CNN is a silly content-creating network, though Scott Jennings and “We’re Just Wild About” Harry Enten provide us with endless amounts of entertainment. Jennings for being the sole voice of reason when his brain goes into kill mode. Enten because of the animated way he analyzes polling data. At least, when we agree with the data. Otherwise, he is fake news.

Harry looked at polling data in light of Donald Trump’s common sense Washington DC reform and Democrats finding a new 80-20 issue to be on the wrong side of. Though this one is more of a 91-9 issue.

These numbers are before Trump’s DC takeover, but of note:

  • Trump has a fourteen point swing in how he handles crime
  • There is a TWENTY-SEVEN point gap between Trump and The People Who Controlled Joe Biden
  • Republicans lead Democrats by sixteen points when it comes to handling crime

President Donald Trump’s sweeping law-and-order crackdown in Washington, D.C., is delivering a major win for law-abiding residents seeking the right to protect themselves.

The president’s Making D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force has slashed the city’s concealed carry and firearm registration wait times from months down to mere days, all without changing local gun laws.

The task force, created via Trump’s March executive order to revitalize the capital, worked directly with local officials to streamline the process for residents navigating the District’s notoriously strict firearms system.

The media/left-wing hysteria over movie star Sydney Sweeney’s ad for American Eagle was straight out of the Twilight Zone.

I mean, who would have thought a simple commercial about jeans featuring an unapologetically curvy woman that reminded you of those Calvin Klein ads featuring actress Brooke Shields from the 1980s would have sparked a backlash centered around wokeness and anti-white racism?

Well, it indeed happened, as Legal Insurrection‘s own Leslie Eastman explained at the time:

Unfortunately, the woke and those who bitterly cling to “body positivity” and victimhood are incredibly unhappy. The elite media refers to the ads as “controversial” as they promote the hysterical and nonsensical takes on the AE campaign. But I have to say the anti-white race hate in the remarks published in the reports about this “nontroversy” is positively chilling.

Two more Republican governors are surging National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., in support of President Donald Trump‘s crackdown on violent crime in the capital.

On Sunday night, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine both announced their respective deployment of troops to the capital. Those deployments include 200 troops from South Carolina and an additional 150 from Ohio.

In both of their statements, McMaster and DeWine said the troops would be there for added support as Trump looks to tackle violent crime in Washington.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced that he is sending hundreds of National Guard troops from his state to Washington, D.C., to assist with President Donald Trump’s crackdown on violent crime in the capital.

Trump has been targeting crime in Washington over the past week, deploying 800 D.C. National Guard troops as well as taking control of D.C. police for 30 days. Part of the latter order was scaled back on Friday, with D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith largely resuming control of the department as opposed to DEA Administrator Terrance Cole, who the Trump administration sought to install as an emergency police commissioner.

Despite the setback, the National Guard and federal officers including from the FBI, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Homeland Security Investigations have continued to patrol the streets, and as of Saturday, more are set to join them.

A new report details how the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT lobby, pressures hospitals into child genital mutilation and castration.

A new report from Do No Harm (DNH) titled, “How the Human Rights Campaign’s Healthcare Equality Index Infects Pediatric Hospitals with Gender Ideology,” details how HRC and its charity branch, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRCF), uses a scoring index to measure a hospital’s “compliance with various tenets of gender ideology.” Hospitals lose points if they do not offer or encourage dangerous and anti-human transgender procedures such as male genital amputation, breast amputation, and fake genital construction for children.

“It is time to expose and root out the Human Rights Campaign’s vast influence over healthcare systems. Our report sheds light on how the HRC weaponized its so-called ‘Healthcare Equality Index’ to pressure pediatric hospitals into chemically and surgically castrating children,” said report author Kurt Miceli, MD, in a statement. “By capitulating to the HRC’s political scheme, hospitals have utterly betrayed patients, especially children struggling with gender dysphoria. If health systems care about providing high-quality pediatric care, then they should distance themselves from the HRC and its Index.”

WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump called on Wednesday (Aug 20) for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to step down, expanding pressure on the central bank after recent criticism of Fed Chair Jerome Powell for not lowering interest rates sooner.

“Cook must resign, now!!!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, while sharing a Bloomberg news report on how the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) director has called for greater scrutiny of Cook over a pair of mortgages.

FHFA director Bill Pulte – a staunch ally of Trump’s – had reportedly written a letter to the US Attorney General calling for an investigation of Cook while suggesting that she might have committed a criminal offence.

It was not immediately clear if such a probe will take place.

The Trump administration has pursued allegations of mortgage fraud against high-profile Democrats who are seen as political adversaries of the president.

The US leader’s targeting of Cook, who sits on the central bank’s rate-setting committee, comes after his repeated broadsides against Powell while the Fed kept the benchmark lending rate unchanged this year.

Cook took office as a Fed governor in May 2022 and was reappointed to the board in September 2023. She was sworn in later that same month for a term ending in 2038.

Cook has previously served on the Council of Economic Advisers under former President Barack Obama.

In recent months, Trump has called Powell a “numbskull” and “moron” as the central bank held rates steady to monitor the effects of US tariffs on inflation.

Trump had also previously suggested that what he said is an overly costly renovation of the Fed’s headquarters could be a reason to oust Powell, before backing off the threat.

Powell’s term as Fed chair ends in May 2026.

With the runaway Texas Democrats folding, it’s only a matter of time before the new redistricting plan passes and Republicans pick up five new House seats. The decision to gerrymander the Lone Star State was made in response to states like California, which, despite its “independent commission,” has a map that gives Democrats 43 of the 52 seats with just 60 percent of the total vote.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested that he could avoid congressional approval to extend his 30-day federal takeover of Washington’s police, amid his efforts to wrest control of the capital’s law enforcement.

Trump this week invoked the Home Rule Act, effectively handing the executive branch control over Washington’s police for up to 30 days. Beyond that, Trump would have to go through Congress for an extension authorization.

But during his speech announcing the 2025 Kennedy Center honorees on Wednesday, Trump repeatedly floated circumventing Congress to maintain his hold over the city’s law enforcement.

President Donald Trump’s administration is offering a $5 million cash reward for the arrest of Haiti’s most powerful warlord.

An indictment announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro accuses Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier of organizing an international conspiracy to fund his criminal gang, chiefly by soliciting money from Haitians living in the United States.

The infamous gang leader is believed to be responsible for barbaric massacres, including a 2018 attack that left more than 700 dead, hundreds of homes destroyed, and multiple women raped.

Cherizier’s co-defendant, Bazile Richardson, is a naturalized U.S. citizen from Haiti who was living in North Carolina.

He was arrested in Texas in July.

Inflation held at 2.7% for the year ending in July in the consumer price index, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Tuesday, suggesting that the price pressures from tariffs were not as strong as originally feared.

Forecasters expected inflation to rise for a third straight month to 2.8%.

Yet the report contained some signs of underlying inflationary pressure. Core inflation, a measure that strips out the volatile categories of food and energy prices, rose two-tenths of a percentage point to 3.1%, higher than expected. For just the month, core prices were up 0.3%, the largest monthly increase of the year so far.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Wednesday confirmed that he and other local Democrats would hold a high-profile press conference geared towards combating the legislative effort to add five additional House seats in Texas.

“Donald Trump is about to have a very bad day,” Newsom wrote in a Wednesday post on X.

The president previously told reporters that Republicans were “entitled” to additional seats and said the FBI “may have to” go after Democratic lawmakers who fled the Lone Star State to ensure a vote approving the measure didn’t pass.

WASHINGTON, DC — President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order on August 7, 2025, aimed at preventing financial institutions from denying services to Americans based on their political or religious beliefs or lawful business activities. The order comes in response to past instances where banks and regulators allegedly engaged in politically motivated account closures and restrictions.

The order cites examples of financial institutions participating in government-directed surveillance programs after the events of January 6, 2021, flagging transactions related to companies such as Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops or payments referencing “Trump” or “MAGA” without evidence of criminal conduct. It also references “Operation Chokepoint,” a prior federal effort that pressured banks to limit services to certain legal industries deemed high-risk or controversial by regulators.

California voters want to keep the state’s independent redistricting commission in place, even as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) pushes to redraw the maps by giving redistricting power to California‘s Democratic legislators, a new poll revealed.

Newsom wants to redraw the state’s lines in a way that favors Democrats to combat President Donald Trump’s push for Texas lawmakers to do the same in a way that favors Republicans.

A POLITICO-Citrin Center-Possibility Lab survey found that 36% of registered voters in California support returning congressional redistricting authority to state lawmakers. Sixty-four percent of voters in the state want to keep the commission.

The demonstrations, marked by chants and calls for drivers to avoid police checkpoints, came as the White House defended the month-long federal control as necessary to combat crime, despite city data showing violent crime at a decades-low, reported AP.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to file a lawsuit against Jerome Powell, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, over renovations to the agency’s building.

In a post on Truth Social, the president lambasted Powell over his refusal to lower interest rates and his handling of the renovations to the Federal Reserve’s building.

“Jerome ‘Too Late’ Powell must NOW lower the rate,” Trump wrote. ‘Steve “Manouychin’ really gave me a ‘beauty’ when he pushed this loser. The damage he has done by always being Too Late is incalculable.”

Trump said he is “ considering allowing a major lawsuit against Powell to proceed because of the horrible, and grossly incompetent, job he has done in managing the construction of the Fed Buildings.”

A hypothetical matchup for governor of New York is tightening, according to results showing a MAGA congresswoman coming closer to striking distance against Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul.

If the election were held today, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) would finish 14 points behind Hochul. However, the contest is 15 months away, and the gap represents the smallest since news first emerged that Stefanik was considering a bid for the state’s corner office.

The Siena College poll also asked about Lee Zeldin, President Trump’s energy secretary, who ran for governor of New York in 2021. He trails Hochul by 11 points, the smallest margin of any Republican candidate on record.

Judge Kendra Davis Briggs, a Biden-nominated associate judge for the D.C. Superior Court, denied the two Maryland juveniles’ requests for less restrictive detention conditions, according to the Washington Post.

The hearing follows the attack and carjacking targeting Coristine, 19, who goes by “Big Balls”, and Emily Bryant, his “significant other,” according to the filed police report of the incident. The carjacking occurred at 3:01 a.m. on Aug. 3 on the 1400 block of Swann Street NW.

Briggs presided over Monday’s hearing following President Donald Trump’s press conference in which he declared a “crime emergency” in Washington, federalized the Metropolitan Police Department, and mobilized the D.C. National Guard. Trump, who has repeatedly floated threats of federalizing the capital city, amped up his rhetoric against D.C. home rule after the attack against Coristine.
