“The View” co-host Joy Behar has defended Democratic Socialists, arguing that programs such as Social Security and public services, including fire departments, ambulances, and garbage collection, show that the far-left ideology already exists in American life.
Behar made the comments during a discussion on ABC’s daytime talk show after three congressional candidates endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani won Democrat primaries in New York.
The victories gave Mamdani and his Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) allies another show of strength inside the Democrats’ progressive wing.
