DALLAS — Texas officials labored to account for more than 160 people originally reported missing along the Guadalupe River after the deadly July Fourth floods before ultimately concluding that most were safe and only three individuals still haven’t been found, the top executive in the hardest-hit county said Monday.

“Most of them were tourists that came into town and left and went back home and didn’t report that they were there,” Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly said at a special meeting of the county commissioner court. He called the process a “Herculean effort.”

The flash floods killed at least 135 people in Texas, and most of the deaths were in Kerr County, where destructive, fast-moving water rose 26 feet (8 meters) on the Guadalupe River, washing away buildings and vehicles in the area about 60 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of San Antonio.

The sharp revision in the number of missing by Kerr County officials on Saturday followed a familiar pattern in the often chaotic aftermath of large-scale disasters. Hundreds of people were reported missing in the initial days after the floods through a phone hotline and email address, which launched investigators on an “exhaustive effort” to verify the status of each of those individuals, Kerrville police spokesperson Jonathan Lamb said.

TL;DR:

  • Somali-American State Senator Omar Fateh, a 35-year-old democratic socialist, has won the DFL (Democratic Party) endorsement for Mayor of Minneapolis, defeating two-term incumbent Jacob Frey at a chaotic party convention.
  • While Frey remains in the race for the November general election, Fateh’s victory signals a growing shift toward progressive and minority-led leadership in urban Democratic strongholds.

What happened?

Over the weekend, the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party, Minnesota’s branch of the US Democratic Party, held its Minneapolis convention to decide who it would endorse for mayor. After a tumultuous day marked by technical glitches, paper ballots, and a dramatic walkout by Frey supporters, Omar Fateh emerged with the endorsement, receiving over 60% of delegate support by a show-of-hands vote.

Entanglement has now become the key resource in quantum information theory. It is being used in quantum teleportation and quantum cryptography, quantum computing, communication, and precision measurements.

More than 200 years after Sadi Carnot introduced the second law of thermodynamics, scientists have discovered a similar rule for the quantum world. This new “second law of entanglement” demonstrates that quantum entanglement can be altered and reversed in a controlled manner, much like the behavior of energy in classical thermodynamics. Until now, many researchers doubted this was possible.

The study could advance the understanding of entanglement’s basic properties. It also offers significant insight into effectively regulating entanglement and other quantum phenomena in practice.

Scientists have noticed many parallels between quantum entanglement and thermodynamics. One key example is entanglement entropy, which behaves like thermodynamic entropy, a measure of disorder, but in ideal, perfectly controlled quantum systems.

Hillary was desperate to stop Trump because she knew the crimes Obama, Biden and herself had carried out during the preceding eight years constituted high crimes and misdemeanors, and TREASON.

Here’s a few of the highlights…

*They opened the borders to flood America with illegal aliens desperate for welfare and free healthcare for life, who would vote Democrat forever more, to keep the checks coming, and therefore turn America into a one party state.

*The Obamacare scam that literally destroyed healthcare for every working class and middle class American, and raised healthcare prices through the roof, in order to give it away free to every poor Democrat voter and millions of illegal aliens.

*Benghazi- a PR disaster that led to the deaths of Americans to cover up a gun-running operation between the Obama administration and Islamic terrorist groups in Iraq.

*Pallets of cash handed to Iran on an unmarked cargo plane- billions of dollars that would be used to fund terrorism all over the world.

*Hillary- with Obama’s approval- extorted over $100 million from Russian businessmen to the Clinton Foundation, in return for giving away a large portion of America’s Uranium stock.

Florida health authorities have confirmed four deaths and several illnesses caused by Vibrio vulnificus, a rare but deadly “flesh-eating” bacteria found in warm saltwater, brackish water, and contaminated seafood. Though infections are uncommon, they can rapidly become life-threatening, especially when bacteria enter open wounds or the bloodstream. With rising ocean temperatures and increased flooding due to hurricanes, such cases are becoming more frequent along the Gulf Coast. Although rare, the high fatality rate makes awareness and early intervention crucial. By taking preventive steps and recognizing symptoms early, individuals can significantly reduce their risk of serious illness from this dangerous marine bacterium. Here’s a comprehensive look at where Vibrio vulnificus thrives, how it infects humans, the symptoms, and how you can protect yourself from this dangerous pathogen.

Scientists have used a single injection to correct gene mutations caused by an ultra-rare disease, improving symptoms and survival rates in mice.

Published in Cell, the gene editing study targeted the 2 most common mutations that cause alternating hemiplegia in childhood (AHC).

AHC is a rare neurological disorder affecting 1 in a million people. Symptoms, which usually begin before the age of 18 months, include weakness and paralysis in one or both sides of the body, muscle stiffness and, in some cases, seizures.

Current treatments help with symptom management but there is no known cure for AHC.

The researchers consisted of a team from the Rare Disease Translational Centre, the Broad Institute and the not-for-profit, RARE Hope.

Mice models were previously developed by Markus Terrey and Cathleen Lutz, vice president of the Rare Disease Translational Centre.

“Five years ago, people would have thought that going into the brain of a living organism and correcting DNA was science fiction. Today, we know this is doable,” says Terrey, who co-led the study.

An Indiana IKEA employee was fired after refusing to call his co-worker “they/them” and filed an official complaint due to “unlawful termination,” the Indiana Family Institute said in a Wednesday press release.

Steven Ressler, a “devout Christian who believes there are only two genders” and who’s worked at IKEA since 2019, was under investigation in December for “misgendering” his co-worker. Soon after, Ressler filed for a “religious accommodation request” to “inform my employer of my religious beliefs and engage in the interactive process in good faith,” the press release said.

Three days after filing the religious exemption, Ressler was fired on the basis of “misgendering,” the press release said.

“I believe IKEA discriminated against me by failing to accommodate my sincerely held religious beliefs against using ‘they/them’ pronouns when addressing a transgender employee and terminated me for misgendering,” Ressler said.

Ressler filed a “formal complaint” with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, the press release said.

National security think tanks have long been funded by old-guard contractors like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. In recent years, the Trump-tied software and data analytics firm Palantir, which is competing with those legacy contractors for federal weapons programs, has been getting in on the game.

In the first half of this year, Palantir gave nearly $1.7 million to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute, according to a disclosure it filed last week with the House. The sum of the donations, made in March, is on par with what the firm gave to the nonprofit in 2023 and 2024. Palantir appears to have given far more to the Reagan Foundation—where its co-founder Joe Lonsdale is on the board of trustees, alongside figures from the Republican Party establishment—than to other defense think tanks that shape national security planning and populate the revolving door between the Pentagon and weapons companies.

Under the Trump administration, Palantir is getting a boom in government contracts, which are the company’s largest source of revenue. The Silicon Valley-style defense company, tapped in recent months to expand its technology work with federal agencies like the Department of Defense, has been cheering its rising profits in earnings calls. In May, the Army boosted Palantir’s contract for Project Maven, an A.I.-powered targeting system, to a total of $1.3 billion. The firm’s CEO Alex Karp crowed “Palantir is on fire” on a first-quarter earnings call, and its stock price just hit a record high.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Tuesday said he is likely to hash out an extension of President Donald Trump‘s upcoming trade deadline with China when he meets with his Chinese counterparts in Stockholm, Sweden, next week.

The two sides in mid-May agreed to a 90-day suspension of most of the heavy tariffs on each others’ goods while they continued trade negotiations. That suspension is set to expire on Aug. 12.

But “we’ll be working out what is likely an extension” during talks in Stockholm on Monday and Tuesday, Bessent said in a Fox Business interview.

“I think trade is in a very good place with China,” he said.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson later Tuesday morning confirmed that his country would host the latest round of talks between Washington and Beijing.

“It is positive that both countries wish to meet in Sweden to seek mutual understanding,” Kristersson said on X in a translated post.

President Trump is hosting Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. this afternoon at the White House amid Trump’s threat to impose 20% tariffs on imports from the Southeast Asian island nation.

Marcos also met with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth this morning to discuss the military alliance between the United States and Philippines, as well as China.

Trade will be the top item on the agenda for Marcos’s meeting with the President of the United States.

In a letter, dated July 9, Trump put President Marcos on notice of the “significant Trade Deficit,” warning that tariffs of 20% will be charged starting on August 1, unless Philippine companies build and manufacture in the United States or the Philippines reduces trade barriers.

“If for any reason you decide to raise your Tariffs, then, whatever the number you choose to raise them by, will be added onto the 20% that we charge,” President Trump warned.

“If you wish to open your heretofore closed Trading Markets to the United States, and eliminate your Tariff, and Non-Tariff, Policies and Trade Barriers, we will, perhaps, consider an adjustment to this letter.”

But Israeli forces stepped up action in the central Gazan city of Deir al-Balah yesterday – despite fears October 7 hostages are being held there.

An unprecedented joint statement condemning the war was signed by the foreign ministers of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

It said: “We come together with a simple, urgent message: the war in Gaza must end now. The suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths.

At least 19 people were killed and 164 injured as a Bangladesh air force training jet crashed into a college and school campus in the capital Dhaka on Monday after experiencing a technical problem shortly after takeoff, a military spokesperson said.

The F-7 BGI jet took off at 1:06 p.m. from the Bangladesh Air Force base in Kurmitola, Dhaka, as part of a routine training mission, but encountered a mechanical failure, said the spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Sami Ud Dowla Chowdhury.

“The pilot … made a valiant attempt to divert the aircraft away from densely populated areas. Despite his best efforts, the aircraft … crashed into a two-story building belonging to Milestone School and College,” he said.

The pilot was among those killed in the incident, the military said, adding that a committee had been formed to investigate its cause.

The Israeli military has launched a ground operation on Monday in the central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah, sending in tanks a day after dropping leaflets on neighbourhoods advising people to evacuate.

The ground operation, the first to take place in the city since the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza erupted in 2023, is being accompanied by aerial strikes by Israel’s air force.

Eyewitnesses said massive air strikes took place on the city overnight into Monday, one of the last remaining areas of the Strip not to suffer significant damage from the war.

The city is hosting thousands of Palestinians displaced from southern Gaza and is also the main hub for erratic aid deliveries due to its central location.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) cautioned against a military operation in Deir al-Balah after the IDF dropped evacuation orders on the city on Sunday.

Britain on Monday slapped sanctions on 135 oil tankers in Russia’s shadow fleet in a bid to disrupt the flow of money helping Moscow fund the war in Ukraine.

A shipping services company and an oil trading firm were also sanctioned as part of the crackdown on a fleet “responsible for illicitly carrying $24 billion worth of cargo since the start of 2024,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.

Security analysts say the fleet of aging vessels is used by Russia to circumvent international sanctions that ban it from selling oil.

Hundreds of vessels have now been sanctioned by the European Union and the U.K. since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

“New sanctions will further dismantle Putin’s shadow fleet and drain Russia’s war chest of its critical oil revenues,” Foreign Minister David Lammy said Monday.

The action came just days after “the U.K. and EU lowered the crude oil price cap further disrupting the flow of oil money into Putin’s war chest,” the ministry statement added.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday renewed his offer to meet with Russia’s Vladimir Putin and negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine, but hopes of progress were low as delegations prepared to hold another round of talks.

Russian forces, meanwhile, pounded four Ukrainian cities in nighttime attacks that officials said killed a child.

Putin has spurned Zelenskyy’s previous offers of a face-to-face meeting to end Europe’s biggest conflict since World War II. But the Ukrainian leader insists that lower-level delegations like the ones expected for talks in Istanbul on Wednesday don’t have the political heft to stop the fighting. The sides remain far apart on how to end the war begun by Russia’s full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, 2022.

“Ukraine never wanted this war, and it is Russia that must end the war that it itself started,” Zelenskyy said in a Telegram post.

The best way to fight back against an imperial president who is determined to rewrite history through bullying threats and intimidation is not to yield.

Former CIA Director John Brennan is one of four former intelligence officials who have been referred to the DOJ for prosecution because they wrote reports and signed letters about Russia interfering in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump.

On MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, Brennan defended the intelligence:

Anybody who looks at the intelligence assessment and the work that was done will see that it was very carefully worded, meticulously done, and it stands up to scrutiny and to the test of time. As you pointed out, there have been numerous reviews about it, and it didn’t say any of the things that tools Gabbard alleges it said or didn’t say.

And I, I really do encourage people to read it because it was very clear in terms of what it said that the Russians were using at President Putin’s direction influenced operations to try to denigrate Hillary Clinton, try to increase the prospects for Donald Trump’s selection, and also just to undermine the integrity of our election system.

And again, those were the primary judgements. Again, they are ones that certainly I and others who were involved continue to stand behind.

Now that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement budget is larger than those for most of the world’s militaries, they’ve got plenty of money sloshing around to hire 10,000 new agents, which will surely allow them to ratchet up arrests of harmless day laborers at Home Depot. But how to find those 10,000 new hires? ICE seems to be starting by begging retirees to come back.

A recruitment page on ICE’s website features the obligatory scowling Uncle Sam. Retired ICE agents who return are eligible for up to $50,000 in bonuses and can still receive their basic federal retirement annuity. In other words, for these rehires, taxpayers will be paying:

  1. Their base salary, which starts at $105,000 for ICE criminal investigators and nearly $89,000 for deportation officers.
  2. Federal health care benefits.
  3. Base federal retirement annuity.
  4. A stratospheric hiring bonus of up to $50,000.

That may seem like a steep price, but hey, how else to ensure that migrant children are left alone when their mothers are deported, or that immigrants are mistakenly deported? How else to ensure that ICE has enough agents to arrest migrants at courthouses after federal immigration judges, in collusion with government attorneys, drop immigration cases so that the migrant can be immediately arrested when they leave the courtroom?

It was another banner news suppression day for the legacy network evening newscasts. In addition to their continued non-coverage of the Biden autopen scandal and of the explosive Russia Hoax document drop, the legacies mostly suppressed the revealing interview of one Robert Hunter Biden.

ABC and CBS, in addition to ignoring the aforementioned events, made no observance whatsoever of the one-year anniversary of President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential campaign and subsequent de facto appointment of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell very gingerly navigated this potential minefield for NBC Nightly News. Here’s how her D.C. roundup closed out:

JAKE TAPPER: Thank you, President Biden.

Donald Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan cried to the media that a migrant doesn’t have to be a criminal to be arrested, detained and deported now because their immigration status decides if they are a criminal. This, despite the fact that being undocumented is not a crime; it’s a civil violation.

During the run up to the 2024 election, Donald Trump and JD Vance continually proclaimed that every migrant crossing the border were either serial killers, cannibals, murderers, or rapists.

These were the migrants he was going to deport.

Since racist Stephen Miller is in control of ICE now (basically the whole country really), Trump’s immigration policies require 80-year-old migrants, children playing on soccer fields, day workers, farm workers, and brown people in general to be scooped up by unmarked cars and balaclava-wearing masked men so they can be shipped off to alligator prisons.

This is Trump’s America.

Here is Tom “General Zod” Homan ranting during a presser earlier today.

ZOD: Then I read another story about how most people in ICE detention aren’t criminals. Now the story is, how bad of a criminal they have to be.

I saw a story the other day, only 1% of the illegal aliens removed were murderers.

Are you kidding me? Being in the country illegally is not illegal anymore, you got committed murder to be deported?

If you look at ICE detention, I’ll say it again, look at detention, who’s in detention, I looked at the numbers this morning, a majority are criminals, have criminal history.

Who are the rest? Border cases, who a judge ordered removed. The others are expedited removal, by federal statute, demands they be detained. So with the media out there, let’s try telling the truth about the men and women of ICE and the men and women of the Border Patrol.

During a press conference on Monday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took time away from failing Texans recovering from deadly floods to throw New York City Mayor Eric Adams under the bus.

“I know you guys have got a leadership election in this country, or in this city that’s going to be happening soon,” Noem told reporters. “Boy, start looking at the candidates today and see which one is going to start making the city safer. Because you’ve got a mayor today that could have done better and could have done better—and maybe he’d have more support today if he had, if he’d have put his people first.

So much for the former Democrat’s attempts to cozy up to President Donald Trump during a very public corruption case. As Noem’s comments make clear, Trump’s Cabinet members have little interest in loyalty unless it serves their personal political needs. There is no amount of genuflecting that will shield you from being sold down the river in order to deflect blame.

Adams’ increasingly desperate bid to remain both in power and out of legal jeopardy has culminated in him leaving the Democratic Party after realizing he had little chance of securing its mayoral nomination. If Adams’ plan was to court moderate Republican voters in the upcoming race against popular progressive mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, Trump’s team of terrorists aren’t going to be much help.

The Justice Department recently acknowledged that it is conducting a criminal investigation of both former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey. The current CIA director, John Ratcliffe, made a criminal referral to the DOJ concerning Brennan. Many believe that referral involves perjury on Brennan’s part when testifying before Congress or during Special Counsel John Durham’s inquiry.

The precise criminal offenses concerning Comey are not clear at this point. But there was certainly plenty of malfeasance and misfeasance by both these agency heads starting with the inception of the Russia collusion fiasco.

Comey described, in his book, the sole origin of the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign as a report “from an allied ambassador” of a conversation in London between a Trump adviser and “a Russian agent.” That was his characterization of George Papadopoulos’ meeting with Joseph Mifsud, who told the Trump aide the Russians had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. Comey has piously huffed that it would have been “dereliction” not to proceed with an investigation. But to proceed with an intrusive investigation on so little was abuse.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Chicago finally grabbed up an illegal alien from Mexico who murdered and decapitated a woman because Illinois Democrats kept releasing him every time he was re-arrested.

You read that right, Illinois kept releasing an illegal alien who perpetrated the brutal rape, murder, and decapitation of an Illinois citizen. Illinois Democrats are so sold out to illegal aliens over their own citizens that they won’t even let ICE deport a man who rapes and murders us.

This is where the Democrat Party is, folks.

Per Just the News:

Immigration law enforcement officers in Chicago arrested a Mexican illegal immigrant who was released by a judge following accusations that he decapitated a missing Illinois woman and stored her body in a container with bleach.

The Department of Homeland Security said that Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, 52, of Waukegan, Illinois, was initially arrested in April and charged with obstructing justice, hiding a corpse and abusing a corpse, according to a Fox News report.

Lake County Judge Randie Bruno released Mendoza-Gonzalez from custody following his first court appearance, Fox News reported.

A man who decapitated his wife and paraded her head down the street was sentenced to a mere eight years in prison in Iran. He was spared a tougher sentence after her parents reportedly declined to enact Iran’s Islamic law of retribution.

Mona Heydari, a mother of one, was only 17 when she was pulled from a car outside her family home and murdered in February 2022, according to court proceedings. Her husband Sajjad Heydari, and his brother Heydar, carried out the horrific attack in Ahvaz, the capital of the southwestern Khuzestan Province.

A judiciary spokesman said the leniency of the sentence was due to Mona’s parents having “pardoned” him for the murder rather than seeking retribution.

Mona, who had been married when she was just 12, initially escaped her abusive husband and fled to Turkey with another man, the court was told. Heydari had reportedly refused Mona’s requests for a divorce. Her father, identified as Javid in local reports, eventually tracked her down and persuaded her to return to Iran.
