Increasingly violent threats toward and harassment of public officials — from county clerks up to the president — are driving more and more of those figures out of their jobs, a particular concern among local election officials, who have struggled with attrition for years.
In the years since the 2020 election, roughly 50 percent of top local election officials across 11 western states have left their jobs since November 2020, according to a new report from Issue One, a bipartisan organization that tracks election issues and supports campaign finance reforms.

Major Democrat donor Brad Karp stepped down Wednesday from his role as chairman of Paul Weiss after newly released emails revealed close ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Included in the files was The 1953 Trust, a 32 page document outlining over 40 beneficiaries. The document refers to separate $5 million bequeathments to Edward Roed Larsen and Emma Roed Larsen, who appear to be her two children.

A California doctor is being sued by a Father in Texas for aiding and abetting the murder of his two unborn babies. The doctor is alleged to have mailed the murder pills to the mother’s now estranged husband, who pressured her to take the pills to kill the unborn children
The man, Jerry Rodriguez, is suing California Dr. Remy Coeytaux who allegedly illegally mailed the drug, mifepristone, to the mother’s now-estranged husband. The complaint reads, “Coeytaux directly committed murder under section 19.02(b)(1) because he ‘intentionally and knowingly caused the death’ of Mr. Rodriguez’s unborn child by delivering abortion pills that he knew would be used in an illegal self-managed abortion.”

A Texas father is suing a California doctor for alleging aiding and abetting the murder of two of his unborn babies by illegally mailing mifepristone to the estranged husband of the man’s girlfriend.
Jerry Rodriguez is the first Texan to take advantage of the Lone Star State’s new law, which permits residents to sue out-of-state mifepristone prescribers, manufacturers, and distributors, such as pharmacies, for “an amount of not less than $100,000” for each violation of the Texas’ ban on abortion drugs.
The Texas legislature designed the law, which passed in September and went into effect in December, to combat the influx of Democrat states shielding abortion drug traffickers who use radically expanded mail-order mifepristone allowances to illegally ship abortion pills to people in pro-life states. Enforcement of the statute is modeled after Texas’ successful 2021 heartbeat bill, which virtually eliminated abortion in the state by allowing anyone outside of the government to bring a civil action against anyone who performs or aids and abets ending a life in the womb.
In his suit, Rodriguez alleged California Dr. Remy Coeytaux illicitly mailed the mifepristone that ended his unborn babies’ lives on two separate occasions.
“Coeytaux directly committed murder under section 19.02(b)(1) because he ‘intentionally and knowingly caused the death’ of Mr. Rodriguez’s unborn child by delivering abortion pills that he knew would be used in an illegal self-managed abortion,” the complaint states.
The lawsuit also suggested the abortion drug manufacturers and distributors will also be named as defendants because they are “jointly and severally liable for the wrongful death of Mr. Rodriguez’s unborn child.”
Rodriguez and his girlfriend Kendal Garza first became pregnant in July 2024. The complaint claims Garza was “happy about the pregnancy and told Mr. Rodriguez that she planned to give birth.” Garza’s estranged husband, however, was allegedly displeased with this decision and reportedly used his information and his debit card to secure $150 worth of abortion pills from Coeytaux via Venmo.
Garza allegedly downed the pills in September 2024 after she was “pressured her to kill the baby with the drugs obtained from Coeytaux.”
Approximately 10 percent of women who ingest mifepristone reportedly suffer a serious adverse event such as hemorrhage or infection. Similarly, a majority of abortions, nearly 70 percent, are believed to be unwanted, coerced, or inconsistent with the mother’s values and desires. A slew of lawsuits suggest many women have suffered abuse, abortion pill poisonings, and coerced abortions due to mifepristone prescribers and distributors’ flouting of Texas’ and other pro-life states’ abortion pill bans.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved Mifeprex label warns that a mother whose pregnancy is further along than the recommended 10 weeks should not take mifepristone because her risk of complications is so high. Yet, the lawsuit states Garza was more than 10 weeks pregnant at the time she took the abortion drug.
By October 2024, Garza was pregnant by Rodriguez again. The lawsuit claims she was “again happy about the pregnancy and told Mr. Rodrigez that she planned to give birth to their child, a son.” Garza and Rodriguez even allegedly attended a doctor’s appointment where they saw their unborn baby, a son, via ultrasound.
By January, Garza used the pills her estranged husband bought to complete a “self-managed abortion even though she was nearly three months pregnant and even though Mr. Rodriguez pleaded with her not to do it.” The lawsuit states Garza allegedly “had to cut the baby boy’s umbilical cord and bury him.”
Rodriguez is not only seeking damages for the wrongful death of both of his children, but also asks the court to issue an injunction “to stop Coeytaux from distributing abortion-inducing drugs in violation of Texas law.” Rodriguez’s counsel was careful to note that Texas law requires the state to fend off any “revenge lawsuit” Coeytaux, with the backing of California, might file against the father.
Coeytaux, an affiliate of abortion drug dealer Aid Access, was one of several mifepristone named in cease and desist orders from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in August 2025. Paxton not only demanded the parties “immediately cease” their illegal abortion drug trafficking scheme, but threatened “further legal action, lawsuits seeking injunctive relief, and civil penalties of no less than $100,000 per violation under Texas law.”

After 5 years of having the “opportunity” to turn in their no-no guns and get paid in return, the time limit is running out. While the exact numbers are hard to find, the fact that the government has already extended the time limit three times tell you they’ve gotten themselves into an unenforceable situation, they lack the power to confiscate all the guns that haven’t been voluntarily turned in already.

Canadian Citizens Face Prison for Failing to Comply with ‘Voluntary’ Gun Buyback Scheme – slaynews.com
Hundreds of thousands of Canadian gun owners could face prison sentences if they refuse to surrender newly prohibited firearms under a federal “buyback” program that critics say amounts to forced confiscation disguised as “voluntary” compliance.
Since May 2020, the Canadian government has pursued what it calls an “assault-style firearms compensation program,” banning thousands of firearms and offering payment to owners who turn them in.
Gun owners who fail to comply by October 2026 could face up to five years in prison for illegal possession.
Gun rights advocates and several provincial governments argue the program will overwhelmingly impact law-abiding citizens while doing little to curb crime.
“We’re finding that they’re running into a lot of compliance issues,” said Blair Hagen, an executive with the National Firearms Association.
“They have no idea where [the guns are] or who has them.
“So it’s proving to be a very, very difficult situation for the government.”
Trudeau’s Order-in-Council Ban
The firearm ban was enacted through an order-in-council issued in May 2020 by then–Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a mechanism that allows sweeping regulatory changes without a parliamentary vote.
Under the policy, participation in the buyback is described as “voluntary,” but compliance with the ban is mandatory.
“While participating in the program is voluntary, compliance with the law is not,” the federal government states on its website.
Firearm owners must “safely dispose of or permanently deactivate” prohibited weapons or risk criminal liability.
The government has extended an amnesty for possession three times, with the current deadline set for October 30, 2026.
‘Voluntary’ in Name Only
Gun rights groups dispute the government’s framing.
“If the option is either turn them in or you’re going to jail, I would not consider that voluntary,” said Justin Davis, public affairs director for the National Rifle Association.
The federal government also does not guarantee compensation, stating only that owners “may receive compensation subject to availability of program funds.”
Carney Denies Confiscation
Globalist Prime Minister Mark Carney has repeatedly denied that the policy constitutes confiscation.
“This is not about confiscation,” Carney said during a podcast interview in September 2025.
“This is about voluntary return of firearms for compensation.”
Carney also claimed that the ban does not affect hunting rifles or sport-shooting firearms.
However, critics point out that the policy includes explicit carve-outs for Indigenous subsistence hunters, suggesting that commonly owned firearms are indeed affected.
Provinces Refuse to Enforce the Ban
Several provinces, including Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Yukon, have refused to assist federal authorities in enforcing the ban.
“We will have nothing to do with this program,” said Teri Bryant, Alberta’s chief firearms officer.
“We will not spend any Alberta taxpayer dollars on this program.”
As a result, federal authorities would be responsible for enforcement without local law enforcement support.
“If the feds want to try and enforce it, they are going to have to do it themselves,” Hagen said.
“The logistics get even more insurmountable and the price goes up.”
Program Yields Minimal Results
A six-week pilot run in fall 2025 reportedly recovered just 25 firearms, far below the government’s expectation of roughly 200.
Despite that outcome, officials declared the pilot a success.
Hagen said the lack of public participation reflects widespread resistance among lawful gun owners.
“There is a civil disarmament agenda in that bureaucracy,” he said.
“It started many years ago.”
Warnings for the United States
Gun rights advocates argue the Canadian model is a cautionary tale for the United States.
“There’s no criminal in the world who’s going to turn in their firearm for a few dollars,” Davis said.
“These policies disarm law-abiding citizens and create more soft targets.”
Gun confiscation schemes are already backed by top Democrats.
During her failed 2019 presidential campaign, former Vice President Kamala Harris openly supported a mandatory gun buyback.
“We have to have a buyback program, and I support a mandatory gun buyback program,” Harris said at the time.
Advocates note that Canada lacks constitutional protections comparable to the Second Amendment.
“You can ban firearms on paper,” Hagen said, “but actually making confiscation happen is another thing entirely.”
Whether Canada’s program collapses under its own cost and complexity, or is repealed by a future government, remains an open question.
However, laws such as this one are almost always a one-way street.

Every so often there’s a piece of content in The New York Times or a similar publication that’s meant to create suspicion but without saying exactly why, usually for the purpose of politicizing something mundane. The story this week about National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard being on site during an FBI operation in Atlanta is one of those pieces of content, but in this case, the reason for the manufactured suspicion is obvious.
The Times on Monday wrote that it was “unusual” for Gabbard to appear at an FBI field office following the agency’s seizure of 2020 ballots from an election center in the ever-so-seedy Fulton County. You know, the place where election officials just admitted to improperly certifying hundreds of thousands of ballots in violation of the election rules. “[H]er continued presence has raised eyebrows given that her role overseeing the nation’s intelligence agencies does not include on-site involvement in criminal investigative work,” the article, reported by a grand total of three people, said.
The Wall Street Journal’s crumbling credibility took another hit Monday with an “exclusive” hit piece on Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard that one agency official described as “one of the most disgusting cases of clickbait I have ever seen.”
DNI officials say the story, headlined, “Classified Whistleblower Complaint About Tulsi Gabbard Stalls Within Her Agency,” is a “nothingburger” on a “baseless complaint.”
“Here’s the truth: There was no wrongdoing by @DNIGabbard, a fact that WSJ conveniently buried 13 paragraphs down,” Gabbard’s Deputy Chief of Staff Alexa Henning wrote Monday on X. “Even the Biden-era IC IG [Intelligence Community Inspector General] came to this collusion the Whistleblower’s allegations against DNI Gabbard were not credible.”
President Donald Trump reportedly convinced Reps. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida and Tim Burchett of Tennessee to drop their demand that the SAVE Act be included in legislation to reopen the government.
The House voted Tuesday to end the government shutdown — 217 to 214 — with 21 Republicans voting against the package and 21 Democrats voting for it.
Luna and Burchett both voted against the legislation, but voted in favor of the rule that allowed it to be considered by the whole House.
Trump signed the measure Tuesday afternoon.
