President Donald Trump has ordered 300 California troops to Oregon after a judge temporarily blocked Trump from using Oregon troops.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom posted on social media.

“After a federal court blocked his attempt to federalize the Oregon National Guard, Donald Trump is deploying 300 California National Guard personnel into Oregon. They are on their way there now.

We are taking this fight back to court.

The public cannot stay silent in the face of such reckless and authoritarian conduct by the President of the United States.”

Antifa Member Confronts Person in Freedom Shirt—and Learns the Hard Way– www.louderwithcrowder.com

Protesting in Portland every night already says a lot about you—but this video proves just how ridiculously pathetic it can get. One Antifa member may have realized that the hard way.

In the video, we see an Antifa member kick a man who appears to lean more right-wing than his attacker. The man responds in what some might call self-defense, and—well—the Antifa member ends up taken down. Or, in other words, he f**ed around and found out. What’s astonishing, though, is that both were arrested. While I wasn’t there, and it’s unclear exactly what the police saw, the video clearly shows who threw the first kick.

What I found so bizarre is that the lib instinctively chose to kick rather than throw a punch. I’m not sure what that says, but clearly, he had no clue what he was doing and gambled his chances, which he clearly lost.

But I think what’s even more bizarre is him intentionally going limp on the floor, forcing the police officer to carry him instead of walking to the cruiser—a move more immature than a toddler throwing a tantrum. I don’t know about you, but that part felt pretty unsettling to me.

During a recent interview with Breitbart News, Presler described what he sees as the biggest hurdle facing Republicans in the upcoming elections and it’s a very simple one. Voter turnout.

According to Presler, Republican voter turnout is going to determine the outcome in key elections this year, and he is concerned.

Canine expert reveals toxic truth: Over-vaccination and poor nutrition fueling pet health crisis– wltreport.com

Excerpt:

  • Rabies vaccine deception: The “1-year” and “3-year” rabies vaccines are identical—vets push annual boosters for profit. Titer testing (antibody checks) is a safer alternative to unnecessary revaccination.
  • Toxic pet food crisis: Most kibble contains cheap fillers (corn, rice) and meat byproducts (bones, guts), harming dogs’ health. Raw or freeze-dried diets improve digestion, coat quality, and behavior.
  • Avoid dog parks: They spread diseases (like Parvo) and aggression due to untrained dogs. Controlled socialization in professional settings is safer.
  • Veterinary corruption: Like Big Pharma, vets profit from unnecessary vaccines, chemical flea treatments, and low-quality kibble—exploiting lax pet healthcare regulations.
  • Protect your pet: Skip unnecessary shots, feed real food, avoid dog parks, and learn canine body language. Education is key to breaking harmful industry practices.

ICE Raid & Trump Speech One of Darkest Days In U.S. History– www.newsbusters.org

Last Tuesday, September 30th, ICE agents conducted an overnight raid at a Chicago apartment complex, and arrested 37 illegal aliens from several countries. The complex was targeted because it was frequented by members of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua. Two gang members were among those captured along with others with criminal records. But MSNBC’s Ali Velshi says that raid, and Donald Trump’s speech to U.S. Generals, later that day, will make September 30th be remembered as one of the darkest days in U.S. history.

Velshi just could not get over that illegals, many with criminal records, could be successfully rounded up in the middle of the night. He opened his Saturday edition of MSNBC’s Velshi by saying, “Quote, ‘we are under siege. We’re being invaded by our own military.’ End quote. Now you’d be forgiven for thinking those were words describing Syria or North Korea, but they came from a witness describing a scene unfolding in Chicago this week.” He was quoting someone named Darrell Ballard, who spoke to the ABC affiliate in Chicago about the ICE raid. Velshi went on to repeat witness claims that residents were separated into groups and led into vans. He informed his audience that,  “This came with a military style name. The Trump administration called it Operation Midway Blitz .” Oh my!

DHS: Federal Agents Attacked by Armed Leftists Near Chicago, ‘Rammed by Vehicles’– slaynews.com

Federal immigration officers came under violent attack from armed leftists in suburban Chicago, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said on X that agents in Broadview were “rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars” during routine patrols on Saturday.

Unable to move, the agents exited their vehicles and encountered one of the drivers armed with a semi-automatic weapon.

“Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots,” McLaughlin said.

The armed driver was identified in a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intelligence bulletin just last week for allegedly doxxing agents online and inciting violence against them.

The driver was wounded and transported to a hospital.

McLaughlin stressed that no federal officers were seriously injured in the ambush.

Portland police department smears Post Millennial journalist who was assaulted by Antifa, suggests she invited violence on herself | The Post Millennial– thepostmillennial.com

The Portland Police Bureau has a problem with effective policing and the only way they think they can solve it is by lying. The Post Millennial staff reporter Katie Daviscourt has been repeatedly assaulted and threatened. She was assaulted on Sept. 30  for reporting on Antifa and protest activity outside the ICE facility in Portland, Ore. since June. Yet in their documentation of the violence, Sgt. Andrew Braun claimed that Daviscourt was a “counter-protester,” suggesting she was responsible for the violence committed against her. This is defamatory, false and is an unacceptable attack on the professionalism of one of our reporters.

Daviscourt has been diligently reporting on the protest and riot activity for months, recording her work both in The Post Millennial and on X for all the world to see while local legacy media stayed away for safety reasons. On Sept. 30, the world saw another report from Daviscourt, but this one ended with a concussion and an eye hemorrhage. She was reporting outside the facility when a woman swung a flagpole at her, bashing her in the face.

The woman was then whisked away to an Antifa safe house, but Daviscourt followed, bringing a Portland police officer with her. That officer caught up with the assailant, who balked at being questioned at all. The masked suspect claimed to be under age, and the officer simply let her go. Daviscourt followed, at her own peril.

On Thursday, the United Kingdom experienced a tragic terror attack when 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie allegedly rammed his truck into a crowd at a Manchester synagogue before getting out and stabbing Jewish congregants. Al-Shamie is of Syrian descent and became a British citizen in 2006 after entering the country as a young child, according to Fox News.

The attack — which occurred on the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur — left two people dead and three injured. As later acknowledged by Manchester Police, however, at least one death and one injury were caused by gunfire from law enforcement.

U.K. authorities have “arrested three other people in connection with the attack: two men in their 30s and one woman in her 60s,” according to the Washington Examiner.

How U.S.-Gulf AI Deals Project Power– warontherocks.com

Excerpt:

The great-power contest is not unfolding on battlefields or carrier decks, but inside data halls cooled by air conditioning, far from America’s shores. Rows of servers and racks of graphics processing units now carry as much strategic weight as military bases once did. Each deal for cloud access or advanced chips is a form of statecraft, binding partners into one camp’s technology ecosystem while locking out the other.

The United States is using AI infrastructure — data centers, cloud controls, and compute access — as a tool of power projection in the Arabian Gulf. By tying investment and capacity to governance safeguards, Washington can align regional partners with its security preferences, crowd out Chinese platforms, and set the rules for how AI is built and deployed. But the leverage is fragile. Without resilience and enforceable compliance, these arrangements risk becoming single points of failure or, worse, conduits for adversaries.

To make this new form of statecraft durable, U.S. policymakers should establish standard deal architectures with Gulf partners that combine hard technical safeguards, strict governance requirements, and built-in contingency plans. That means binding model weights to secure enclaves, tracking accelerators and workloads, embedding snapback clauses for violations, and pairing technical assurances with human rights standards. Done right, this approach can turn American-backed AI infrastructure into a lasting source of influence — quiet, scalable, and harder to dislodge than a forward operating base.

Venezuelan El Presidente and de facto dictator Nicolás Maduro has had his hands full with all the Venezuelan drug-carrying speedboats suddenly being converted to flying spare parts and their crews being turned into low-grade fish food, courtesy of the United States War Department. But now he is having a bad case of the smuggler’s blues, as the American FBI has taken down a huge money-laundering operation tied to the dictator through his kids.

El Presidente is no doubt feeling maladjusted over all this.

The FBI says two men have been indicted in connection with an alleged money-laundering scheme tied to Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro’s children.

The indictments come after a years-long investigation that dates back to 2019 when the FBI’s Miami Field Office launched the probe based on indications that Arick Komarczyk opened U.S. bank accounts for Maduro’s children and their U.S.-based associates. Suspicious Activity Reports allegedly showed that Komarczyk received wire transfers from individuals and businesses in Venezuela, according to the FBI.

An undercover operation in 2022 revealed that Komarczyk and his associate, Irazmar Carbajal, agreed to move $100,000 of what the FBI believed to be sanctioned money belonging to members of Venezuela’s government. The FBI said the men moved about $25,000 into the U.S.

The bureau noted that when confronted about the situation, Kormarczyk was not alarmed, rather he called it “sexy business.”

  1. A Feminist Approach to AI in Sub-Saharan Africa • Stimson Center– www.stimson.org

    Excerpt:

Across Africa, AI is being harnessed to achieve positive impacts for marginalized communities. However, while AI can be used for good, some fear it could further marginalize and harm those it is intended to empower. Despite emphasis from both public and private sectors on equality and equity, uncertainty around policy-enabling environments, skills, and resources still presents a bottleneck for building inclusive AI. Though there are promising femtech solutions aimed at addressing specific gender concerns, the question of addressing needs and wants from a feminist approach in AI lingers.

Gender is often still an afterthought when it comes to policy implementation and practice, but there are many initiatives, charters, and agreements in Africa that support equality and aim to eliminate violence against women, combat the disproportionate effect of poverty on women, and support women’s participation in the political and economic spheres. For example, Agenda 2063 promotes gender equality and an engaged, empowered youth. The African Union strategy on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) 2018-2028 also aims to strengthen women’s agency in Africa and ensure that women’s voices are amplified and their concerns are fully addressed. The African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa similarly requires member states to tackle “all forms of discrimination against women through appropriate legislative measures.”

In Africa, there is a strong normative framework on gender equality and women’s and girls’ rights, and correspondingly, there are some civil or governmental initiatives that support women in national digital transformation policies. In Rwanda, for example, women have become increasingly influential in building national plans for artificial intelligence, and in Kenya, women have impacted the national plan for data uses. However, Africa is still facing challenges in integrating AI and policy. The Oxford AI Worldwide Readiness Index exemplifies the gap between the United States, ranked as first, and Mauritius, considered the African flagship country in AI policy, ranked 69th. There are only four African countries – Mauritius, South Africa, Rwanda, and Egypt – whose scores were higher than the global average of 47.59.

Policy efforts across the continent are increasing but still limited. In mid-2021, Egypt launched its national AI strategy, christened “Artificial Intelligence for Development and Prosperity,” making clear the country’s ambitious goals for development and economic growth. Senegal followed suit in 2023 with a strategy of its own, also focused on economic development. On April 20, 2023, Rwanda released its “National AI Policy for Responsible AI Adoption,” which emphasizes AI for sustainable development. In 2024, Kenya published its draft national AI strategy with goals including social inclusion, ethics, and equity in AI.

‘WHY IS THIS APPROPRIATE?’: A federal judge appointed by President Donald Trump during his first term was aghast when she found out on Sunday that Trump was circumventing her orders not to deploy federalized troops to Portland, a city Trump said is “burning to the ground,” a claim the judge dismissed as “untethered to the facts.”

The Trump administration sought to sidestep the judge’s temporary restraining order against mobilizing the Oregon National Guard against the wishes of the state’s governor by sending in troops already under federal control in California. Both states went back to court and won a second TRO.

“How could bringing in federalized National Guard from California not be in direct contravention to the temporary restraining order I issued yesterday?” U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut said during a hastily called evening telephone hearing last night, as reported by the Associated Press. “Aren’t defendants simply circumventing my order?” she said later. “Why is this appropriate?”

“Small protests have been going on outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility since Trump’s second term began in January. There have been occasional flare-ups, including in June, but for weeks nightly demonstrations attracted only a few dozen people,” the AP reported. “Local officials have pointed out that the protest occupies one city block far from the downtown in a city that covers 145 square miles. They also say many of his claims and social media posts appear to rely on images from 2020, when unrest that grew out of the Black Lives Matter protests roiled the city for several months.”

He added: “We’re so good at it that there are no boats. In fact, even fishing boats – nobody wants to go into the water anymore. Sorry to tell you that. We just can’t find any.” Trump warned that the crackdown may extend to land routes if traffickers are forced to shift. “They’re not coming in by sea any more, so now we’ll have to start looking at the land, because they’ll be forced to go by land. And let me tell you right now, that’s not going to work out well for them either,” he said.Last month, the US military launched an extensive attack. The US navy carried out an airstrike in early September in the southern Caribbean on a boat from Venezuela, killing all 11 people on board. Trump released a video of the strike.US officials say at least 21 people have been killed in the strikes so far. The White House claims that at least four boats have been destroyed, preventing drugs from reaching the United States. Video released by the Pentagon showed an open speedboat suddenly engulfed in smoke and flames.Trump also mentioned another strike “last night,” although the last publicly announced Pentagon operation was on Friday, when four unidentified people described as “narco-terrorists” were killed on a small boat off Venezuela.

Chicago Cops Told Not to Respond When Federal Agents Were Surrounded – RedState– redstate.com

We have reached a very dangerous level of political hackery. Dangerous, vitriolic rhetoric has been used by local political operatives in Illinois, and it has now taken a turn for the worse.

Bill Melugin and other sources are reporting that on October 4th, a CPD “Chief of Patrol” instructed his police officers not to respond when ICE/Border Patrol asked for help when they were under attack following a shooting. This type of order virtually never comes from the local precinct cops; that order comes from local politicians, either the mayor or possibly the governor would have given such an order.

And here is the audio of a dispatch operator telling cops not to respond.

The Chief of Patrol who ordered the standdown is Jon Hein. It happened on Saturday.

One of the highest-ranking officers in the Chicago Police Department barred city cops from responding to calls for help from federal agents who reported being surrounded by a large crowd in Brighton Park on Saturday, according to CPD radio transmissions.

CPD Chief of Patrol Jon Hein ordered city officers to leave the area as tensions escalated following the shooting of a woman by Border Patrol agents, supervisors said in recorded radio traffic.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Sunday that the release of hostages from Gaza is the “most emergent and immediate phase” of the peace plan that President Trump outlined last week, which negotiators are set to discuss this week in Cairo.

“Let’s discuss through the mediators the logistics and the mechanics behind how that happens, and that has to happen very quickly. That cannot drag on,” Rubio said on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.”

On Friday, Hamas agreed to parts of the peace proposal, including the release of all the Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that he has sent a delegation to Egypt “to finalize technical details,” outlining a goal to limit the negotiations to “a time frame of a few days.”

U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, are expected to represent the U.S. at talks in Egypt on Monday. Rubio said conversations are underway ahead of Monday’s meeting in Egypt, and he outlined that the talks should center on the logistics behind the release of the hostages.

On Sept. 25, the Donald Trump administration in the United States again extended the TikTok ban-or-divest law, possibly for the last time. The latest extension to the law, which was passed in 2024 by the Joe Biden administration, includes a deal to transfer TikTok to American owners as a condition required to avoid a ban.

This raises the question on the validity of the warnings about the app as a tool of Chinese influence and whether American ownership will help.

Canada should be watching closely, because anxieties about foreign manipulation and social media exist north of the border, too. These range from bans on TikTok and concerns about Beijing-linked surveillance to efforts like Bill C-18 aimed at safeguarding domestic news sources.

What happens in the Canadian information environment has always been shaped by the U.S., a dependence that is even more precarious now that American politics has turned hostile to Canada.

Despite Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears’ considerable deficit in campaign contributions (largely due to unending news reports of past polls showing the GOP candidate for Virginia governor trailing by double-digits), the race is now within the margin of error.

Acknowledging that polls are only as accurate as the pollsters’ guess on demographic enthusiasm and the honest responses from those people being called, the most recent Virginia poll shows the same thing as New Jersey’s gubernatorial poll that we reported on last week. In the Garden State, Democrat candidate Mikie Sherrill had lost her 20 percentage point lead and was tied with Republican Jack Ciattarelli.

The Virginia poll, conducted Sept. 26-28, has Democrat gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger still ahead, but by 3%, 48%-45%, against Earle-Sears—within the margin of polling error.

For comparison, in September 2021 during the last Virginia governor’s race, Nexstar/Emerson had former Democrat Gov. Terry McAuliffe ahead 49%-45% against the ultimate winner, Republican Glenn Youngkin. A Monmouth University poll that same month showed similar results, with McAuliffe leading 48%-43%.

Donald Trump is up and truthing as the White House presses on with seizing the opportunity provided by the shutdown to axe federal jobs and Democratic spending priorities. “I can’t believe the Radical Left Democrats gave me this unprecedented opportunity,” Trump writes this morning.

He said he has a meeting today with Russell Vought, “of Project 2025 fame” who is now the head of the office for management and budget, “to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut, and whether or not those cuts will be temporary or permanent”.

Vought was central to the Project 2025 blueprint and has been on a years-long quest to dismantle the federal workforce and consolidate power for the president. Since Trump took office in January, he has worked alongside the so-called “department of government efficiency” to slash through the federal government.

As we reported yesterday – day one of the shutdown – he’s already started slashing blue state infrastructure spending, cancelling $8bn in climate-related funding to 16 blue states and freezing $18bn for two huge New York City construction projects.

Here’s the post:

Trump tells Republicans to ‘clear out dead wood, waste, and fraud’

As congressional Democrats hold out for healthcare subsidies, the Trump administration has repeatedly stated that federal workers will face layoffs while the government is shut down.

Late last night, president Donald Trump posted on Truth Social:

Republicans must use this opportunity of Democrat forced closure to clear out dead wood, waste, and fraud. Billions of Dollars can be saved. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Democrats hold firm on healthcare demands as US government remains shut

Hello and welcome to the US politics live blog. We will be bringing you all the latest news lines over the next few hours.

We start with news that a vote to end the government shutdown hours after it began failed on Wednesday, as Democrats in the Senate held firm to the party’s demands to fund healthcare subsidies that president Donald Trump and Republicans refuse to extend.

The tally showed cracks in the Democrats’ resolve, but the outcome also left no breakthrough, AP reported. Blame was being cast on all sides on the first day of the shutdown.

The White House and Congress failed to strike an agreement to keep programs and services open, throwing the country into a new cycle of uncertainty.

At the heart of the issue are tax credits that have made health insurance through the Affordable Care Act more affordable for millions of people since the coronavirus pandemic.

The credits are set to expire at the end of the year if Congress doesn’t extend them, which would more than double what subsidized enrollees currently pay for health insurance premiums, according to analysis.

Meanwhile, as the Trump administration insists it is serious about negotiating an end to the government shutdown, a pair of racist deepfake videos mocking Democratic leaders played on a loop in the White House briefing room for hours on Wednesday.

The videos, posted by Trump on his social media platform on Monday, use fabricated audio to make it seem as if the Senate minority leader, Chuck Schumer, called Democrats “woke pieces of shit”, and showed the House minority leader, Hakeem Jeffries, with a fake mustache and sombrero.

JD Vance, the US vice-president, made light of the tactic during a rare appearance in the briefing room. “I think it’s funny. The president’s joking and we’re having a good time. You can negotiate in good faith while also making a little bit of fun at some of the absurdities of the Democrats’ positions, and even poking some fun at the absurdity of themselves.

“I’ll tell Hakeem Jeffries right now, I make the solemn promise to you that if you help us reopen the government, the sombrero memes will stop. I’ve talked to the president of the United States about that.”

Jeffries has denounced the memes as racist. Vance retorted: “I honestly don’t even know what that means. Like, is he a Mexican American that is offended by having a sombrero meme?”

In other developments:

  • JD Vance, the vice-president, used false claims to blame Democrats for the government shutdown as the White House warned that worker layoffs were imminent.

  • Donald Trump quietly signed an executive order on Monday in which he promised that the United States will defend the nation of Qatar by treating “any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure” of the energy-rich Persian Gulf monarchy “as a threat to the peace and security of the United States”.

  • Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, the top Democrats in the House of Representatives and Senate, respectively, and both New Yorkers, accused the Trump administration of retaliating against their constituents by putting billions of dollars to revamp transportation infrastructure on hold.

  • Oregon’s governor, Tina Kotek, said in a statement on Wednesday that “Donald Trump’s unlawful federalization of members of the Oregon National Guard could cost taxpayers up to $10m”.

  • The Trump administration said that it was putting a hold on roughly $18bn to fund a new rail tunnel beneath the Hudson River between New York City and New Jersey and the city’s expanded Second Avenue subway project – because of the government shutdown.

  • Donald Trump once again shared misinformation about Portland, Oregon, on social media on Wednesday, when he announced that the national guard troops he called up in response to a small protest outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) office in the otherwise tranquil city are “now in place”.

  • Lisa Cook, the US Federal Reserve governor, will keep her job for now, despite Donald Trump’s extraordinary bid to remove her from the central bank’s board with immediate effect.
