Minnesota faces federal lawsuit for offering illegal immigrants college tuition benefits denied to Americans
The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a complaint challenging laws in Minnesota that provide free and reduced in-state tuition to illegal aliens, claiming the laws are unconstitutional.
Under federal law, higher education institutions are prohibited from providing benefits to illegal aliens not offered to U.S. citizens.
According to the DOJ, Minnesota’s laws unconstitutionally discriminate against U.S. citizens and are in direct conflict with federal law.
“No state can be allowed to treat Americans like second-class citizens in their own country by offering financial benefits to illegal aliens,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said. “The Department of Justice just won on this exact issue in Texas, and we look forward to taking this fight to Minnesota in order to protect the rights of American citizens first.”
By filing the lawsuit, the DOJ is demanding that Minnesota stop the enforcement of a law requiring public colleges and universities to provide in-state tuition rates and free tuition based on certain income circumstances to immigrants in the country illegally who maintain state residency.

The Trump administration is fighting back hard against the “fake news” media following CNN’s reckless and misleading report late Tuesday that claimed the U.S. strikes on three of Iran’s key nuclear sites only set the theocratic regime’s nuclear program back by a few months. Anonymous officials had leaked a preliminary “low confidence” assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency to CNN reporters.
Sources told The New York Post that the DIA assessment, which had been labeled “top secret,” was “compiled on Sunday without input from other intelligence agencies. … That suggests the report authors did not use CIA or other assets inside Iran to verify the extent of the damage nor rely on audio or online communications that may have been intercepted by the National Security Agency.”

Anthony Bernal, a longtime senior advisor to former First Lady Jill Biden and often referred to as her “work husband,” has been subpoenaed to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on July 16 at 10:00 a.m., according to an official subpoena obtained Thursday. The hearing will take place at 2247 Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
Bernal had previously agreed to voluntarily testify behind closed doors today, June 26, as part of the committee’s ongoing investigation into former President Joe Biden’s cognitive health and use of the autopen for signing executive documents. But after the White House Counsel’s Office waived executive privilege related to his testimony, Bernal abruptly pulled out of the scheduled appearance, drawing fierce criticism from Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY).
“Let this subpoena send a clear message to Biden’s inner circle: We will stop at nothing to expose the truth about Joe Biden’s decline & unauthorized use of the autopen,” Comer wrote Thursday.
