Vladimir Putin is on course for his worst monthly losses of the war this year in Ukraine. By Sunday, he suffered a staggering 41,420 killed and wounded in September, according to Kyiv’s General Staff.

At this rate, the month’s total will be around 46,000, with statistics indicating losses of 1,534 per day. It would make it one of the three bloodiest months of the war for Putin, who refuses to halt his conflict despite the horrific toll suffered by Russians.

Despite making little headway on the frontline and losing territory in the Donetsk region, Putin pummelled Ukrainian civilians overnight.

Kyiv suffered a hellish 24 hours of near constant Russian attacks, with petrol stations, mobile service operators and logistics hubs being targeted. It was the seventh consecutive day of intense strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

Russia claimed to have hit Ukrtelcom, a fixed-line telephone and broadband internet operator, and the DreamLine data centre in Kyiv, as well as fuel infrastructure facilities. There are also fears that Putin aims to cut internet access for Ukrainians.

Moscow claimed overnight to have targeted Vasylkov military airfield, near Kyiv, home of Ukraine’s Air Force’s 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade. Early today, Putin’s jet-powered Geran drones exploded at least two filling stations in the city.

More than 20 people, including eight children, were injured during a Russian attack on civilians in Kharkiv. More were injured in a strike on Izium, Kharkiv region.
