MILWAUKEE — Anticipation around former President Donald Trump tapping Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his vice presidential nominee not only concerned the next four months before the 2024 election and the next four years, should he and Vance win in November.
But Trump’s decision on Monday, announced during the opening day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, could also define the GOP for the four or eight years after that should Vance become the party’s prohibitive favorite in 2028.
In tapping Vance, 39, the youngest vice president since eventual President Richard Nixon, Trump has provided his Make America Great Again movement and America First policy platform with an opportunity to continue after his second and last term, instead of picking a more centrist, compromise candidate as an appeal to more establishment Republicans.
Trump, a legacy-minded real estate mogul and marketing expert who rose to national prominence before The Apprentice TV series because of his branded buildings, has anointed an heir apparent in tapping Vance, according to Republican strategist Cesar Conda.
Moments before the former president was shot at, with one bullet grazing his ear, Trump declared to a crowd of rallygoers that his nomination would be a moment of unity for the party.
“The world will see a vibrant Republican Party that is bigger, stronger, more confident, and more united than ever before,” he said in Butler, Pennsylvania.
But Republicans were going into the convention, a four-day affair that begins on Monday in Milwaukee, with lingering divisions over the party’s official platform and a bitter primary that revealed a sizable rift among Republican voters.
President Joe Biden addressed Americans for the second time on Sunday evening, instructing voters how to feel and behave in the wake of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump on Saturday.
“We’re neighbors, we’re friends, coworkers, citizens,” he told his “fellow Americans,” saying that “we’re not enemies.” He went on to say “we must stand together,” saying it was time to “lower the temperature” and “take a step back.”
“Thankfully,” he said, “former Trump is not injured” [sic], he said, noting again, as he did this morning and last evening in a post, that they spoke on the phone. And he again offered condolences to the family of Corey Comperatore, who was killed by the would-be assassin’s bullet. Biden had no update on the investigation, saying that it was ongoing and that was still no information as to what the motivation of Thomas Matthew Cooks, the 20-year-old Pennsylvania gunman, was.
As fans of MSNBC woke up on Monday morning, many no doubt waiting to be delivered the hottest takes from Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, they were instead greeted by generic news desk coverage. That’s because executives at the network made the call to pull “Morning Joe” off the air in the wake of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. The reason why is telling.
According to CNN, which reported the development, this wasn’t a case of routine preemption. After all, “Morning Joe” has been left intact through essentially every other breaking news story since its inception. Instead, the decision came from a much darker place: MSNBC couldn’t trust that Joe, Mika, and its stable of lunatics wouldn’t compare Trump to Hitler again.

A person familiar with the matter told CNN that the decision was made to avoid a scenario in which one of the show’s stable of two dozen-plus guests might make an inappropriate comment on live television that could be used to assail the program and network as a whole. Given the breaking news nature of the story, the person said, it made more sense to continue airing rolling breaking news coverage in the fraught political moment.
Alex Berenson, author of the book, “Pandemia”, said the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump is the biggest security “failure since 9-11.”

According to a new report by NBC News, the Secret Service identified the rooftop next to Trump’s event in Butler, Pennsylvania as a security vulnerability just days before the rally.
The agents failed to secure the building, allowing a man with a rifle to climb onto the roof, position his scope, and fire several shots at President Trump.
A bullet grazed Trump’s right ear, while two rally attendees were wounded. One Trump supporter was fatally shot.
Biden’s FBI has announced that they believe the would-be assassin at former President Trump’s Pennsylvania rally on Saturday acted alone.
The statement comes despite the bureau’s inability to access data from the suspect’s cell phone, which has been sent to Quantico for further examination.
Kevin Rojek, FBI Special Agent in Charge Pittsburgh, said that the information currently available to the bureau suggests that there is no further public safety concern. However, he also noted that the investigation is still in its early stages, according to Fox News.
“We have not identified an ideology associated with the subject, but I want to remind everyone that we’re still very early in this investigation,” Rojek said during a press conference on Sunday.
After reports that the company had agreed to pleading guilty to conspiring to defraud the US government, Boeing is holding talks with the US Department of Defense (DoD) to determine how the move could impact its portfolio of defense contracts and future opportunities.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has issued subpoenas to three White House staffers he has identified as key people that are protecting a non-functioning Joe Biden from the public.
He stated “I am issuing subpoenas today for White House staff Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, and Ashley Williams to appear for depositions. The White House has shielded these three key aides from testifying about President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents and now we’ve learned through reporting these same aides are also seeking to cover up President Biden’s declining cognitive state inside the White House… it appears as though Tomasini has firsthand knowledge of the extent to which President Biden is personally carrying out the duties of his office and whether he is capable of doing so.”
The Chairman is being far more charitable than this writer would be in assuming that we are dealing with a declining cognitive state rather than a declined cognitive state, in terms of actual ability to perform the duties of President, since before he was elected. What we are seeing now is the failure by the best doctors in the world to medicate up a dying Biden enough to make him briefly semi-cognizant in ways that give the media marketers of the DNC-CCP, the mainstream media, some plausible deniability.
Now, even that is gone, and the rats are looking to leave a sinking ship, which isn’t losing the 2024 Presidential election (so long as they can take back the House majority), it’s getting Biden out fast before anyone goes beyond what Comer is asking. The Biden administration’s Department of Defense has made a ridiculous move, labeling pro-life groups as “terrorist organizations” during an anti-terrorism briefing at Fort Liberty’s Directorate of Emergency Services (formerly Fort Bragg) on Wednesday.
This deeply concerning slide from an anti-terrorism brief was first exposed by citizen journalist Sam Shoemate on X.

The presentation slide, which has since circulated widely on social media, lists these pro-life organizations that oppose “Roe[sic] v. Wade” under a headline reading “TERRORIST GROUPS.”
The presentation specifically focuses on organizations such as National Right to Life and Operation Rescue, both longstanding pillars of the pro-life movement.
These organizations are dedicated to peaceful advocacy against abortion, grounded in the belief that every life is valuable and worth protecting…
The slide also displayed a New York license plate bearing the text “IM4IT” and a design promoting the “Choose Life” message.
“They also included a screenshot of a license plate with “IM4IT,” which is a plate many Pro-Life citizens put on their car which implies normal citizens are terrorists if they display this plate,” Shoemate wrote.
“Keep in mind they’re not labeling them as extremist organizations (which would still be crazy), but as terrorist organizations. The military and Dept of Defense are insanely out of control. Service-members are being indoctrinated to view Pro-Life groups as the enemy,” Shoemate added.

A bill that would make it mandatory for all Federal elections to require Voter ID to assure each person voting was who they claim they are AND is a U.S. citizen passed the House by a vote of 221-198, with all Republicans voting for it and only 5 Democrats joining them.
The U.S. House of Representatives has passed legislation that would expand on and enforce proof-of-citizenship requirements in federal elections. President Biden has vowed to veto the legislation if it is passed in the Senate, however, while Democrats have slammed the bill as “racist” and “xenophobic.”
The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act passed through the House by a vote of 221-198 on Wednesday, with five Democrats voting in favor of the Republican-led bill.
If enacted, the legislation will require state election officials to ask about citizenship before providing voter registration forms. There is currently no requirement to provide proof of citizenship in order to receive federal voting forms. According to a recent report from the New York Post, this has led to non-citizens receiving voting forms in 49 states.
The SAVE Act would also allow state officials to accept a wide variety of documents that will make it easy for citizens to register to vote in federal elections, provide states with access to federal agency databases so they can remove noncitizens from voter rolls and confirm citizenship for individuals lacking proof of citizenship, and direct the Department of Homeland Security to determine whether to conduct removal proceedings if a noncitizen has been identified as having registered to vote in federal elections.
Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) failed to see her measure, an Inherent Contempt resolution against U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, pass, it was voted down with 204 voting yes and 210 voting no. 12 Republicans were absent for the vote and 4 actually voted against it.
The House voted to reject a resolution that would have held Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland in “inherent contempt” and would have fined him $10,000 per day if he did not comply with a Congressional subpoena. Congress demanded that he release audio recordings of Joe Biden’s interviews with Special Counsel Robert Hur, which were part of the investigation into Biden’s illegal retaining of classified documents after leaving the vice presidency.
The resolution, brought by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), was met with a 204 to 210 vote. While 204 Republicans voted for the motion, another four voted against and 12 did not vote at all. The motion had been brought forward originally by Luna as well as Reps. Dan Crenshaw, Rich McCormick, Mark Alford, and Tim Burchett.
By a vote of 205-215, a bill that would have funded the activity of the U.S. House failed to pass. The bill failed due to 10 Republicans defecting and joining nearly all the Democrats that voted against the bill. The move leaves the GOP in a fix regarding how it can go forward with some of its investigations.
The House failed to pass its annual spending bill to fund the Legislative branch, throwing a wrench into GOP leaders’ ambitious schedule to pass all 12 appropriations bills by the end of July.
Lawmakers voted 205-213 for the bill, falling short of the simple majority threshold needed to advance the measure. The legislation failed after 10 Republicans joined nearly all Democrats in rejecting the bill over disagreements with of its provisions.
The Republicans who voted against the bill include Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Eli Crane (R-AZ), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Bob Good (R-VA), Debbie Lesko (R-AZ), Ralph Norman (R-SC), Matt Rosendale (R-MT), and Keith Self (R-TX).

In a surprising twist, the demographic once firmly considered to be in the Democrat Party’s camp has now gravitated to the right. According to new polling, the youth are no longer ridin’ with Biden, to the point where more of them are favoring voting in Republicans than Democrats.
As reported by Newsweek, the National Public Opinion Reference Survey (NPORS) published by Pew Research found that people under 30 are abandoning the Democrat Party and have given Republicans a very slim lead in their demographic:
The NPORS found that, among all respondents, 47 percent said they were Republican or leaned Republican, while 46 percent said they were Democrats or leaned toward the Democrats.
The poll was conducted from February 1 to June 10 among 5,626 U.S. adults.
Analysts were quick to point to the detailed figures regarding party affiliation among young people.
“By subgroup, the headline is age,” The New York Times’ chief political analyst Nate Cohn wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-AR) has been working behind the scenes to “encourage” House Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) to not introduce the nuclear option on Merrick Garland, to pass what is called “Inherent Contempt.” The Inherent Contempt filing would force the Department of Justice to arrest Merrick Garland and imprison him until he produced the product requested by the House subpoena he continues to defy.
Luna said, “Last week, I was going to bring the vote forward. And then, after speaking to the Speaker, he said, ‘Look, I will support a resolution that brings a $10,000 a day fine to be personally paid by Garland for every day that he ignores a subpoena.’ And then ultimately, that’s a really incredible accountability mechanism, because what we’re finding right now is that people have not only ignored subpoenas but also, remember, Greg, there are people that have gone to jail.”
The news that Mike Johnson has been behind the scenes attempting to soften the blow for the DNC-CCP is of little surprise to this writer after what we have witnessed with his time as Speaker so far. Johnson is living on one of three imaginary worlds, first, he could be a man who cannot stand facing direct confrontation based on principles, second, he could be unable to see how far from American rule of law the Democrat Party has become, making them an untrustworthy dance partner in any political song, or third, he’s willing to be a vassal, a token opposition vassal, in the DNC-CCP empire than risk losing it all standing up for the republic.
Politico Congress reporter Olivia Beavers reported on Tuesday that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is urging Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) to delay introducing her inherent contempt resolution against Attorney General Merrick Garland, which is planned for today, Wednesday.
A source present at the GOP conference reported that Speaker Johnson is encountering tough resistance, as Rep. Luna remains determined to move forward with her resolution.
“This comes after she told the conference at the mics that she’d bring up contempt and it will be on the floor Wednesday. She told members that she amended it so it’s not arresting him but fining him,” Beavers wrote.
A Cook Political Report shows that the freefall President Joe Biden was in before the debate is only accelerating post-debate, as most of the battleground state are leaning Trump, with only three now in toss-up status. This follows news that both New Jersey and New York State are now considered contestable, though they still mostly lead Biden (with one New Jersey poll showing Trump slightly ahead).
For months now, analysts have considered the 2024 presidential election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden a toss-up because national polling has generally shown the race to be within a couple of points. As it stands right now, Trump has a 3.3-point lead in the RealClearPolitics national average.
The Electoral College, however, is a different story. While Trump generally had the lead in the battleground states, his lead was sometimes razor-thin. “The notion that the presidential [race] is a Toss Up was a stretch even before the debate,” Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report wrote in a post on X/Twitter. “Today, Trump has a clear advantage over Biden and a much more plausible path to 270 Electoral votes.”
Apparently, a bill that would create a much stiffer penalty for child sex trafficking is being challenged by LGBTQ activists who claim the bill would unduly target and harm that community. The bill is being proposed in California
One would think that legislation aimed at protecting children from being sex trafficked would be a no-brainer. Unfortunately, this is not the case for some in California who opposed a law that would increase penalties for those who solicit minors for sex.
Currently, this offense is classified as a misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of up to one year in jail or a minimum of two days with a $10,000 fine. The new law would upgrade the offense to a felony that would impose a sentence of up to four years in prison with a $25,000 fine.
At a hearing, several LGBTQ activists voiced their opposition to the measure, arguing that it would somehow target members of the LGBTQ community and racial minorities.
The bipartisan measure, SB1414, would make it a felony offense for an adult to solicit or pay for sex with a minor. Amendments to the measure require that those accused of soliciting sex with minors aged 16 or 17 can only be charged with the increased penalty if the minor has been a victim of sex trafficking.
Several activists in attendance at the hearing asked committee members to oppose the bill due to the way it allegedly harms “marginalized communities.”
“I’d like to acknowledge the survivors [of sex trafficking] here today and name that we all have the shared goal of protecting children from harm,” Isabella Borgeson from the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights said. “We are concerned that the harsher penalties contained in this bill will disproportionately impact marginalized communities, particularly Black and brown individuals who already bear the brunt of systemic biases within our criminal justice system.”

July 9 (UPI) — Two bodyguards for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor shot and injured a suspected carjacker last week outside of her home in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Marshals Office announced Tuesday.
“The Deputy U.S. Marshals involved in the shooting incident were part of the unit protecting the residences of U.S. Supreme Court justices. As a general practice, the U.S. Marshals don’t discuss specifics of protective details,” the U.S. Marshals Office said in a statement.

The federal agents were parked outside of Sotomayor’s home at around 1:15 a.m. on Friday, when they said Kentrell Flowers walked up to one of their cars and pulled out a gun.
Both agents fired several shots at Flowers, who was hit in the mouth. The 18-year-old was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and arrested.
Metropolitan Police detectives said they found a semi-automatic handgun at the scene. Flowers was charged with armed carjacking, carrying a pistol without a license and possession of a large capacity magazine.
Authorities have not accused the teen of intentionally targeting Sotomayor or her security. The justice was not at home at the time of the carjacking.
The incident outside of Sotomayor’s home is not the first time federal agents or justices have been targeted.
Last year, following the leaked draft majority opinion on Roe vs. Wade, a man was arrested near Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh‘s home. Nicholas John Roske, 26, was charged with attempted murder after he was found armed with a gun and a knife, and told officials he wanted to kill the conservative justice.
Last November, Secret Service agents assigned to President Joe Biden‘s granddaughter, Naomi Biden, opened fire on a group of people trying to break into an unmarked Secret Service car parked in her Georgetown neighborhood.
And in January, former Trump administration official Mike Gill was killed by a carjacker as he sat in his car on K Street in northwest Washington, D.C.
President Joe Biden appears committed to blocking the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would mandate proof of American citizenship for voter registration in federal elections.
The SAVE Act, introduced by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and co-sponsored by over 100 House Republicans, proposes that state election officials must ensure voter registration applicants provide proof of American citizenship before being added to the national voter rolls.
“Federal law has been interpreted to prohibit states from checking to see if you’re a citizen even though, technically, the law says you must be a citizen,” Rep. Chip Roy said.

As Trump prepares for a rematch against President Joe Biden, the new poll from the Associated Press (AP) shows that Americans are more concerned about the Democrats’ weaponization of government.
The AP poll shows that Americans are against jailing Trump.
However, the majority of respondents do approve of Hunter Biden serving prison time for felony gun crimes.
Biden and the Democrats have relentlessly attacked Trump as a “convicted felon” since he became the first U.S. president to be found guilty of a crime in May.
As the Republican-controlled House is expected to take up a bill Wednesday aimed at making sure only U.S. citizens vote in federal elections, President Joe Biden is signaling he would kill the measure should it miraculously survive the Democrat-led Senate. Biden isn’t likely to need the veto pen.
Democrats will, however, be forced to explain why they oppose the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which requires documentary proof of citizenship to vote for president and members of Congress.
And while they have gotten plenty of cover from corporate media in asserting that foreign nationals — including illegal aliens — are rarely ever caught voting in federal elections, such explanations may not sit well with U.S. voters who overwhelmingly support prohibitions on noncitizens voting in federal elections. Most Americans, too, according to polls, are deeply concerned about the tsunami of illegal immigrants that has swamped U.S. communities on Biden’s watch. Exactly why the Biden administration has kept the border door wide open isn’t lost on anyone who has been paying attention for the past three and a half years.
Joe Biden and the Democrats (as well as their media lapdogs) keep trying to gaslight us all into thinking he is “fixing” the economy, but the truth is that the U.S. misery index has soared over his horrid four years in office.
The misery index was lower under Trump than it had been for a long time, but under Biden it has risen to new heights (or depths, if you will).
The only year it was up during Trump’s term was in 2020 when the scamdemic hit the nation. And then it was at 9.35. But before that, it was well under seven. and the lowest was the 5.44 seen in 2019. This was evidence that what Trump was doing was reversing the mess Obama had made.
New York has essentially been a blue state for the past two decades, however in recent weeks it has become clear that this election season, it is in play for Republicans. Four years after Joe Biden bested Donald Trump there by 23 points in polling, polls have shown that the gap is narrowing following Biden’s miserable debate performanc.
Many Democratic allies of the president in the state have voiced their concerns about the possibility their party may lose ground. Few, however, have called on Biden to step down, with the most prominent politicians making it clear they still plan on backing him come November.
As Politico reports, a number of Democratic Party officials past and present have called on Biden to accept that New York is not as secure as it was during the last election, and spend more of his time and money there. While Biden was recently in the Hamptons for a private fundraiser, he has been urged to try and connect with everyday voters, as Trump did when he held a massive rally in the Bronx. On the night Trump attended a wake for a fallen NYPD officer, Biden partied at a tony, celeb-studded fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall.
Billionaire and top Democrat donor Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, has been revealed to be funding a lawsuit to silence election reporting. Hoffman is the same Democrat donor who funded a “Russian-style” disinformation campaign in 2017, financially backed E. Jean Carroll’s suspicious lawsuit against Donald Trump, and visited pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s private island.
Hoffman is investing millions in Smartmatic, the electronic tabulator company suing Fox News and Newsmax for defamation following the 2020 election, according to The Washington Post. Hoffman said he intends to help keep the company afloat, as it has been pursuing expensive legal retribution against the outlets for their election reporting.
In a statement to The Washington Post, Hoffman claimed “Smartmatic became a target of the defamatory campaign to overturn [Trump’s] defeat.”
Fox and Newsmax hosted commentators who aired concerns that tabulators were not secure, were vulnerable to voter fraud, and had possibly changed Trump votes to Biden votes. Smartmatic alleges that hosting these discussions constituted defamation. Fox settled a suit with Dominion Voting last year over similar allegations.
New polling in Arizona’s hotly contested U.S. Senate race is showing a path to victory for firebrand conservative Kari Lake after she remained mired on the losing side of the numbers for months.
Lake, who ran for governor in 2022 with President Trump’s endorsement, now leads her likely Democratic rival, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) by two percent, according to an analysis conducted by The Hill. As the outlet notes, early polling gave a leg up to Gallego, but Lake for months has been hammering home the message that the uncontrollable flood of migrants across the state’s southern border is the result of his enabling of President Biden’s immigration policies. The state went for President Trump by 3.5% in 2016 and was narrowly carried by President Joe Biden by 0.3% four years later.
The Washington Examiner’sByron York argued that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “worried” former President Donald Trump will return to power, referencing Trump’s plan for peace between Ukraine and Russia.
Zelensky spoke at the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, during which he made the case for the United States to not wait until November to provide aid to his country in its war against Russia. York, the chief political correspondent for the Washington Examiner, explained that Zelensky’s plea not to wait until November stems from Trump’s plan to use aid as a negotiating tactic in creating peace between the warring nations.
Some Illinois residents could soon see their medical debt eliminated.
Gov. JB Pritzker signed a program into law to wipe away nearly $1 billion in medical debt. As Illinois Capitol Bureau correspondent Theodora Koulouvaris reports, advocates believe this is a step in the right direction.

They also serve as a roadmap for where our country, America, is headed as we too have embraced the culture of death that begins with abortion and spreads into every other part of our lives.
(LifeSiteNews) – The Delta Hospice Society (DHS), one of Canada’s only fully pro-life hospices, is actively seeking patients in the healthcare system so that one of its “Guardian Angels” can be assigned to them to ensure they are not “pressured” into state-sponsored euthanasia.
“Our launch of Guardian Angels is now at the point where we need clients,” DHS president Angelina Ireland told LifeSiteNews. “We are looking for patients inside the healthcare system who would like an Angel, those within hospital, hospice, long-term care, palliative care wards, or people with a chronic or terminal illness.”
Ireland said that the patients or their loved ones can “reach out to us and request one of our Angels.”
“They are ‘friendly visitors on a mission.’ The mission is to ensure patients are getting proper healthcare, palliative care and to avoid them from being pressured into euthanasia or MAiD,” she said.
A coalition of 2,700 Medical Professionals, including 1,063 doctors, are asking for a halt to the use of mRNA Covid-19 Vaccines. The group signed an official statement called “The Hope Accord.”
A whopping 2000 plus doctors, scientists, and academics have signed a declaration demanding governments around the world order an “immediate” ban on Covid mRNA shots.
The unprecedented statement, called “The Hope Accord,” has also been signed by over 2700 other healthcare professionals.
In total, the document has now gained over 33,000 signatories.
As Slay News previously reported, The Hope Accord was first launched last week and has quickly gathered a huge amount of support.
At the time of publishing, the statement has gained 33,265 total supporters, including 1028 medical doctors, 2,703 other healthcare professionals, and 1063 scientists and academics.
All of the signature endorsements have been verified to ensure they are from real and qualified professionals.
