Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) warned that the Democratic Party has been overtaken by its far-left wing, arguing that figures such as New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Maine Senate nominee Graham Platner represent the party’s future.
Speaking with Fox News while campaigning in South Carolina ahead of the state’s Republican gubernatorial runoff, Cruz said Democrats have moved dramatically away from the political center and are increasingly driven by hostility toward President Donald Trump.
“Look, unfortunately, I think that’s the base of the Democrat Party,” Cruz said.
