The latest development is that SPLC has filed a Motion to Dismiss the Indictment for Vindictive Prosecution, focused very heavily on public statements from Trump and others in his administration both before and after the indictment.

President Trump’s triumphant statement on April 24, 2026, three days after an indictment was unsealed against the Southern Poverty Law Center (“the SPLC”), was the latest manifestation of a top-down, retributive campaign in which he directed his Justice Department to go after those individuals and groups he deemed his political enemies, including the SPLC.
To carry out the President’s directive, others in the Administration targeted the SPLC, which now faces criminal charges for exercising its First Amendment right to identify, report on, and criticize extremist hate groups. The Administration has falsely accused the SPLC of being “anti-Christian,” of aiding the Biden Administration’s “weaponization” of the Department of Justice, of participating in political violence, and, most recently, of helping to “rig” the 2020 election against President Donald Trump. These examples of this Administration’s animus over the past year culminated in the criminal charges against the SPLC—an indictment premised on conclusory accusations but devoid of provable facts or a proper statement of the law….
Then, after praising the indictment his Justice Department handed him, President Trump went further. He publicly proclaimed the improper political motive behind the case, branding the SPLC a “Democrat Hoax, along with Act Blue and many others” and claimed that when the allegations are proven “the 2020 Presidential Election should be permanently wiped from the books and be of no further force or effect!” 2 President Trump doubled down on these farcical claims on a nationally televised 60 Minutes interview a few days later. He falsely proclaimed that the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia “was all funded by the Southern [Poverty] Law [Center].”3 President Trump asserted that the SPLC had funded this “total fake” event “to make me look bad.”4 The SPLC’s efforts, according to the President, were “a part of the rigging of the [2020] election.”5

According to the indictment, a 55-year-old organization that built a brand on hunting hate has actually been bankrolling it. The temptation for conservative Christians will be to read that as simple vindication, and to a degree, it is. But that reading is too small. The SPLC did not collapse into alleged fraud because it found some exotic evil; it collapsed because it surrendered to an ordinary one. Fear is easier to sell than hope, and an enemy keeps the donations coming. This indictment is as much a mirror as a verdict, and the Church should be the first to look into it.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is starting to dismantle the legal industrial complex pushing for mass migration by cracking down on immigration lawyers who file fraudulent asylum claims.
DHS directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Tuesday to develop policies to go after the attorneys who aid and abet illegals obtaining legal entry and status in the United States fraudulently, under a law already establishing penalties for document fraud. DHS said that ICE attorneys will have “greater authority to enforce the law.”
“For many years, millions of illegal aliens have committed fraud in our immigration system. No place is this more rampant than in immigration court,” DHS General Counsel James Percival said. “Protection claims like asylum are intended to cover unique and narrow circumstances, but it is standard practice for immigration attorneys representing illegal aliens to assert that virtually every illegal alien is going to be persecuted or tortured in his or her home country.”
The move is in line with other Trump administration attempts to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for certain groups, but will ostensibly make it more difficult for migrants to successfully gain entry into the United States using pro-immigration lawyers coaching them on how to make false claims. Under such guidance, aliens often assert that their lives are at risk in their home country, when they are nothing more than economic migrants looking to take American jobs and access welfare programs.

Wisconsin voters to decide constitutional amendment banning DEI discrimination
A Wisconsin ballot initiative this fall would amend the state constitution to ban discriminatory Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives at government entities, including public universities.
Under Assembly Joint Resolution 102, government entities would be prohibited from “discriminating against, or granting preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, public contracting, or public administration.”
Before Wisconsin legislators can send a resolution to voters, the resolution must receive approval in two legislative years. Lawmakers first approved the proposed amendment during the 2023–24 session, then gave it second approval this January, sending it to voters this fall.

A petition initiative in Oregon that supporters are seeking to have put on the November ballot would make it illegal to kill or injure animals in the state, a move that opponents say would effectively ban hunting and fishing in the state.

The alternative universe that the “journalists” at The New York Times and The Washington Post write about is filled with stories about an ever-widening rift in the MAGA movement. Accoding to the fiction, people on the right are becoming disenchanted with President Trump. I keep looking for signs of it in the real world and have not yet been able to find any.
In fact, it looks like Trump’s influence in the Republican Party is stronger than ever. GOP candidates that the president endorsed have been cleaning up in recent primaries and runoff elections. Last week we discussed the Democrats’ excitement about Texas Senate candidate James Talarico. Some polling showed Talarico looking good against Republicans Senator John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who were facing each other in a runoff.

An Ethiopian immigrant in Canada pleaded guilty to several “offences that included assaulting a teenager and smearing fecal matter over her face and mouth,” as well as “sexual assault, assault, and committing an indecent act,” according to the National Post. Because he has been unemployed for years, the judge deemed it an ‘undue hardship’ if he paid the fines imposed by law.
If you are surprised by this soft sentence, you are not paying attention. Clearly, the justice system for our northern neighbors is not what you would call “just.”
The crimes are worse than you could have ever imagined.

The judge waived the victim fine surcharge, noting that Zewdu has been unemployed for years and the fine “would be an undue hardship.” The surcharge is generally 15 per cent where a fine has been levied, or between $100 and $200 for each offence.
Court documents released this week outline the troubling nature of the offences. In one, which took place on June 27, 2025, a 17-year-old was walking in a residential area near a SkyTrain station when Zewdu approached her from behind and grabbed her.
“He then smeared fecal matter over her face and mouth while pushing and jamming feces into her face and mouth,” court records state. “Mr. Zewdu was laughing as he held out his phone, causing the victim to believe that Mr. Zewdu was recording the assault. A subsequent search of his phone showed that this was not the case.”

The Minneapolis family members who have been federally indicted for an alleged attack on Turning Point USA “Frontlines” reporter Savanah Hernandez have been granted temporary restraining orders against the reporter, Hernandez announced on Tuesday.
All three defendants, Chris, DeYanna, and Paige Ostroushko, alleged to the court that they are the victims of “harassment” and “assault” from Hernandez, who was mob assaulted by the defendants while reporting outside the Whipple Federal Building in April. Hernandez, who sustained physical injuries and a concussion, said the Ostroushkos “extensively lied” about her, as well as the events that unfolded that day, in order to receive emergency restraining orders.
Additionally, the defendants petitioned the court to impose a gag order on Hernandez, attempting to prevent the reporter from posting about the attack on social media, according to court filings. Court documents also show that the Ostroushkos are trying to get Hernandez, as well as her family, banned from the vicinity of the ICE facility and the Minnesota county in which they live. Hernandez has not been charged with a crime and is the victim in this case, as evidenced by ample video footage and indictments.
