“Within a year we will be able to declare victory in Gaza,” he told attendees. “Gaza will be entirely destroyed, civilians will be sent to… the south to a humanitarian zone without Hamas or terrorism, and from there they will start to leave in great numbers to third countries,” Smotrich said, according to the Agence France-Presse.

“Israel does not intend to withdraw from territories the IDF captures, not even as part of a deal to release hostages,” he added.

My title is ‘Less Generals, More GI’s,’” Hegseth said in a companion video posted on X. “We’re going to shift resources from bloated headquarters elements to our war fighters.” Hegseth called the plan “historic” and the “most comprehensive review since the Goldwater-Nichols Department of Defense Reorganization Act of 1986,” which he said was “a generational change in combat command structures.”

“Let’s take a bit of a trip down memory lane in history,” Hegseth said in the video. “When we were fighting across the globe during World War II, we had a force that was 12-million-strong. For that 12-million-man element, we had 17 four-and-five-star generals. Today, we have 2.1 million service members and 44 four-star and flag officers. So, it used to be a ratio of one general to 6,000 troops. Today, it’s one general to 1,400.”

WASHINGTON — Many Americans do not agree with President Trump’s aggressive efforts to quickly enact his agenda, a new poll finds, and even Republicans are not overwhelmingly convinced that his attention has been in the right place.

Americans are nearly twice as likely to say Trump has been mostly focusing on the wrong priorities as to say he has been focusing on the right ones, according to the survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Further, about 4 in 10 Americans say Trump has been a “terrible” president in his second term, and about 1 in 10 say he has been “poor.” In contrast, about 3 in 10 say he has been “great or ”good,” while just under 2 in 10 say he has been “average.”

Most haven’t been shocked by the drama of Trump’s first 100 days. About 7 in 10 U.S. adults say the first few months of Trump’s second term have been mostly what they expected, and only about 3 in 10 say the Republican president’s actions have been mostly unexpected.

But that does not mean they are pleased with how those opening months have gone.
