The challenge of more than 60,000 votes in the state Supreme Court race is a threat to democracy that could serve as a model to other losing politicians who want to reverse their defeats at the ballot box, speakers at a Monday rally said.

Republican Appeals Court Judge Jefferson Griffin wants more than 60,000 votes thrown out in his effort to unseat incumbent Democratic Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs. She leads by 734 votes and has maintained the lead through two recounts.

Dawn Blagrove, executive director of Emancipate NC, called the effort to throw out votes “the canary in the coal mine.”

“If we allow them to steal this election, no election will be safe,” she said.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes suffered a major setback in her highly controversial, ongoing criminal case against major Trump allies and alternate electors from the 2020 election, as the defendants recently cleared a major hurdle in their quest to dismiss the case by citing an Arizona law aimed at preventing politically-motivated prosecutions.

In April of last year, Mayes’ office announced that grand jury had indicted former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, and five other former aides to former President Donald Trump on felony charges related to the Trump campaign’s objection to the 2020 election results. The indictment, which includes felony counts of conspiracy, fraud and forgery, also names Trump as an “unindicted co-conspirator.”

Eleven additional Arizona Republicans who served as alternate electors have also been indicted, including former Arizona GOP Chairwoman Kelli Ward, state senators Jake Hoffman and Anthony Kern, and Arizona’s RNC committeeman Tyler Bowyer. Leftist prosecutors have routinely labeled alternate electors as “fake electors” before charging them with felony forgery and fraud crimes.

Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier is set to be released from a Florida prison Tuesday based on former President Joe Biden having commuted his life sentence for the 1975 killings of two FBI agents, a decision that elated Peltier’s supporters while angering law enforcement officials who believe in his guilt.

For nearly half a century, Peltier’s imprisonment has symbolized systemic injustice for Native Americans across the country who believe in his innocence. The decision to release the 80-year-old to home confinement was celebrated by supporters.

“He represents every person who’s been roughed up by a cop, profiled, had their children harassed at school,” said Nick Estes, a professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota and a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe who has advocated for Peltier’s release.

At least 31 people have died after a bus crash in Bolivia, police have said.

An officer said the driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to drop more than 2,600 ft (800m) off a precipice in the southwestern area of Yocalla.

Among the injured, 10 adults and four children were taken to hospital, with several in intensive care, a healthcare official said.

The mountainous route the vehicle was on has lots of twists and turns, the police officer said, adding that speed could have been another factor in the accident.

Now That He Is President, Trump Claims He Has Nothing To Do With Inflation– www.politicususa.com

Donald Trump made a lot of insane promises during the 2024 presidential campaign that people who were paying attention knew would never come true.

During an August 2024 press conference surrounded by food Trump said, “Grocery prices have skyrocketed. When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one. We will drill, baby, drill. That’s going to bring down prices of everything.”

The promise was always gibberish because the oil that is extracted in the United States belongs to the oil companies and is sold on the global market. Factor in the fact that oil companies have an incentive to drill less to keep prices and profits high, and it was clear that oil has nothing to do with the price of groceries.

However, Trump did promise to lower prices on day one.

Fast forward to February where during an interview with Sean Hannity, Trump completely changed his tune on inflation and prices.
