Democrats might want to rethink making Kilmar Abrego-Garcia the face of their movement if newly released body cam footage is any indication of where things are headed. And to be clear, that’s rhetorical, because it’s absolutely an indication of where things are headed.

For those unfamiliar with the Abrego-Garcia saga, the illegal immigrant was recently deported back to his home country of El Salvador. Because he was sent to CECOT, the Central American nation’s gang prison (mostly made up of MS-13 members), controversy broke out about whether sufficient due process was given. Multiple judges have been involved, and the Trump administration has been ordered to “facilitate” Abrego-Garcia’s return to the United States.

There’s just one problem: El Salvador said no, and since he’s their citizen, the United States has no ability to undo his deportation. That’s left the two sides of the issue in a stalemate.

A California Democratic representative told reporters Wednesday that she counted illegal immigrants as some of her constituents.

Democratic California Rep. Norma Torres made the remark at a press conference promoting her Fairness to Freedom Act — a bill seeking to give people who cannot afford to pay their legal fees the right to government-funded legal representation while undergoing specific immigration proceedings, such as removal and immigration bond hearings. Torres introduced the bill in 2023.

“Everyone living in my district is my constituent, and I am there to serve and to be a public servant for them. Everyone who pays taxes is a constituent of all members of Congress, including immigrants that have filed for a tax ID and are denied any benefits,” Torres told reporters.

Torres made the comment in response to a question from Daily Signal journalism fellow George Caldwell.

The New York Times, along with multiple other outlets, chastised President Donald Trump for allegedly breaking the Vatican’s dress code for Pope Francis’s funeral on Saturday.

The featured image of their story was cropped in such a way as to suggest that Trump was the only leader in a blue suit at the event.

The Times’ chief fashion critic, Vanessa Friedman, wrote that President Emmanuel Macron of France, Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Great Britain, and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy all wore black.

But, “Mr. Trump? He was wearing blue. And not even dark, midnight blue, but a clear, sapphire-like blue, with matching tie. Amid all the black and Cardinal red, it popped out like a sign.”

Ahead of next week’s papal conclave, Friday’s edition of CBS Evening News was caught in a tough situation. On one hand, being the diversity-conscious liberal show that it is, Africa correspondent Debora Patta lamented Africans are not reflected in the Vatican’s halls of power despite Catholicism growing in the area. On the other, Patta warned that an African pope would not be the pro-LGBTQ reformer liberals would want him to be.

Talking over footage of African worshipers, Patta set the scene, “This is the face of the Catholic Church’s future. The African continent is its fastest growing region. Home to at least one-fifth of its followers. That’s more than 272 million people.”

The Trump administration is now offering $1,000 and flight assistance to any illegal migrant that leaves the United States of their own volition.

An illegal migrant who uses the Trump administration’s CBP Home app to self-deport will receive a $1,000 stipend from the U.S. government, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced in a Monday press release. The “historic opportunity” provides financial and travel assistance to those who leave on their own accord, freeing up resources for immigration authorities stretched thin with the current pace of detentions and deportations.

Colorado Democrats are moving forward with immigration bills, despite a lawsuit from the Department of Justice over sanctuary laws in the state and the city of Denver.

On Saturday, the state House of Representatives passed a bill limiting how local law enforcement can interact with federal immigration authorities.

Senate Bill 25-276 passed on a party-line vote, with Democrats in favor. The Senate, which approved it in April, needs to sign off on changes made in the House before the bill heads to Gov. Jared Polis’ desk. […]

The bill would prohibit local government officials and employees from sharing personal identifying information about immigration status with ICE and would also limit where ICE can go within a public school, child care facility, hospital and library without a warrant signed by a judge. A House amendment removed the inclusion of “surrounding areas” to those banned spaces.

Public officials who intentionally violate that data sharing provision would be liable for a $50,000 civil fine, which would go to the state’s immigration legal defense fund.

The bill would also prevent local sheriffs from delaying a person’s release from jail for the purpose of immigration enforcement, get rid of certain affidavit requirements for immigrants seeking in-state tuition or a drivers license, and allow immigrant defendants to ask that a guilty plea is overturned if they were not aware of immigration consequences of that plea when they made it.

“This bill does not provide immigrants with more rights than citizens, but it ensures equal treatment under the law,” bill sponsor Rep. Elizabeth Velasco, a Glenwood Springs Democrat, said. (Real Vail)

During Sunday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Life, Liberty & Levin,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich discussed what he deemed “dictatorship by judge,” referring to the district courts working to overrule President Donald Trump.

Gingrich suggested Trump revisit former President Thomas Jefferson’s efforts to eliminate courts by repealing the Judiciary Act of 1801.

“You know, Newt, last segment I asked you, what is their program?” host Mark Levin said.

“And I want to catch myself, we know what their program is. It’s the same old thing. It’s American Marxism.”

“I wrote a whole book on it, so they don’t really want to talk about that, do they? They want to go back to what they always go back to. But is that going to work?”

“Well, we don’t have any evidence it’s going to work,” Gingrich replied.

“Look, you have a whole generation growing up, which saw the government lie to it about COVID, and saw the government lie to it about Russia, Russia, Russia; saw the FBI being corrupted, and saw the lies about Afghanistan, etc.”

“So, over in a poll we do at America’s New Majority Project, over 80% of the American people believe the government is corrupt. Now that’s really dangerous in a free society, and what Trump is doing is he’s taking on the corruption.”

A man in East Tennessee was in court on Thursday after he was charged with child sex crimes and conspiring to sexually abuse a young girl. Joseph Brandon, an actor in film and television, saw his home raided amid accusations that he had partnered with a Michigan man to create sexual abuse material. Brandon is also an Antifa influencer who sells t-shirts emblazoned with the words “I am Antifa mother f*cker.”

The alleged plot involved posing “as a young girl on social media to trick another young girl into sharing nude photos,” per WBIR. Accused co-conspirator Michael Bledsoe’s home in Haslett, Michigan, was also searched by the FBI. Court documents reveal that the duo used the messaging app Kik to coordinate their plan to “befriend a girl on Snapchat by pretending to be a girl around her age, and he would use the friendship to try and get sexually explicit images.”

Brandon, who wrote a book on parenting, is also revealed to have admitted, per court documents, “to pulling this same scheme for other men he met online.” He also said “he had success in getting child pornography from other minors.” He was linked to five separate Snapchat profiles, which were used to talk to minors. It was during the search of Beldsoe’s Michigan home that Brandon’s involvement was discovered.

Brandon is an Antifa activist and leftist social media influencer, Andy Ngo writes, who has made videos against Christians and has urged others to kill Proud Boys. He’s also called for direct actions against churches that do not affirm trans and queer ideology and believes that being friends with a Republican is equivalent to being a Nazi.

Liberals will tell you that all illegal immigrants are just good-hearted people who want to work as maids, gardeners, crop pickers, and do the “jobs that Americans don’t want to do.” We always knew that sounded kind of racist and wasn’t true, but Donald Trump has fully exposed the lies of the Biden administration by proving that—despite Ole Joe’s assertion that he couldn’t stop the human tsunami—it could actually be done relatively quickly.

The most memorable meme of the recent Canadian election campaign emerged from the line outside an Ontario microbrewery, where an older Liberal Party supporter named Matt Janes flashed two middle fingers to protesters agitating against Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The obscenity went viral — with Janes becoming infamous as the Brantford Boomer — not just for its crass vulgarity, but for exposing the deep generational divide in Canada.

Polls showed Canadians boomers overwhelmingly backing the successful Liberal campaign, which Carney centered on confronting U.S. President Donald Trump and his threats to annex the country. Younger Canadians stuck living with their parents and unable to afford starting families supported the Conservative Party, which campaigned on cost-of-living issues, combating crime, and reversing what leader Pierre Poilievre branded the “lost decade” of economic malaise under former prime minister Justin Trudeau.

An activist group out of Missouri is using the state’s recently passed unlimited abortion constitutional amendment to go after the last remaining safeguards for women, girls, and babies on the books, including a law mandating parental notification and consent for a minor seeking an abortion.

Right By You, an organization that prides itself on instructing underage girls in Missouri on how to get birth control and abortions, filed a lawsuit on April 30 alleging that laws requiring a minor to secure a parent’s permission, or endure a “potentially traumatic judicial bypass process,” to end a pregnancy “flagrantly violate” the new amendment to the state constitution.

“The laws bully pregnant young people without parental support into giving birth and threaten legal action against and undermine the core activities of Good Samaritans who seek to help young people effectuate their own decisions about their pregnancies with dignity,” the lawsuit claims.

Conservative MP Damien Kurek indicated on Friday that he would only be “temporarily” abandoning the seat of Battle River-Crowfoot in Alberta, which he handily secured reelection to on Monday with 82% of the vote.

“Although it will be hard to temporarily step away from this role, in this region I love and have always called home, the mandate given to me is one that clearly states that change is needed,” Kurek said.

“Offering this seat to our party leader is an important step in that process,” he added.

Poilievre praised Kurek for the “selfless” move and vowed to “earn the trust of the good people of Battle River-Crowfoot.”

Simion heads to the second round of the Romanian Presidential Election as the clear favorite.

Puerto Rico withdrew its $1 billion climate lawsuit against the oil and gas industry on Friday following the Trump administration’s move to block two states from seeking legal damages for similar alleged environmental damages.

Filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the territory’s government said in the notice that it “voluntarily dismisses this entire case,” with no further elaboration as to why. President Donald Trump has repeatedly condemned state-level climate policies that impact domestic energy production, and on April 30, his Department of Justice (DOJ) filed two separate lawsuits against Hawaii and Michigan after both states considered filing similar complaints against the oil and gas industry.

“This dismissal adds to the growing momentum among federal and state courts holding that states and municipalities cannot use state laws to sue over climate change,” Theodore J. Boutrous, Jr. of Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher LLP, counsel for Chevron Corporation wrote in a statement provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “These claims are precluded and preempted by federal law and must be dismissed under clear U.S. Supreme Court precedent.”

On April 24, the Congressional Research Service (CRS) issued a report on China’s naval modernization, noting that, “China’s navy is, by far, the largest of any country in East Asia, and sometime between 2015 and 2020 it surpassed the U.S. Navy in numbers of battle force ships …” The CRS report then quotes the DOD, that China’s navy “is the largest navy in the world …”

As an Asian land power, why would China be rapidly expanding its navy?

A benign view of China’s naval buildup is that it is driven by its economic and security needs. As the world’s second-largest economy, it relies on maritime trade routes for energy and raw materials imports and exports of finished goods, making sea lane security paramount. Though, one might ask, security against what threat?

Of note, even though China has a base in Djibouti on the Red Sea, its navy has been wholly absent in keeping the vital waterway and path to the Suez Canal open in the face of piratical Houthi attacks on shipping. In fact, the U.S. government has credibly accused a Chinese satellite company of providing real-time intelligence to the Houthis to aid in their targeting of shipping, including the U.S. Navy. That China’s naval buildup and China’s increasing bellicosity align with paramount leader Xi Jinping’s vision of national rejuvenation linked to maritime command of the seas — far beyond Taiwan’s rocky shores.

French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed the grant at the “Choose Europe for Science” event in Paris.

“A few years ago, no one would have imagined that one of the biggest democracies in the world would cancel research programs under the pretext that the word diversity was in this program,” French President Emmanuel Macron said. “No one would have thought that one of the biggest democracies in the world would delete with a stroke the ability of one researcher or another to obtain visas,” Macron said, but here we are.”

A Republican-led House panel has referred former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to the Department of Justice for potential prosecution, alleging he lied to Congress about his role in a state report on COVID nursing home deaths.

Cuomo was reportedly responsible for killing thousands of nursing home residents after putting people infected with COVID in their nursing homes without their consent.

The referral, initially made by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic in October 2024, accuses Cuomo of making “criminally false statements” during a June 2024 closed-door testimony. The subcommittee, chaired by former Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, claims Cuomo falsely denied involvement in drafting or reviewing a July 2020 New York State Department of Health report that downplayed nursing home deaths and deflected blame onto staff. Documents and witness testimony, including emails and handwritten notes allegedly in Cuomo’s handwriting, suggest he reviewed, edited, and drafted portions of the report, contradicting his testimony.

Kids in Communist-dominated Illinois, where Democrats care so very much about our kids, can’t read.

The latest look at education statistics in the great state of Illinois shows that only 30 percent of fourth graders can read at level.

That isn’t even half!

So, in a state that has some of the highest spending per student, few of them can read.

Nice going, Democrats.

Per The Center Square:

Data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress report card shows that in Illinois, just 30% of fourth graders are hitting such standards. In a 2024 national exam, the state’s students finished 29th in the country for the percentage of fourth graders at or above proficiency.

“This is a huge problem across the country, but it’s a real problem here in Illinois,” Ugaste told The Center Square. “It’s my understanding that our 8th graders are doing a bit better. It speaks to the amount of damage that was done when the schools closed during the pandemic. That’s when these children would have first been in school and first learning how to read, write and do math.”

With researchers identifying third and fourth grades as being a critical period in a student’s overall academic development, school system critics like Ugaste argue that now more than ever, parents should be allowed to make use of school choice to send their children to the best school for them. Researchers stress such assessments can be early predictors for critical milestones such as future employment and overall earning potential.

Student’s victory leads to policy shift at South Carolina university

Dill reached out to Students for Life of America for help, and the national pro-life group issued a demand letter to allow the student to start her club.

Within one week of receiving the letter, the public South Carolina university rescinded the decision and confirmed recognition of Winthrop Students for Life as a new student organization.

Reached for comment, the Council of Student Leaders directed The Fix to Winthrop President Edward Serna’s official statement on the case.

It’s unclear if many on the left realize the point of running for office is to represent the American people and not foreign nationals, but actions speak louder than words.

Several Democrats have arrived in El Salvador with the intent of bringing back alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

It’s factually incorrect to claim that deporting an alleged gang member is a threat to Americans in the United States, but it’s not like these people are working with facts here. And LOL to the “illegally abducted” term, as the man was sent back to his home country after breaking federal immigration laws. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

At 94 years old, leftist billionaire George Soros has established the blueprint for how his enormous Open Society Foundations, fueled with $32 billion of his fortune, will continue fulfilling his dark vision throughout the world under the leadership of his more extreme son Alex. Part of that vision involves using the ever-evolving specter of climate change as a springboard to impel the world towards a New World Order. The utopia that the elder Soros envisions is one that has banned fossil fuels, with everyday human existence regulated into oblivion. The COVID pandemic in 2020 provided what he called a “revolutionary moment” to recognize what kind of social control could be accomplished.

MRC Business, in partnership with Bongino Report, conducted a three-month investigation into the Soros empire’s reach into the global climate-change movement. We uncovered a vast radical leftist network of hundreds of powerful Soros-funded grassroots organizations, universities, and international NGOs with influence in some of the most powerful policy-making institutions, such as the United Nations.

“Both the Executive and the Judiciary have an obligation to follow the law.”

Those thirteen words, penned by Justice Samuel Alito on Holy Saturday, represent the first admission by the judiciary that courts too can wrongly flout the law.

Justice Alito’s stark acknowledgement concluded his bullet-point evisceration of the Supreme Court’s “unprecedented” command that President Trump not remove a “putative class of detainees” under the Alien Enemies Act. The Supreme Court had entered that order shortly after midnight after the American Civil Liberties Union (“ACLU”) filed an emergency application asking alternatively for an emergency injunction, an immediate administrative injunction, a writ of mandamus, or a stay of removal, to prevent the Trump Administration from removing Venezuelans to El Salvador pursuant to the Alien Enemies Act.

The ACLU’s scattershot request for relief from the Supreme Court came a mere two days after they sued the Trump Administration in a federal court in Texas — and before that court or the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals had an opportunity to rule on the request for an injunction barring the removal of any more aliens to El Salvador.

Ten years have passed since the Department of Defense initiated a social experiment with women in the military. Pentagon officials promised that female trainees headed for previously all-male combat arms units would have to meet the exact same standards as men. Has the experiment played out as promised?

We are about to find out. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s March 30 memorandum calls for a 60-day review to achieve high, uncompromised standards in combat arms units such as the infantry, special operations, and other occupations with extraordinary physical demands.

Thanks to a series of executive orders that President Donald Trump has issued since January, Hegseth’s six-month implementation period should proceed without equivocation or distractions related to percentage-based diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) quotas. Wrote Hegseth, “[I]t is essential to identify which positions require heightened entry-level and sustained physical fitness.”
