Romina Araya Navarro, also known as Rosita, is a famous Venezuelan model, influencer, and DJ who performs at clubs internationally. She’s known for her sizable social media presence, boasting over 3.5 million followers on Instagram, where she posts videos showcasing her glamorous lifestyle. She’s also “romantically linked” to the leader of TdA, Niño Guerrero, and one of the most notable members of the entertainment industry to provide critical support for the deadly TdA.

The designated foreign terrorist organization is known for crimes, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, extortion, sexual exploitation of women and children, money laundering, and murder-for-hire, according to the Treasury Department.

Washington, D.C., Councilwoman Janeese Lewis George played the political fundraising game so well in her mayoral campaign’s opening days that the district’s campaign finance system couldn’t handle it.

Given the “unprecedented size” of her initial fundraising filing, Lewis George’s campaign needed to split up their filings because the campaign website couldn’t accept the large report. The councilwoman’s campaign said that they spent “dozens of hours” manually uploading thousands of donor records because of the website’s error. They will later upload an amended report to include more donors.

The socialist has been a prolific fundraiser in the opening days of her campaign, backed by a well of D.C. grassroots support and the city’s matching funds system. She broke the record for qualifying for the city’s public financing system in just a few hours. Mayor Muriel Bowser set the record in 2022, but it took her two weeks.

The new report showed the campaign drew $188,591 from D.C. residents in its first 10 days, with 2,567 unique district donors. D.C.’s 5-to-1 match will give Lewis George nearly $1 million in matching funds, on top of $30,000 in outside contributions and an $80,000 grant.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has ignited a political firestorm after reposting a resurfaced video of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and accusing the radical Democrat congresswoman of treason for pledging to use her position in Congress to protect Somalia’s interests.

“This sounds like treason,” Musk wrote on X.

Musk made the remark while responding to a clip of Omar telling Somali constituents in Minnesota that “The U.S. government will do what we ask it to do.”

Omar continues by assuring Somalis that she would use her seat in Congress to block the breakaway Republic of Somaliland from allowing Ethiopia to build a naval base.

Serious questions are mounting in Michigan as state lawmakers raise alarms over what they describe as large-scale voter registration irregularities — including tens of thousands of new registrations flagged with invalid Social Security numbers and a voter roll that reportedly exceeds the state’s adult population by roughly half a million names.

State Sen. Johnson has publicly warned that Michigan’s election system is “wide open for abuse,” pointing directly to the Help America Vote Verification System (HAVV) — the database intended to confirm the accuracy of voter registration information.

According to Johnson, roughly 100,000 people registered to vote in Michigan last year, and 36% of them — about 36,000 applicants — submitted invalid four-digit Social Security number matches, yet were still allowed to complete registration.

“This should never happen,” he said. “If those numbers cannot be verified, the registration should not go through. Period.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will hold a press briefing at around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, a day after the United States seized an oil tanker off the Venezuelan coast.

He later added that “it was seized for a very good reason.”

The Supreme Court heard a case today involving First Choice Women’s Resource Centers, a pro-life Christian ministry in New Jersey that has spent four decades serving women facing unplanned pregnancies.

In First Choice Women’s Resource Centers v. Platkin, the state’s attorney general tried to force First Choice to disclose how it applies its statement of faith to employees and volunteers, trains its staff to interact with expectant mothers consistent with its religious mission, collaborates with churches to support its ministry, relates to other pro-life organizations, and how it explains what God is doing in its ministry—without a single complaint or any evidence of wrongdoing.

What’s more, New Jersey insists that First Choice has no right to federal court review before being forced to expose its mission to state scrutiny. Becket filed a friend-of-the-court brief asking the Justices to protect religious ministries like First Choice from invasive government efforts to interrogate them because of their religiously inspired ministries. Read more about the cases Becket is watching at the Court this term here.
